As they ended the song, everyone in the hall was clapping for the Rainbooms.

"That was amazing! I totally feel like we can win this year!" Scootaloo shouted.

"Top notch. You've all got some sick beats." Sonic said.

"Yep, all part of being awesome." Rainbow Dash boasted. All of the people started laughing at this.

"That was a wonderful performance." a voice called out. Turning to the voice, they saw a tall woman with white skin and light rainbow colored hair. "And I'm assuming that you two are new to this school." she went on pointing to Sonic and Christian. "I'm Principal Celestia, and I'm here to show you to around." she went on.

"We'll catch up with you girls in the library!" Sonic shouted as they walked away. As the tour came to an end, they noticed a poster promoting an event called The Friendship Games.

"Hey, Principal Celestia, if you don't mind me asking, what are these Friendship Games everyone's talking about?" Christian curiously asked.

"Oh! The Friendship Games. It's an event we have with another school, Crystal Prep every four years for sporting events, and to get both schools closer together. You two can sign up if you want." Celestia explained.

"Thanks, I think we will. You can count on us to be here for the school." Sonic said in utmost confidence. As they finished the tour, both of the boys headed towards the library. When they got there, they were greeted by the girls as Sunset started talking.

"She was definitely doing something to the statue – or was going to." Sunset said.

"We managed to drive her away, but she might have already did something." Sonic sadly said.

"Do you think she came through the portal from Equestria?" Fluttershy asked.

"No, I'm pretty sure I woulda noticed that. I think she was from over here." Sunset replied.

"Well, that's a relief. The last thing we need is another magical so-and-so bent on world domination comin' over from Equestria." Applejack jokingly said as she winked at Sunset.

"Agreed. I have no interest in another fight against the powers of evil magic. The wear and tear on my wardrobe is just too much to keep up with." Rarity argued.

"Still, a mysterious figure snooping around the portal? Don't you wanna know what she was up to?" Sunset asked.

"I don't even wanna guess." Fluttershy whispered while shuddering.

"Well, you don't have to. Because I've totally figured out who it was!" Rainbow Dash gloated.

"Ooh, ooh! A nighttime statue cleaner? A magical portal maintenance maintainer? A gardener?!" Pinkie Pie asked while popping out of nowhere. Rainbow Dash sighed and told everyone who it was.

"Seeing as how they got off a bus from the city and got back on a bus headed to the city, I'll bet they go to..."

"Crystal Prep." everyone except Sonic, Christian, and Sunset sighed.

"Yep. With the Friendship Games starting tomorrow, they'd totally try to prank us by defacing the Wondercolts statue." Rainbow Dash angrily said.

"Why would anyone take a bus all the way from the city for that?" Sunset Shimmer curiously asked.

"Because the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts are our biggest rivals?"Applejack replied.

        "Because that's just what the students at Crystal Prep would do? Rarity sighed.

"Because even though they beat us in everything – soccer, tennis, golf – they still have to gloat!" Rainbow Dash shouted as she showed a picture of a vandalized Wonder Colts statue.

"Seems kinda silly to me."Sunset Shimmer replied with an annoyed tone."

"Sorry, but we kind of have to agree. This is just some silly rivalry." Sonic added as Christian nodded his head.

"Silly?!" the others shouted.

"So I guess you think the Friendship Games are silly, too." Rainbow Dash angrily replied.

"Well, it's not like we'll be fighting the powers of evil magic." Sunset sighed

"No. We'll be fighting against a school full of meanies. Not everything has to be magical to be important." Fluttershy added.

"You're right. I'm sorry. I know it's a big deal." Sunset apologized.

"Whoa whoa wait a minute, what's going on?" Sonic sternly asked. They explained everything that had happened before they showed up. "Wow, okay then." Sonic said.

"Anyways, we're sorry for saying that this wasn't a big deal, because it really is." Christian apologized.

"That's putting it mildly, darling. They're still revamping the playing field in preparation." Rarity scoffed.

I just don't understand why there's this big rivalry. Aren't the "Friendship Games" supposed to be about our two schools getting along? Sunset asked.

"Well, it's kinda hard to get along with someone who beats you at everything." Applejack explained.

"Not anymore! This time, things are gonna be different." Rainbow Dash boasted.

"What do you mean?" Sunset asked.

"Oh, you'll find out." Rainbow Dash. slyly said.

It was later that day when school started, everyone was gathered in the gym for an announcement.

As I am sure you all know, tomorrow, Canterlot High School will be hosting our fellow students from Crystal Prep Academy as we join together in the spirit of excellence, sportsmanship, and fidelity to compete in the Friendship Games." Celestia announced. Students could only be heard giving unenthused cheering and sparse applause.

"Wow, talk about having no school spirit." Sonic quietly joked to the others, only for Christian to hit him on the head.

"Since the games only happen every four years, I'm sure you're all curious what goes on." Celestia continued.

"You mean other than us loosing?!" someone blurted out.

"And that is exactly why I've asked Rainbow Dash to come up and give you all a little, um... context." Celestia said. Rainbow Dash then walked up on stage and tested the microphone

" Thank you, Principal Celestia." she says as she clears her throat. "I know a lot of you might think there's no way we can beat a fancy school like Crystal Prep at anything." she went on.

"Unless it's a "losing to Crystal Prep" competition! 'Cause we're really good at that!" Pinkie Pie shouted. Rainbow Dash groaned at this.

"And I know that CHS has never won the Friendship Games even once." Rainbow Dash went on.

"Oh, dear. I hope this speech isn't meant to be motivational." Rarity worried.

"You and me both. I hope she doesn't break into a song." Christian whispered back.

"Crystal Prep students are super athletic, super smart, and super motivated. But there's one thing they aren't. They aren't Wondercolts!" Rainbow Dash yelled. Music then started playing over the speakers.

"Of course I had to be wrong." Christian sighed.

Everyone in the room was cheering after the performance.

"Rainbow Dash, that was amazing! Even I feel like we can win!" Fluttershy said.

"I feel like my school pride is at an all-time high!" Rarity exclaimed.

" Is anybody else wonderin' how Dash ponied up without playin' her guitar?" Applejack

"I know, right? It's probably because I'm so awesome!" Rainbow Dash boasted.

"Maybe. I mean, you are awesome, but there's gotta be more to it than that, right? It just seems so random." Sunset Shimmer added.

"Well, it would be nice if you girls could get a handle on it. We'd like to keep magic as far away from the Friendship Games as possible. We don't want to be accused of cheating. Principal Luna sternly stated.

"We don't need magic to defeat those hoity-toity Crystal Preppers." Rarity stated. Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

"Still, the Friendship Games are serious business. We don't want any surprises. Especially the kind that could cause us to forfeit. Sunset Shimmer, you came here from a world of magic. Perhaps you can get to the bottom of our magical development." Luna added.

"I'll do my best." Sunset replied.

"Well we're going to get some exercise." Sonic said as he and Christian walked out of the room. As everyone disbanded, Sunset sat down and started writing.

[voiceover] Hey, Twilight. Haven't heard back from you yet. I guess you must be pretty busy with your role as princess. But I could really use your advice right now. You see, I've been given the job of keeping magic under control here at CHS, even though I still haven't quite wrapped my head around it. And now after seeing Rainbow Dash pony up the way she did, it makes me think her magic might be... changing. Everyone is looking to me to figure things out and I really don't wanna let them down. But I'm not sure I have enough experience with friendship magic to solve this.
