Shyness with a pinch of Caramel
Chapter 1: Concealed Romance
Load Full Story Next ChapterMorning settled, Celestia's sun brightly shined up in the blue sky. Caramel pulled the wooden cart full of hay to the big red barn of Sweet Apple Acres. He worked since dawn had arose, it wasn't a difficult task since he had help from Big Macintosh. Both were sweating profoundly from the heat, that didn't stop them for they had been in the buisiness of raising a farm for several years. Since they were young colts, they've been helping out with thier parents. Caramel stopped the cart inside of the barn, he unhooked himself from the straps connected to the cart. He then went behind the cart, moving it forward to the large pile of shuffled hay. Once he got onto the right positioning of the cart full of hay he lifted it leaving it tilted. The big stack of hay started sliding of the cart. The two piles of hay were now connected and formed into one huge pile. Caramel panted from extreme fatigue. While inhaling and exhaling, Big Macintosh went in the barn with a cart of hay. He did the familiar actions Caramel did to lay the hay onto the other pile of hay. He did this without hesitation not letting out a single breath of exhaustion. He was a very strong stallion after all. Big Mac then went out through the barn doors leaving Caramel alone. It was silent in the barn nothing to be heard but the creaking sounds of the wooden structure around him. He went out as soon as he got his stamina back up. He opened the barn doors letting out a ray of sun light in the barn, covering him with a satisfying feel of comfortable warmth. On the fields was Big Mac plowing the dirt, he didn't seem to grow tire from all of the heat and work that was givin to him. Caramel stood there looking over Sweet Apple Acres and all the successful commitments they have completed. They were actually three days early but with some free time on thier hooves, what can they do? Caramel surely knew what he was going to do. His thoughts were interupted by Applejack.
"Big Mac, Caramel morning grub is served!" She called out. Big Mac and Caramel heard, Big Mac undid the straps that were hooked onto his shoulders. Caramel didn't have time to eat for he had an obligation to do. He had to meet somepony important to him. He said Big Mac's name. Big Mac turned, he saw Caramel galloping to him. Caramel stopped in front of the big red stallion.
"Big Mac, can you do me a favor and tell Applejack I can't eat right now? I have something important to do" Caramel asked in need.
"Eeyup" Big Mac proclaimed.
"Thanks Big Mac" Caramel acknowledged. Right when Caramel turned he was interupted by Big Mac.
"Where are you going at a time like this anyways?" Big Mac wondered.
"I uhh got some errands to wrap up lets leave at that" Caramel stated.
Big Mac shrugged his shoulders and continued to breakfast. Caramel left a lying smile on his face. Once Big Mac went into the house Caramel sighed in praised relief. He had been keeping a secret from the family for three weeks now. He didn't want to let them know that he was dating Fluttershy, they wouldn't let it be. The Sweet Apple Family are known for not having any buisiness when it comes to romance but they only are fastened with their work and keeping Sweet Apple Acres running and growing. So Caramel has been lying, decieving them and doing his best to keep it that way, unfortunately. He snuck into the barn ever so silently. He searched around for something he kept ready and hidden since last night. He looked to make sure of no witnesses, he trotted silently to a couple of crates that were stacked in the corner of the barn. He gently shoved the top crate to the side as quitely as he could. There, hidding behind the two bottom wooden crates was a picnic basket. Surely this was an overreaction to hide just a plain old picnic basket behind the crates that hardly get touched. He couldn't hide it in his room because he shares a bedroom with Big Mac and he did not want to do some explaining. He couldn't even hide in the house for someone would find it and become suspicious and start asking questions. Even for something little as just a picnic basket. It would all result on him revealing himself and telling the truth. He didn't want to lose Fluuttershy, he loved her oh so much, and she felt the same way for Caramel. He stood there glaring at the wooden ceiling thinking about the consequences, they seemed not so harsh. They won't injure him in any way but it was the loss that would hurt him on the inside. He lost his thoughts and almost forgot he had somepony to meet. He got picnic basket by the handle with his mouth. AS he was about to walk out, he was startled by a filly.
"Hey there Caramel what are you up to?" Applebloom happily asked. Then she saw the picnic basket. The filly wondered what was up with it. She saw Caramel with a shocked, nervous look on his face.
"Whats with the basket" Applebloom asked.
"Uhh I got some stuff to buy in town" Caramel anxiously replied.
"Why? breakfast is ready" The filly asked.
"Uhh i'm not really that hungry today" Caramel nervously answered.
"Well ok Caramel" The filly said leaving the barn.
Once Applebloom left the barn he released the lying smile. "Whoo what a relief that was a close one" He whispered to himself. He was sweating, barely. From all that pressure he was just in, he couldn't be more happier for his secret to be safe. He trotted out the barn doors, silently. With the picnic basket in his mouth it was difficult to steer himself without dropping any of the goods he made for today. He opened the front gate, not being silent anymore. He turned back with the gate still in his hoof. He saw no one in sight, he let go of the gate making it create a creaking noise. He trotted off to meet Fluttershy. They both planned this day, the location, the time, it was going to be a perfect date. The food in the picnic basket was made by Caramel himself, with well made hay sandwiches, and a bottle whine he knew how to stir up not to long ago. It wasn't the best meal to bring to a date but he was sure Fluttershy wouldn't mind, especially if it was made by him. Since Sweet Apple Acres wasn't to far from Fluttershy's cottage it wasn't a long trip.
In less than a dozen minutes of walking he was in the perimeter of Fluttershy's cottage. He knew he was, there were animals in his sight not to far from him. He saw squirrels climbing trees, birds in thier nests caring for their young ones, and many more. It was like a zoo that was letting the animals out of thier cages. Though these animals recieved much better care and more love and effection than any other zoo would offer. In Caramel's vision was Fluttershy's cottage. He was a bit far from it, it was a good thing too. Twilight Sparkle came out of Fluttershy's cottage, he heard her thank Fluttershy for what ever reason. He hid in the bushes near by him. He stood still, not moving a muscle. Twilight passed by him without her noticing. The bush Caramel was hidding behind wasn't in the path but real close to it. There was too much trees, shrubs and other plants surrounding the path. That was an advantage to Caramel since he was a bright color. After a couple of minutes of waitng he slipped out from behind the bush confirming no one was around, indeed there wasn't. He went to the front door of Fluttershy's cottage and knocked on it couple of times. He waited a few moments, then the door opened. He saw his beloved Fluttershy on the other side of the door.
"Hi Fluttershy" Caramel excitedly said kissing Fluttershy on the cheek.
He left her with bright red blush. She was glad to see Caramel for it was her first love in a very long time. She went closer to him and wrapped her head around his. Her elegant pink mane covered his neck with comfort and warmth.
"So are you ready to go?" Caramel asked leaning on Fluttershy's head.
She leaned back and locked eyes with Caramel. To him it was a satisfying sight when he sees Fluttershy's beautiful strong cyan eyes. It brought bliss to him everytime. She settled there staring into Caramel's eyes and then she replied,"Oh Caramel with you i'm always ready". That warmed his inner body, so much love within him, he could barely take it. Fluttershy closed the door behind her. She grinned at Caramel, he grinned back. They began walking the path to thier destination. They planned on having a romantic picnic by a lake on the outskirts of Ponyville therefore no one will notice them. However, they have to not be detected by anypony who knew them while heading there.
The town of Ponyville was calm today, there were not much other ponies outside. Some of the stores were closed for no apparent reason. That wasn't the case, Caramel and Fluttershy were critical about not being seen together. They both took a hidden route on the other side of Ponyville where there was barely any residence, it was the deserted part of Ponyville. It was also a shorter passage to thier picnic spot anyways. With only ten minutes passed they were already among thier destiantion. Niether of them moved a lip on the way there but only closed up on each other. Today was going to be a special day for the couple.
There, over the hill was thier spot where they will have the perfect date. As they reached the tip of the hill the glazing sun rose upon the both of them. At the bottom of the drift was an elevated sight of blue, the lake wasn't too far. Sliding down the hill, Caramel was first though Fluttershy had some trouble for she was edgy to small situations such as these. She lost her balance causing her to fall. Luckily, Caramel was close by to catch her in time, but it also made Caramel fall on his back.
"Oh...sorry" Fluttershy apoligized.
Caramel just smiled at her."It ok Fluttershy, you are quite the clumsy mare" Caramel commented.
Fluttershy silently giggled while drawing off Caramel as he got up as well. "Come on Fluttershy" He whispered. She followed him to the crystal blue lake. They got onto thier picnic spot. They the blanket flat on the grass. The picnic basket was placed on the far corner of the checkered blanket. They both hunkered down. Relaxed and scorched Caramel and Fluttershy were. Caramel toom out the whine he made himself out from the basket. Along with two fancy glass cups. He gently poured whine into one of the cups, not too much and not too less. He handed it to Fluttershy which she accepted it. She instantly took a sip, her tastebuds sizzled with refreshing flavor. Caramel poured him a glass of whine and joined Fluttershy.
"Caramel this is delicious whine"
"Thanks Fluttershy, made it myself"
She grinned as she took another sip of the whine. As she finished drinking she was suprised with a kiss by Caramel. This wasn't any ordinary kiss, this was was far more prominent than any other times she was kissed by Caramel. She slowly melted inside. She slowly closed her eyes, Caramel already had his shut. After a few more pleasant moments Caramel released the kiss. They both opened thier eyes with the sight of each other. Their eyes were locked face to face with a smirk on both of thier faces.
"Caramel?" Fluttershy silently said.
"Yes?" He replied.
"I was just wondering....can we make love tonight since we've been dating for a while now?"
He thought about it for a few seconds. Staring into Fluttershy's eyes was no doubt he wanted to say yes. Then again how would he explain where he was to the Sweet Apple family. He thought his final thought and replied.
"Anything for you Fluttershy"
