"Hi, Bon Bon..."

"Bon Bon, we’re sitting inside a taxi right now. Listen, we need to talk… If you're there, pick up. I much rather talk to you than this robot."

Silence

“I think you should just say it, Rarity…”

"Hmmm. How can I say it? It’s going to be hard for you to hear, since you knew them so well. Honestly, it shakes me to the very core to even be relaying this news. But, it seems as though I must be the messenger. I’m sorry, but Lyra and Colgate are dead… They were in a car accident."

"They found them by a huge rock after they were flung fr-...”

“Shhh- you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to, Sweetie.”

“Okay...”

“Bon Bon, they’re both gone. I’m sorry for your loss. We’ll be arriving at your house in a little bit."

"Bye, B-"

“Bon Bon! My, I’m so glad I finally reached you! It’s Octavia. Something has happened to Rarity and Sweetie Belle. If you’re not already driving to the hospital, go now. I’m already heading there in a taxi. I think it’s serious, so hurry.”

“Ma’m? Do you want me to run this light?”

“What do you think? I paid you to get me there as fast as possible! Do your job!”

        “Okay… Your bits anyway.”

“Sigh, I’ll see you at the hosp-”

“Bon Bon, nopony will help her. She’s just laying there, bleeding… Nopony is helping Octavia off the road…”

Deep breaths mixed with bawling fills the background. Sirens blare in the distance.

“So much glass and smoke. I’m not sure if anypony else made it out of the car...”

        “Scootaloo?”

        “Yeah?”

        “Should we go check?”

        -----

Bon Bon stretched as the morning sun shined through her window. The beams struck her face and urged her to leave her bed.

“Fine, fine.” she lifted a hoof in the air between her and the window as she opened her eyes.

She chucked herself out of bed and landed on the floor with a slight thud. She pulled herself back up and grumbled with annoyance as she left her happiness at the foot of her bed.

As she stepped out of the hallway, she took note of the eerie calmness that washed over both herself and her surroundings.

“Wonder whe-” Bon Bon yawned as she started her coffee brewer, “-where Lyra is.”

        She’s normally up by now…

Bon Bon stood beside the counter and laid her head next to the cup sitting under the brewer’s nozzle. She watched as coffee flowed out of the nozzle and slowly filled her cup.

Once the coffee stopped, she pulled out the cup and carried it with her as she stumbled across the room. She entered the living room and spotted her phone. She sat down on one of the couches at the end of the room and sipped at her coffee. She couldn’t help but glance at her phone each time the red light at the top of it blinked.

Eventually, she sighed before she placed her drink down on a nearby table and got up to check the messages. She clicked the voicemail button on her phone.

“Hey Bon Bon! It’s Lyra! I’m com-”

        “And Colgate…”

Bon Bon clicked the button again and stepped away from the phone. She walked back over to the table and picked up her coffee before she entered the kitchen again. Setting her drink on the table, she walked over to the fridge and opened it.

Rummaging through the fridge, she pulled out a small tube of ready-to-bake biscuits. She set the tube down next to her drink and closed the fridge before reaching over to a cabinet above the stove.

After obtaining a metal baking tray, Bon Bon set it down on top of the stove. Returning to her drink, she gulped the rest of it down before she grabbed the tube. She smashed it against the side of her counter to crack it open and its contents splattered onto the tray.

Hungry and ready to eat, Bon Bon reached forward and turned the switch for the gas oven. She opened the stove and placed the tray inside.

Her hoof held her up as her other grabbed a box of matches nearby. She opened it and leaned forward to grab the match between her teeth before striking it against the matchbox.

The flame ignited and continued to flicker as her eyes lazily watched. She took a moment to relax in the serenity of the moment before she lowered herself to the oven door. Her hoof let go of the side of the counter and fell to the floor before she leaned in to light the gas burners.

As she leaned towards the burners, she took slight joy in the distinct odor of propane that she’s worked with ever since she started baking.

        Boom.
