Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Former Shadowbolt
Previous Chapter Next ChapterSunset Shimmer had started to show Toxigo around Canterlot High, showing what it has to offer. And Toxigo was very impressed to see what they had, but he still stayed silent for most of the time.
"Science Lab's down there, computer lab is on your left, and also right here coming up is the music room."
As the two of them moved along, Toxigo was looking at all of the rooms that the school had to offer, and he was very impressed. They were all better than what Crystal Prep had to offer, and plus he stepped into the school for only a few minutes and no one was being mean to him. Not to mention Sunset Shimmer.... She was beautiful... and that face, the sweet, innocent face... how can anyone not love a face like hers.... But he stopped when something caught his dark and grim eye. He stopped in front of a display case with pictures of the competitor groups from the Friendship Games last year. He couldn't help but snarl at the sight of old memories that were constant reminders of what he hated. Sunset eventually stopped after she noticed he wasn't moving, and she walked back to see him looking at the display case
"Oh, I see you're looking at some of our old photos from the Friendship Games last year. That was... very interesting to say the least. "
Toxigo was once again silent like he normally was, and continued staring on at the Shadowbolts photos. Sunset didn't hear a response from him, and she started to get a little worried.
"Are you okay? You've been staring at the display case for a long time and I'm starting to get worried." asked Sunset.
Toxigo decided that he couldn't hide what he felt about them. Since now that he's going to Canterlot High School, he could tell them how he felt about Crystal Prep Academy and badmouth everything about them since he had a major hatred. He already knew how much Canterlot hated Crystal Prep, and maybe for once there would be some people who would take his side.
"Let me ask you something. What do you know about the Shadowbolts?"
"Well I know that they're our biggest rivals who beat us at everything. And some... other things."
"Would those other things be that they have the audacity to accuse Canterlot of cheating in a game when everyone was attacked, resulting in them going and blackmailing their top student into releasing a power she had no control of?" Tox turned to face Sunset while raising one brow looking very pissed off.
"Um..."
"Don't shrug it off, Shimmer-cakes. I know this happened, all of Crystal Prep and Canterlot knows this happened. But here's something else I must ask. How much, do you know about the Shadowbolts?"
Tox had stepped a little closer to Sunset, with one eye glowing with anger.
"Well... not a whole lot actually."
"Well let me tell you something. You questioned my entire appearance at the front doorway, well... that's because of the Shadowbolts. They did this... to me."
Sunset took in consideration of what he said, and thought came into her mind.
"Hold on, are you--"
"I'm an ex-Shadowbolt. I used to go to Crystal Prep Academy, but I dropped out because of, everything they did. The Friendship Games, the students, and even Principal Abacus Cinch. And what they did was...." Tox's fists were clenching white, and his teeth were grinding, only for him to breathe in and out, "Forget it. You don't need to hear my side."
"No, what happened?"
"Sunset, no one ever shows they have any concern for my well being so why should I bother you?"
"You aren't bothering me. Its okay." Sunset placed a hand on his shoulder, but then quickly retracted and blushed.
"Alright, I'll tell you. But, its not very, pretty....The Shadowbolts, are lethal. They're psychotics. They're homicidal maniacs. They didn't care for any of their own safety regarding the games, or any of yours, or mine, and their cruelty, landed me as a broken, disabled, freak. Ever since the Friendship Games, they've been becoming insane, wanting revenge, wanting to use that magic to attack all of you as their own form of personal revenge."
Sunset then listened in on his story, wanting to know what exactly made him leave.
"Well if you're from Crystal Prep, how come you're coming here? Usually those who go to Crystal Prep are--"
"Obnoxious, whiny, little jerks who only care about winning and nothing about what happens when you push someone too far into unleashing a supernatural power they never seen before?" Tox finished. "That's where my story comes in..."
"Well why did you go to Crystal Prep to begin with?" Sunset asked stopping partway in the hallway.
"When I came to Crystal Prep, I hoped I could one day I could make a difference in this world. Like maybe work as a military solider or a police officer. But all that school did was make me hate my life, stay away from people, go into isolation, and lose my faith in everything. And from that school, I hated EVERYTHING!"
Sunset was now getting a little worried. The tone in his voice sounded like he'd been holding in all of this anger for a long time and was about to unleash it.
"I hated Principal Cinch...I hated my classmates....I even hated myself! And what's worse is all of the horrible things, they did to me. When Twilight transformed into that raging she-demon, I had no idea we were going too far! It was from that attack and terrorization, I had realized all of us were making huge mistakes. Our own minds were becoming insane, and all out of wanting petty revenge. But... not everyone saw the light. Because I was the only one that wanted to right my wrongs, they would torture me nonstop, And worse... they... went too far."
"How far do you mean?" Sunset asked.
"This supposed 'bipolar' chick named Sour Sweet, got me into an accident that resulted in me losing my ears and I had to get these synthetic replacements" Tox said sounding like hyperventaliating, but then stopped to take a deep breath and calm down.
He then turned his head to the side showing one of them, and Sunset could see the top part move up and down, and a small antenna extend from the top.
"Needless to say, they've actually improved my hearing. And she, along with those other girls that competed in the Friendship Games blackmailed me into not telling anyone about it, because they knew that I was an orphan, and if Cinch found out that I was an orphan living underage in a house by myself, I would get kicked out of CPA."
"I don't see the logic in that, but go on" said Sunset.
"But... there's more. Indigo, is the reason, I have this." Toxigo proceeded to pull off his black arm stocking, which revealed the synthetic limb, which made Sunset gasp and placed her hands on her face.
"She ran over my arm with her car, and she pulled the same blackmail stunt...." And out of nowhere he slammed his fist right against the side of the wall, luckily no damage or dent was forged into it.
"But the last straw that had been done, was by a rocker student like you, his name's Neon Lights... During shop class, he wasn't careful with the working drill and he forced the drill bit while it was spinning right into my eye."
Tox then placed his synthetic hand over the eyepatch on the side of his face, and Sunset could see a tear come down his only existing one.
"He took away, one of the only things I value most of myself... and he didn't even care... and after several operations, it couldn't be fixed. So this eye patch was all that could be done. But it still kills me...how... none of them care what they did!" He paused at this as he had a hard time getting this out.
And... I... Ugh, part of me wishes they all burned in the gates of Tartarus, and suffered in a fiery meltdown, and part of me wishes that the she-demon of Twilight zapped me with that magic so I didn't exist anymore!" Toxigo finally had let out of the frustration, sadness, and emotion he'd been keeping in for all of these years. He then dropped to the floor, in tears from one eye, and Sunset moved over and held him in a hug.
"Oh Tox... I'm so sorry... I didn't know Crystal Prep could do things like that."
Around the corner, Fluttershy came round and saw Sunset comforting the new student.
"You okay? What's wrong?." said Fluttershy.
"Our new student's an ex-Shadowbolt. Apparently they did some horrible things to him and I guess all the pent and rage just finally came out after seeing the pictures from the Friendship Games last year." Sunset replied.
"Are you sure you're okay?" asked Fluttershy.
"No... I'm not..." Tox then faced Sunset with a bloodshot eye. "I'm sorry Sunset... I... I shouldn't have yelled at you. You didn't deserve that..." Toxigo said still in tears.
"Its okay. Just tell us how you feel." Sunset answered.
"Alright..." Toxigo explained.
Luckily with Fluttershy and Sunset around he was okay. He explained to them everything that the Shadowbolts had done to him, and they listened to everything. They understood why he was in the condition that he looked like, she understood his utter hatred for Crystal Prep, and the all of the emotional, mental, and physical pain he was in. But he didn't tell Fluttershy or Flash about how exactly he blew up Indigo's car due to not wanting to give himself away, but Fluttershy stayed around to offer him, her kindness.
"Its okay, you don't have to worry any of Crystal Prep anymore. You're here at Canterlot High, and we don't do those things. All we give is the kindness of friendship." said Fluttershy. Toxigo felt much better knowing that the school he was at wouldn't be trying to hurt him.
"Thanks, Fluttershy. But wait, we only just met, how come you're being nice to me?" he asked.
"Sometimes we just have to show a little kindness." And from that very line, a burst of yellow glowing energy shined from her body, and she floated in the air, spawning pony ears, wings, and a lustrous long ponytail. Toxigo just stayed on the stairs watching as she went through the pony up, and then once she landed back on her feet, he stared at the strange magical occurance with both amazement and confusion.
"Well, that happened. But, its magic. I'm not gonna question it. I already questioned Cinch's logic at the Friendship Games, and from everything I've seen from you girls, its just magic."
Tox then took a quick look at his watch and noticed the time.
"Well, I better get going to class. And I'll go see the rest of Canterlot High. Thanks for listening to me, and thanks for not hurting me the minute I came in the school." Toxigo said thanking Fluttershy and Sunset.
"Its not a problem at all, if you have any problem just talk to me." Sunset replied with a smile.
Sunset and Fluttershy walked off into the hallways leaving Toxigo pondering what had happened.
"She ponied up, but how? There is magic here but just how did that happen? I'll find that out later, best they not know what I am. Cause if they knew, Ooh... Well, at least they didn't pick up on this thing." Tox then stared down at his golden equine amulet again, and looked back ahead again just staring into the hallway where some of the students were hanging out in. Toxigo then left the hallway into another, also jamming out to his music that he played without a headset. Luckily the entire school was in its break session, so he could jam out. He pulled through his playlists and hit Long Tall Sally by Little Richard, and just danced around in freedom. Far from the 'prestigious' hell that lived in the form, of Crystal Prep Academy.
