Equestria was having the most sunny days it had seen all year. The Pegasus ponies had made sure that summer would go bright and cloud-less, and they did a fine job keeping it that way. Any clouds that did manage to escape from the weather factory in Cloudsdale were soon hunted down by the quickest Pegasus pony Equestria had seen in years: Rainbow Dash. As soon as she heard the call that a cloud had floated out of her home, she was on it like a northern bullet.
She didn’t seem herself, though. She wasn’t smiling when she kicked the clouds to dust, and didn’t stick around with her friends to gloat about it. She would just fly back to her cloud and sleep. Fluttershy couldn’t even get to her, even though she was her best friend. One day, however, Rainbow Dash did come back to Ponyville, and went straight to Fluttershy’s place.
Fluttershy was tending to a parrot’s leg. The parrot had flown straight into a glass window and broke it’s right leg on impact with the ground. Fluttershy was just finishing wrapping it in bandages, when a knock came from her door. Fluttershy flew over to her front door, but her rabbit, Angel hopped in front of it, spreading her arms across and her head quickly.
“Oh, Angel, honey, would you please move? Someone’s at the door.” Fluttershy said, but the bunny still shook her head, and spread her arms out even wider.
“Please, Angel?” Fluttershy asked, “Pretty please?” The bunny still shook her head.
“Well, I didn’t wanna have to do this...” Flutershy warned, and gave the bunny the most puppish eyes she could muster. The bunny stared back for a few moments, smacked her forehead, and moved out of the way.
“Thank you, dear,” Fluttershy said smiling, and opened the door.
There, on her threshold, was Rainbow Dash. Her eyes were red, but she had a grin on her face.
“Hi, Dashie,” Fluttershy greeted her, “I wasn’t expecting any company today,”
“Well, I’m expecting you to come over Apple Jack’s place later today!” The Pegasus said cheerfully, “I’m gonna be choosing a new pet today, and I’d like you to come!”
“But I have plenty of animals here,” Fluttershy said, pointing her hoof to the inside of her house.
“Flutter, I’ve already seen the animals you have!” Rainbow said, “Besides, I already chose the next two animals to be my pets!”
“Well, I guess if your certain,” Fluttershy said, thinking what the animals could be, “then I suppose I could come. What are they?”
“Oh, you’ll see when you get there!” Rainbow said, “So, you in?”
“I guess, but I have to help the other animals first,”
“Well, come around at about three-ish, ‘kay?”
“Well, okay, sure, why not?”
“That’s the spirit, Flutter! See ya then!”
And Rainbow took off, soaring over towards Cloudsdale.
As three o’clock struck, Fluttershy said goodbye to all her pets (and I mean ALL her pets) and flew off towards Sweet Apple Acres. She tried not too look down as she sailed across the sky, and landed in front of Apple Jack’s front barn. But there was nopony there. Fluttershy knew that it was three, so she couldn’t be early or late. She looked around the entire barn and didn’t find a soul, pony or pet. She was just starting to get the idea that she had got the wrong time, when a voice from behind whispered in her ear:
“Hey, Flutter!”
Fluttershy whipped around, startled by this sudden voice, to come face-to-face with Rainbow. She had red stains all over her hooves and face, but was still smiling broadly.
“Dashie?” Fluttershy ask, “What happened? Where is everypony?”
“Everypony?” repeated Rainbow, “I suppose they all got dead tired and went to rest for the evening. As for me, I’m covered in bone marrow. I was wresting Winona over a bone, and it got a little dirty. But, anyways, you got a little bit of dirt on your cheek, there,” Rainbow said, pointing her hoof to her right cheek. Fluttershy started to wipe it off, when Rainbow held out a blue napkin.
“Take this,” she said, and Fluttershy, not needing the napkin, but also not wanting to be rude, put it over her cheek and started wiping. She then decited that she’d better clean the rest of her face, too, and wiped anything that was on her nose off. The napkin smelt pretty funny, Fluttershy couldn’t identify what the smell was, not even when she sniffed the napkin twice.
When she was done wiping, she felt a little drowsy.
“Why do I feel so sleepy all of a sudden?” she wondered aloud.
“Well, probably because there was chloroform in that napkin,” Rainbow said, smiling evily. Fluttershy gasped and tried to keep her ground, but soon fell over, sleepy gracefully.
Fluttershy awoke several hours later to a dull beeping noise, but she wasn’t sure if she had, because it was just as dark with her eyes open as it was having them closed. She looked around, trying to see just a hint of light, but none could be seen any where she looked, except a heart monitor next to her. When she looked behind her, however, she found that she couldn’t! Her waist was strapped down with belts, preventing her from turning. She tried to move her front hooves, but found that they also were restrained! Even her back hooves were tied, and Fluttershy couldn’t move.
Suddenly, light finally appeared in the middle of the room. It was a bright, white flash that almost blinded Fluttershy, but as it died down, and Fluttershy’s eyes re-adjusted to the light, she saw that she was in Apple Jack’s apple cellar. But there weren’t any apples to be seen, just a very violent seen of blood spattered walls and a bone-littered floor. In the center of the room, a stage was set up, with red curtains closed.
Looking to her left, Fluttershy saw something that made her screech: Twilight was restrained right next to her, unconscious, with her head bowed low. Hearing the shriek, Twilight woke with a sudden jerk and looked around the room frantically. When she saw Fluttershy strapped down next to her, she did a double-take and starred at her friend, a look of absolute horror on her face. There was an extra cord strapped to her forehead, stuck there by a suction cup.
“Oh, Fluttershy!” she said, “Not you! She couldn’t have gotten you!”
“Are those voices I hear?” said a familiar voice behind the stage, “Or just some ponies mumbling in their sleep?”
“W-who are y-you?” said Fluttershy, shaking from head to hoof.
“You don’t know?” said the voice, “Or can’t remember?”
And the stage curtains flew open, and behind them sat Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack in two red, fluffy chairs. Apple Jack looked like she was sleeping, her head tilted on her chair.
“Spooky, isn’t it?” Rainbow said, getting up from her chair and pacing the stage, “Looks like something right out of the horror stories! Someone held against their will, a phsycopath acting like nothing is unusual, a dark, underground setting...”
“Rainbow Dash, you let us go right now,” Twilight said threateningly, “Or I’ll use my magic to undo these binds myself!”
“Oh, I wouldn’t do that, Twi!” Rainbow said, snickering,But Twilight was concentrating on a spell, but right when it fired there was the sound of screamimg as both Twilight and Fluttershy were electrocuted. Once it died down after a bit, Rainbow turn to Fluttershy. “Fluttershy!” she said, her face dead serious, “You see that cord on Twilight’s forehead? That’s an electrical wire used to prevent magic! If Twilight tries any magic tricks while that cord is there, zap! She’ll be electrified for ten seconds flat!”
“That cord was hidden in my library!” said Twilight, shocked and looking at the cord, “How did you find it?”
“I ain’t saying nothing, Twilight!” said Rainbow, “But I will say it was a pretty ‘Spikey’ situation!”
“Dashie,” said Fluttershy, still extremely scared, “Why are you doing this? You said you found new pets!”
“I did find new pets,” said Rainbow, “You and Twilight,”
Fluttershy’s heart monitor accelerated twice as fast, and Twilight’s skipped a beat.
