"It's our paradise, and it's our war zone."
-Zayn Malik {Pillowtalk}
Shining Armor felt different around Sombra. Even though Sombra had taken over the Chrystal Empire and separated Shining Armor from his wife. He felt strange around him. Shining, for one thing, found it odd that all the other ponies in the monarchy were taken prisoner, while Shining Armor was asked to stay. Out of all people, if Sombra could kill anyone it would be him. Or so Shining Armor thought.
Life with Sombra was weird and awkwardly moving forward. They rarely spoke, since Shining was normally in his room studying these days. Anything to get away from Sombra. Occasionally, if they passed in the halls, Sombra would nod, while Shining would try and keep his cool and ignore him. Shining didn't hate him, it was just from the secret messages he had received from his wife, she had suggested staying away from him.
So Shining spent most of his time in a guest room, that he claimed as a study and a room all for himself. He had put a few pictures of his family under his bed and bookshelves everywhere. It was quite simple, a room with a very boring vibe, nothing too eye catching. Shining also had a balcony. It was small, but he could see the whole dark, gray Chrystal Empire. The world seemed so gray to Shining Armor. And he couldn't change it, sadly.
"What to write?" Shining Armor thought, as he was writing in his personal log. So far he had:
April, 17
8:45 PM {Chrystal Time Zone}
Today has been quite normal, being held hostage as Sombra. To be honest, he isn't ruling the country to badly at the moment. But, oh,the longing for my wife and daughter to be with me. They are forced to live in this hellhole, under the watch of guards every 24 hours, forced to eat, and analyzed everyday to make sure they aren't going to betray the new king. They plan to break free soon, and make it to Canterlot, which is still free and ruled by Celestia. I do hope they make it safely and...
Shining Armor couldn't think of what else to mention. It seemed as if all his thoughts were disappearing. Shining Armor thought hard. The only thing he could think of was Sombra. Not like he usually did, but a soft yet hard, instinct like way. It wasn't normal. Finally giving up, Shining Armor decided that maybe he should leave his gray room and maybe get something to eat. Since his stomach was churning and growling like a bear at this point. He felt as if he had to satisfy it.
Leaving his room, he chopped through the halls. The doors and lights in the hallway were endless. Even though he had lived here before, it was so unfamiliar. So different, ever since Sombra had taken it over. Shining Armor then thought to himself,"Stop thinking about him. He's the enemy remember?"
As if by destiny, Shining Armor heard a deep and fluent voice behind him,"See you've finally stopped isolating yourself."
Shining Armor turned around, his face clearly showing his annoyance."What do you want?" He aggressively asked.
"Pity, pity." Sombra teased getting closer."I was hoping you'd finally relapse what I want."
"Stop with your stupid games, Sombra." Shining Armor said.
"That's King, Sombra to you." Sombra replied, losing his calm and sounding a bit forceful.
"You don't own me." Shining Armor mumbled.
Shining Armor could feel the sweat dripping down his clean, white coat. If only he could keep calm like Sombra. He just needed to focus! That's all!
"What was that?" Sombra teased.
"Nothing." The white stallion grunted.
"Good." Sombra said, leaving. He then added,"And just so you know. You are mine. You are mine just as this kingdom is, and just as the crown on my head. You are simply an object, another possession of mine. And just like my other possessions, I can throw you away if necessary."
Shining Armor responded,"Yes sir."
"That's better." Sombra told Shining Armor, as he walked off.
Shining Armor waited until he couldn't hear the noise of Sombra's metal boots against the ground, then continued to the kitchen. He was able to steal a few carrots. Shining Armor swiftly returned to his small study that he called home. Feeling safe in his quarters, he began to write in his journal again,
...Soundly. But according to Sombra, he sees me as an object, not a pony. And quote him,"I can throw you away." Then why would he want me, if he could just throw me away. It isn't adding up.
Sincerely,
Captain Shining Armor
After putting his quill down with his magic, he flopped into his gray bed. His head resting against the pillow. He tried his best to let go of all his worries. And before he knew it, he was asleep with dreams of Sombra in his mind. Dreams, that contained something far more than war strategy, but of soft, beautiful things Shining Armor knew he could never have. Ever.
It was around dinner time, and like always Sombra was at some glorious feast with his allies. Overcome with curiousity, Shining Armor decided to look through Sombra's room. Shining Armor crept through,p the halls, the voices of laughter could be heard. Amongst the noice, he could hear the evil and maiachal laugh of Sombra. Clearly, someone at the table had told a really good joke.
"Why am I doing this?" Shining Armor wondered as he finally found the door that lead to Sombra's room.
The door was right in front of it. But opening it, seemed such a challenge. It was intimidating, even though this had once been Shining Armor and his wife's room. Taking a deep breath, Shining Armor used his magic to open the door. The door let out a creak, but it was so faint that no one in the Great Hall could here. More importantly, Sombra couldn't hear it.
Looking inside he realized the room was just like his, dull and gray. The only color was the large, king sized bed, with red sheets on it. On the walls, hung weapons and maps of the empire. Shining Armor walked in, closing the door behind him, to get a better look. The room was just the same from inside. Shining did see a balcony, much larger than his own. And with a far more elaborate view too. It must've been nice to sleep here.
Shining Armor then saw there was a desk. Taking hold of the moment, he went up to it, seeing that Sombra had all sorts of papers out. Most were just battle plans, sketches of the kingdom, but one book really stood out: How to Flatter a Stallion. Shining Armor blushed at the cover, two very attractive stallions walking side by side. Shining Armor opened it and read the table of contents:
-Find the Perfect Stallion
-Confessing
-Coming Out as Gay
-How to Flatter Him
-How to Kiss Him
-How to Mantain Healthy Relationship
Shining Armor then saw a shiny, red bookmark sticking out of the book. He flipped to it to see the page marked was, How To Kiss Him. Shining Armor let out a chuckle, but then he heard footsteps, and he knew it was Sombra by the clink of his boots. Thinking quickly, Shining Armor hid under the bed. The door then opened. It was Sombra!
Peeking out, Shining watched as Sombra took of his crown, showing his shiny, black mane. Shining Armor then blushed as he watched Sombra strip off his clothes, and step into the bathroom. Shining Armor felt himself turning red at the sight. He continued waiting, until he knew for certain that Sombra was in the shower, then left.
But before leaving, Shining Armor grabbed a very important artifact, How to Flatter A Stallion.
