Chapter 2 - Overwhelming Pain.

After Diamond Tiara walked away, Scootaloo was broken. She just wanted to go home and try to calm down after what had just happened. But right as she were about to run home, a picture of Sweetie Belle crying alone in the bowling center appeared in her mind.

It was simply too much for Scootaloo to see her leaving one of her best friends behind like that.

"I've got to try and play it cool. Please don't notice how pathetic and useless I am Sweetie Belle. I don't want to lose our friendship." Scootaloo thought as she ran towards the bowling center.

When she arrived at the bowling center she could see Sweetie Belle waiting outside.

"Hey, Sweetie Belle! Sorry it took so long" Scootaloo said as a frown appeared on her face.

Sweetie Belle was quick to notice the frown

"Hi Scootaloo! Is something wrong? I thought you were exited to go bowling." Sweetie Belle asked obviously very concerned for her friend.

"Quick Scootaloo think! Think of a good excuse!" Scootaloo thought. She knew that Sweetie Belle was her friend and that she only wanted to help. But the thought of them losing their friendship because of herself was more than enough to keep her from saying anything. She also didn't want to have her friends worry over someone as useless as herself.

"Umm.. No! I just thought I was late, that's all!" Scootaloo said being very nervous as to if her friend would buy it.

"Please Scootaloo! I know that wasn't what happened. I know when my friends are sad and doesn't want to talk. But please Scootaloo, tell me the truth. It hurts to see you lie like this." Sweetie Belle could hardly say the words being on the edge of crying from seeing her friend in so much pain.

Scootaloo could see the concern and worry in Sweetie Belle's eyes.

There was an awkward moment of silence between them until Scootaloo couldn't take anymore. She ran away from the bowling center and towards the clubhouse as fast as she could.

Sweetie Belle felt like her heart was broken. She had never felt anything like this before, even worrying about her sabotaging her sisters career because she overreacted didn't give her this feeling, and she was her family. She then slowly walked down the streets towards the clubhouse to see if she could figure out something to do there.

When Sweetie Belle arrived she heard some noise coming from the clubhouse.

"Hm.. I wonder if Apple Bloom decided to go hang out with us anyways." Sweetie Belle thought as pictures of the events at the bowling center kept reminding Sweetie Belle of how painful it must have been to be in Scootaloo's position back there.

But as she came closer the noise became more clear. It sounded like someone was crying in there.

Sweetie Belle quickly ran over to the window to see what was going on.

There she was. Inside the clubhouse was Scootaloo. She had curled herself up and was crying into her tail. In front of her was one of her Rainbow Dash posters.

"Why d-do I have to be so w-weak? Wh-why can't I be tough! Why do I have to be everything that you aren't. Why do I have to be so u-useless" Scootaloo said as the pain in her body got even stronger by saying the word 'useless'.

Sweetie Belle had seen enough. She couldn't stand watching her friend feel this way.

She quickly got over to the door and slowly went inside.

Scootaloo was still crying into her tail, and she was too sad to notice the noise of the door opening.

She put her hoof on Scootaloo's shoulder to get her attention.

Scootaloo looked around to see Sweetie Belle looking concerned at her.

Even though Sweetie Belle's face was full of concern, Scootaloo was so scared of her friend being angry at her for just running off like that, so the only thing she could see on Sweetie Belle's face was anger.

She ran over to a corner of the clubhouse, she then curled up into a corner while shivering like crazy.

It hurt Sweetie Belle so much to see her friend be scared of her like that, but she had to stay strong for Scootaloo's sake.

She went over to the corner Scootaloo was sitting in and sat down beside her.

She hesitated for a moment but then grabbed Scootaloo and held her close while stroking her mane with her other hoof.

Sweetie Belle knew that it wasn't normal for two friends to be that close together but somehow it just felt right.

"It's okay.. I'm not mad at you.. Please just tell me what happened while you got the bits for the bowling center." Sweetie Belle whispered trying to calm Scootaloo down.

"Wh-why do y-you even want to know? I'm just usele.." Scootaloo said as she was cut off by Sweetie Belle.

"Scootaloo! You're NOT useless! You are an amazing, tough, wonderful filly and don't ever let anyone else tell you otherwise, okay?!" Sweetie Belle said in a very serious voice. Scootaloo had never heard Sweetie Belle that serious, she had barely heard Sweetie Belle being serious at all.

Scootaloo didn't say anything, she was too sad to even form out any words.

"Scootaloo, I'm worried about you okay? I want to help you. Please! The only times I have ever seen you like this is when Diamond Tiara were bulling you." Sweetie Belle said in a comforting but yet serious voice.

But then Sweetie Belle noticed Scootaloo's face when she said Diamond Tiara's name.

"Wait... W-Was it Diamond Tiara that bullied you?!" Sweetie Belle asked surprised.

Scootaloo slowly nodded.

"WHAT?! Bu-But I thought she was done with that! I thought she had changed!" Sweetie Belle said as anger and frustration filled her body.

Scootaloo then decided that it was finally time to speak up and tell the story. It was too painful to keep in.

"Sh-she told me it was all just an act." Scootaloo said as her tears ran down her face.

Sweetie Belle held Scootaloo close and started stroking her mane again.

Scootaloo then started telling the story.

While Scootaloo was telling the story, she kept getting interrupted by her own sobbing, Sweetie Belle had to reassure her several times that everything was okay.

After Scootaloo was done telling the story Sweetie Belle began to find it hard to keep her anger towards Diamond Tiara to herself.

She didn't know what it was, but seeing Scootaloo like this made her more angry than she had ever been.

"I-I'm sorry i didn't tell you what the problem was right away." Scootaloo apologized feeling guilty for not saying anything and doubting her best friend.

"It's okay Scootaloo, you didn't do anything wrong. If anyone did something wrong it was 'her'" Sweetie Belle said sneering when she said the word 'her' as if it was an insult.

"Thank you Sweetie Belle" Scootaloo said while bringing Sweetie Belle into a hug.

"Huh?" Sweetie Belle said while blushing from the hug.

"Thank you for being such a good friend and not giving up on me. Even though Apple Bloom is also a good friend, you somehow feel different to me. Like you care about me a lot more than her, and like you know me better than she does. I don't know what it is but it makes me feel happy. So thank you, for being such a good friend" Scootaloo thanked.

Sweetie Belle was on the edge of tears until Scootaloo stopped talking, then the tears began flowing down and she threw herself into Scootaloo for a hug.

"Thanks Scootaloo. It means a lot to me, especially when it comes from you" Sweetie Belle said when her tears had finally stopped.

After the two fillies had calmed down, they went outside.

Right as they got out, Sweetie Belle heard a familiar voice calling her name.

"Sweetie Belle darling! Its getting cold! We have to get home! I don't want you catching a cold or getting sick in this cold weather" Rarity said as she called for her little sister.

Sweetie Belle was just about to go down to Rarity when she realized that Scootaloo's house was in the other end of town. It would be too cold for her to go all the way over there without at least getting a cold.

Then an idea came to her mind.

"Scootaloo? Would you like to stay at my place with Rarity today? I'm sure she wont mind, I wouldn't want you catching a cold when going all the way home." Sweetie Belle explained.

"Okay! That sounds like fun!" Scootaloo said with joy and excitement in her voice. Sweetie Belle was glad to see she was feeling better again.

Sweetie Belle then ran down and informed Rarity of their plans.

Rarity was a bit unsure first, but when she realized that it was too long for Scootaloo to walk to the other side of town before catching a cold, she finally agreed.

After that they all walked happily back to Carousel Boutique.
