Chapter 7: The Pegasus Special
Previous Chapter Next ChapterTime to pay Rarity a visit.
"Why did I agree to this?" said Rainbow, sighing.
"Trust me, Dashie. This is worth it," I said as we came up to Carousel Boutique. I knocked on the door.
"Coming," said Rarity in a happy tone. The door opened. "Welcome to Carousel Boutique. Hello, Green, Rainbow."
"I wanted to show Rainbow that presentation is just as good as speed when it comes to a performance and the two can go together very well," I said.
"I wager you two would like a Pegasus Special each, then? Of course. Right this way," Rarity said as we followed. Rainbow was still nervous on how things would go. I knew she'd be in for a big surprise. We sat in chairs ahead of sinks.
"Sit back and relax. I'll take care of everything," said Rarity. "You may rest while I work." We proceeded to take a nap.
"All done. Stunning if I do say so myself," said Rarity. We stood up, half asleep and Rainbow was the first to speak,"Oh yeah. I never asked what a Pegasus Special is."
With a flip of her mane, Rarity told her. "Well, you're hardly the first of your type to come through my establishment, Rainbow Dash. My Pegasus Special is a one-of a kind grooming procedure that helps to keep ponies at their most aerodynamic."
"Aerody-" Rainbow Dash rushed back to the mirror. Now fully awake, she could see just what Rarity meant as she gasped at the positively glowing pony which stared back at her through the glass.
Her coat was smooth, her cutie mark was perfect, and every single color of her mane and tail stood out, vying for equal attention, radiating in the light. She shook both, and saw them move effortlessly in the air without the slightest tangle. Every single strand had been cared for on an individual level. Rainbow Dash knew that Rarity was dedicated to her work, but she had no idea it had gone this far.
I looked too and It was the same for me too.
Before Rainbow could ask how Rarity did it, the unicorn answered for her, as if on cue. "A special order of combing, brushing, air-fluffing, and laying down a coat of my super-special, super-secret, and completely organic straightening mixture." Rarity walked over to meet her latest satisfied customer. "As part of the package, wings are streamlined."
Rainbow Dash spread hers, and it was true--she'd never seen her span so, so... symmetrical, so precise! "Whoa, razor's edge! I hadn't even noticed this part!"
Rarity chuckled. "Most pegasus ponies don't as they're usually asleep, much like you were."
I walked over and I said, "Told yeah so." We all sat down.
"I guess you did. I...really never take looking good as a priority. I always wanted to be fast but I guess looking good is as important and both can be done," said Rainbow. "Sorry I doubted you, Green."
"It's natural to have doubt; I was when I tried too. I was just as surprised as you are. It really helps being fast and looks good. Two for the price of one..." I began mumbling "...Grandma" under my breath.
"Thanks, Rarity. I'm glad I came," said Rainbow.
"I'm glad you liked it, dear," said Rarity. We began to leave as Rainbow and I kissed. We left and flew up to test the RS.
"Ladies first," I said as she began to fly. She already noticed a significance in speed. I joined shortly after. We flew for hours and Rarity just kept a smile on her face watching us have fun.
"The Pegasus Special, I assume?" Spike asked, coming out of the building.
"Yes, Spiky. They love it," she said as they entered the boutique. I had a feeling we'd go there more often now.
I made it shorter and more direct as well as less grief.
