After the eventful week at Camp Everfree, Twilight Sparkle and her seven friends return home to enjoy the rest of the Summer however they wish. Despite of not having the fulfillment of a 'magic-free' experience at camp, the girls have gained great benefits: superpowers to say the least. Twilight herself had even overcome her fear of becoming Midnight Sparkle again and took on a purer transformation, thanks to the belief and faith in her friends. She has even found matching chemistry with Timber Spruce; who just happens to be the brother of Camp Everfree's director, Gloriosa Daisy.

For once in her life, Twilight has never felt this much happiness at all and believes that nothing won't be able to bring her down as long as her friends are there by her side. If only she knew that the being that she thought she had broke free of once and for all was planning on making it all crash down on her.

Exiled from Twilight's own mind, Midnight Sparkle is forced to roam the earth as a specter hiding out in the shadows, watching every move Twilight and her friends make. Listening to every nauseating positive word that comes out of each and every one of their mouths. It's all too much for her to stand as she waits for an opening to strike and forge her final vengeance. Fortunately for her and unfortunate for the friends... the opportunity comes after one of the girls' traditional slumber parties.

When she succeeds at completing the first step of her plans which is a full-body possession in one of the girls who helped Twilight overcome her without too much of a hassle; this could only be the beginning of a downfall for Twilight, her friends, their world... and even their own lives.
