Act 7: Myasnik's First Of Many Hearth's Warmings Pt. 1

Myasnik opens his eyes, he was sitting in a moving vehicle in the front passenger seat. Who was driving it though? He looked to the side to find his father at the wheel a smile on his face with a cigarette in his mouth and his arm resting on the open window of the door. He removes the cigarette, looking over at Myasnik slightly while still maintaining his eyes on the road.

“You look good, kiddo. Seems like you are living quite the life these days. Even if it isn’t back home.”

Myasnik crosses his arms and stares out the window, watching the green fields roll by as they drove.

“Tch. What the hell are you doing here, old man?Shouldn’t you be...wherever the hell you went when you died?”

Myasnik and his father didn’t part on very good terms before his death. As he got closer to death, he became mean and nearly violent. He never did hit his mother, but he did degrade her verbally quite a lot. At least he never laid a hand on her in a harmful way though. He knew better than to do that.

“Come on, Myasnik. Is that any way to treat your father?”

“What do you want? I know this isn’t real so say what you want to say and get the hell out of my head.”

“He chuckles lightly and continues driving, the engine of the old school muscle car roaring as he stepped on the gas a bit more.

“While this is inside your head, I am very much here, Myasnik. Granted for a small time, but I am here. As for what I have to say. You certainly did a number of those equine beings, didn’t you? And you handle that knife so efficiently. I am quite proud of you for honing your skills. But the fact you almost took a life as young as you are out of anger doesn’t sit right with me..”

“Yeah right, coming from the guy who got the highest record of headshots when he was in the army. Don’t feed me your hypocrisy, old man.”

“I am not saying there won’t be a time where you won’t need to kill, son. You will run into many life or death situations in the world you are in. Hell, I am surprised about our damn government was hiding a fucking portal of sorts. I knew technology was advancing, but shit. Also, about the whole being genetically altered thing. I knew about it. And I am sorry I didn’t tell you about it.but my hands were tied. And if the cancer hadn’t taken me from you and your mother. Well...things may have happened differently.’

‘You have no right to talk about her after the way you treated her. I know you never raised a hand against her, but the things you said to ehr. She cried every night when you weren’t around. In all honesty, after that, I am glad you are dead.’

The car comes to a stop on an overlook, below there was a lush green field with a few cattle munching on the grass. His father just sighed and sat back in the seat after turning off the motor.

‘Look myasnik, i know what i did was wrong. And i am truly sorry. But i am only here to give you advice. Don’t bottle up your feelings around others, let these beings into your life. You will need them more than you could ever know.’

‘I will let them in when I damn well please. Don’t feed me the same garbage she did.’

He gets out of the car and slams the door behind hi,m, he looks behind him at his father.

‘I hate you, old man. Your damn addiction drove our family apart in the long run. I will see you in hell when I get there.’

“Heh, oh no son. I am not in hell otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to come and see you like this.”

“Tch...so they let people like you into the promised land? Geez, they are really lowering their standards. Anyways, I am out of here. See ya.”

And with that, Myasnik slowly reopens his eyes back in the physical world. He slowly sits up and grunts in slight pain. His bruises were pretty sore from the beating he had taken, but he knew the others were way worse off. The only thing he really questioned himself is why he got so furious when he saw the girls being hurt. Granted, he would have found a way to help them either way. But what happened when his anger spiraled out of control. He won’t lie to himself, he cares for them very much. Even though he doesn’t really show it. But, to go into black light mode, that is something he thought would never really happen. He gets up and starts moving around. He needed some time to think about what had happened.

Once he was fully dressed and his guns slinged onto his back, he grabs his cloak and heads out after grabbing a couple boxes of ammunition. It was early morning, so Twilight was still asleep. He quietly makes his way outside the door of the library and makes his way to the secret spot where he had set up his own target range and campsite, just in case he needed to get away from things like what had happened. He makes his way away from the city and to a far off area, he left markers in certain spots along the way that couldn’t be hidden by the snow, but also that no other could indicate what it was.

He was actually pretty lucky in creating his ‘outpost’. There was a small, abandoned shack he had found and made it his own. He figured he’d use it to get out of the snow since it was there, and the roof had small openings, so he could start a fire and the smoke will just vent out. A nice little getaway that only he knew about. A place for him to come and think while emptying a few rounds.

Myasnik goes to his spot in front of the range. He had targets set on a few trees, each ten meters away from the last. He gets down into a prone position and settles in as he brings his sniper rifle up in front. He lines up the shot carefully, takes in a deep breath and holds it. He squeezes the trigger.

    BANG!

He alters to the next target...

        BANG!

        To the next...

        BANG!

       Again..

       BANG!

        And again...

        BANG!

        And the final round...

        BANG!

He removes the empty clip and places it beside him where he was going to pile them up. He was pretty much on autopilot at the moment, while he was shooting, his mind was fixed on everything else that had happened.

You are a damned idiot...losing your temper like that is going to get you into some serious shit with their leader…

He slides another clip in and begins to process over again.

But no one was coming to help. They all stood by and just watched. I couldn’t let them hurt Sweetie and the others…

He kept on rolling it around in his head as he emptied clip after clip. By the time he was down to his few last clips, a pile of emptied shells had formed beside him. And someone else had also made their presence aware to him.

“So this is where you went off to. Already up and about after what happened are we?”

Myasnik sighed and knew that voice, of course, she’d find him, even if his rifle was silenced, she’d be able to find him easily. He puts in a fresh clip and then puts the gun on safety, he slings it back onto his back and begins packing the empty clips away.

“So what? You’ve come to blame me for coming to the defense of three little girls who no one else had to balls to come help or just didn’t care? Gonna make an example out of me with public execution?”

The princess of the sun understood why he thought she would do such a thing. He thought he had broken the rules that were laid down when he first came here. But she knew as she heard each side of the story from the Scootaloo and the others. But she was curious why the reason had triggered him to go into such a violent state. She walks over and kneels beside him carefully, watching him collect the clips and the empty shell.

“You were within your right, Myasnik, this is clear. But I am curious as to why you reacted so violently. Was it because your friends were in danger? And that you saw no other way out? The colts you confronted were much larger and stronger than you are. And yet, they had excessive damage done to them. More than you had.Was it just a simple case of adrenaline and desperation to save them? Or is it something that involves what you explained to me when you first came here?”

Myasnik sighed and sat down after placing the empty clips and shells into his leather bag. Nothing gets by her it seemed.

“It is something that involves it, yes. Are you so eager to know more of something so unethical? The creation of a super soldier is bound to have some quirks along the way. But if you want to know, I will tell you.”

He went on to explain about the ‘black light mode’ and what could possibly trigger it, which only validated her suspicions on why it happened. Sh listened to him intently, waiting patiently for him to finish.

“So then, when you came under a great deal of stress, mixed with the desperation and drive to save the fillies, then is…’black light mode’ was triggered. Has this ever happened before?”

He shakes his head in response

“That was the first time. Though something else tells me you didn’t come up here to only inquire about the incident. I know what today is. But I have no reason to celebrate it. I have no family to celebrate it with. So I figured I’d spend it out here, return to Ponyville tomorrow afternoon and just go about living life.”

Suddenly the princess gently brings her hands to gently cup his jaw. He blinks a few times her her beautiful purple eyes lock with his.

“It’s true, Myasnik. Your family isn’t here to celebrate this wonderful holiday, nor will they ever be…”

She gives him a gentle smile and rubs his cheeks with her thumbs.

“...but you have ponies here who care for you greatly. Twilight worries about you day and night. Fluttershy does as well. And those sweet fillies you fought to protect admire you so. They may not be family by blood. But they love you, Myasnik. Even after they saw the side of you from yesterday, that doesn’t change their feelings.”

Myasnik knew that in the bottom of his heart, she was right. They have been so patient with him, and have been there for him. Especially when he never even asked. He pulls away from her gentle grasp and turns away.

“Their kindness hasn’t gone unnoticed, nor unappreciated. I just don’t think I should open myself up because they are friendly with me. I know this is a different world, but so was mine. If you went to mine and could never come back, you’d learn real fast why I am always so guarded, why i don’t let others in.”

She frowns slightly as he pulls away. She sighs lightly and nods.

“You are right. I don’t know, and I probably never will. But you need to understand also that while there is conflict in this world as well, this is a new slate for you. Go and be with them, Myasnik. I am sure by now, Twilight is completely worried about you and wondering why you left.”

Myasnik sighed and looked down at his last clip he had in his hand, then looks back to Celestia.

“Fine, I will go back. But before i do, I am emptying these rounds.”

He said before grabbing his sniper rifle and gets back into the prone position. He clicks the safety off but then noticed Celestia watching him observantly.

“I recommend covering your ears. If you aren’t used to hearing a gun discharge, it’s gonna hurt.”

Celestia shook her head with a light smile.

“I have heard louder sounds in my time. Besides, I am curious as to how this weapon of yours works.”

Myasnik shrugs and focuses his attention back on his homemade targets. He looks back to Celestia who seemed to be genuinely curious. He then turns his gaze to the scope and squeezes the trigger.

    BANG!

While the sound didn’t hurt her ears, it certainly surprised her. But the only thing she saw was the muzzle flash and then a large chunk of the target fly off the tree. But she didn’t see anything make the connection.

“Is...this some kind of magical weapon that shoots magic that can’t be seen…?”

Myasnik could help but give a light chuckle at that. That was adorable. He sits up and motions her over.

“You want to give it a go?”

She widens her eyes with a small smile, clearly excited about the idea.

    “C-could I?”

He nods and pats the spot where he was laying. She makes her way over and takes the gun carefully into her hands. Myasnik climbs on top of her and straddles above her back, this startles her a bit

    “W-what are you..?”

“I need to show you how to use the prone position correctly, I am afraid this is the only way since...well you are much bigger than I.”

She gives a light ‘oooh’ then nods. Myasnik reaches over and places his hands above hers, lightly guiding then along the gun’s length and placing her hands on the right spots and brings the butt of the gun to her shoulder. He lightly placed his index finger over hers just above the trigger.

“Now, look through the scope here. And focus on the target. You want to hit the innermost circle. Hit that and you get a perfect shot. Before you shoot however, take a deep breath, take it nice and easy. And when you are ready to shoot, hold your breath and steady your aim, then squeeze the trigger.”

She nods, very nervous about this first shot, her heart was beating heavily. So much that Myasnik could feel it against his chest. He brings his left index finger to her neck and presses down on a pressure point gently.

“Calm down...breathe. Only when you take the shot is when you hold your breath.”

When he pressed down on the pressure point, she could feel her heart rate dropping and her mind calming. She nods and gives it full focus. She squeezes the trigger.

    BANG!

The bullet hit the second innermost circle. She takes in a gasp of joy and smiles widely. Myasnik was greatly impressed with her first shot.

    “AH! I almost got it!”

The way she said that, like a child finding out something amazing for the first time, was absolutely adorable. Myasnik gave a half smile

“Not bad princess. But remember, this is a weapon for killing. While it is fun to shoot at fake targets, remember this is used for taking lives.”

Myasnik didn’t want to ruin her fun, but he felt he had to make it clear. Eventually she helped him finish off the last bit of ammo he had. He packed everything up and began to head back to Ponyville. She called out to him.

    “Myasnik!”

    “Hm?”

“Happy hearth’s Warming Eve….and thank you it was surprisingly fun.”

“Yeah, take care princess. Happy Hearth's Warming Eve to you as well.”

With that, she vanishes, and Myasnik makes his way back.
