CHAPTER ONE

Stardust ignored the disgusted stares and whispers as she walked through the village of Pegasus holding a basket of fruit and vegetables. She didn’t get why they bothered with her, if they didn’t like her way give her more attention than she needed.

“Hey fang-face what are you doing near us actual Pegasus” A green colored Pegasus sneered standing in her path with a few others behind him “I don’t see why Knight shield lets you stay here, you're obviously not normal with those bad wings and dragon eyes” Stardust put the basket down and stared

“Geez you just figure that out now? You want a prize for that?” She stated dryly angering the Pegasus

“Tch we don’t need freaks like you living here and taking our food and water”

“Just because I look different you try to act all tough and confident because you think you can take me on? Words are words and I earned my right to live here just like the rest of you and if you hate me so much why do you get in my way and talk to me” Stardust asked irritated “I’ve never caused you trouble, and I pay for my food and water for your information so if you want to start an argument with me you should get your facts right” She picked up her basket and walked away leaving a fuming Pegasus behind.

An orange coated male Pegasus with a grey mane and leaf for a cutie mark sipped some tea before glancing at the pony across from him reading a scroll.

“You're not helping yourself by angering them” He said causing Stardust to snort at that

“They’ve been been angry at me the moment I stepped foot into this village, why should I show them kindness if they treat me like an enemy” She replied

“Just give them more time to adjust to you being here” He suggested

“It’s been seven years since I moved here, I hardly doubt their attitude will change” She said bluntly “I thank you for your help with everything Knight shield but if ponies are in conflict with the other pony tribes because of their difference their attitude towards me will never change no matter what you do and say”

“The conflict is getting more tiring the longer it goes and I would like it to end before I pass to be honest, but if you want I you can leave i you want” Knight Shield said "I had hoped you staying here would help them accept new ponies"

“Maybe it’s best to wait until the conflict ends” Stardust suggested "I'll come back then to see if they've changed enough to accept me"

“Then I’ll give you enough bits to last you a long time and any other supplies you may need, and feel free to contact me if you need anything” Knight shield said with a kind smile "It's the least I could do for helping with those Timberwolves nearby"

“Why can’t ponies be smart like you? Or does being small-minded and dumb run in them only” She muttered making him chuckle awkwardly

before she got up to collect their cups “I’ll leave in three days, don’t tell anypony though”

“I’ll have everything ready for you then” Knight shield said leaving to the door and added before he left “Don’t let others get to you while you're out there Star”

“Like that every works on me” She thought until she heard on a knock on her door.

Opening she glanced around before looking down and saw a small dark blue colored filly with a moon cutie mark staring up at her with curious eyes. “Um what do you want kid?”

“Can you help get home?” The filly asked and that’s when Stardust noticed the filly not only had wings but a horn as well.

“What are you? Some Pegasus with a horn coming to bother me?” She questioned and poked the horn causing a small squeak to come from the filly “It feels real, how is that possible?” She muttered in confusion.

“That’s cause I’m an alicorn, like how your a thestral or bat-pony if that's easier!” The filly announced slapping the offending hoof away from her horn covering it with her own hooves.

“Look kid-”

“Luna! My names Luna!”

“...Luna then, I don’t know what an alicorn or thestral is but I don’t have time to take you back to your family so just ask one of the other Pegasus” Stardust attempted to push the filly away but the filly sat stubbornly where she was staring up at her glaring.

“Please take me home, mama said it’s dangerous for me to be seen by other Pegasus, unicorns and earth ponies” Luna asked

“Does it look like I care kid, why can’t you be like the other ponies and leave me alone” She replied only to see Luna giving her large watery eyes and wobbling her lip causing Stardust to sigh in defeat “Ugh fine I’ll help you but once we get near your home I’m leaving you”

“Deal!” With that Luna made her way inside while Stardust rolled her eyes at the fillies change in attitude, and closed the door. She just hoped the filly wouldn’t cause her any trouble while she was with her.

“Okay kid you say you live near a forest with your mother and older sister?” She got a nod from Luna “Then why are you here?”

“I was learning how to teleport!” She declared making Stardust blink in disbelief.

“Really? That’s an advance spell and only extremely skilled unicorns can manage that without screwing up their insides” She commented “And why trust me to take you home?” She wondered if the filly knew about stranger danger.

“Because your a thestral!” Was the answer Luna gave her.

“Can you stop calling me that, I don’t even know what a thestral is” Stardust was seriously getting annoyed that the filly hadn't explained

“Um I don’t know everything about them but my mummy does and she said I can trust them because they’ll protect me because I'll be a princess” Luna explained proudly "I met other thestrals like you, and their really nice to me!"

“...Kid I think your mum meant those that she knew and you have met, I don’t even know the first thing about what thestrals are” Stardust stated dryly "And a thestral and alicorn...you still haven't explained what they are Luna" This caused Luna’s face to lite up

“Then you can come stay with me and my family! And learn everything about thestrals” She suggested jumping up and down.

“It’s family and I, and let me think about it, so you can take my bed I’ll sleep on the couch for now” She grabbed Luna picking her up from the scruff of her neck making her squeak in surprise and made her way upstairs ignoring Luna’s protests and proceeded to drop her on the bed

“Hey why did you do that for!” Luna stated angry

“Your tiny kid, like a puppy” Stardust said smirking leaving the fuming filly in the room to get ready to sleep and heard Luna yelling as she left

“I’m not tiny!”
