Half an Hour Later,
Applebloom’s Room

Applejack creaked open the door to Applebloom’s room. Under the covers of Applebloom’s bed Applejack could make out an heaving bulge from which came crying sounds. The orange mare made her way over to her crying sister.

Applebloom, hearing the clop of approaching hooves, pulled the covers even tighter around her and moved as far away on the bed as possible from Applejack. Applejack ignored the evasiveness of her younger sister and sat down on the bed next to where Applebloom was. Not wanting to provoke Applebloom by removing the covers, she instead opted to address the blob under the covers.

“Look, Sugarcube. I know that you’re angry at me and Big Mac. I don’t expect you to agree with us. But I do want you to understand that we do this because we love you a lot and couldn’t bear to let anything bad happen to you. Someday, you’ll be responsible for colts and fillies of your own. Maybe then you’ll understand.”

Leaning in, Applejack kissed the blanket where she knew Applebloom was under.

“Goodnight Sugarcube,” said Applejack as she got up and began to make her way over to the door.

“I love you too,” whispered a voice from under the covers.

Applejack turned around and jumped onto the bed. Embracing each other, the two sister silently forgave each other and reaffirmed their love for one another.
