A ScootaBelle Story
Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - Thunder and fears
Previous Chapter Next ChapterWhen Sweetie Belle arrived at her room she could see that Scootaloo was a bit nervous about what Rarity said.
"Don't worry Scoots, she'll talk to Cheerilee about it" Sweetie Belle said giving her friend a big smile.
"Wait... Did I just call her Scoots? Please don't notice anything" Sweetie Belle thought since it was normally only Rainbow Dash who called Scootaloo 'Scoots'.
"Heh, thanks 'Sweets'" Scootaloo said trying to make her nickname into a nickname for Sweetie Belle.
"OH COME ON! Well, at least she only thinks I'm being extra friendly" Sweetie Belle thought happy that Scootaloo didn't get suspicious.
They then played some board games like 'Saddle Ship' and 'Marenopoly' until Rarity came up and told them dinner was ready.
As they were eating dinner they heard something slamming into the outside of one of the walls.
A minute of smashing into the wall later they saw a little letter come in through the door and a gray mare with a bold mane waving outside the window.
Rarity walked over and read the letter.
Dear citizen of Ponyville. The storm has had to be extended since there has been a lack of storms this winter. Please stay inside your house until tomorrow. That is all.
"Well, it looks like there's going to be a sleepover here at Rarity's house tonight." Rarity said happily.
Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo looked confused as they walked over to Rarity to see what the letter said.
Rarity then gave them the letter as she could see the smile on both of the fillies face get even bigger as they read through the letter.
"Sweetie Belle? Could you go upstairs with Scootaloo and help her getting everything ready for her sleepover?" Rarity asked thinking that her sister still wanted to spent some time with Scootaloo.
Scootaloo was about to run with Sweetie Belle when she heard Rarity's voice.
"Scootaloo. I promise I won't tell anyone about what you had to go through other than that rich meanie bullying you" Rarity said giving Scootaloo a reassuring smile.
Scootaloo was a bit shocked at first as she had completely forgotten that Rarity knew about what happened.
"Thanks Rarity" Scootaloo thanked with a smile as she ran up the stairs to help Sweetie Belle.
As the two fillies prepared the guest room to be used, Sweetie Belle kept thinking about how wonderful it would be to be together with Scootaloo. But the fears took over and she had to find an excuse to go to bed earlier so she could think of something else.
"Scootaloo? I need to go to bed early. Rarity told me that it was my punishment for being out in the cold for so long." Sweetie Belle said, trying her best to lie even though she hated it.
"Huh? O-okay" Scootaloo said a bit disappointed.
Sweetie Belle quickly ran downstairs and told Rarity her lie and that she should just play along.
They all went to bed about 10 minutes after.
"Scootaloo! What I'm trying to say is that... I-I love you." Sweetie Belle finally confessed. She was very scared about what her friends reaction would be.
"You?! You, love me?!" Scootaloo asked surprised.
"Y-Yes! Wo-would you like t-t-to be my special somep-pony" Sweetie Belle had finally done it. She had asked Scootaloo to be her special somepony, and she had never been so nervous about an answer in her life.
"Sorry, but I don't go out with losers that doesn't have any talent or coolness at all!" Scootaloo yelled angrily.
Sweetie Belle's heart felt like it was shattered. She turned around and ran away from Carousel Boutique, then from Ponyville. She kept running until she found a little hill.
When she finally climbed up the hill she noticed Scootaloo standing up there. The shock was so big that she fell backwards tumbling down the hill.
"Ha! Get lost Weaky Belle!" Scootaloo yelled as lightning struck down behind her.
Sweetie Belle woke up screaming from her nightmare. The moon was still up so she had to somehow fall asleep again.
She tried to fall asleep again but right as she was about to fall asleep, a lightning struck down, making Sweetie Belle yelp in fear.
She couldn't take anymore. The fear of Scootaloo's rejection and the thunder outside was too overwhelming. She broke down on the bed.
She just sat there, crying into her pillows for about 15 minutes until she noticed the door slowly opening and Scootaloo entering.
Scootaloo had been awake from having trouble falling asleep. So as soon as she heard her friend crying in room just right of her own, she went to see what was going on.
Scootaloo was shocked to see Sweetie Belle crying into her pillow. It reminded her of herself when she was crying in the clubhouse earlier. Sweetie Belle had helped her so much by comforting her and telling her it was okay.
She thought about getting Rarity but that would probably be like trying wake up somepony who had been turned to stone. No. This was something Scootaloo had to do for her friend. To show her that she isn't alone just as Sweetie Belle showed her earlier.
"What's wrong Sweetie?" Scootaloo asked her friend as gently as she possibly could.
"Ju-just leave me alone!" Sweetie Belle yelled as the thunder continued to hammer through the sky making Sweetie Belle yelp in fear.
Scootaloo was shocked and angry over seeing her friend treat her like this. But the feeling of anger instantly stopped and got replaced with pity when she saw how much pain Sweetie Belle was in.
"Please Sweetie Belle! Let me help you! Do you think I would hurt you, my best friend?" Scootaloo asked hoping her best friend would understand.
"That's just what you say! You laughed at me and called me Weaky Belle! Friends don't do that!" Sweetie Belle yelled.
That seemed to have caught Scootaloo off guard. She never did any of those things.
Then she realized it. Sweetie Belle had dreamt of Scootaloo laughing and mocking her.
"But why would she have nightmares about that? We've been friends for so long and she knows she can trust me. What could she fear about me?" Scootaloo thought to herself.
Scootaloo then shook the thoughts away and proceeded walking towards the furious Sweetie Belle.
"Sweetie Belle, please liste-" Scootaloo said as she was cut off by Sweetie Belle throwing her pillow at her. Luckily Sweetie Belle wasn't good at throwing and the pillow was very soft, so it only pushed her back a bit.
"It was just a nightmare Sweetie Belle! Please calm down!" Scootaloo said walking towards her friend.
She got over and jumped onto the bed instantly grabbing Sweetie Belle and holding her close exactly like she did with her.
At first Sweetie Belle struggled, trying to get out of Scootaloo's grip. It took about a minute for her to calm down. Scootaloo could feel that she stopped trying to get free and looked to see if she had calmed down.
She saw Sweetie Belle's horrified face when she realized what she had done to her best friend.
"P-please just go Scootaloo. I'm a monster. I had a nightmare that my own fears created. And then I blamed it all on you. Accusing you of doing all those terrible things and even throwing a pillow at you." Sweetie Belle cried out, ashamed of what she had done.
Scootaloo was shocked by the word Sweetie Belle called herself. Feeling sad for her friend, she tightened her grip around Sweetie Belle while whispering to her in a tone that Sweetie Belle had never heard Scootaloo speak in before.
"Sweetie Belle.. You're not a monster. It was your fears controlling you." Scootaloo said softly while letting Sweetie Belle rest her head on her shoulder.
"B-but, it w-was still me! I-it was still me who di-did it!" Sweetie Belle cried out shivering even more violently than Scootaloo had in the clubhouse.
"Let me ask you something Sweetie Belle. Did you enjoy yelling at me or throwing that pillow? Do you regret the things you have done? Did you ever want to yell or hurt me?" Scootaloo asked still keeping a very soft tone in her voice.
"N-no! I would never hurt you! I-it hurts so much I ended up d-doing so." Sweetie Belle said as her tears ran down her face.
"See? You never wanted it to happen Sweetie Belle. It was your negative emotions taking over you. You're not negative Sweetie Belle. You're sweet, funny, silly and also pretty cute sometimes. Those negative emotions wasn't you and you're not a monster" Scootaloo explained as she gently began to stroke the her friends mane.
"Bu-but" Sweetie Belle was about to continue but was cut off by Scootaloo.
"No buts. You're not a monster. I wouldn't give the title of being my best friend to you if you were a monster" Scootaloo said giving a warm smile to Sweetie Belle.
The two fillies sat there for about two minutes until the thunder began again making Sweetie Belle yelp in fear.
Scootaloo noticed that Sweetie Belle's shivering had increased after the lightning.
"You're scared of thunder, aren't you?" Scootaloo asked.
"P-p-please don't l-leave!" Sweetie Belle cried out randomly.
"Huh? Why would I leave?" Scootaloo said curious to why her friend would think she would just leave her.
"Be-because you need s-sleep. I-I can't f-fall asleep. The th-thunder is too s-scary" Sweetie Belle said while crying into Scootaloo's shoulder.
Then Scootaloo got an idea to calm Sweetie Belle down. She hesitated a bit thinking about what Rarity's reaction would be. But then she remembered that she also wants the best for Sweetie Belle. And if that really was true, then she would understand.
"Then I guess I'll have to sleep in here to make sure you're safe" Scootaloo said giving Sweetie Belle a comforting smile.
Sweetie Belle was too tired and afraid of the storm to think about Rarity's reaction so she didn't worry that much.
"Yo-You'd really do that for me?" Sweetie Belle asked surprised.
"Of course! I can't just leave you in here feeling horrible." Scootaloo answered helping Sweetie Belle lay down.
Scootaloo then laid down on the bed and grabbed Sweetie Belle again, holding her close.
Sweetie Belle was very surprised at first and was blushing deeply. But then her body starting feeling warm and fuzzy.
She felt the feeling of safety again and finally calmed down from all the drama.
It only took two minutes for Sweetie Belle to fall asleep, and she had no nightmares for the rest of the night...
Next morning Rarity woke up a little earlier than expected since she had to make breakfast for two fillies and herself.
"Hm, that's odd. Sweetie Belle usually comes down when I'm in the middle of making our breakfast." Rarity thought concerned for her sister.
"I'd better go check on her" Rarity said to herself while walking towards the stairs.
She then remembered the food and ran back in the kitchen to see the eggs she prepared were so warm that Rarity had to carefully pick them up with magic to not burn herself.
"Or, I could wait a bit so their food doesn't burn." Rarity thought continuing to prepare their food.
"Sweetie Belle! Scootaloo! Breakfast is ready!" Rarity called out to the two fillies.
No one answered.
"Allright. What's going on here?" Rarity asked herself as she walked up the stairs and towards Sweetie Belle's room.
She entered and looked in Sweetie Belle's bed, only to figure out there was a certain orange pony holding her little sister.
She took a few steps back from the shock of seeing Scootaloo with Sweetie Belle.
"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE" She yelled in a very angry tone.
That was easily enough to wake up both Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo.
The two fillies noticed Rarity.
Scootaloo was quick to let go of Sweetie Belle and took a few steps back in the bed wondering what Rarity's reaction would be... Next Chapter: Chapter 5 - Fixing mistakes Estimated time remaining: 51 Minutes
