Chapter 2: The wheels of betrayel

The morning sunlight from Celestia's sun shined on Twilight's face.  She woke up and immediately thought of the book.

The book can wait. First I need some breakfast.

She walked over to the kitchen where Spike had already started eating.

“Good morning Spike.” Twilight said with a smile on her face.

“Morning Twilight, I already made some breakfast for you.” Spike said as he poured some coffee into a cup and handed it over to Twilight.

“Thanks Spike. This is why you will always be my number one assistant!” Twilight said with an even bigger smile.

Spike blushed. “Thanks.”

They started eating and when Twilight finished, she went directly over to the book… only to find that it was missing.

Twilight panicked.  “Uhh… Spike!? Do you know where that book I was reading yesterday is?”

“What book do you mean?” Spiked asked, hinting in his voice that they lived in a LIBRARY.

“There was a book here called 'The Fallen Demi-God', I was reading it yesterday.” Replied Twilight.

“Ooooh, THAT book. I thought you didn’t believe in that stuff?” Spike said almost accusingly.

“I don’t! I was just… wondering where it was.” Twilight said defensively.

She sighed.  Oh well, it's not like it was THAT interesting… Twilight rolled her eyes and began to head to her desk to continue her studi-

“I found it!” Spike said. As a reward for his efforts, Spike almost got a hoof to the face as Twilight almost ran into him in a burst of excitement.

“Where is it?!” Twilight said, excited that Spike found the book.

“I was talking to myself!” Spike said. A look of embarrassment ran across his face as soon as he noticed what he just said.

“… You talk to yourself?” Twilight asked as she giggled, barely holding back all of her laughter.

Spike sighed. "Yeah yeah. Just get it out of your system."

Twilight burst into laughter, but was quickly subdued as Twilight realized something and began to make an annoyed expression. Spike noticed this and didn’t feel like arguing with her.

“Uuuhh… gotta go!” Spike said as he went straight for the door… only to be stopped by a purple field of magic and was quickly sent back towards an annoyed Twilight.

“Spike!” Twilight said in an annoyed tone.

Spike sighed. This is gonna be a long day...

Meanwhile, in space…

(Fitting music.)

The Eight Guardian Generals were fighting a very gruesome fight against the Gohma in space.  Huge amounts of pale white and gold ships were going up against giant, squid-like Gohma called Gohma Lashers and giant rock space ships that were the Gohma Carriers.  The fighting has been going on for hours, and no sign of ceasing has been seen.  Out of one of the white and gold ships that made up the demi-god fleet were three of the Eight Guardian Generals, effortlessly destroying Gohma Carriers. They all went on their own soon as more and more Gohma closed in on them.

“FOR THE CAUSE!”

The biggest of all of the Guardian Generals, Wyzen raised his single giant mechanical arm and began to thrust it down upon the Carrier.

“I will root out ALL evil with these. GREAT. FISTS!!!” Wyzen said as he turned around after destroying the Gohma Carrier with a single punch.

Meanwhile, Augus, another one of the Guardian Generals and Asura’s mentor, landed on top of a Gohma Lasher as a Gohma Stinger and a Gohma Glider, a flying manta ray and flying lion fish respectively, closed in on him.

“Time to have some FUN!” Augus grabbed the handle of his katana, ready to kill the two Gohma that were on him.

“Looks like you want to die first!” He said as he killed both Gohma without unsheathing his katana.  A gleeful grin crossed his face when he saw his next target.

Augus grabbed the sheath of his katana this time.  “Lucky for you. I can make that happen!!!” He spun the sheath around and stabbed it into the very Lasher he was standing on, splitting the helpless squid-like Gohma to pieces.  He jumped onto a piece of its dead corpse as he let out a laugh that could haunt a man's dreams forever and held his katana up in triumph.

“Follow me!” Yasha commanded as he was avoiding the tentacles of a Lasher.  “Drive a wedge between the enemies forces!” Yasha told the other generals, but they did not listen to him and continued to fight.  Yasha sliced one of the tentacles coming at him with his hand and quickly cut the Lasher into pieces with his bare hands, a blue light emanating from the sliced Gohma.  He saw four more, and he extended his leg out as he dived right into the first Lasher, coming out of the other end and cutting it into pieces.  He did this to the other three in the same single kick with the same blue light cutting down every single one of them.

And then there was the fourth of the Guardian Generals who had just punched one of the fish Gohma on the side and was not giving up until he got through it, making it explode in the process. That man was known as Asura.

“WORTHLESS SCUM!  I’LL KILL YOU ALL!!” Asura screamed as he charged at more Gohma, targeting them and shooting them down with blasts of pure energy.  After a while, Asura decided to charge down at a Carrier, seething rage pouring out of him.  He punched the nose of the rocky ship and went down along the side, punching it all the way down.  Near the end of the ship, he delivered a single punch and made the Carrier explode.  Asura immediately looked for his next target.  “WHO’S NEXT!?” He yelled as he charged into the fray with the other Guardian Generals in the field.

The fight went on and on and on.

***

“Oh, how beautiful life is at its end. True beauty only manifests itself in death!” Sergei, the fifth and most flamboyant of the generals, said as he viewed the battle from one of the ships while making dramatic hand gestures.

“It would be nice if one could rest for a bit… I do believe I'm getting too old for this.” The sixth general said. His name was Kalrow, and just like Sergei, he was in his ship watching the battle, floating and spinning around on his staff.

“You two should be concerned with the task at hand!” The seventh Guardian General scolded the two other Generals on screen.  This was Olga, the only female Guardian General.

“Olga,” Sergei began in a calm yet somewhat psychotic tone, “sometimes I wonder if you know me at all. Have you forgotten that I am most concerned when the beauty of destruction is before me?”

“My strategies are flawless!” Exclaimed Karlow. “There is no need for us to be on the battlefield. You need but sit down and await our victory.”

“How you two became Generals is beyond me,” Olga said, her disgust showing in both her face and her tone.  “Commander Deus! Sending reinforcements directly to the frontlines!” Olga informed their commander and fellow Guardian General, Deus.

Deus grunted.  “Battles such as this that bring temporary peace are meaningless and a waste of my time.” He said in a deep, dark voice.

“Huh?” Olga looked at her commander dumbfounded.  He couldn’t mean…

“Prepare to fire the Brahmastra!” Deus ordered.

“The Brahmastra!?” Olga couldn’t believe it. “But Commander, it is not yet fully charged!” Olga’s voice was beginning to fill with frustration.

“In its current state it wouldn’t be able to demonstrate its true capability.” Kalrow pointed out.

“At times one must throw a stone in stagnant waters to set things into motion,” Deus clenched his fist. “Not just for this battle, but the future of the world itself.”

"The Bramasthra… That is an instrument of destruction I would love to hear played.” Sergei was rather happy at the prospect of using the Brahmastra, and took the mass destruction it would do with the joy only a psychopath would.

“As you wish, Commander.” Olga replied with slight bitterness in her voice.

Deus stretched his arm out with his hand open, striking a pose.  “Hear me now! Let this blast herald the coming of a new world order!”

***

The Karma Fortress.

It was incomplete, only having a head and torso, but its size was easily bigger than Gaea and, with the super weapon known as the Brahmastra on its forehead, is capable of unimaginable levels of destruction.  The Brahmastra began charging mantra to fire into a beam.

Asura noticed this and stopped his descent into more Gohma.  He turned around to look, only to see a giant teal laser being fired right at Gaea.  The laser destroyed a large bit of the surface and created a huge crater where it hit.

“The Brahmastra? But why?” Yasha said, wondering why they would fire the Brahmastra when it’s not at full power.

“Why not? It shows how serious we are about winning!” Augus replied, confidence filling his voice.

All of the sudden, a giant black patch on Gaea was forming where the Brahmastra hit.

“Behold!  It is VILTRAAA!” Wyzen exclaimed rather dramatically.

(More fitting music.)

And out of the ground came something with half the size of the planet. It was a huge mouth of some sort and its scream was like something out of a hellish nightmare. As it screamed, projectiles were fired upon the fleets of the demi-gods, destroying thousands of ships in the process.

Such power… Asura thought as Vlitra destroyed a huge chunk of their fleet.  Viltra had grown much more powerful since last time, but that’s not going to stop any of the generals from killing it once and for all, especially not Asura.

Watching from his ship, Kalrow’s mouth was agape at the carnage he just saw.  “Whoa! What power…!”

Augus didn’t seem fazed at all and was preparing to charge at Vlitra.

“Stand aside, weaklings!” Augus said, mocking the other three generals beside him. “This one’s MINE!" He charged right at Vlitra, leaving them in the dust.

Asura was not going to have any of that.

“Get back! You've had your share!” Asura yelled as he charged down with Augus.

Augus grabbed one of the Lashers, pushing it into a group of Gohma that were behind them. Meanwhile, Asura went through a whole barrage of Gohma and tried to do the same as his master except with a Carrier… only to get eaten by a giant squid Gohma behind him.  Yasha saw this and delivered a swift kick that destroyed the Lasher, saving Asura’s life.

“Watch yourself!” Yasha warned Asura.

“Yasha! Mind your own business!” Asura said rather angrily. (…Swag)

Suddenly, Vlitra decided to fire another barrage of projectiles towards the fleet.  Asura and Yasha were right in the middle of the barrage, and both were dodging all of the numerous blasts heading towards them.  Asura got hit by multiple projectiles closing in on him.  Yasha only managed to call out Asura’s name before getting hit by a barrage himself.  Both were down for the count.

"Father!?" Mithra said, knowing her father was in danger. She performed a spell, making mantra appear and made it head towards Asura and Yasha. When it hit, them they felt refreshed and stronger.

"Priestess!" Yasha called out as he felt more invigorated and stronger than before.

Asura, on the other hand, was beginning to focus mantra into his arms, spouting out two new arms alongside each arm and having a mantra ring become visible behind him for a moment, becoming Six-Armed Vajra Asura.

“This war… ENDS NOW!” Asura said with confidence in his voice

Vlitra screamed once more and let out yet another barrage of projectiles.  Asura and Yasha masterfully dodged the projectiles.  Asura started to fire numerous projectiles himself at Vlitra, causing damage to it on their descent down. Asura went for the kill and landed a clean hit with all three of his right arms right on top of what he figured to be Vlitra’s head, causing cracks to form down along Vlitra.  Vlitra was beginning to crumble down.  With this chance, Asura flew up high to bring down the final blow upon Vlitr-

What the- Before he could finish the thought, Asura was soon hit by a massive beam.  A beam directed right at him by Vlitra.

Asura managed to survive, losing his four extra arms in the process.  But he didn’t care.  All he felt was rage and anger for failing to kill Vlitra.  He was about to free humanity from the dark spirit of Gaea… and he didn’t kill Vlitra.  He only subdued it.

Yasha came down beside Asura, seeing the uneasiness in the fellow general.  "What troubles you?" Yasha asked, concerned about what was troubling Asura.

“I… could not kill it…” Asura said, anger prevalent in his tone.

“No one can kill Vlitra,” Yasha tried to reassure Asura. “You should be grateful you were able to subdue it."  Asura was still not satisfied. He wanted to kill Vlitra, one way or another.  Yasha still tried to reassure Asura.  “We have suffered more casualties than ever, but it will not be back for a while.  You should rest.” He told Asura.

Asura just grunted.

***

"Due to General Asura's efforts, Vlitra has subsided!" a demi-god soldier reported to Mithra.  With that Mithra dropped her mantra ring, happy that the war is over.

Emperor Strada rose from his throne, addressing the army that was before him.  “Purify the surviving Gohma!” He commanded.  “The power of my Eight Guardian Generals is invincible!  May Shinkoku prosper in everlasting GLORY!”

Deus simply looked down upon the army of demi-gods from his platform, arms crossed.

“The time… is near…”

***

It was the day after Vlitra’s defeat.  The people of Shinkoku are having a joyous celebration at the peace that has been achieved.  All of them have come out to celebrate the victory their demi-gods have brought them.

Meanwhile, Asura and Yasha went to Asura's home.  Outside, Asura’s wife and daughter were waiting for them.

“Asura!” Durga exclaimed happily as she and Mithra saw Asura and Yasha approach their lovely home.

Mithra ran towards her beloved father.  “Father!” She cried as she ran towards Asura, embracing him in a hug.  Asura started hugging his daughter. Mithra was crying tears of joy because she thought she had lost her father, but here he is, safe and unharmed.

“You’re safe…” Durga said as she came towards them.

“I am.” Asura said with relief in his voice

“Welcome home.  Father.” Mithra said to her father.

Asura seemed happy and at peace when Mithra said that.  “Thanks.”

As the family was embracing each other, a robotic voice suddenly broke the silence.

“General Asura, the Emperor summons you.” Turned out that it was a demi-god soldier sent out to fetch Asura.  “He awaits your presence in the throne room.”  The soldier bowed after it told Asura that.

“I wonder if he's going to present you with a medal for defeating Vlitra!” Mithra said, excitement in her voice.

“She's right. You mustn’t keep the Emperor waiting.” Durga said to her husband.

Asura nodded.  “Alright.” He then headed off to the throne room, with the robot following behind him.

***

Asura walked over to Emperor Strada and kneeled before him.  But… something was amiss.  Asura looked up at his Emperor.

The Emperor couldn’t keep his balance and fell.

Asura caught the Emperor in time, worried about what was happening to him.  As he was about to ask, Asura had a look of horror on his face when he looked at the Emperor.  He could not believe what was happening.  Emperor Strada…was killed.

Asura blacked out from shock.

***

Some time afterward, Asura re-gained consciousness.  He was breathing heavily, and looked up to see if the Emperor was really dead.  On the steps before him, Asura saw the Emperor dead, with blood splattered on the steps.  Asura looked at his hands and saw them covered in blood.

“What… what is this?" Asura thought out loud, utterly confused and horrified.  Feeling a presence in the room, Asura turned around to see.

There were a bunch of demi-god soldiers in the room, both shocked and angry that one of them – one of the Eight Guardian Generals, no less – would go and betray them the day after Vlitra was subdued.  The room immediately began to fill with their robotic voices.

“Insurrection!”

“Treachery!”

“Traitor”

“The Emperor…”

“General Asura has gone mad!”

The shock having finally run its course, Asura then fully realized what position he was in right now.  He tried to plead to the angry robots now blocking his exit.  “N-no! There must be some mistake!” Asura pleaded, hoping he could get their cooperation and explain his side of the story.

All that earned him was silence.

Panicking, Asura immediately started running towards the exit, dodging the attempts to stop him made by the soldiers on the way out.  He successfully left the throne room unscathed and kept running.

“I don’t understand! What the hell’s happening?!” He said as he ran outside.  As soon as Asura got out, however, he was immediately surrounded by demi-god soldiers.

“ASURA!” Cried a familiar voice.  Asura looked to see who it was, and saw no other than Wyzen, blocking Asura’s only escape.

“YOU TRATIOROUS FLITH!!” Wyzen yelled accusingly at Asura.

“No!  It wasn’t me!” Asura said, hoping that Wyzen might listen to him.

“SILENCE!  Enough of your lies! I shall purify the likes of you myself.”

“Damn you!” Asura said with an even angrier tone then before.

“RELEASE!” Wyzen commanded.  After that, the robotic soldiers began to attack Asura.

“Give up!” Wyzen yelled.

“I am innocent!” Yelled Asura while fighting off the soldiers.

“Hold still and receive your punishment!”

“MAKE ME!” Bellowed Asura in defiance.

More and more robotic soldiers came in trying to apprehend Asura, but he kept on defeating them.  Asura uppercutted one of them and kicked it mid-air into another group of soldiers, scattering them everywhere thanks to the impact.  Asura rushed up to them and preformed a spinning attack, releasing mantra to hit multiple soldiers at once and killing some of them.  His arms became red-hot afterward, which Asura used to his advantage as he savagely beat up one of the soldiers to give it a very painful and hot death before Asura’s arms could cool down.  Asura saw more soldiers coming towards him.

“Outta the way!” Asura yelled as he did another spinning attack to take the pressure off him.

“DO NOT LET HIM THROUGH!” Wyzen commanded as more soldiers came up to block Asura’s path.

“CLEAR A PATH!” Asura yelled as he grabbed a downed robot and threw it at the soldiers blocking him to break the line they made.  Before he could rush Wyzen, Asura became overpowered as many soldiers dog piled right on top of him, hoping that it would be enough to contain Asura.

They were dead wrong.

Asura managed to break free, despite now having half a dozen or so spears embedded into his back.  Wyzen was amused at Asura’s display.

“Still got it in you.  Let us cut to the chase….” Wyzen leapt to where Asura was.

“I’LL KILL YOU MYSELF!”

They fought each other in a battle to the death.

Wyzen shot bombs out of his hand, to which Asura replied with quickly dodging them and throwing one of the bombs right back at Wyzen.  Wyzen fell, but he was not out just yet. That is until Asura quickly ran towards him and performed an uppercut while Wyzen was still down. Wyzen was shot up into the air and spun around a little. Asura grabbed Wyzen in mid-air and slammed him back on the ground. Wyzen was still not dead yet. He tried to hit Asura with as much strength as possible, but Asura countered this by grabbing Wyzen’s fist, then threw his arm the other way and punched him in the face.   Wyzen was knocked out.  Asura did not wait and went back to running towards his family.

"Mithra! Durga! Be safe!" Asura said to himself as he ran as fast as he could, breaking the speed barrier and creating a sonic boom. He did not care for this and ran as fast as possible.  Asura got to his residence but it was too late. He could see his wife on the floor. Dying.

“Durga!” Asura cried.  He held her in his arms and heard her final words.

“Asura…” Durga began, pain panging all over her body as she spoke.  “Save her…” Durga put her hand on Asura’s face and pulled him in a bit.

"I will. Save your strength!" Asura was almost crying.

He could see her lips moving but did not hear her say anything. She was trying to say something, but the pain was too much for her to speak.  Asura knew what she would say though.

“Please. Be. Safe."”

Durga’s hand fell off his face and it hit the ground.  Asura was now only holding her lifeless body.  Never had Asura been this said before, but he turned that sadness into rage.

“… AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!”

Asura’s rage was enormous.  He ran out of the house and launched himself off high to the sky, sending him onto a ship where the other Guardian Generals were.

As he landed, he saw Mithra trapped inside a crystalline cage.  With all of the other generals standing in front of him.

“MITHRA!” Asura cried out.

“FATHER!” Mithra cried out in response.

Asura couldn’t believe it. First, he’s framed for killing the Emperor. Then his wife dies in his hands.  And now… Asura sees that the seven other Guardian Generals were holding his daughter against her will.  He was filled with more rage than when he fought Vlitra.

“Asura…” Yasha said in a calm yet slightly scared voice.

“Get out of my WAY!” Asura angrily bellowed at his former comrades.

Yasha took off his mask.  “Listen to me.  We-“

“MOVE!!”  Asura charged towards Yasha, ready to punch him out of his way.  But before he even got close, Asura was struck by black and white lightning and was flew back.

Deus was standing in front of Asura, black and white lightning coursing all over his body.  “Stand down, Yasha.” He commanded.  Yasha complied, simply putting his mask back on and turning away.

“Deus… it was you!” Asura noticed it was HE who killed the Emperor.

“Yes. I did what was necessary for the cause.” Deus said in his dark voice again.

“Cause…?” Asura asked in a confused tone.

“I have decided to save this world.” Deus said.  “I will create a new civilization… a great rebirth!”

“Save the world?  What “great rebirth”? You’re insane!" Asura said, barely believing that this is all happening.

Deus laughed at Asura’s stupidity.  “I will bear the burden of your wrath and your life, Asura.”

Deus fired another lightning bolt at Asura.  And another lightning bolt. And another one. Finally, Asura was struck by the last one… Or so he thought. He was on the edge of falling down to Gaea. He could barely stand up on his own.  Suddenly, he found himself being grabbed by the neck by Deus and lifted off the ground.

"Your death shall be the foundation of my new world!" Deus said as he struck Asura one final lightning bolt.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Asura screamed in pain. He screamed so much he could kill a god with his scream alone.  After the shock was done, Deus let go of Asura, letting him fall to his death.

"NO! FATHER!" Mithra screamed but it was in vain.  Olga thrusted her palm on the cage, putting Mithra in cryogenic stasis.

“Let her go!  I said LET HER GO!” Asura yelled as he fell down to the surface of Gaea.  He began to enter Gaea’s atmosphere and started to burn up.

I WILL HAVE MY VENGEANCE!!!!!” Asura swore vengeance upon the ones who betrayed him. Then he fell down to the surface of Gaea and died.

---------------

Back in Ponyville…

Rainbow Dash was bored and couldn’t figure out something to do. She decided to fly some but she was still bored. So she then decided to visit her friend Twilight.

She flew at incredible speeds as usual and got to Twilight's house in ten seconds flat.

She noticed Spike was in trouble and heard something about him accidently burning some book.  She decided to not get involved so she flew away.

"If only something more exiting happened…" Rainbow Dash said to herself.

Just as she said those words a bright fire beamed into the skies and the ground was shaking. She also heard a scream that could shatter somepony's ears.

It was coming from the Everfree Forest.
