Chapter 1: A Beautiful Day's Interruption

A Beautiful Day's Interruption

Twilight Sparkle was sat with a fresh new book from Canterlot in front of her, along with tea to her right. Around her, her friends occupied themselves with conversing, playing, and messing around with each other. Rainbow and Pinkie were discussing what it would be like it Pinkie had wings, Rarity and Applejack were enjoying the rest of their lunch, and Fluttershy was tending to her animals, as usual.

The whole scene was serene to the alicorn. Everything seemed normal to her. And just to think, if she hadn't met them, this scene wouldn't have existed. It reminded her of how much she cared for all of them. Even if one of them was gone, it wouldn't be the same. All the adventures they've shared, the monsters they've fought, and the moments they've enjoyed in each other’s company was what filled the joy in Twilight’s heart.

“Darling, if you never put that book down, your tea will be cold!” reminded Rarity under the shade of a tree.

“Though Ah’m sure ya’ have a ‘Heatin’ Up Spell’ for that, don't ya’ Sugarcube?” Applejack mused playfully.

“Very funny Applejack, but that's actually true. There is a spell for that,” Twilight blushed.

This caused the two ponies to snicker while trying to drink their own tea. Rarity was the one that blew it out of her nose, creating a scene of hilarity.

“Hey guys! What's so…” Rainbow trailed off.

“Aren't you going to finish your sentence, Rainbow?” Twilight asked, trying to settle her giggles from the previous moment.

But Rainbow didn't speak at all. Her eyes widened as she looked up at the sky. Soon after, Pinkie Pie gasped profusely.

Suddenly, the ground appeared to shake slightly, as if a tremor was snaking underneath. A giant shadow cascaded over them, leaving them in the dark. Fluttershy’s animals all ran away into the forest in terror. Whatever had blocked the sun made sure its light wasn't visible. Twilight finally looked in the direction everypony’s faces were looking.

A giant object hovered in the air near them. This wasn't anything small. The object, or craft, was at least a mile wide. It's unbelievable size engulfed the lands near them in darkness. Even worse, the craft was moving.

“What in Celestia…” Rarity trailed off before fainting on to the grass.

“What is that thing?!” Rainbow screamed.

“Ah don't know Sugarcube, but whatever it is, it doesn't look good.” Applejack said, petrified by the sight.

It looked like a massive ship of some sort. That was the conclusion Twilight came to. But no technology in Pony History was even slightly compared to this phenomenon. The ship took on the color black, with a rectangular indentation wrapped around the center of it. It wasn't nearly as tall as it was wide, taking on the shape of a saucer of sorts. At the bottom of the ship, barely visible, seemed to be an entrance or docking bay. Even the doors were huge.

The sight alone was terrifying, and not long after Twilight and her friends noticed it, screams emitted from Ponyville not too far away.

“W-where's it heading, Twilight?” Fluttershy gulped, shaking dreadfully.

Twilight’s line of sight traced a direction in which the massive ship was moving in. Oh no.

“It's moving towards Canterlot!” Twilight yelled, alarm spreading through the five.

“Twilight!” came a distant young voice behind them.

Spike came running as fast as he could, a letter clutched in his paw. “It's the Princess!”

Twilight immediately opened the sealed parchment and read the only four words written down.

My Throne Room, NOW.

Looking back up to face the ship, Twilight turned to her friends. “Princess Celestia wants to see us now! Let's go everypony!”

Applejack and Pinkie started running towards the castle, with Fluttershy flying not far behind.

“W-what about Rarity?” Spike asked, pointing to the unconscious unicorn.

“I've got her!” Dash swooped in, grabbed Rarity, and lifted her on to her back, flying towards Canterlot. “Come on Twilight!”

“Spike, hop on!” Twilight ordered, allowing the little dragon to climb on top of her. She started in a full run, catching up to the others. Once doung so, she grabbed  Applejack’s, Pinkie’s, and Fluttershy’s hooves before teleporting to Canterlot herself.

This is going to be a very bad day.
