Chapter 1: And Then I Got ALL The Powers

And Then I Got ALL The Powers

Parkour, the art of running and jumping around in area’s that you’d normally die just thinking about. Being an adrenaline junkie and a personal trainer, I live for the thrill of the jumps from roof tops, thin ledges, all of it. Today was more extreme than usual though… it was 2012, and everyone was going nuts. I wasn’t just running for thrills today, I was running to stay alive!

Living in New York, there were plenty of opportunities to grab onto something to climb up. I jumped across another rooftop, rolling to ease the landing. As I got up and jumped to the next one, something stung me, hard. I fell face first on the roof of the next building. Pain was always something I could handle, but this actually hurt. I looked at my leg… it was split open, my blood pouring out around me. My body went into shock, I couldn’t move, not at all. I could only see in the corner of my eye when someone climbed up the fire escape.

“Finally, my first kill.” He said. He was wearing an all red hood, jeans. shoes with a red painted hockey mask over his face, holding a red assault rifle. This guy really likes red. He walked over to me, and pointed the gun at my head. “Long live the people who will go down in infamy this day.”

With that, he pulled the trigger, and everything went numb.

“Gah!” I yelled as I got up. “Oh thank god it was…” I cut myself off as I saw I was in a white void. “Okay, not a dream?”

“Lot of people think that this is a dream.” That voice. I turned around, and saw Kessler from my favorite game, Infamous. “Uhhh.”

“Meh, wanted something really different.” He replied.

“Not Kessler?” I asked stupidly.

“Try God.”

“Why do you look like the bad guy from Infamous one?”

“I take a form based on what you would find comfortable, or familiar.”

“Well despite what he did, Kessler is still my favorite character.”

“Then that settles that. So, you passed the test.”

“Test?”

“The Mayan calendar thing was a test I made in my youth, regrettably, and  lots failed, but those that didn’t go crazy and kill passed, and get to go to other worlds, with items and powers you’d know as fictional.”

“... Seriously?”

“Yes.”

“Wow… what’s the catch?”

“You’ll never be able to return home.”

“Oh… good thing I’m a drifter.”

God chuckled. “So, what would you like?”

“All the powers from the infamous games, I love those games.”

“All of them?”

“ALL of them.”

“Alright, this will include one that hasn’t come out yet.”

“Oh, now I’m sad I’ll miss it. Well, anyway, so how’s this gonna work?”

God snapped his fingers and I screamed in pain as red and blue electricity flowed into me. It hurt, It felt like my molecules were being reshaped. After it was over I felt… different, as in I didn’t feel like I was in my own body anymore. “That hurt.”

“Yeah, that tends to happen.” God said, helping me up. “I gave you the powers of every conduit that can exist within those worlds, both from the protagonist, and enemies.”

“Oh, sweet.” I said, firing off a bolt of blue lightning from my hand into the air. “Nice. So, anything else?”

“Want anything else?”

“The Amp from the second game.” With another snap of his fingers, the Amp was in my hands. “Awesome. Not a cool outfit and the backpack Cole holds the Amp in.” Another snap and I was in a rather goth looking outfit with the backpack on me. I put the Amp away in it’s sleeve. “I guess that’s it.”

“Now, what world shall I put you on?”

“Uh… Not sure… just put me where powers like mine will come in really handy for people.”

God smiled. “I can think of a place.” She said as a white portal opened up.

I walked over to it. “See ya.” I said, jumping in.

I woke up feeling a bit stiff. As I stood up, there was the sound of a bell ringing… a school bell? I got up, shaking off my tiredness, and looked off the side of the building I was somehow on. Right, portal. There were kids going into the school. Huh, wonder what I should do? Well, got powers, lightning bolt is easy, just kinda flick or the fingers while hand is raised up.

Maybe I can do the Static Thrusters move? I looked over the edge of school I was standing on and jumped, placing my arms in a similar way to Cole, and a low voltage electric aura slowed my fall to a gentle landing. Alright… what next… I looked around, and spotted an outside power socket. I walked over and tried to Eclectic Drain it. It took a bit of trial and error, but to drain it I need to kinda use my electricity to arc into it and pull it out. That’s gonna need to become second nature. I took a look in a car window at myself, and realized the clothes I was wearing was a female version of Reaper clothing.

I look like a bad guy, but hey, so does Batman when you really look at him. Wonder what’s gonna happen here? Seems peaceful enough, what can I do here?

“Someone help!”

There it is. I ran the corner where a rather pale skinned purple/blue haired girl was surrounded by… by… I don’t know what those are. Some kinda pale little boney gremlins? I didn’t think too much on it and zapped them til they all were dealt with. “Not very difficult…” I said, slightly disappointed.

“Thank you… mam?” The pale woman asked.

“Yeah, I’m a girl.” I said.

“Oh… well, alright dear. So, are you some sort of hero?”

Hero… well, those were my favorite ways of playing the game. “Yeah… Call me… The First Daughter.” I said, running off and parkouring up the nearest building. Okay, so some shit’s going on here, wonder what else I should do to pass the time? I jumped from rooftop to rooftop, noticing how… colorful the people’s skin color was, I mean, yeah races but… green, yellow, and purple aren’t skin colors without an incident involving either a ton of hair dye or marker ink.

I spotted a mugging in an allie way and jumped on top of one of the muggers, slamming the Amp over his head as he fell unconscious. The other guy was surprised to I managed to lightning bolt him down and I tried out Arc Restraints, to which they struggled to get out of. I always wondered how they get out of those things?

The person who was getting mugged ran off. You’re welcome… I looked at the would-be muggers and a not so heroic thought came to mind. I reached in and took the money they had on them. Hey, they likely stole it, and honestly I can’t go around dressed like this all the time. I climbed to the rooftop in time as the police came and found them, to my surprise I was able to hear them from way up here. Guess these powers did more than the game said they did.

“You ever see anything like this sherrif Armor?” One of the other policemen asked the rather pale skinned blue haired man.

“No, they’re being restrained by… pure electricity?” He said, upon grabbing their writs the static vanished. “Huh, well that makes getting them out of here easy.” He cuffed the both of them and put them in the cop car. “What did the witness say?”

“Some lady shooting lightning like a living battery dropped in on them and knocked one guy out with some kinds metal thing while she shot lightning out of her other hand at the other guy. A girl at the high school a ways from here from what I heard had a similar encounter when those… things showed up.”

“Well this is new, first those strange creatures, increase in crime, now some woman with ‘the power of Thor’ shows up.” Damn, I could have made a Thor jok. “The city is getting… freaky lately. What about the missing persons case?”

“All we know for sure is that some guy in a black jumpsuit, armed to the teeth with an eyepatch is behind it. We don’t know how or why, and leads are practically nonexistent.”

“Damn… Well, let’s try and give this… person the benefit of the doubt.”

“Sir?”

“She shows up out of nowhere, savea a highschool girl and then a person being mugged with minimal effort, if she didn’t want to help then the could have likely killed a bunch of people rather than save a few.”

“If you say so. From what that highschool girl said she told us that woman in question called herself the “First Daughter”.”

The sheriff chuckled. “Wonder what that’s about?” He said as they drove off.

I laid flat on the roof top. “So far, I killed goblins and stopped a mugging, now the police are considering me good… best start off I can imagine has happened so far.”
