The Crystal Ball was a huge success! Camp Everfree had been saved from its seemingly inevitable foreclosure. Not to mention Twilight overcame her malevolent alter-ego, Midnight Sparkle, and the Humane 7 saved the camp from a magic-corrupted Gloriosa Daisy. All seemed to be going very well, and the girls were not only relaxing, but admiring their new magical abilities.

"I still can't believe that these geodes granted us new magical abilities" Sunset Shimmer said to her friends. A former villainess herself, Sunset has learned the errors of her ways, and seeks to help her friends discover more about how Equestrian magic works in their world.

"Me neither. I also can't believe that I almost allowed Midnight Sparkle to dominate me" Twilight Sparkle spoke out. Formerly a student of Crystal Prep, Twilight transferred to CHS after the events of the Friendship Games.

Suddenly, a flash of rainbow light sped before the girls and Rainbow Dash appeared, holding a box of freshly made pizza "Buuutttt...luckily we didn't. And we still have time for a pizza!" The girls all chuckled to themselves as they sat down together and enjoyed their pizza.

Little did they know, but this happy time was not built to last...

Deep within the forest near Camp Everfree, a small circle of thorns began to glow, a shimmering green aura surrounding them. They coiled slowly upward as a figure, also accompanied by a green aura, began to take shape

Gaea Everfree emerged from the thorn circle and fell to the ground on her knees. She opened her eyes and surveyed her surroundings.

"Ugh...my head...what happened?" She asked herself as memories began to flash into her mind. From the moment of her reawakening thanks to Gloriosa Daisy, to her defeat at the hands of Twilight Sparkle and her band of friends. She began to rage, her aura beginning to turn a menacing red, until she calmed herself down.

"So, it appears as if I have been granted my freedom from Gloriosa's form. Perfect" She chuckled to herself, twirling her finger around her necklace, attached to which were seven crystals, identical to the geodes which were now in the Humane 7's possession. "Now all I must do is recharge my geodes, then sweet, sweet revenge will be all mine..." she cackled as she walked off into the night. However, Gaea Everfree is not the only villain making her return.

Twilight and her friends decided to call it a night and returned to their tents. They got changed and went to sleep, with the exception of Spike, who had gone off to perform 'protection duties', which usually meant chasing off any squirrels that came within a certain proximity to the tents. He enjoyed chasing the little critters. Unbeknownst to him, however, they would soon be in a lot of old trouble.

Twilight's geode began to glow as she twisted and turned in her sleep, unintelligble gibberish coming out of her mouth. Her shadow began to stand on its own accord, and grew a horn, a pair of wings and grew in size until it took on the familar shape and colour of Midnight Sparkle

Like a killer in a horror flick, she crept down next to Twilight and moved her mouth toward her ear. In an eerie, almost whispering voice, she uttered the words "Sleep well Twilight Sparkle, for it will be the last peaceful sleep you get" she silently chuckled as she peeked out of the tent and saw Spike, unmoving, in front of the tent.

Midnight rolled her eyes and conjured a quick spell upon a passing squirrel, which increased its speed and levels of hyperactivty. Spike, being a dog, ran after the squirrel with all his might.

"That did the trick" Midnight told herself as she ventured into the forest to plot her revenge against Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle.

Chapter 1

Gaea Everfree wandered through the forest, taking in the familiar sights of the Camp. She also saw the Crystal Cave on her travels, the place where she first made an appearance. She stopped by a river and ran her hand through the cold water. She recoiled at first, but eventually grew accustomed to it and smiled. Despite being evil, Gaea Everfree could still admire the beauty of nature when it wasn't tarnished by humanity's inventions.

She looked down at her geodes and noticed that their glow was very faint, a sign that she was weaker than she was before. "All I need to do is find a source of powerful magic and I will be back to full strength soon. Then, I can finally get my revenge on those meddling ki-" She was cut off by colliding with another being. "Gah! Watch where you're going, you ridic-" She simply stood there and stared at the girl who stood in front of her.

The two she-demons blinked and stared at one another. Midnight gazed down at Gaea's dress, a small smirk forming on her face. "Well, uh...leafy lady, I must say your fashion sense is pretty good. Shame you copied me, but, y'know, can't blame ya" She giggled slightly as Gaea let out a small chuckle, folding her arms as Midnight reopened her eyes.

"I don't believe I've had the pleasure." She held out her hand toward the winged demoness. "Gaea Everfree. And you are?"

Midnight slowly grabbed Gaea's hand and shook it gently. "Midnight Sparkle." The two stood silently for some moments, until Midnight once more opened her mouth. "Oh, um...just out of interest, by any chance were you defeated by a group of girls with wings before you could achieve your goals?" Gaea nodded.

"Oh, do NOT get me started on them. I was going to immortalise myself and this camp in the seeds of nature, but then those brats got in my way, and yet I was somehow separated from my host! How about you?"

Midnight nodded "Yeah. I kinda tried ripping the world apart with interdimensional portals because there's this other world with limitless magical energy, but then the girls put their magic in another girl and she grew to my level of power and stopped me with a big sun laser. And THEN, I tried possessing my host to regain control of her and try the destroy-the-world thing again, but then she overcame her insecurities. And then...well, same as your last sentence." She finished explaining herself as Gaea simply blinked.

"Rip the world apart, huh? That sounds cool. Reckon I could maybe get a demonstration?" She folded her arms again, smirking. "Would be best to know what you can do, if we'll be allying ourselves with one another." Midnight nodded as she began to charge up her magic.

Midnight's eyes began to glow as blue energy emerged from her hand "Now, I may not be strong enough to summon portals just yet, but some small-scale destruction never hurt anybody." Gaea Everfree glanced at Midnight's magic with an intrigued curiosity as she fired a small energy beam into the forest, instantly tearing down several trees and eventually causing a small, self-contained fire to begin burning. Gaea applauded her newfound friend, as the two of them began to share a villainous cackle.
