The air was pierced with the sound of the train whistle as it had pulled into the train station of the Crystal Empire. Twilight Sparkle and all hoped off of the train. She had come to the Empire for her first Princess Summit. She looked up at the Crystal palace, marveling at the elegant structure.

“You’re very first Princess Summit.” Applejack said as she trotted alongside the purple alicorn. “How do you feel Twilight?”

“Just a little nervous.” Twilight said. “But over all I’m still pretty excited about it.”

“That’s called being nervouscited!” Pinkie Pie said, chiming in.

Everypony and Spike looked at the pink Earth Pony.

“That’s called what now?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“It’s when you’re really excited.” Pinkie Pie explained. “When you go jumping up down and shouting, YAY ME!” She explained by jumping up and down. She then stopped jumping. “But it’s also when you get so nervous you want to curl up into a teeny tiny ball and hide at the same!” Pinkie then demonstrated. She then stood back up and rushed over to Twilight and rustled her mane. “Everypony has been there at one point!”

“There is no reason for you to get all nervous, darling.” Rarity said as she approached her friend. “Everything will be…”

Suddenly Rarity stopped talking as he eyes burst from her head.

“Twilight!” She shouted. “Where’s your crown? Please tell me you didn’t leave it back in Ponyville did you?!”

“It’s in her bag.” Spike said as he patted the wheeled suitcase.

“In that case, why aren’t you wearing it?” Rarity asked, much more calmly now. “Why if I were a princess, I would wear it everywhere, even in the bath.”

Twilight chuckled.

“I’m sure you would.” She said. “I’m just a little self conscious wearing it.”

She then spread her newly acquired wings.

“Besides, I haven’t gotten used to having these either.”

She then tried to hover a couple feet above the ground, but suddenly fell with a thud.

“Don’t worry, Twi, you’ll get used to it.” Rainbow Dash said. “After all, Fluttershy got good at flying.”

Fluttershy nodded in agreement with a smile.

“We know you can.”

The doors to the throne room opened inward. Before the doors were completely open, the room was suddenly filled with the sound of trumpets, welcoming the new Princess, played by many crystal guards who were lined from the doors to the throne where Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Shining Armor waited.

As Twilight made her way down toward the princesses, the trumpets still played. She looked around at the inside of the throne room. Despite coming here before, she never really got a good look around the palace since she and her saved the empire all that long ago.

As Twilight marveled the inside of the crystalized room, she suddenly bumped into somepony. She looked and saw that it was a Royal Guard. Unlike the others, this guard wasn’t crystal. He wore the same gold plating as the guards she was familiar with. He was an orange pegasus with blue eyes and a blue main and tail. This guard’s armor was different, as he had an additional back cloth and saddle plate, which was normally worn by unicorn guards.

The guard gave her a quick smiled before he raised his head and his left front leg.

“Presenting from Ponyville…” He announced. “…her highness, Princess Twilight Sparkle!”

He then took a step back as the Princesses and the Captain approached Twilight.

The Princesses all bowed before one another.

As they rose, the pink alicorn started to chuckle with delight.

“It’s so good to see you Twilight.” She said as she approached. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen you.”

The two then exchanged a quick hug.

“Yeah it’s great to see you Twily.” Shining Armor said. “I mean…” He cleared his throat. “…Princess Twily.” He said with a bow.

This was met by his little sister laughing.

“It’s good to see you too, Shining.” She said as she gave her older brother a hug.

“It’s great to see all of you.” Princess Celestia said.

“You all must be hungry from your journey here.” Cadence said. “So I have arranged a feast to be held.”

“Yippee!” Pinkie Pie shouted as she bounced from the behind everyone. “I’m starving!”

Cadence chuckled.

“That’s good.” She said. “I’m going to let you all get settled in first. Dinner will be in ten minutes.”

Twilight’s room was our average castle bedroom. It had a large bed, night stand with lamp, a vanity with mirror, and a dresser. Even with the furniture, it was still quite large. There even a little bed for Spike.

After Twilight put some of the books she had brought with her in one of the drawers of the vanity, she saw something shining her bag that she had recognized. Her crown. It was golden and had a large purple jewel on the very front, which was the same shape as he cuite mark.
She took the crown from the bag with her magic and placed it on her head. She looked in the mirror of the vanity. Upon seeing her reflection, she let out a sigh.

“Everything okay, Twilight?” Spike asked as he straightened the sheets of his bed.

“Celestia gave Cadence the Crystal Empire to rule over.” Twilight answered. “I’m just worried that I’ll be given the same task. I mean, what if I do get a kingdom of my own? Just because I have this crown and these wings, doesn’t mean I’ll be great leader. Right?”
Spike gave her a reassuring smile.

“Don’t worry about it.” He said. “I think you’ll be a great leader.”

“You really think so?”

“Of course.” Spike said. “After all, you help save Equestria like twice at this point. So ruling over a Kingdom would be a piece of cake compared to defeating Nightmare Moon or Discord.”

Twilight let a calm smiled form across her face. She then patted her assistant on the head.

“Thank you Spike.” She said. “Now come on. Let’s get some dinner before Pinkie eats all of the cakes.”

Spike chuckled.

“Right behind ya.”

As Twilight opened the door, she immediately bumped into somepony. She looked and saw that it was the guard from before.

“I apologize, Princess.” He said with regret in his voice.

“It’s alright.” Twilight said assuringly. “Is there something you need?”

“Princess Cadence sent me to collect you.” He said. “Mind if I walk you?”

“Of course, lead the way.” Twilight said. “Mainly because I don’t really know where the dining room is.”

Twilight followed the orange stallion down hall with Spike in toe.

“What’s your name anyway?” Spike asked.

“Flash Sentry.” The guard answered. “I just joined the guard recently.”

“That might explain why you’re not all crystalized and everything.” Spike said.

Flash Sentry then looked over Twilight.

“And I must say it’s really nice to meet you Princess.” He said. “Captain Armor told me a lot about you. And I must say…”

He then stopped and turned towards Twilight.

“…thank you saving Equestria.” He said. “If it hadn’t been for you, Equestria wouldn’t be the same.”

Twilight blushed. She looked at the guard in the eye and smiled, causing him to blush as well.

A look of realization came upon Flash’s face.

“I should probably get you to the dining room.” He said. “Don’t want the food to get cold, you know.”

Twilight then snapped out of it.

“Oh, of course.” She said. “Lead on.”

Sorry if this chapter was a tad short. I didn't want to waste any upcoming action or tension on the first chapter.
