Chapter 2: The Tears of Buhu/The Invisible Filly

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

"There they are!" Twilight pointed down to the camp where she and the girls were staying. The fire was still there, but it had withered down to a small ember. "Whisper, land here!"

Both Whisper and Twilight touched down at the campsite, but as they looked around for the rest of Twilight's friends, they found nothing. There were no visible or audible clues for where they went, and all that stood were the trees and the campfire.

"Twilight? Are you sure that the rest of your friends are here?" Whisper asked after a thorough examination. "I definitely can't see anyone else."

"They wouldn't just leave me. We're friends, after all." Twilight trotted around the campfire and looked at the marshmallows that were now dissolved and covered in dirt. "Okay, we sometimes get out of hoof and need to be shown the right way, but we're still friends. None of them would just abandon me in the Everfree Forest like this."

"Do you perhaps think they made their own little search party and went deep into the woods to find you?" Whisper asked, looking at Pinkie's flashlight from earlier. "It's usually the case whenever someone goes missing on a forest camping trip."

"No. My friends and I have braved the Everfree Forest countless times before. And as well as that, I have wings." Twilight flapped them once as she looked around once more. "If anything, they know that I can fly back to the camp at a moment's notice, so there really would be no need to have them waste time by looking for me when I can just come back easily."

"Well, either way, I'm sure that they're very worried and very sad..." Whisper crossed his arms and heard a noise. It sounded like crying, but it was very muffled and came from the direction of one of the tents. "Speaking of sad, do you hear that?"

"Yeah." Twilight walked closer and closer to Rarity's tent and put her hooves over the curtain doors. "It's definitely in here, and it definitely sounds like my friends."

When Twilight and Whisper pulled back the curtains and went inside, they were met with a peculiar sight. There was a fireplace with a few rugs scattered around the floor, and stairs that led up to another level of the tent. The walls were made of satin and there were lots of supplies of all kinds propped up by the walls.

They saw a couch in the middle of the tent and saw Twilight's friends sitting on it, sobbing and wailing uncontrollably with a ghostly flame consuming their bodies. The fire crackled and burned like an actual fire, but it did no real harm to them. Only Twilight and Whisper could see the flame, and all that they could hear from the five other ponies were cries.

"I can't believe we'll never see Twilight again!" Pinkie Pie blew her nose and wiped her tears with a tissue before they started up again. "And all because of some stupid ghost story!"

"Oh, why? Why did we have to come to the Everfree Forest for a camping trip?" Applejack buried her head into one of the nearby pillows, unaware that her tears were making the pillow soggy. "Now Twilight's gone, or maybe even worse!"

"How will we ever be able to live withourselves without her?" Rarity bawled, while also eating chocolate and ice cream to try and subdue her own wails.

"How weird..." Twilight looked at all of the crying ponies very closely. "Usually the girls get worried about me, but they don't cry. And even when they do, they don't all cry together."

"So you're saying your friends aren't usually ones to express sorrow over the loss of a comrade?" Whisper raised a brow.

"Oh, we are, Whisper. But we usually don't cry about it unless they're gone forever and there's no way to bring them back." Twilight turned back to Whisper and raised a hoof. "What do you think's going on here?"

"Hmm..." Whisper flew all around the ponies and watched them all cry for a few seconds more. It was only then that he noticed the purple ghost fires around them. "Aha! I've got it!"

"What? What is it?" Twilight ran up to Whisper.

"There's no doubt about it; there's a Yo-kai inspiriting your friends here somewhere." He took one last look at the blubbering mares before turning his gaze back to Twilight. "Quick! Flip the lens up and point it all around the tent until you see something out of the ordinary."

Heeding Whisper's words, Twilight flipped up the lens of the Yo-kai watch and examined the whole room. The noise from before reverbated from the watch as she looked around. Suddenly, her lens was fixated on something and twelve segments around the watch lit up before a blast of purple mist engulfed a small area above the girls.

When the gas died down a plump bird-like creature with blue feathers appeared in the tent. It had small stumpy feet and a crying face in its' chest. Its' neck and head were identical to that of a bird, but just like the ponies, it was crying its' eyes out.

"Wh-what is that?!" Twilight looked in awe of the bird.

"That is a Yo-kai; more specifically, that is Buhu." Whisper pointed Buhu out to Twilight. "Buhu is a Yo-kai that can dampen someone's mood in seconds. If it inspirits a person, then that person becomes so sad that they can't help but cry and wail like a baby," he said. "Buhu is most likely the one making your pony friends cry over your disappearance."

"So, how do we stop it from making my friends cry?" Twilight asked.

"There are two ways of dealing with Yo-kai: Peaceful negotiation, or exciting confrontation!" Whisper did a kneeling gesture before he punched the air with his fists. "But given that you don't really have any Yo-kai Medals yet, I think that Buhu should be dealt with by talking to him."

"But how can I possibly try to reason with someone who's making everyone sad?" Twilight looked at Buhu crying. His tears weren't as many as the ones from the girls, but they were still dropping nonetheless.

"You might be surprised. Despite his tearful nature, when he's not making people cry for the heck of it, Buhu is actually a great guidance counselor for someone who's had something on their mind for a while," said Whisper. "But that's not important now. What is important is that you stop him from making your friends cry before they cry so much that they expire completely."

"Okay. I guess it's worth a shot." Twilight walked up to Buhu with her breathing light and shallow and her knees slightly shivering.

"There, there. Just let it all out." Buhu whispered to each of the rest of the Main Six. "Just let your tears do the talking..."

"Umm... Hello?" Twilight spoke to Buhu. "I don't think we've met before. I'm Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship."

"Oh. Hi there..." Buhu turned his head away from Twilight and hung his neck. "I'm not really much for talking right now."

"Well, what are you doing here, anyway?" Twilight raised a brow at Buhu. "And why are you making my friends miserable? They didn't do anything to you."

"But you did something to them." Buhu looked back at Twilight. "You ran away from your friends because you were too smart and logical. You didn't want to be with them anymore, and they got really worried when you didn't come back." He flew down to Rarity and she cuddled him, thinking that he was a pillow. "I'm just here to help them cry the sadness away, so that they can move on and be happier."

"But you're making them cry too much!" Twilight blurted out. "Yes, it's okay to cry, but it's not okay to make others cry over things that aren't worth getting sad about!" She stomped up to the Yo-kai with fire burning in her eyes. "You should think twice before you make my friends upset!"

"Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't know... I guess I really am a bad Yo-kai after all..." Buhu started crying even more, almost to the point where his tears matched that of the ponies. "I should just go away and hide from everyone!"

"What?" Twilight's anger was quelled immediately upon seeing Buhu's crying eyes. "N-no! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you cry too! I was just trying to fix things. And now, I've just made them even worse."

"I'm nothing more than a burden. I shouldn't even have been born!" Buhu wailed as loud as he could. "All I do is bring misery to others!"

"No, no, no, Buhu. It's not like that." Twilight picked Buhu up with her magic. "You're not worthless. You're not insignificant. You're special in your own way."

"Why? All I do is cry and make others cry!" He swung his neck at her.

"Please, Buhu. All I want are my friends back." Twilight pulled Buhu into a hug and shed some tears of her own. "I love my friends, and I don't want to see them miserable. So please, just let them go back to normal, please..."

Buhu's eyes went wide and stopped shedding tears when he saw Twilight's own sorrow. He looked around at the rest of Twilight's friends and sighed before hanging his head. "Alright. But just for you, Twilight."

The purple flames vanished from the other ponies, and they too stopped crying. They dried their eyes and saw Twilight standing there in the middle of the tent. Their mouths showed big happy smiles as they jumped off of the couch and ran over to her.

"TWILIGHT!" They all shouted together before they pulled her into a big group hug, which Twilight was happy to return.

"Where were you?" Rainbow Dash nuzzled into Twilight's fur. "We were worried sick about you!"

"It's alright, girls. I'm here now." Twilight hugged her friends tighter. "There's no reason to be worried anymore."

"Twilight?" Buhu tugged at her mane. "Before I go, I want you to have this..."

A smaller white light appeared above Twilight, and the girls all stood back and watched as the light dropped into Twilight's hoof and transformed into a medallion. It was made of silver with a purple rim around what looked like a picture of Buhu on it.

"What is this?" Twilight asked Buhu.

"It's my Yo-kai Medal," he said. "If you ever need to call me, then just put my medal in the Yo-kai Watch, and I'll be there in a jiffy to make things better. Or worse."

"Aww, don't beat yourself up about it, Buhu." Twilight smiled and tousled his feathers. "You're a great friend to have, and I'm looking forward to seeing how you can help the ponies of Ponyville."

"Thanks, Twilight..." Buhu gave off a small smile before he disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"Uhh, Twilight? What in the heck was that?" Applejack raised her own eyebrow. She couldn't see any of what had transpired due to her lack of a Yo-kai Watch.

"Yeah, and what's that shiny thingy you've got on your hoof?" Pinkie lifted Twilight's hoof up and examined the watch. "Looks like it's from an entirely different world or something."

"Well, I'd be happy to explain to—"

"Twilight, my girl! That was amazing!" Whisper shook Twilight's hoof rapidly. "Buhu is a hard Yo-kai to reason with with all of his wailing, but you not only managed to fix your friends, but also get a Yo-kai Medal out of it! This is wonderful!"

"Whisper? What's a Yo-kai Medal?" Twilight looked at both sides of the coin. On the other side was a picture of an open eye on a purple background.

"Whisper? Yo-kai Medal? Sounds like you've had a long night, Twilight." Applejack put her hooves around Twilight's shoulders.

"A Yo-kai Medal is something that Yo-kai give to people ONLY when they've become true friends with them." Whisper held the medal up in front of Twilight's face. "Since you became friends with Buhu, he gave you his medal, so that you can call him at any time. For fun, for inspiriting ponies, or even for combat!"

"Combat? Why would I want to fight with these things?" Twilight took the medal back. "From the way Buhu acted, it stands to me that there's a great deal of Yo-kai stuff that I've yet to learn."

"Patience, Twilight. All in good time, my dear." Whisper helped Twilight put the medal away. "For now, your friend with the cowgirl hat is right. It's been a long day for you, and you probably want to get some sleep."

Twilight wanted to question Whisper about more Yo-kai related stuff, but as soon as she opened her mouth, she made a tremendous yawn. "Yeah, you're right, Whisper." She rubbed her eyes and smacked her lips as she went to her own tent. "It has been quite an eventful day, hasn't it?"

"I'll see you in the morning, Twilight." Whisper waved her off as she went out of Rarity's tent with her other pony friends towards their own separate tents.

Twilight unrolled her sleeping bag and slipped quietly into it, zipping herself up with her magic. As she snuggled into the fabric cocoon, she fell asleep almost instantly, yet the thought of all of the adventures she was about have still buzzed in her mind, and she couldn't wait to wake up tomorrow and explore with Whisper to see what new Yo-kai she would meet, and all of the new friends she would make.

The next day, Twilight and all of her friends had already packed up and were back in Ponyville. After what had happened with Buhu last night, they had all agreed to cut their camping trip short and save it for another time when there were less Yo-kai causing mischief.

Twilight travelled through the town streets with Whisper floating by her side. He was interested to see the town; mostly to see what Yo-kai were controlling who, but partially because he wanted to see what Ponyville looked like. As he saw all of the rustic straw-roofed houses, he smiled more and more.

"For a kingdom, this is quite quaint, Twilight," Whisper remarked.

"Thanks," Twilight blushed. "Even though I'm technically a princess, I wasn't really planning on making this place more futuristic or high-tech." She pointed up to the castle poking out of the mountain. "That place up there is Canterlot, and if you're looking for a real kingdom with royals and nobles, that's where you'll want to go."

"I see." Whisper looked at Canterlot and whistled. "And is this Canterlot place the capital of your world?"

"Yes. Two of the other princesses live there." Twilight used her magic to create a projection of the ponies she was explaining. "There's Princess Celestia, who raises the sun, and Princess Luna, who controls the moon." The picture then changed to show two other ponies. "There's also the Princess of Love, Cadence, but she lives in the Crystal Empire with her husband, Shining Armour, and their infant daughter, Flurry Heart."

"So, let me see if I'm getting all of this." Whisper held his hand out as he watched Twilight turn the projection off. "Celestia raises the sun, Luna raises the moon, and Cadence controls love?"

"Yes. And I am the Princess of Friendship," Twilight said. "I was given that title because me and my friends hold a special power. The Magic of Friendship?"

"The Magic of Friendship?" Whisper looked dumbstruck. "Would you care to fill me in on that?"

"Yes. Me and my friends have six special elements that can call upon a power unlike any other." Twilight pulled out a book showing six gemstones with different symbols. "Fluttershy represents kindness, as she's always willing to help someone in need; Rainbow Dash is the element of Loyalty, as she never runs away from her friends; Rarity represents Generousity, as she's always giving stuff instead of wanting or needing anything else in return; Pinkie Pie is the element of Laughter, as she keeps a smile on her face, regardless of the situation; Applejack's element is Honesty, as she never tells any lies about anything; and finally, my element is Magic. My magic far surpasses that of many other ponies, and I serve as the cornerstone of all six elements.

"When the six of us combine, we can utilize a powerful rainbow-magic that can put an end to even the strongest of enemies." Twilight looked up at the sky, seeing a rainbow streak between two clouds. "Together, we've saved Equestria more times than we can remember."

"Hmm. No wonder you weren't met with a terrible fate upon using the Crank-a-kai back at the Everfree Forest." Whisper looked up as well. "Most people who use the machine end up being transported to somewhere far away. I myself don't know where they end up, but I do often worry about where they are..."

"You're saying you don't know where they are?" Twilight looked back at Whisper.

"Nope. If they were in the Yo-kai World, then someone there would have reported it, since there's only been two humans in the Yo-kai World, and I doubt there'll ever be any more in the future." Whisper's eyes met Twilight's again. "But, you never know. Life is full of little twists and turns, after all."

"TWILIGHT!" Applejack came galloping down the road and skidded to a halt in front of Twilight. Her mane was frizzy, and she was panting heavily.

"Whoa, Applejack! Calm down!" Twilight gently brushed Applejack's hair back down. "Now, just slowly tell me exactly what happened, alright?"

"Have you seen Applebloom? She's been missing all day!" Applejack trotted on the spot. "Miss Cheerilee called me earlier and said she wasn't in class at all, and even when school broke up, I still can't find her! I'm in a right state, and I'm real worried that I'll never see her again!"

"Don't worry, Applejack. I'll find her for you." Twilight looked down at her Yo-kai Watch before looking back at her friend. "Where did you last see her?"

"I last saw her on Sweet Apple Acres, taking her saddlebags to school with her," Applejack explained. "But that's it. She just vanished off of the face of Equestria after that!"

"Hmm..." Whisper scratched his chin with his left hand.

"Do you have an idea, Whisper?" Twilight looked back at him.

"There's a Yo-kai definitely involved in this, but there's no way that they could've taken little Applebloom to the Yo-kai World." Whisper brought his hand back down to his side. "There's not even a portal or elevator of any kind that could possibly take a pony to the Yo-kai World anyways. So Applebloom is still on Equestria, but definitely not impossible to find."

"Oh, I don't wanna tell Big Mac or Granny Smith that Applebloom's missing." Applejack started to sweat. "They'd never forgive me for losing her!"

"If I recall, there's a Yo-kai that can make people invisible to the naked eye." Whisper pulled out what looked like a square slab of metal with a face on the back. He tapped on the screen, and a digital screen of a book opened up. "That very same Yo-kai might be responsible for Applebloom's disappearance."

"Whisper? What's that?" Twilight raised a brow at the computerized book.

"What? This?" Whisper fumbled around with the book and made it disappear. "N-nothing! Just a reference guide! It's not like it's an encyclopaedia or anything. That'd be ridiculous."

Twilight rolled her eyes. "Anyway. Let's check Sweet Apple Acres first, then we can find out where Applebloom could have gone off to." She started to make her way towards the farm with Applejack and Whisper close behind her.

Twilight, Whisper, and Applejack all arrived at Sweet Apple Acres. They walked up to the barn, past the apple trees, and up to the door. Twilight rapped on the door a few times, waiting for someone to answer it.

The door flung open, and Applebloom ran out. She had the same purple flame around her from when Buhu had been inspiriting Twilight's friends, but she wasn't crying. If anything, she looked perfectly normal underneath the fires.

"Twilight? Applejack? Someone?" Applebloom called out to everyone at the door. "Somepony answer me! I'm tired of being treated like I'm not there!"

"Applejack, can't you see? Applebloom's right here!" Twilight pointed Applebloom out to Applejack.

"Nope. Sorry, Twi. You're pointing towards the ground." Applejack shook her head. She couldn't see her sister at all.

"What?! But she's right here!" Twilight pointed even harder and grabbed Applejack's hoof. She pulled it towards Applebloom's. "Here! Feel it if you don't believe me!" She tried to make the hooves touch, but her jaw dropped when Applejack's hoof passed completely through Applebloom's.

"Twilight! Remember the Yo-kai Watch." Whisper pointed to it. "It can find the Yo-kai responsible for this little incident."

"Oh yeah. Almost forgot." Twilight flipped up the lens and pointed it around. Just like before, when she hit the sweet spot, twelve segments lit up, and the Yo-kai revealed itself.

A small creature that looked like it was a puddle of goop dressed up in a purple ninja outfit appeared behind Applebloom. There was also a sword sheathed into its' back, in case it was taken by surprise and needed to defend itself.

"Aha! Dimmy! Of course! He's the one behind this!" Whisper pointed at the Yo-kai responsible for Applebloom's disappearance. "Dimmy is a Yo-kai capable of making anyone seem invisible to the world. No matter how much they beg and plead and holler for someone to pay attention to them, Dimmy will make sure that there's nothing but thin air in their place when someone talks to them."

"I just wish this could end so my sister could see me again..." Applebloom sat down and curled up her tail as she hung her head.

"It's your choice, Twilight. Negotiation or confrontation." Whisper patted Twilight on the back. "You could try to reason with Dimmy and make a compromise, or you could summon Buhu and have the two fight."

"Well, Applebloom wants to be seen again, and this thing doesn't look as innocent as the last one, so let's try confrontation this time." Twilight stepped forward and pulled out the medal she had obtained last night.

"To summon a Yo-kai with the Yo-kai Watch, just slip the medal into the slot on the side, and the watch will do all the rest." Whisper pointed out the slot on the side. It looked large enough to hold the medal from before.

"Alright. Thanks, Whisper." Twilight nodded as she clutched the medal tighter. "Come on out, my Yo-kai friend! Calling Buhu!" Twilight flipped the medal into the air and used her magic to grab it. "Yo-kai Medal, do your thing!" She rammed the medal into the slot on the side.

"SUMMONING: EERIE!" The watch declared as a torrent of purple energy shot out of the exact same slot on the side. As the Yo-kai took shape, Twilight heard a weird song coming from the watch too.

Lookie-lee, lookie-lee
Flippidy-dee!
Lookie-lee, lookie-lee,
Bubba Eerie!

"Buhu!" He announced his name once the song had ended and he had taken his real form. "What's up, Twilight?"

"Buhu. I need you to deal with a Yo-kai that's been causing trouble." Twilight pointed it towards Dimmy. "Now, I know that you're not much of a fighting type, but I don't think that it wants to listen to reason either."

"It's no big deal, Twilight. At least it's better than the documentary I've been watching..." Buhu flapped its' wings over to the other Yo-kai and tried to put on an intimidating look with its' bird head. "Hey, you!"

"What?" Dimmy looked over and saw Buhu looking at it. "Hey! That pony has a Yo-kai Watch! That's not fair! Dimmies aren't meant to be seen by mortals!"

"Well, if you had any sense like a real Dimmy would, you wouldn't have inspirited this poor child in the first place!" Whisper cracked his knuckles as he locked gazes with Dimmy. "Why would you go out of your way for something as mean as this?"

"I dunno. I'm bored, and I saw so many other Yo-kai inspiriting ponies in this new world, so I decided, 'to heck with it! This Dimmy is going to be an inspiriting Yo-kai, instead of a cowardly hide-in-the-shadows one'." Dimmy looked over at Twilight and Buhu. "But, since you wanna put up a fight, I suppose I could also prove myself as a fighting Yo-kai as well..."

"You really wanna make me do this?" Buhu sighed as he looked back at Twilight.

"We have no choice, Buhu. He's not going to listen to reason, so it's only fair that we take manners into our own hooves." Twilight looked sternly on at Dimmy.

"Alright. I suppose it could be entertaining for someone." Buhu set its' sights on Dimmy and charged in on him, trying to ram into the Yo-kai.

"You can't hit what you can't see!" Dimmy vanished into the ground, causing Buhu to fly right past it and crash next to him.

"Think I'm done yet?" Buhu got back up and watched Dimmy pop back up. "Take this!" Buhu launched a salvo of tears from his chest face that hit Dimmy square in the face.

"Hey! Cut that out!" Dimmy protested as he tried to push the water away. "I already had my bath!"

"This is a weird fight." Twilight looked back at Whisper as the two Yo-kai continued to tussle. "Is this how all Yo-kai fights go down?"

"Well, not all the time." Whisper looked on and saw Buhu and Dimmy push against each other. "Dimmy and Buhu are only 'E' rank Yo-kai. It's the higher ranking ones that usually put on more of a show in combat."

"Ah. That would explain why they're just slamming into each other most of the time." Twilight gave him a patient smile before she looked back at the fighting Yo-kai.

"You haven't got the guts to beat me!" Dimmy struck Buhu hard, but not strong enough to knock him out of the sky. "This girl is going to remain invisible forever!"

"No, she's not!" Buhu started to gather purple energy as he stopped in mid-air. He hummed a single note that gradually got higher in pitch as his talons curled up tighter and his flapping got stronger.

"Huh? What's going on with Buhu?" Twilight noticed the energy charge from Buhu.

"Buhu is charging a Soultimate. It's their signature move for a fight." Whisper put both of his hands on Twilight's shoulders and peaked through her hair. "Soultimates are extremely powerful moves, and often after using them, that Yo-kai has to rest before using it again. But, on the plus side, they're usually what ends a confrontation altogether."

"Alright! Go, Buhu!" Twilight cheered her friend on as he gathered some last slivers of energy.

"Boohoo Blast!" Buhu declared as a gloomy indigo torrent of enery burst out of his body and swallowed Dimmy whole. The blast was so strong that he was thrown from the ground and into the nearby wall, making the purple fire on Applebloom dissipate.

"Huh? Applebloom?" Applejack noticed the filly was now sitting down on the ground.

"Applejack?" Applebloom's ears perked up when she noticed Applejack call her name.

"You're back!" Applejack sprinted over and pulled Applebloom into a tight hug. "Thank Celestia above. I was really worried that I'd lost you forever!"

"Aw, shucks, Applejack. I wouldn't leave the farm for anything." Applebloom returned the hug with a smile on her face. "I'm just glad that you can see me again."

"Well, I guess that settles that little mystery." Whisper looked at Applejack and Applebloom's hug. He, Twilight, and Buhu went over to Dimmy, who was still rubbing his head from the impact. "Now, as for you..."

"Alright, alright! I give! Just don't hurt me like that again, alright?" Dimmy stood back up shakily and backed up against the wall.

"Making ponies invisible is a very bad thing to do, Dimmy." Twilight looked down at him and glared. "You should be ashamed of yourself. You nearly separated Applebloom and Applejack forever!"

"I'm sorry, alright!" Dimmy waved his hands in front of his face. "I just thought I could be a big and strong Yo-kai like Roughraff, Blazion, or Mochismo." Sighing, he looked down at where his feet would've been. "But it turns out I'm nothing more than a snake in the grass, huh? What good is being invisible if it just casts you out from the ones you love?"

"Dimmy. I know what you did was wrong, but if you just wanted to prove that you were strong, you could've just gone out and done some training, not just inspirit someone for the sake of it." Twilight's face melted into a sweeter expression upon hearing Dimmy's story. "I'm willing to forgive you and let you travel with me, though, as long as you promise to me that you won't inspirit someone without my permission, OK?" She held out her hoof.

"Yeah." Dimmy looked up at Twilight and took her hoof, giving her his Yo-kai Medal in the process. "You'll need this. You know, to keep me in check."

"Thank you, Dimmy." Twilight took the new medal and put it in her mane.

"Twilight. What are you doing?" Whisper asked as Twilight tucked the medal away.

"Well, I've got no pockets, and there's no other way to put these medals away for safekeeping." Twilight showed Whisper the medal for Dimmy. Just like Buhu's medal, it showed his portrait on a silver coin, but this time with a dark blue frame.

"Well, there's no need to fear. Whisper is here!" He raised both of his arms, spawning a book from white light. "Here you are, Twilight. Put your medals in here."

"What is this?" Twilight opened the book up, revealing blank pages with different holes that were similar in size to the Yo-kai Medals. There were twelve slots on every page, and many more pages beyond the one she was on.

"This is the Yo-kai Medallium." Whisper took both of the medals that Twilight had collected, flipped a few pages, and gently placed the medals into two of the slots. "This handy-dandy book is the must-have for any friend of the Yo-kai species. It contains enough spots for every recorded Yo-kai in existence. Heck, maybe even more!" He smiled. "All alphabetized by both tribe and name, it's the perfect way of finding any Yo-kai you want, and fast."

"There's an awful lot of pages in here, Whisper." Twilight flipped through the pages once Buhu and Dimmy's medals were securely placed into their slots. "How long do you think it'll take to complete this book?"

"Well, let's run some statistics on this, shall we?" Whisper pounded away at a little calculator. "So, we divide the days of the year by the situations in which a problem might arise, carry the potential lack of problems, and multiply by your skills, and I would say that with over four-hundred Yo-kai, this might take well over a year."

"A YEAR?!" Twilight stumbled backwards and landed on her flank.

"But don't worry, Twilight. You have me, Buhu, and now Dimmy to help you out." Whisper massaged Twilight's shoulders in an attempt to make her stresses fade away. "And besides, you're the Princess of Friendship. What could possibly go wrong?"

"Something tells me an awful lot..." Twilight's head sunk into her chest as she tried to process the thought of making friends for over a year. With the many different species of Yo-kai that Whisper has calculated, and with everything she had done at the moment, she knew that it would be a long, long time before her journey would be done.

Author's Notes:

Before I leave you now, I have to ask you all a question regarding chapters in this story.

Do you want them to be two short adventures for one chapter, or do you want me to make them longer but just have one Yo-kai per chapter? Leave me your thoughts in the comments section below, and make sure to stay tuned for more chapters in the future.
