Two Hours Later,
Twilight’s Castle

Twilight Sparkle paced outside of Rainbow Dash’s guest room, still uncertain as to why her friend had rushed up to her room and why she was so upset. Using her deductive skills, she could conclude that this had to do with something that had happened at Fluttershy’s given the fact that Rainbow Dash had come home early from work. She needed to find a way to get her cheered up before Scootaloo returned home from school in three hours.

While Twilight didn’t think that Rainbow Dash was suicidal, she didn’t want to leave her pegasus friend alone and in despair. If Rainbow Dash didn’t let her inside in the next hour, she would have no choice to use her lockpicking spell to force her way inside.

Twilight’s worrying was interrupted by Starlight Glimmer loudly clearing her throat.
“Uh, Twilight there is a visitor who would like to speak to Rainbow Dash.”

“Who is it?”

“Derpy Hooves.”

Twilight turned exasperated. “Not now. Tell her that Rainbow Dash isn’t available right now.”

Starlight Glimmer said, “Derpy claims that she knows why Rainbow Dash is upset and would like to speak with Rainbow Dash privately.”

Twilight didn’t know whether or not to send in the klutzy and goofy pegasus. On one hand she didn’t want her to provoke Rainbow Dash with Derpy’s shenanigans. However, she didn’t have many options and Twilight hoped that perhaps one of Rainbow Dash’s best friends could help resolve this crisis.

“Send her in,” said Twilight.

________

Derpy Hooves lightly knocked on Rainbow Dash’s bedroom door.

“Who is it?!” replied Dash, her voice muffled by the door.

“Guess who,” cooed Derpy Hooves in her bubbly voice.

“Look Derpy, I’m not in the mood.”

“Rainbow Dash, I’m not leaving until you let me in,” said Derpy, threatening to go from being cute to annoying.

Rainbow Dash opened the door a crack, her cheeks tear stained. Upon seeing that Derpy Hooves was alone, she invited her friend in.

“I brought some muffins along to cheer you up,” said Derpy Hooves as she reached into her satchel bag.

“Thanks Derpy,” said Rainbow Dash, accepting her friends “pick me up.”

“So what appears to be the problem? I saw you rush out of Fluttershy’s cottage all upset.”

“It’s nothing that you would understand,” said Rainbow Dash dismissively.

“Look, Rainbow Dash, I know that a lot of ponies around Ponyville don’t exactly view me as the smartest mare. But I do know when a friend of mine is hurting. Please let me know what’s wrong.”

“Promise me you can keep a secret.”

“Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye,” said Derpy Hooves, repeating the famous Pinkie Pie maxim.

“While at Fluttershy’s Cottage, I met and told a certain friend of mine about my romantic feelings for them.”
“I’m guessing that didn’t go to well,” said Derpy Hooves.
“Well let’s just say that we fought and that some strong words were exchanged. I fear that I’ve lost a friend today.”
“Do you want to know what I think you should do?” asked Derpy.
“Certainly,” said Dash.
“I think that if you really love this friend of yours, then you should let them know that you’ll love and care for them no matter what, even if only as friends. Additionally, you need to make up with them and apologize for any hurtful words you may have said to this friend of yours,” said Derpy as she wrapped a wing around Rainbow Dash.
“I do have a tendency to say brash things that I regret,” said Dash, hanging her head in shame.
“You also have the tendency to be a good friend after apologizing,” said Derpy Hooves, referring to the time when Rainbow Dash exploded on her for accidentally damaging town hall and how she had reconciled with Derpy Hooves afterwards.
“You’re right Derpy. I think I know what I have to do.”
