Hello everyone, I'm Crimson Ink, sister of Galaxy Nebula. Today, I'm going to be telling you a story. This isn't your typical Thomas story. Today, well, today's special. Today I'm going to be telling you a story about Thomas, his pals, a family divided, and the Magic Railroad that brought my family back together. You see, every story, like a railroad, has it's heroes. Not everyone is a hero. However, heroes are judged based on their actions, and the actions of one engine on Sodor, well, it took a lot of courage. You'll see more of his courage as we plunge into our very special story, featuring Thomas, his pals, and a very beautiful engine named......Lady.

    Chapter 1: Beginnings

It was a bright and lovely day on Sodor. Thomas was chuffing down his usual branchline route. "Peep peep! Hello!" The blue engine chuckled. Sadly, he's running a little late today. This is Sodor, where Thomas and his pals live and work. It's only one end of Twilight's universe.  Thomas chuffed by James, Henry and Percy, three of his friends. "Henry, wake up!" Thomas called to the big green engine, who jumped and went right back to work. Thomas whistled hello as they whistled back. I hear Twilight loves helping out here, with Sir Topham Hatt's invitation of course. Gordon, the big express engine, was waiting impatiently for Thomas. The clock struck Noon, and Gordon began counting.

"1...2....3....4...." Gordon began, still counting. "5.....6.....7.....8......" He counted before Thomas blew his whistle.

"Who do we appreciate!" Thomas chuckled. "Practicing your numbers, eh Gordon?" Thomas asked the big express engine. "That's a good engine." Thomas giggled. Gordon sighed.

"I'm counting how many seconds late you are, little Thomas." Gordon replied. He eyed the sign and smirked. "What does that sign beside you say, Thomas?" He asked. Thomas viewed the sign and read it.

"Hmm. 'Sodor Railway: really reliable and right on time.'" Thomas read. Gordon scoffed. "'Sorry for any delays, the Sodor viaduct is in need of repairs.' Signed: Head of the Railway: Sir Topham Hatt." Thomas finished. Gordon chuckled.

"Yes, but sadly little Thomas, you were not on time." The big express engine explained. Thomas rolled his eyes.

"Oh, don't be such a bossy boiler, Gordon!" He said. Gordon just rolled his eyes. "Anyways, I'm meeting Ms. Sparkle later today. She's going to be looking after us while Sir Topham Hatt takes a much needed holiday." Thomas smiled. Gordon was confused.

"Oh little Thomas, I do believe we can take care of ourselves." He said plainly before a huge olive green diesel thundered down the line in between them, making Gordon jump. "Who was that!" Gordon gulped. Thomas coughed from the dust.

"That, Gordon, just arrived. I've heard of him, too. He comes from the Mainland. His name is Diesel 10. Apparently before Sir Topham Hatt left, he ordered a new engine to help us with the trains." Thomas explained. Gordon looked at Thomas.

"You know Thomas, maybe, we do need Ms. Sparkle here after all, hmm?" He asked. "On time!" Gordon added. Thomas agreed. At the other end of Twilight's universe, far away across oceans of time, up and over Muffle Mountain, and hidden deep in a valley, is Twilight's hometown, Shining Time. Oh! There she is, in the flower planter. Twilight was a young aged woman of about 25. She had bright purple hair with pink streaks through it, bright purple eyes, and she always had a radiant smile on her face. She was in her conductor's uniform, a purple cap, black blouse and on top a purple jacket with red and gold highlights, black dress pants, and short, purple heels. Today she was in an extra cheery mood. A woman walked up to the station building, nearly scaring the engineer  Vanilla Mocha. Mocha was 23 with brown hair, brown eyes, wearing a white jacket and shirt with a gold star on the jacket's front. She also wore a black skirt with tights and heels. She was Shining Time's engineer.

"Starlight, I thought Rarity told you that you weren't allowed to come back to Shining Time." Mocha told the woman, Starlight Glimmer. Starlight was roughly 24 who had purple hair with green streaks, purple eyes like Twilight, and a snappy attitude. She was wearing a purple shirt, black leather jacket, dark blue jeans, and black boots. She smirked.

"Oh, my dear Mocha, I'm only back to finish what I started 5 years ago, and that's to find Galaxy and his engine!" She said. Mocha scoffed.

"No one in Shining Time knows the entrance to Galaxy's workshop in Muffle Mountain. He's been very reclusive since the incident you caused." Mocha told Starlight. Starlight huffed and stomped away, nearly knocking over the planter Twilight was in. Twilight yelped and fell, grabbing the edge to pull herself up. "Oh, sorry Twilight! I had no idea you were in there!" Mocha exclaimed as she steadied the planter. Twilight adjusted her cap.

"Not too friendly, is she?" She asked the engineer. Mocha shook her head. You know, between you and me, I think you're going to help Twilight and Thomas somewhere in this story. Thomas was chuffling down his branchline back to the sheds, thinking to himself.

"Hmm, if Sir Topham Hatt ordered Diesel 10 to help us, there's sure to be trouble right around the corner!" The little engine thought as he was thinking. James, the red mixed traffic engine, was in the sheds trying to shoo a fly away that was buzzing too close to his face. The fly landed on his nose and James sneezed.

"Scandal, fly! Boot, fly! Oh, what's the word..." James asked himself before it came to him. "Shoo Fly! That's it!" James chuckled. The fly kept buzzing around. "Better still, buzz off!" He wheeshed as Thomas backed down the siding, hitting the buffers. His eyes spun dizzily around as the impact shocked him.

"Oh, botheration!" He exclaimed. James chuckled.

"You weren't concentrating, Thomas. Luckily for you the buffers are there." He told him. Thomas was confused.

"I thought that's what buffers were for? To stop engines from crashing." The little tank engine replied. "Um, James, this may seem like a stupid question, but why are you in the sheds?" Thomas asked the red engine, who groaned.

"I'm feeling a little blue, which isn't so hot when you're red!" James complained sarcastically. Thomas raised an eyebrow. James sighed. "I was naughty and Sir Topham Hatt told me to think about all the ways I can be really useful. Then, and only then, can I come out again." He explained. Thomas smiled.

"He's only trying to make this a better railway for us, James." Thomas said, not knowing that Diesel 10 was slowly creeping up. James tried to warn him, but Thomas continued speaking. "I mean, he even says the hard we work, the less we'll need diesels to help." Thomas added.

"Help you?!" Diesel 10 cackled. Thomas yelped in surprise. "You'll always need help! Because steam engines...are cowardly, cranky, worn out hunks of metal who couldn't hurt a fly!" The big diesel laughed. James growled, the fly still buzzing around him.

"No, we are not!" He protested. Diesel smirked.

"Yes, you are." He chuckled. James was mad now.

                   "Aren't!" He yelled. Diesel growled.

"Are!" He shouted. "Now, old Fat Hatt thinks I'm here to help you miserable steamies. I'm here to find a lost steam engine." Diesel explained. James and Thomas were confused. "I'm going to destroy her, then destroy you! Then, you'll be nothing but useless scrap!" Diesel cackled as he rolled away. Thomas blew his whistle angrily.

"You won't destroy us, Diesel, and you certainly won't destroy her! We won't let you! Nor will Twilight, whom I'm off to fetch now!" Thomas muttered as he chuffed away. The only question on James's mind was....

"What lost engine?" James asked himself, raising an eyebrow in confusion.
