Princess Emerald, Daughter of Solaris
Chapter 3: The Search for the Spell
Previous Chapter Next ChapterThe morning sun rose over the mountains in the Crystal Empire, the warmth it brought shining down through the protective barrier to bring spring inside the city against the frigid chill of the land around it. Solaris felt his inner alarm clock kick in, forcing him awake, which became a habit to him a while after he became prince. He looked down in his hooves, finding Trill sleeping peacefully with a content smile on her muzzle, her mane disheveled from their lovemaking last night. He loved the little chirping sounds she made while she slept, like a cricket, but a lot softer and calmer.
He began to remember the talk they had before he decided to get very intimate with his loving changeling wife, his grin slowly turning into a frown. If there was no chance of finding a spell to help them achieve what was impossible, he would be heartbroken. He does consider adopting a better choice if all possibilities failed, but it wouldn't feel like he would be a real father, just a surrogate one to a foal he would raise. And the latter options Trill offered by finding a mare who would carry his foal, with traits from both him and the mare who would give birth to his child and nothing from Trill, or having her find a changeling breeder in her hive to impregnate her made his stomach twist. He was loyal to Trill and wouldn't want to give his seed for a mare to willingly carry his foal until it was born, and he didn't want to raise several changeling eggs, which would be too much work for him, along with feeling insecure about those kinds of changelings' size compared to his.
Solaris shook those thoughts out of his before he wound up getting too jealous and got in a cranky mood, but the fear of a sexual reproductive spell that could work for them would ever be found or could fail still lingered. He looked down at Trill, her eyes open as she looked at him with concern.
"You're freaking out, hon," she said.
"Sorry," he apologized, always forgetting how well changelings could tell how ponies were feeling, especially from very close contact. "I didn't mean to wake you."
"You were going to at some point." Trill yawned, nuzzling her cheek into Solaris's shoulder, smirking lewdly as she brought a hoof to his chest. "And I know a good way to have a wake-up call. For both of us." Solaris rolled his eyes, but didn't do anything to stop her. He needed a distraction from the negative thoughts circling his head, and he didn't mind feeling her hoof trace small, teasing circles around his chest, gradually going lower and lower. She stopped at his stomach, surprised to see he wasn't resisting. "Not gonna say anything?"
"I sometimes don't know why I bother. Plus, I think I need something to distract me." Trill chuckled, continuing moving her hoof south as she leaned closer to kiss Solaris.
Before they even started, the doors to the bedroom slammed open, Flurry Heart flying in and surprising the couple. "Morning, Sowwy!"
Solaris quickly pulled the sheets over them, scooting away from Trill before the alicorn filly lost her innocence to what she was about to witness. "Flurry!" Flurry Heart flew up onto the bed and sat on the end of the bed, never knowing how somepony like her could have so much energy, even when waking up with the unkempt bedhead she still had. "W-What are you doing here?"
"I live here!" she answered with a giggle.
Trill grumbled, blowing a strand of her mane out of her face as their morning fun was interrupted."So much for having a good morning where he actually does want it..."
"I meant why did you barge into our room?" Solaris asked. "It's rude to just walk in one somepony without permission."
"Breakfast!" Flurry cheered, raising her hooves in the air. "Crystal berry pancakes!" Her excitement quickly disappeared as she began to sniff the air, wincing at the odd scent. "Eww. What's that stinky smell?"
Solaris blanched, not thinking clearly as evidence of his and Trill's romantic evening of intimacy after their little talk are right underneath them. He hated how the pony mind works when met with a sad or angry discussion with their spouse, then making up or compromising with a bout of sex. He couldn't think fast enough to make an excuse, seeing Flurry's curiosity begin to peak as she was about to find where it was coming from.
"That's me," Trill said. "Changelings can get a little bit sweaty sometimes when around so much love. Solly was giving me a lot last night-" She looked over at the stunned stallion, giving him a wink, somewhat hiding their nightly activity with the way she worded her statement. "-and we're both so used to my disgusting sweat that we didn't notice."
"Ohhhh," the filly said, believing the little lie.
"Tell your mommy the bed needs some clean sheets, and Solly and I will take a quick shower and meet you guys in the dining hall for breakfast. Ok?" Flurry nodded, quickly covering her nose with her forehooves and flew out of the room. As soon as she left, Trill looked over at the bewildered alicorn stallion, his eyes slowly looking over to her, relieved to have her save the day. "You're welcome."
"...You realize that when she gets older, she's going to find out you lied and know exactly what we did, right?" he asked, still very worried.
"Yeah, but right now, she'll believe anything, and we save her innocence until she becomes a teenager." The changeling giggled, not helping him at all as he feared how differently his cousin would be like within the next decade. Trill climbed out of bed and stretched, presenting her rump in his direction before heading off to the bathroom, swaying her hips to entice him. "So, you want to continue where we left off in the shower?"
"...I'll take a shower, but I think I'm distracted enough," Solaris mumbled, climbing out of bed and following the disappointed mare.
"Darn it, Flurry," Trill grumbled, thinking her morning would have been fun even when interrupted by the energetic filly, but it turned out to be ruined after all.
The rest of the day went by without anymore awkward moments, though that morning would forever haunt Solaris after Flurry Heart almost found out what he and Trill did the previous night. At breakfast, Cadence held a smirk on her face as she eyed her nephew, knowing full well exactly what they did when her daughter told her their sheets were dirty. After breakfast, Solaris continued playing with Flurry Heart, chatting with his relatives when he finally got a break, had lunch, more playing with Flurry, spending the afternoon watching a movie at the theater, though it was more suited for children as it was more appropriate for Flurry Heart to see, and having dinner back at the castle. The next day, Solaris and Trill had to head back to Canterlot, which the filly did not like at all.
"Sowwy, please don't go!" Flurry begged, grabbing onto one of his back legs tightly as they stood at the station. "Stay a bit longer!"
"Sorry, Flurry, but I've got to get back to Canterlot." She gave him a sad look and pouted. "Hey, don't give me that look. I'll come back and visit when I'm not too busy."
"Promise?" she asked.
"I promise." Solaris patted Flurry's head as she gave his leg one last hug before letting go.
Solaris and Trill entered their private car after it was set up, the train whistling as it began to leave the station and head on its route. He waved to his relatives through the window, Shining, Cadence, and a sad Flurry Heart waving back until he couldn't see them anymore. It broke his heart seeing his cousin's face when he had to leave, but he had his duties to uphold, and he will hold his promise to come back when he wasn't too busy.
"We probably should have taken her with us," Trill said as she laid on the bed. "She adores you."
"Yeah, I know. But she needs to be raised by her parents. I can't take time off and play with her all the time." The car was completely silent, save for the clattering of the wheels of the train on the railroad. Solaris began fidgeting impatiently, unable to wait to get to Canterlot, but he knew that they were both really nervous about what they might find in the archives. "...So...we have a plan, then?"
"You really want to have a foal now?" Trill asked, her husband slowly nodding his head. She sighed and sat up on the bed, unsure of herself if she's ready right not to be a mother. Whether it was their own child through whatever spell they could find or adopting a lucky colt or filly, it was a really scary thought to her. "Are you absolutely sure?"
"Are you?" he asked back. "If you don't, I can wait. We might be-"
"If you want a foal to raise, then I'm all for it, like I said the other night," she said.
"Trill-" Her aura kept Solaris's mouth shut before he could try to change her mind.
"I want you to be happy. Even if I don't feel like I'm ready, which I still don't know if I am, I'll be happy to raise a foal with you." Solaris sighed and approached the bed, climbing up and giving Trill a kiss.
"I just don't want to feel like I'm forcing all this on you," he said, wrapping his hooves around her as he nuzzled her. "You really don't have to for my sake."
"Solly, after everything you went through, you deserve anything and everything. You want a baby, we'll have a baby...depending on whatever the heck this spell will do for us..." Seeing how stubborn she was with trying to give him happiness over her own, Solaris sighed and shook his head, giving Trill a soft kiss on the lips.
"Ok. But, if we go through with this, there's no backing out," he warned.
"I know. And I'm not gonna change my mind because of you." She cupped his cheeks in her hooves and kissed him, feeling him pull her closer as he deepened their kiss. She pulled away slightly, licking her lips, then moving up to kiss his nose. "And I love you. So very much."
"I love you too," Solaris said as he lovingly rubbed his muzzle against hers, sharing another kiss.
Trill giggled as she licked his lips, asking for permission to enter, which he allowed as he welcomed her tongue with his. Solaris leaned back and laid down on the bed, Trill held tightly in his forelegs as they remained lip-locked, moaning blissfully in each other's maws as their tongues playfully wrestled for dominance. He moved one of his hooves up to her cheek, gently rubbing it, making her sigh and pull away slightly to brush her snout against his, staring into his eyes.
"So, I got a little question." Solaris's ears perked up, hearing her out as he continued gently stroking her cheek. "I've never really seen the archives in the castle...How big is it?"
Trill's jaw dropped, the royal couple returned to Canterlot and headed toward the archives in the castle, and she was shocked as she saw the inside of it for the first time. "...Oh you have got to be kidding me..."
"Yeah. It's a pretty big storage room, storing all sorts of information worth keeping, or kept locked away from prying eyes," Solaris explained, pushing his shocked wife inside, Trill not excited to see all the books, tomes, and scrolls filling the millions of shelves.
"Storage room!? This place looks bigger than this castle!" She looked around, whimpering as she was going to be bored to death if they had to go through every single book, every single piece of rolled up paper, and every single word on those pages in those books. "How are we supposed to find anything that we need in this giant maze of boring stuff!?"
"They're all categorized in alphabetical order and separated by what type of literature. So, spells should be over this way." Solaris lead the way, Trill following along, knowing she's already lost in the maze of shelves. They passed by a section with an old unicorn wizard named Star Swirl the Bearded, a famous magician who made thousands of spells in his lifetime, even teaching the princesses over a millennia ago. He stopped at the shelves that held all of the known spells made in Equestria, lost to time or commonly used today, but with the amount of scrolls there were only made the changeling whine. "Here we are. And each scroll has a description of the spell, so we'll know what each one can do before casting."
"We have to read...all of these?" she asked, falling on her haunches and whined."I hate studying."
"And with all these spells...it might take us a few days." Trill groaned as she leaned against Solaris. "Without any sleep." She groaned even louder. "Will you stop that?"
"I have a right to be moody, because I don't wanna read all these," she complained.
"Do you want me to go through all these and take my place, dealing with all the even boring royal duties I have to do on a daily basis?" Trill's eyes widened in horror, quickly running up to a section of shelves in the magical spells aisles, levitating a few dozen scrolls down.
"Reading spells is good enough for me!" she quickly said, Solaris chuckling under his breath as he shook his head, joining Trill in searching through the spells. "So, what are we looking for?"
"Something involving reproduction, and it has to involve two different species with very different DNA structures." Trill whimpered, unsure if there was any kind of spell like that hidden among the thousands of scrolls just in this section alone. She looked at Solaris, already reading through several of them within the span of a minute. "I'm sure we'll find something like that in here. I can feel it."
"Oh boy," she muttered. "But, if any of us gets tired, we head to bed and continue where we leave off, ok?"
Solaris nodded, his eyes blazing through the spells as his magic rolled up the ones he read through and stacked them back where they were on the shelf. Sighing, Trill opened up her first scroll for the day and began reading, praying for a miracle to find the right spell, otherwise he'll be left disappointed.
The next few days had passed by very slowly as Solaris and Trill endlessly searched through the scrolls in the archives. They had both gone through hundreds of scrolls, taking time away from being inside the treasure trove of knowledge to take a break from reading, eating, resting, or for Solaris, making sure Equestria runs smoothly. Unfortunately, where Trill had taken those breaks, the alicorn barely took any, continuing his search even through his exhaustion.
Trill had woken up the next morning as the sun shone down through the windows, groaning and despising the sun ruining her beauty sleep as she rolled over. She tried to snuggle against her husband, wanting his body to shield her eyes from the light for a little while longer, but didn't feel him beside her. She squinted her eyes, finding no sign of him, sighing sadly as she knew exactly where he could be. Getting up out of bed, putting on a royal black and green robe he had made for her from the best boutique in the city, she wandered the halls of the castle to where the archives were held.
Once inside, she navigated her way to where the spells were located. She found the aisles of scrolls, and sitting against one of them with hundreds of rolled and unrolled scrolls laying around him was Solaris, and he was a wreck. His hair was disheveled, always quickly and sloppily groomed whenever he needed to meet with nobles or his council, eyes bloodshot with bags underneath, barely getting any sleep and the only thing keeping him awake were the several pots of hot coffee he always brought with him every day. He was on the verge of passing out, but he refused to shut his eyes to even blink for more than a millisecond. She saw him getting desperate, and she didn't want him to get hurt.
"Solly?" she called out, his ear twitching as he looked up from the scroll and at her.
"Hey, honey," he said, his voice tired and slurred slightly from exhaustion. "Going to bed?"
"It's eight in the morning," she said.
"Morning?" The alicorn looked at his forehoof, though he realized he wasn't wearing a watch from his sleep deprived delirium. He looked out the nearby window, seeing the sun rising, rubbing his tired eyes to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. "...Oh. It is...Good morning."
"Solaris, have you even gotten any sleep since we started?" Trill asked, but she knew the answer clear as the day outside.
"No," he admitted, lifting up a fresh brewed pot of coffee and poured it into a mug. "I gotta...keep searching...Must...find...spell."
Before he took a sip, Trill swiped the mug away from him, along with the batch of coffee and empty pots. "Ok, you need sleep, and you need it bad. No more coffee. No more searching for today, or tomorrow."
"But I'm close." He pulled up another scroll, squinting his eyes to try to read it, only to shut his eyes and droop his head. He snapped awake as he dropped the scroll, his vision blurry from his sleepless nights. "I'm gonna find it."
"Not if you're going to zone out and go insane from your insomnia." Trill picked up the scattered scrolls, placing all of the rolled up ones that he finished reading away, leaving the rest for her to look through and put away later. She then helped Solaris on his hooves, forcing him to lean against her as she lead him out of the large library of recorded stuff to put him to bed. "Time for bed."
"I'm not tired. Honest." Solaris yawned, succumbing to his exhaustion as he began to lean harder into Trill.
The changeling grunted, trying to guide and carry him, only managing to get him out of the archives until she stumbled. "Ahh!" She grunted, the unconscious stallion falling on top of her. She tried to push herself up, but she wasn't exactly strong in the physical sense, trapped underneath her husband in a provocative position. "Urgh. As much as I love being underneath you, now is not the time."
Trill finally managed to get Solaris off of her, rolling him over as he snored, never realizing he wound up sleeping on top of his wife in the middle of the hall. Luckily, two guards beginning their patrol came down the hall, alerted to their prince laying unconscious outside of the archives.
"What happened to His Highness!?" one of them asked.
"Relax, he's not dead. He's just asleep." Proving her point, the alicorn snorted and mumbled something, trying to reach for something with his hoof. "Can you two please escort him back to his room and put him to bed? He...had a pretty long night looking up...stuff."
"Yes, Princess Trill." The guards saluted and lifted the sleeping alicorn on their backs, escorting him to his room to finally get some sleep.
She sighed and headed back in the archives to pick up the other scrolls. "Solly, you got your hopes up. Five whole days of looking through those scrolls, and you could have hurt yourself." Once she reached the section where the spells were kept, Trill picked up the several pots used for Solaris's coffee and placed them in a pile to take back once she was done. "I didn't know he drank coffee. That stuff is way too bitter, even if there are chocolate flavored brews."
She got to work and sat down where her husband was, levitating the opened scrolls and searching through them. The first couple she grabbed didn't have what they were looking for, rolling them up and placing them back on the shelf. The next one she grabbed that caught her eye made her gasp after reading through it. There was an illustration underneath the spell titled "Specie Reproducto" that showed an interspecies couple: a male unicorn and a female griffon. Beneath the image was the magical algorithm to cast the spell, something that's way out of her league, and a description of what the spell does, along with a bit of history on the creator of the spell and the reason why it was made.
Specie Reproducto allows a romantic couple, both from different species or anatomically incompatible to each other, to conceive a child born from both of their DNA. The unicorn stallion in the illustration, his name unknown, had fallen in love with a female griffon, also unknown, during a war between both of their kingdoms. Their love was true and they eloped, but because of their difference in biology, they yearned to have a child they could never have.
He did not falter and worked tirelessly to create some way to give them a child, even if it meant cloning their first child with the magic they both held within them. One day, the stallion had finished the spell, and days after they tried to conceive, the griffon experienced signs of pregnancy; Specie Reproducto was a success. However, the spell altered the reproductive organs of the griffon. Where a griffon female lays an egg and their reproductive cycle is a few months, she instead gave a live birth, her cycle lasting as long as a mare's, from 10-11 months.
The spell has no side effects to the female or the fetus, so no harm comes to either and the spell wears off a few days after giving birth. The infant had both traits of a pony and griffon, creating a new species, calling their child's mix a hippogriff. It does not matter if the diet a female eats from those of their species or of their pony spouse's, but as long as it is a healthy diet, their child will be healthy too.
Trill stared at the description, reading it a hundred times over. She was surprised that there actually was a spell that could give them a child, and she had doubted it would ever exist. It was exhilarating to find, heartwarming to hear the first two interspecies couple had fulfilled their desires to have a foal with both of their traits, and a little terrifying to hear what it would do to her. She looked down at her stomach, unsure if her skinny frame could carry a growing, actually live, foal in her womb. Then again, her mother, Chrysallis, could give birth to several dozen changeling eggs and still look skinny, and she gave birth to her and her other brothers and sisters.
"...This sounds...really scary." She looked back at the spell and its description again, doing a lot more reading than she thought she would. The spell did say it would turn her reproductive system back to normal after giving birth, and both the griffon and baby hippogriff were ok in the end. Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, planning on doing this for Solaris, she rolled the scroll up, stuck it in the pocket of her robe, and rolled the rest of the scrolls up, placing them back on the shelves. She left the archives, carrying the empty pots and freshly made pot of coffee with her. "He is going to be surprised to see this when he wakes up."
Early the next morning, Trill got up far earlier than she usually does, but she's doing it because she's ready to show Solaris the scroll that would help them achieve what he had been dreaming of. The alicorn was fast asleep the whole day yesterday, so she didn't want to disturb him from his rest. She wanted to make the reveal special for him, planning to make him breakfast in bed. During the times she was bored while in the castle, she went down to the kitchen and, out of boredom, tried her hoof at cooking. Even though she didn't like the taste of pony foods, even with sprinkled essence of love over it, a wonderful idea created by Solaris himself for any changelings curious to try Equestrian cooking without tasting any blandness from their taste buds, the chefs were surprised at how good she was despite having no experience.
The changeling cooked up a few eggs, hash browns, and some toast, she placed the food on the tray and poured a glass of apple juice, courtesy of Sweet Apple Acres. With everything prepared and still warm, she carried the tray in her green aura and made her way up through the castle to their bedroom. Trill carefully opened the door, peeking inside to see if Solaris was awake yet. Thankfully, he was still asleep, and he looks a lot more rested now. Sneaking quietly into the room, crept up to the bed, placing the tray down at the foot of the bed, then approached the dresser and pulled out the Specie Reproducto spell she hid.
Keeping the scroll behind her, out of sight from the alicorn when he opened his eyes, she approached him and leaned closer, giving him a light peck on the cheek. "Solly. Time to wake up." Solaris grunted, squinting his eyes open as he felt another kiss on his cheek. He lifted his head up and was met with his love's lips pressing against his, giving him a soft kiss to wake him up a little. "Morning, sleepyhead."
"Morning." The alicorn yawned, slowly sitting up as he stretched his tired limbs. He smacked his lips, rubbing his bedhead, realizing Trill was up before him. "You're up early...That's rare."
"Yeah, well...after spending a few sleepless nights going through those scrolls, you would obviously wind up passing out at some point. Should have listened to me when I said take a break." Trill giggled as she heard him groan, levitating his breakfast as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "Anywho, I thought you could use some breakfast. You were asleep for a whole day, and you must be starving."
"A whole day?" Solaris questioned, surprised he was asleep for a whole twenty-four hours. Trill laid out the tray in his lap, his nostrils struck with the delicious scent as he saw the meal she made for him. "Wow. Looks and smells good." He levitated the fork beside the plate, taking a bit of his eggs. "Mmm...This is good. Did you make this?"
"Yup! Not bad for a changeling that doesn't like eating the food you eat, huh?" Trill grinned as she gloated, seeing Solaris nod his head as he savored her cooking. She hovered up onto the bed and sat down behind him, gently wrapping her hooves around his neck as she watched him eat. "You feel a lot better after finally getting some sleep?"
"Mhmm," the alicorn nodded, swallowing his mouthful, licking his lips as he nuzzled her cheek. "I didn't think you'd be this good as a chef. It's delicious. Maybe you should be my head chef instead and make my meals."
"Pth. It's more of a hobby out of boredom. Plus, I want to make food for you on...special occasions." Solaris was about to take a sip of his apple juice, but stopped when she mentioned the words "special occasions".
"Special occasions?" He looked over at the calendar, finding no specific dates this month that warranted a special day for the two of them. "Uhh, what occasion? Our wedding anniversary was a couple months ago."
"I know. But...I think I found something you're going to really like." His curiosity peaked, Trill levitated the spell down in front of his face.
"A scroll?" he asked, more confused as he stared at the rolled up paper.
"You gotta open it and read what's in it first, you doof." She dropped the scroll in his lap, moving the tray aside before his excitement caused him to spill his food.
Solaris unfurled the scroll in his hooves and looked at its contents, his eyes growing wide as he stared at the spell and its description. His forelegs shook, looking back at his smiling wife, then back to the spell.
"...T-There is a spell?" he asked. "This isn't fake???"
"Found in the pile you were looking through before I had to pull you away by force." He dropped the scroll, still in shock as he turned to look at Trill. "Surprise."
Tears of happiness welled up in his eyes, Solaris surprising Trill by pulling her down on the bed, her yelp muffled as he kissed her deeply. He pulled away and picked her up, hugging her tightly and nuzzled her.
"I can't believe there's actually a spell! We can have our own baby!" The alicorn dropped his wife, the mare still trying to recover from the surprise kiss, filled with a lot more love than she ever been given from him before. He picked up the scroll and looked at how the spell was cast, a pretty challenging spell, but he believed he can cast it perfectly. "This is amazing. And to think, somepony back then who fell for another who wasn't a pony like him had worked this hard to perfect a spell like this."
"Yeah...What anyone's crazy enough to do for the ones they love, right?" Solaris agreed with her, knowing what each of them have done for each other in the past, mostly getting in each other's way in a dangerous or deadly battle. She took a deep breath, deciding it's now or never, or else hold it off and lose her nerve when he wants to ask. "So...You gonna cast it?"
Solaris flinched and quickly looked at Trill, surprised to hear her ask that question after just finding it. "...What? Y-You...You want to do this?"
"I'm ready if you are," she said. He stammered, not expecting Trill to want to have a foal now. She sighed in irritation and anticipation, hating having to wait for him to respond. "Look, I know you, Solaris. You want to have a foal, and after hearing how badly you want this to happen, I told you I'm going through with it. So, fire away. Blast me. Change up my insides and get me pregnant before I fly out the window and freak out!"
Solaris looked down at the scroll, re-reading the description and how to cast the spell one more time before placing the scroll on the dresser. He approached the bed and pulled the shivering changeling into his embrace, gently rubbing his hooves along her back to calm her down.
"It's ok, Trill," he consoled. "I'm a little nervous about this too. But I'm also really excited." Using his magic, he closed the curtains to their windows, shut the balcony and bedroom doors, locking them tightly, and casting a soundproofing spell so they wouldn't be disturbed. As much as he didn't want to neglect his duties, he did spend a whole day asleep, so one more day wouldn't hurt. "You ready?"
"Yes, for the hundredth time!" Trill exclaimed. "Hit me!"
"Ok, ok. But, just to make sure it works, I'll have to add in a few more spells to increase our chances." As the changeling worried about what other spells he had in mind, Solaris pulled out a couple extra scrolls he hid behind the bed. "A little fertility spell for the both of us, and one to instantly put a mare into heat for a bigger percentage chance."
"Wait, put me in heat?" Trill asked. "Uhh, is that going to burn?" Solaris didn't answer as he looked at the scrolls, examining the algorithm to cast them, his horn glowing brightly. "Solly, are you listening to me or too busy casting the spells?"
"Ok, let's do this!" Trill gulped as he wrapped his aura around her body, casting the Specie Reproducto spell first.
Her body tingled all over, then suddenly feeling a slight twist in her gut that lasted for only a second before it ended. "Oogh. That was...weird."
"Next is fertility," Solaris muttered as he continued casting, sending a trail of golden aura floating over the both of them. The spell flew through them underneath their tails, both pony and changeling moaning as they felt the spell's effects kicking in, light blushes on their cheeks as they were slightly aroused from the pleasurable sensation. "Ok. Focus. Don't go overboard."
"S-Solly, I think that's good. Let's just get on with it," Trill begged, afraid to know how she'll act if he puts her in heat.
"Just this one last spell," he promised, shooting a small beam of golden light for the last spell, striking Trill as she yelped. The magic went straight for her stomach, a painful burning sensation making her collapse on the bed. It felt like her insides were on fire and she needed something to douse out those flames irritating her womb. "Ok, there we go." Solaris levitated the scrolls over to the dresser, far from their bed so they don't end up getting ruined. He was about to ask Trill if she was ok, only for his nostrils to flare, smelling a very powerful, overwhelmingly sweet scent in the air, causing his cheeks to redden brightly at the arousing effect it had on him. He looked at Trill, hearing her panting heavily as her mane draped over her face, slowly standing up with her clear insect wings splayed out across her sides. "...Uhh, Trill?"
"Soooooooollyyyyyyyyyyyy..." Her voice made a chill run down his spine, sounding primitive, hungry, and incredibly needy.
The moment he saw her face as she lifted her head up, he saw her teeth barred, eyes widened with lust and hunger, letting out a low grumble that sounded like a dangerous predator, and she found her prey. "...Uh oh. Did I put too much power in that last spell?"
Hours had passed into the evening, the ponies taking part in the council waiting impatiently for their prince to arrive. It wasn't like him to skimp out on any important meetings with topics they needed to discuss, some of his excuses mostly involving Trill keeping him up all night, being the young and energetic couple they were. One of them finally decided to ask one of the guards to search for the prince, one of the stallions running off to find out where he could be.
He asked some of the staff, some of the chefs saying they saw Trill come in this morning to make breakfast for Solaris, but they didn't see any sign of her at all the rest of the day. Being the only lead he had to go on, the Royal Guard made his way to the prince's bedroom, knocking on the door to get his attention.
"Your Highness!?" he called out with a few more knocks. "Prince Solaris, are you in there!? Your council is waiting for your presence!"
After waiting a while, he pressed his ear to the door to hear if anyone was inside. There were slow, dull hoofsteps, approaching the door. He backed away as the door unlocked, but as it opened a crack, the guard as hit by a wave of a powerfully sweet scent, quickly covering his nose and backed up against the wall. With the door opened up a bit more, Solaris poked his head out, looking quite terrified, his mane sticking out all over his head, his pupils shrunk in fright at what had just happened.
"...What time is it?" he asked, his voice shaky and raspy.
"...Uhh...S-Seven thirty," the guard replied. "...Are you...ok, Prince Solaris?"
"...Yeah...Just...a little something Trill and I did...Definitely too much oomph in that last spell..." Solaris looked back inside the room, then poked his head back out. "Can you...tell the council I'll have to cancel tonight's meeting? And a gallon of water?"
"Y-Yes, Your Highness," the guard saluted, keeping a hoof over his nose.
"And, also...bring the maids to clean my room?" He looked back inside the room, shuddering slightly as he looked back outside. "I'm probably going to have to triple their pay for a month after they see this."
A few days passed after the royal couple's disastrous coupling, both ponies heavily sore the next day, especially Trill. It took the entire day for the maids to clean up their mess, most of them horrified by the state it was in, forced to wear masks to avoid getting distracted by the pheromones Trill had released from the magical heat she had cast upon her. It was a pretty embarrassing day for him, apologizing greatly to the poor mares, promising not to do that again, and he swears never to cast that spell on a changeling ever again.
The alicorn paced impatiently outside of their bathroom, waiting for Trill already inside to see if the spell really did work. "Anything yet, Trill!?"
"You asked that question for the tenth time! Just wait!" she yelled out. "This is already awkward enough for me to do this thing to see if I'm pregnant! Couldn't you use a spell to see if I've got something growing in me!?"
"That kind of spell can only be used by certified doctors, and it wouldn't be able to show anything within the first trimester of a mare's pregnancy!" Trill groaned in annoyance. "You're following the instructions on that pregnancy test, right!?"
"Yes, but I can't tell you what'll happen until it decides to show up!" Solaris continued pacing, beginning to worry that the spell had failed, he wound up casting it wrong, or it was a dud.
Another few agonizing minutes later, Trill opened the door and walked out of the bathroom. She had a nervous look on her face, holding the pregnancy test in her aura.
"Did it work?" he asked. She looked up at him and gave him a small smile, turning it around to show him. Solaris saw a pink plus in the circle, the test coming back positive. Trill was pregnant, the spell had worked, and the two of them were going to have a foal. "Oh my gosh...We're having a baby!"
"We sure are." Solaris hugged Trill, the stallion excited and unable to wait for the day their child will arrive. Trill was really nervous, having no idea what to expect in a pony mare's pregnancy, but she's a little excited as well. "So...It takes around eleven months for the baby to be born?"
"Well, not exactly that long, give or take some days, but that's the average gestation period for a pregnant mare," he said.
"Oh boy..." Trill looked down at her belly, now carrying a life inside of her. She sighed and looked up at her husband, hating to ask this question, but she needed to for the sake of their child starting to grow inside her. "Do you know what I'll expect during this pregnancy? Or should we find a book about it?"
