Chapter I

-Fleet: Whiskey 5/ Military weapons development facility, Antarctica 0400 hours GMT/ 2/25/2037-

“Captain Glen Webster, the transport is ready for departure, Sir.” A man about the age of 27 reported from behind.

“Huh... alright uh…?” Glen responded, a little startled by the voice.

“Lieutenant Henry Teller sir.”

“Alright then, you’re taking me to the facility?”

“Yes sir.”

“Good lets go.”

The two briskly walked to the V-22 Osprey prepped for departure. While inside, the Captain confronted the Lieutenant with a simple question.

“What am I doing here?”

“Well the fleet you’re on is going to be outfitted with the facilities secret new toy.”

“Which is?”

“The S.R.G.”

“What the hell is a S.R.G.?”

“Don’t worry, you’ll see what it is very soon,” the conversation quickly ended when an out-of-the-blue transmission echoed over their radios.

“This is the USS Gerald P. Griffin, we can’t evacuate England fast enough, the Germans are overrunning our position and closing us into the shore so we can be picked off by costal artillery. We have lost all of the 28 evacuation ships, our destroyers, and heavy cruisers. Our only choice is to overload our nuclear reactor to injure these S.O.B.’s… Goodbye.”, complete silence filled the craft for what seemed like an hour until the pilot broke the silence.

“We are at facility base Delta-Kilo, this where you get off sirs.”

They where greeted by an icy wasteland environment with large metal building’s spread out, but centered around a quite large airfield littered with cargo planes and long range bombers. At the closest building there stood a tall man wearing a slouch hat leaning on a transport truck. He spoke with a deep Australian accent.

“The name’s Dr. Daniel Atkinson, mate. You must be the Cap that I was sent to welcome. So welcome to winter-wonderland, the coldest base of the American military.”

“Um… yes I’m Captain Glen Webster and this is Lieutenant Henry Telper.”

“Henry! Well I’ll be, how’s it been in the jungles of South America surviving the Jerries advancements through Brazil?”

“Absolutely shitty Doctor," Henry chuckled grimly. "We didn’t know what the hell we where doing, like you said we where just surviving until we got evacuated.”

“Oh, okay well since you already now each other. Doctor, what is the S.R.G.?”

“Ah, so you want to see the Seismic Rail-Gun, do yah? Follow me.”

They got into a troop transport truck and headed down the icy road to the weapons testing area.

“So, Doctor did you here that transmission on the radios?”

“Oh yes, that’s just terrible what its coming to in this war. So many men are dying because of those German bastards. But, hopefully we will get the upper hand with this new weapon of ours. Good where here, lets go test It.”, With great excitement the doctor leaped out of the truck being quickly followed by the Lieutenant and the Captain who still wanted to what the hell this thing was. When Glen walked up to it, this weird looking artillery emplacement. The back of it looked like an enlarged tank turret with two 30 ft. long metal poles with seven metal rings in between the poles.

“You ready for a test fire Captain?” The Doctor urged with great enthusiasm.

“Fine, but what happens when it fires?”

“Hell if I know, this is the first time it will fired.”

“Firing S.R.G.” echoed over the intercom of the entire area.

“Wait, what…”

A huge flash of piercing whiteness blinded him as well as the force knocking him about twenty feet backwards.

-A bedroom in a medium sized tree hut bordering a dense forest-

‘…Ugh, that was the strangest dream ever. What where those things? Well it's just a dream so it was probably nothing,’ Dash thought to herself while poking her head out from under the covers.

“Good morning Rainbow,” A sweet yet still tired voice spoke to her from across the room. “I brought you some coffee I made myself.”

“Hmph…”

“Okay then I’ll just have to give this sweet, delicious, wonderful coffee to Angel bunny.”

“Hmph… fine I guess I’ll have some,” She lazily fell out of bed and dragged herself towards the sweet smell of the warm coffee.

“Ugh, what time is it?”

“Um about 7 I think.” Fluttershy thought as she set the coffee on the ground for Rainbow to drink.

“This coffee is so good, why is everything you make terrific?” Sipping through a straw since she didn’t the magical abilities of unicorn ponies.

“Well I guess its just natural…”

“Wait! It’s seven!?” Cutting her off mid sentence, now fully awake as if she was splashed with a bucket of cold water. “I have weather duties at 6! Now they’re going to fire me!” breaking into a full uncontrollable panicking state on the verge of tears. But then all was silenced by Fluttershy giving her a full on hug and sweetly hushing her.

“Don’t worry Rainbow, you have this entire week off from work.”

“I… I do?”

“Yes, and we can spend all that time together, just you and me.” Fluttershy responded, kissing her softly on the cheek affectionately.

“So why did you wake me up any way if I’m not even working?”

“Well just because you don’t have work doesn’t mean you can’t help me with taking care of the animals.”

“Fine… or, I could perfect a bunch of my tricks.” Turning from grumpy to excited. ”Yeah, that could totally work, I can do that, and you can do your animal stuff here at home. See you later tonight, I love you.” With a quick kiss she went flying out the door and into the sky with a peppy disposition.

“I… I love you too, ugh, so much for spending time together. Or remembering or our three month anniversary,” She said to herself, staring at the floor with a sad yet pissed off attitude.

-A Military Infirmary-

‘Beep… beep… beep… beep…’

“Hmmm… where… am I?” Waken up by the steady beeps of the heart monitor

“Oh good, you’re awake and okay, you had quite a little tumble from the force of the test fire.” The Doctor chuckled.

“So, it uh… blew up?”

“Of coarse not, it was actually very successful, you where just in a bad spot to be watching.”

“It was successful? Are you sure? I… I mean it doesn’t seem safe, I don’t really want it on one of the ships of the fleet.”

“Oh, well it’s too late for objections, we already installed it into the cruiser ‘Burning Winter’ while you where out cold… pun not intended, of coarse.”

“Already installed? I thought I was sent here to say if it would be in the fleet?”

“Nope, that’s the say of the Admiral. You where sent because the Admiral, or your uncle, wanted you to make friends or something like that.”

“Make friends!? This is fucking crazy, why the hell would I need to make friends! We are in a fucking war, and my uncle thinks I should get friends? I had friends, now their dead because of me, why would I want more friends.”

“Well you do make a good point. But you need reliable people to help you, and if you don’t have anyone, your screwed, so getting friends is you do need. I for one am really friendly and so is the lieutenant, he’s the one who dragged you from the testing area to the infirmary. Oh and also, we are coming you to Africa to show those Jerries what, mate.” After that little speech, the captain took a few seconds to think it over and then responded with a smile.

“Alright, fine, lets go exterminate the Germanic parasites ‘till they beg for mercy,” He said, smiling with a get some kinda attitude.

-Bridge of the USS Charles J. Pendleton-

“Is everything ready?”

“Yes Admiral.”

“Good, full steam ahead then.”

“Yes sir.” With a salute, and a radio to the other ships the fleet was off.

-Flight deck of USS Charles J. Pendleton-

“Well Glen I’m quite excited to be on the open sea again. The last time I was headed to the facility, about 5 years ago.”

“Wow, you’ve been here for quite a while then, huh. Say what are those other four ships that are with us?”

“Well two of those are L.S.D.’s, and the others are research ships ‘Exploration and Charisma’.”

“Oh, well why do we need them?”

“We need them for study on the effects of the S.R.G. on the German ships and bunkers.”

The entire fleet sailed on until one of the officers in the bridge caught something strange coming up ahead.

-Bridge-

“Sir… there’s something really weird up ahead right in front of us.”

“Hmm, it’s probably nothing.”

“But sir… its glowing different colors and I’m not sure what to make of it.”

“Well its too late to change directions, we’ve already started into it so I guess we’ll find out what it is.” The ships slowly drifted into the fog not sure what was ahead, mostly relying on the radar to go through it.

-Flight deck-

“What are those flashing colors up above us?”

“Well Glen, after six years of studying Meteorology I can tell you, absolutely nothing, I don’t have any idea of what it is.”

“Oh, well okay.”

-Bridge-

Back in the bridge the staff was encountering more problems due to this strange happening. “The radars gone blank, the G.P.S. is saying we’re in the North Pacific, and the compass is just broken.” The confusion was running wild throughout the bridge until one of the communication officers got a transmission from the destroyer USS Inferno.

“Sir the ‘Inferno’ has just got out of the fog… and they’re saying it doesn’t look like the North Pacific.” Quickly, the ships came out of the fog into an ocean that didn’t seem like any of theirs. The coastal trees were a lot more different then the ones of Alaska and the temperature rose drastically making all the staff and crewmen change out of their heavy winter clothing. Then again a bridge officer spotted something very strange in the air.

“What the… what is that? Give me some binoculars.” Within seconds he was focused in on the object, his hands started to tremble something awful. “That can’t be… those aren’t real…”

“What the hell is it?” The Admiral said impatiently. The officer could only tremble and stare at this far object. So the Admiral swiftly took the binoculars and stared intently at the object until he was also trembling.

“A… a dragon? No… no that doesn’t make sense. Get the Captain Webster and Dr. Atkinson right now.” The officers scrambled away and in a few minutes a Captain and a Doctor showed up with a confused look on their faces.

“Why did you need us in such a hurry?” Glen asked even more confused with the worried look of the Admiral.

“Well you probably already know that we have no idea where we are. To make it worse, we might not even be on Earth anymore.”

“What gave you that impression?”

“I’m not sure how to really put this… I mean it is going to sound pretty damn crazy…”

“Just tell us what the hell it is,” The Captain interrupted, growing even more impatient.

“About 5minutes ago we saw a dragon… yes, a dragon flying about 1,000 feet above us, I don’t think it noticed us, cause it just kept flying.”

“You’re joking. You have be joking, there’s no way that you saw a fucking dragon flying above us.”

“I don’t know, the Admiral seems pretty serious about this. I think he actually saw one.”

“You’re both crazy, they are not real,” Glen said not wanting to be wrong.

“Here is a picture of it, I knew you would object to it so I got proof.” The Admiral said handing the picture with a smirk of I’m right and your wrong.

“That could be anything.”

“Oh bullshit, you know it is real but you’re too stubborn to admit it.”

“Whatever, I still think it isn’t real, so yeah.” Glen crossing his arms and looking away like a small child.

“You are to much of a pain to argue with, so yeah too you too.”

“So… are we going to send out a recon drone to see where we are exactly?” Dr. Daniel intervening by changing the subject.

“Yes we are, we are prepping it for take off. There it is now,” He said, pointing at the UAV lifting into the air.

-Fluttershy’s house-

At about 4 in the afternoon, the cute yellow Pegasus pony decided to relax and read a novel ‘Lost on a Mountain in Mane’. Her reading abruptly ended as Rainbowdash came flying through her open window and crashing into her chair.

“Whoa, I probably should have had better control with coming through the window.”

“Why did you come through the window?” Flutter shy asked a bit angry.

“Well I just out of the blue decided to go through the window, why did I scare you?”

“Kind of, yeah.”

“Oh… well… sorry. But anyway uhm… you wanna go out to dinner?”

“You’ve been out all day. Why do you want to go out for dinner?”

“Well I just wanted to give you break and spend some time with you out on the town. Plus I can’t cook so that’s another reason. And its our anniversary of three months since we've been together, I'm sorry I forgot.”

“Well at least you remembered it on the day of the anniversary. So where are we going?”

“What about that sports bar in Cloudsdale?”

“I don’t really feel like going to that kind of restaurant. Maybe something a bit more fancy?”

“Fine but not too fancy. We could look for something in Cloudsdale.”

“Okay lets go.” Before they left Fluttershy left some carrots for her bunny Angel and a note saying they where going to be out late. The two pegasi then flew to Cloudsdale to look for a good restaurant. While in Cloudsdale Fluttershy led Rainbowdash to a small diner she used to go to with her family when she was a filly.

“This is Patty’s Diner, it isn’t fancy like I originally wanted, but I just remembered their amazing sandwiches and I haven’t had one in a long time.”

“Well if you say its good then it has to be really good.”

“I did get my cooking skills from here since my family was close to the owner.” As the two ponies walked into the diner Fluttershy was greeted with great joy from the chef/owner.

“Fluttershy! Great happiness fills me when you come. Great time too. I just got new stove and sandviches are even better than before.” He spouted out with a Stalliongrad accent.

“Its great to see you too Patty. This is Rainbow Dash, my mare-friend.”

“I saw you in newspaper months ago. You made a… um… Sonic-rainboom. Then next month in newspaper again you made big recovery from big crash. You are very lucky to have Fluttershy.”

“I know I am,” Dash looked at her partner with a smile and kissed her on the cheek.

“You two are good couple. I see happy future for you. Now I give two sandviches, on the house. That sound good?”

“That would be very nice of you Patty.”

“Anything for you Little Yellow,” He cooked some sandwiches and the two ate and graciously thanked Patty and where on their way. While flying back they decided to play tag hoping from cloud to cloud, pouncing on each other and kissing. They then decided to lie down on a small cloud and watch Celestia’s sun lower down while snuggling.

“Fluttershy?”

“Yes Rainbow?”

“Have ever thought about what it would be like if we had a foal. If we could of coarse”

“Sometimes. I haven’t put too much thought into it but I think it would be a wonderful experience.”

“What if Twilight had a spell that could make one of us pregnant with our genes combined to make our own foal.”

“That would be amazing. But the chances of her having a reproduction spell of that kind would very unlikely.”

“Yeah, you’re probably right, but if she had…” Dash paused, squinting, trying to get a good view of something far away.

“What?” Fluttershy asked quite confused on what Dash was doing.

“What in Celestia is that thing?”

“What thing? What are you looking at?” Fluttershy was getting a bit nervous.

“You stay here, I’m going to see what that thing is.”

“No. I’m coming with you. I’m just as curious as you are.”

“Fine. Jeez when did you get as stubborn as Applejack? Don’t answer that let's just go,” They flew towards the area of the object. Dash was restricted speed by staying with Fluttershy. The object was finally getting close enough so Dash and Fluttershy could fully see it.

“What is that thing? It looks like a gray metal dragon, but its wings aren’t moving.”

“It has a little dome at the bottom of its head.” As they got even closer to it, they noticed even more strange qualities of this metal dragon. It had no eyes, mouth, or limbs, and it had fire coming out a cylinder at the back of it. It also had strange sharp objects under its wings and the little dome was moving around in different directions.

“This thing is really weird, I don’t think it sees us so lets follow it some more.”

“Oh I don’t know, it looks pretty scary and it could be dangerous.”

“C’mon Fluttershy, where’s your sense of adventure. Plus even if you don’t want to follow it you would have to because it’s headed right towards home.” Fluttershy thought over what Dash said and realized that the maybe dangerous thing was headed right for her friends.

“Oh no! We need to warn Ponyville!” She zoomed off leaving Rainbow Dash in awe of her great speed. Dash quickly snapped out of it and zoomed off to catch up to her.

“Wait up Fluttershy!”

-UAV command station-

The operator was observing the screen for any signs of civilization in this area when he caught something flying past the drone. ‘What was that? It kind of… looked like a pony. It couldn't have been. Well… I heard they saw a dragon or something a few hours ago. There’s another one, it’s a bluish color. Huh.’ He thought to himself before telling his commander.

“Sir I spotted two unusual organic objects flying by the drone at fast speeds. Permission to follow?”

“Permission granted, we have enough fuel for about four hours before it need to return.”

“Yes sir,” The pilot turned the craft towards the ponies and followed them towards Ponyville.

-Just outside Ponyville-

“Where did you get so much speed all the sudden?”

“The safety of my friends is very important to me. That thing could seriously hurt them.”

“How do you know? It could be friendly. Remember how we overreacted when Zecora came. Sure we could tell them about it, but we don’t need to say it’s a dangerous monster.” Dash explained and Fluttershy felt embarrassed remembering the Zecora experience.

“You’re right, I’m sorry,” Looking up at Dash with deep sad eyes.

“It’s okay,” Dash said as she nuzzled her. “Lets go tell them.” The two ponies flew to the closest friend, which was Twilight, the purple unicorn pony that lived in the library with her assistant Spike the baby dragon.

“Oh hello, what brings you two here?” She asked intently since they where panting as they burst into the door.

Fluttershy was the first to catch a breath and speak. “We were flying back from Cloudsdale and we saw this weird gray flying metal thing that was flying in this general direction.

“A weird gray metal flying metal thing? What did it exactly look like?”

“It kind of looked like a dragon but its wing weren’t moving and it had small dome on the bottom.”

“Hmm… that does sound weird. Was it dangerous?”

“We don’t know. We just flew off and came here to tell you.”

“Did it follow you?”

“I don’t think so. We flew off before it saw us, I think?”

“I think it did,” Rainbowdash said as she stared out the door looking into the sky and pointing. The other two peeked out as well and saw the UAV flying in circles above the town.

-UAV command-

“Holy crap,” The pilot said staring into his monitor. His commander came over and stared in awe at the video on the monitor.

“Are those… ponies? They’re all over the place in this little town. We need to tell someone right now.” He quickly ran to the radio and called the Admiral to come down and see what they saw.

“What are you seeing?” As he rushed into the command center.

“Look for yourself,” The Commander said pointing at the monitor. The Admiral gave him a questioned look and walked over to the monitor surrounded by the officers. “What the hell? The whole town is populated by ponies.” The Admiral took another look at the monitor and called over the Commander and told him to send the location of the town to flight command. “I want a recon team flown to the town and investigate it.”

“Yes sir.”
