Chapter 13: The Voice of the Forest.

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

As the light dies of Life, Death takes that light and makes it transparent.

Dunmer looked around at his army, the Undead carrying supplies and ammunition to others who need it.

"Guess the United States and Chinese military advancements and strategy got me this far." Dunmer looked at one Undead, its head was rotten but its brain hard wired for commands and expertise killing.

They cleared out most of the Everfree of its inhabitants. Whatever stayed and defended its home was killed and skinned. The fur was mostly used as tent patching or other means of defense. And the meat should be obvious. The Undead don't waste anything.

Bones...meat...and the intestines...so visible...

Just like what happened to his wife...

He can remember that fateful day when he was out with his daughter and wife on a family outing in the German country.

The day when the first trumpet sounded from the heavens...

-----

"Daddy! I found a four leaf clover! Can you put it in my hair?"

Dunmer took the clover and placed it in his twelve year old daughters hair. Her green eyes matched the clover, her black hair contrasted both to make them pop. She was beautiful.

His wife watched with a happy smile, her warm, and motherly smile...

Her eyes a light blue, her hair blond. Her smile...it was so addictive like any drug. You couldn't get enough of it..

Then...out of nowhere...a trumpet as loud as God himself when he parted the seas, sounded as the suns rays breached the overcast day.

The clouds parted and it started to rain fire, angles came down bearing arms and armor of gold and silver.

But that wasn't all, the Holy Spirit herself landed at Dunmer's feet, her spear at his neck as the angles who followed her killed his wife and daughter in front of him.

Her holy spear penetrated his flesh like butter, no pain, no sound. Just emptiness.

They purged his soul, and yet did not take it...

Then the demons came, overseen by a large black raven. The Bird of Death himself overseeing the holy purge.

They too also killed, but mutilated the souls and body's. Then the Holy Spirit and Death Bird met face to face.

And the War of Heaven started, Armageddon.

It was only when 5 million souls left to be collected did the two forces stop. Dunmer on one knee in the middle of a wasteland vowed to restore what has been taken. Humanity.

It was unjust, unfair, and his daughter was only twelve. Why oh why couldn't she at least live to have a man of her own? A family she can experience herself, the choice was taken away...

Vengeful, he took up battle stations against both forces, demons and angles alike. Once there was only 3 million, they called off the war, now souls were business. Dunmer requested an extended life for sentimental reasons. And everybody got a seventy year longer lifespan.

Then, the lie he told Selina, the perfect silver tongue, to set her off and distract Remorel while Dunmer drained both powers and kept them secret for so long...

-----

Now, those memories haunt him like ghost, he knows what he must do. He needs to revive Humanity, he wants to revive his daughter...

'Daddy, come play with me...'

A voice drew him from his post. It took him deeper into the forest, him forgetting the army and concentrated on following the all to familiar voice.

He kept following the voice as mossy stones appeared from the ground.

'Daddy, welcome to my home...'

Dunmer looked and gawked at what he sees.

A cathedral like castle. Its ruins still look like it can fend off a rampant force of over a thousand.

Dunmer walked up the great stone steps as he approached the castle doors, he stepped in as the doors opened for him.

He stared at all the décor that was inside, completely a turn around from the outside.

There was a red rug in the hallway from his place at the door. Chandeliers light the roof of the castle from their place. Paintings glare down at Dunmer as he passes them.

Then, Dunmer felt a powerful presence, not quite as powerful as Remorel or Selina, but powerful enough for him to be intrigued.

He looked around for the source, and at the end of the red rug was a throne. In the throne was a green orb with a slight purple aurora.

He approached the orb, its colors pulsating as if it was a heartbeat. Each step made excitement a prime factor at his continual approach.

When he made it before the throne, the orb stopped pulsating and seemed to take notice of his presence.

'Daddy, the gods have destroyed our home...so we now can take what they did to ours to them...let us show these beings what happened to you, please daddy, for me?' The voice said without addressing where he was, and why he was here.

But Dunmer had the urge to say "Yes, my daughter."

-----

Remorel watched as the princesses played chess. For the tenth time in a row.

So far, Luna was winning by three.

"Haha! The score has been quadrupled!" Luna yelled and raised a hoof.

'Ok, make that four ahead of Celestia.'

Celestia was legitimately getting annoyed by her sisters bragging, and jealous of her expertise.

Remorel could sense the emotions from a mile away. And yet, Celestia kept her mask on as she smiled.

"Well done sister, you beat me again. Guess I'll let you have the fudge cake with extra cream tonight." Celestia said through gritted teeth.

Luna smiled and picked up her chess board, and left the room with a wide smile on her face.

Celestia dropped the mask and sighed, she laid down on the ground and stretched despite the odd position.

"See what I mean? She hasn't lost a single match from anypony. Even if they know all the tricks, Luna seems to know more." Celestia whined.

Remorel chuckled and thought 'To see such a powerful individual in such a way...' he would've died right there and then if this was Selina.

now they were alone in the room, the sun lowering steadily on the horizon.

Celestia used her magic to lower it, her spell dropped when the moon came out and took its place.

"Guess that's it for me tonight, tomorrow we need to figure out what happened to Hallow Shades, oh those poor ponies..." She spoke in a depressed tone, even making Remorel slightly sad.

"Yeah, I will get on that when the first ray of sunshine touches the sky. You can count on me princess." Remorel got up from his sitting position and went to exit the room.

"Remorel, wait." Celestia called out.

Remorel stopped and turned to see Celestia in her bed, covers slightly under her waist.

'More embarrassment, what's going to happen...' Remorel thought.

"Yes Celestia, what do you need?"

"Can...can you sleep here for tonight? I don't want to be alone..." Celestia spoke quietly.

"Can your sister do that?" Remorel asked, slightly more blunt sounding than he wanted.

"Well, she handles night court. So she's usually busy..."

"Why not one of your guards?" Remorel kept asking, more curious.

"They don't do anything unless ordered...I don't want to order them.."

Remorel sighed "Ok, I guess I can stay"

She smiles "Oh thank you, please, there is enough room for you too." She slides over to make room for Remorel.

He snaps his boney fingers, his armor and weapon disappearing. All that there was were black jeans with burn marks.

Remorel climbs into bed with Celestia at his side, she smiles as she snuggles into him.

'How...did this happen so quick?'

Not long after that thought, he can hear Celestia snoring into his chest.

He looks down at her, her drool already forming upon the bed sheets.

'Now that's adorable.'

Remorel laid his head back down, and started to drift off into sleep.
