Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Weekend at Toxigo's

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Another week had past for the students at Canterlot High, for them it was just same old, same old. But for Sunset's friends, they were going onto another hang out with Toxigo. This time, they were invited over to his house for a sleepover for Friday evening, so all of them were finally going to be able to see his new home. All 7 of them have brought their sleeping bags and gear and were either walking or driving their way to Tox's. As they saw the front lawn and outer exterior look of it they could see a few things. The outside of it looked like a Japanese styled house with arches going out on the corner ends, with a mini swamp surrounding the front with a few plants and lily pads floating, and there was one pathway walking over to the door. Along with those, there were small trees with pink flowers blooming from them that were on opposites sides of the bog water.

"Oh my goodness, I love the nature. Its breathtaking." Fluttershy said with happiness.

"Not bad. Very nice." Applejack responded after.

"Are we going stay and watch his bog grow or are we going inside?" Rainbow complained.

The group then walked on the cobblestone pathway over to the door and knocked.

"Who is it?"

"We're here!" Pinkie called out in a sing-song voice.

Tox opened up the door, and gestured for them to come inside.

"Welcome to my home."

The seven girls were going 'Oohs' and 'Ahs' at some of the things that were inside his home. The saw some posters for pegasi flyers called the Wonderbolts, a few plants, and old and unusual objects that they could only assume were relics or mementos from back in Equestria.

While they were looking around they also saw a few bookshelves built into the walls with such a huge amount of books that Twilight had to keep herself from constantly harassing Tox just to see what he had. As they moved their way over to the living room where Toxigo was hanging out they also saw a few bathrooms, a very large kitchen, and what they could guess was an office room but it was closed and locked. So they entered into the living room where a TV show was playing on the station.

"How did you get this place?" Rarity asked. "It is extravagant."

"Well, I can't say much, but I will say this. Apparently the portal to Equestria and back to Earth turns my golden coins into very high amount of cash. And with that, I got to pick the house I want, and I just simply needed to move my belongings over into my new home." Tox replied.

Once everyone took a seat on any bit of couches or chairs, everyone then proceeded to find a seat on any area of furniture and while they began their conversation they also looked at some of the things he had inside of his house.

"Oh, can I offer any of you a drink of any kind?" Tox asked.

Soon Tox started offering them drinks, some of them which took kindly and said yes.

They caught sight of many old items that Tox explained were old items he brought over from Equestria, some DVDs on shelves, and some more random items. Eventually the group started watching TV and eating snacks. And as the slumber party continued, they got to learn a little more about him, and a few more things about Equestria.

"So wait, you tried to make an online video series giving info on where you're from, but people took it as a joke?" Rainbow asked.

"Yes. It started out just as me attempting to get help to say I'm from another world, but as others saw it, they just assumed it was a comedy show. People never took it seriously. But then again I'm a human trying to tell someone I'm from a world filled with magical flying horses. Who's the crazy one now." Tox replied.

Everyone gave a nod, but Fluttershy could see Rarity's attention wasn't on their conversation. "Toxigo darling, I apologize for staring, but what is that around your neck?" Rarity asked politely.

"Oh this? This everyone, is the Alicorn Amulet." Tox replied.

Everyone's face shown they were intrigued by the golden jewel.

"What exactly does the 'Alicorn Amulet' do?" Applejack asked.

"The Alicorn Amulet basically gives a pony the powers of the Alicorn, its pretty powerful stuff." Sunset replied with a smile, but then grew dark. "But there's a bit of a side effect to it..."

"What do you mean by side effect?" Fluttershy asked.

"One of the effects include that the more it gets used, the more corrupted the pony becomes. And there are a certain amount of spells that just cannot be performed like duplicating another target, changing one's gender, bringing one back from the dead, time travel, super speed, immortality, etc" Tox finished.

"Oh... my..." Fluttershy cooed.

Everyone nodded at Fluttershy's response. However, a question had erupted into Sunset's mind.

"Wait, if that amulet can corrupt anyone or 'anypony', how come it's not corrupting you?" Rarity asked raising a brow.

Immediately everyone stared at Tox with a hint of awkwardness at Rarity's question.

"Thats... actually a very good question." Tox replied. "I don't know why. This thing has a mind of its own mind you. But for some reason everytime I use my magic, I don't think it did anything. But honestly I'm just thankful I'm not corrupted and hellbent on trying to attack any of you. But, just in case, if I am actually corrupted and I don't know it, please pull this thing off my neck immediately. Now, how's anyone up for some video games?"

Soon the night continued on as the group continued with more games. Soon it came to them playing Twister, some action video games, and watching some movies and so forth. Eventually everyone went to sleep and drifted off into their dreams through the night. But all that went onto Toxigo's mind was knowing his entire situation now. Sunset knows that he's from Equestria, he's had a run in with the Shadowbolts twice now in the 2 weeks he's tried to avoid them, and now he's got the Dazzlings to deal with who are bent on returning back to Equestria. Netherless, they can be stopped, and they will be stopped.

The next morning, Tox was up making breakfast while some of his favorite tunes were playing from an iPod mounted on a radio. Everyone was still asleep, but they knew eventually the smell of sizzling bacon and steaming pancakes would wake them up. For now his mind was focused on making the food. Just keep your eye on the food. Eye on the food...

"Alright... golden, fluffy, pancakes. Lets see here..."

He grabbed the flour already in the measuring cup and poured it in making a huge splash of flour hitting his face.

"*Cough*" Tox soon began hacking up some of the flour that accidently went into his mouth onto the floor. "Great. There goes that batch."

After sweeping up the mess he made and grabbing the now ruined batter, he dumped the bits into the trash and chucked the bowl into the sink.

"Now lets try and make this work."

Once again, making an attempt not to screw up actually succeeded this time in making the pancake batter. Soon the pitter-patter of feet made his ears twitch up and he listened in, and met the sight of Sunset Shimmer in her PJs coming in to the kitchen.

"Is something burning?" Sunset asked.

"Morning Shimmer-cakes." Tox smiled.

"Oh, Tox. Good morning." Sunset gave a friendly smile back.

"Sleep well?"

"Yeah, I slept great." Sunset replied.

"Pancakes?" Tox offered as he flipped one into the air only for it to go through the small metal spike on his left ear. "It would help if I could see what I'm doing, my depth perception is incredibly off."

"Oh yes, thank you. That's so sweet of you." Sunset cooed.

After getting the pancake off his ear and into the trash can before simply grabbing a pancake, putting it on a plate, and handing it to Sunset.

"So... what's up Shimmer-cakes?" Tox grinned.

Sunset giggled at Tox's nickname for her. "Not a whole lot actually. And now with the lack of activity going on with the Dazzlings, I'm starting to get a little worried."

"I'm sure they're probably either giving up or thinking of some long, complicated and extensive plan for revenge. Which by the way, they're not gonna succeed with because I'm around. And I'm not gonna let them hurt you or any of you guys."

"Aw...thanks." Sunset replied before eating another pancake. "Oh, something I wanted to ask. Do you have any hobbies?" Sunset asked.

"What do you mean?" Tox asked.

"Like special skills, things that you're good at?" Sunset inquired.

"Um... Yeah I guess so. Why?" Tox asked.

"Well all I seem to see you do so far in these last few weeks are that you're good at athletics, but that's about it." Sunset replied.

"Actually, I am good at some stuff. Like, uh... Oh." Tox stopped.

Their attention turned to Rarity who's hair was in a frizzy mess, and she was wearing a pink fuzzy robe.

"Morning Rare." Tox said with a smile.

"Morning Tox." Rarity replied groggily.

"You sleep well?"

"Yes I did in fact. Those mattresses were very comfortable."

"That's good. Pancakes?"

"Sure, thank you."

Rarity then sat on a stool chair sitting at the concrete counter top that was on the left of the stove where Tox was cooking, and Tox continued to talk.

"I'm pretty good with technology, as you can tell by the prosthetic limb and the ears. I made all of those myself." Tox said with pride.

"Whoa, that's pretty cool." Sunset replied.

"And there's actually some other things I've been working on with my tech. You want to see what I built?" Tox asked.

Later, once all of the girls were finally awake and still in their PJs, Tox led them to his garage where his red 1957 Plymouth Fury rested, and saw some tables and other things covered in sheets. Tox pulled the sheet off of a table revealing a what appeared as a robot. Its shape was as a teenage girl, its titanium covering was bronze colored, and one feature that stood out, it possessed hair styled and colored exactly like Rainbow Dash.

"Whoa... what is that?" Sunset asked.

"Friends, meet Echo. One of my failed experiments. I tried building her to be my own friend when I was alone. Alas, I had no luck." Tox replied.

"How come it looks a little like me?" Rainbow asked sounding very curious.

"Long story short, I was looking for a model to base it off of, and you were the first person in my view point, so I just took a photo and modeled it after you. I... hope that's not too disturbing?" Tox hesitated.

"That's kind of creepy... but, a little awesome." Rainbow replied. "Can she work?"

Tox shook his head. "I tried but... she just isn't going to work. I tried everything I could, but it's not working. Now, she just sits here, collecting dust."

The girls all looked at the face of the bronze automaton as its eyelids were closed and expression was neutral, until Pinkie spoke up.

"Why not use the amulet around your neck to activate it?" Pinkie suggested.

A metaphorical light bulb hung over Tox's head, and he gave a wicked smile. "I hadn't considered that before... Let me try."

Tox held his hands onto the amulet around his neck, his eye closed, and the girls watched in awe as they watched blue energy flow from the amulet go right into the open port of the android. But once the stream had finished flowing.... nothing happened. Not a sound was made, not a gear turned, not a whir or a clank was emitting from the robot.

Tox sighed in annoyance and pulled out a sheet to cover up the robot once again. "Well, I guess not every machine or invention is destined to work."

Sunset walked over to Tox and held him in a hug and patting his back. "I'm so sorry..."

"That's okay. I do actually have some experiments that work. You girls want to see what did work?" Tox offered.

The girls said 'yes', and Tox showed them over to another covered sheet and stopped. "Now... before I show any of you this stuff, I need to tell you something. What I made is probably not 100 percent legal. When Midnight Sparkle came to power, I became worried about what any other threats from Equestria would come here, and so I had to develop my own little...defenses. You promise not to tell anyone what you see?" Tox asked.

Everyone nodded, but Tox wasn't the least bit convinced.

"Do you swear?"

A few of them groaned. "Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." everyone finished.

Tox rose a finger wondering what they said, but then stopped. "I take that as yes then?"

"Can you just show us already?" Rainbow complained.

"Alright, alright. Here we go." Tox pulled the sheet off revealing three different weapons. But these weren't ordinary weapons, they were the latest in high technology. Made out of titanium, steel, copper, and computer technology. Each one of them were in their own design. One was styled like a heavy Gatling gun, another one was set like a mini-gun that would be mounted on someone's arm, and another one was set as a standard high tech science fiction rifle, with a little counter on the side showing how many shells were in it.

"These are the LED Light Cannons. High powered weapons that run on energy cells and are specifically designed to counteract against magic. I didn't know when I'd have access to magic, so I built these little babies so if a threat or entity makes it way here from Equestria-"

Tox then smirked to the girls as he cocked the rifle. "I'm ready for them."

"Oooh.... cool." Pinkie remarked.

"How did you ever build these?" Fluttershy asked.

"Well Fluttershy, when you take several years of technology based classes like if you're taking shop, robotics, engineering, and if you got your cutie mark for making a piece of technology back in Equestria, that's how you become good at it." Tox smiled.

"Well that's all dandy and all, but, how exactly do these weapons work?" Applejack asked.

"You want to see?" Tox asked.

Applejack nodded.

"Follow me ladies." Tox asked.

Tox walked them over to another area of his home, into a big dark room. The lights flickered on revealing what looked like a giant lab. Many parts of machines, gears, and other appliances. It was extremely messy, so messy that you couldn't even tell what items he had in there.

The group walked over to a small little area that was boxed in, and they could see on the wall there was a cardboard cutout of Abacus Cinch, who had spray painted devil horns and a mustache.

Twilight was about to question it, until Tox interrupted.

"If you're questioning the devil Cinch I have at the end over there... I was going through a rough time. So, who wants to go first? Sunset? You want to try?"

"Sure."

So Tox pulled out the mini-gun and began teaching her how to use it.

"Okay, so first thing, strap it so its above your wrist." Tox instructed.

Sunset strapped it to her arm, and tightened it.

"Okay, now to get it to fire, you hold that loose bar that's wired to the gun, and press the red button. That will shoot the energy."

Sunset aimed the mini-gun towards the cardboard cut out, closed one eye to focus, and hit the trigger sending a huge amount of force pushing her back and falling towards the ground.

"Ow..."

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I should have warned you, there's a bit of a kick in them." Tox hissed.

Sunset raised a thumbs up to let them know she was okay, much to everyone's relief.

Eventually everyone was learning to use the light cannons and they were starting to get the hang out how they worked.

"I must say darling, this is quite generous of you to let us try and use these things." Rarity remarked.

"Well as far as what you guys told me, you're defenders of this area since evil entities from Equestria like coming over to Canterlot High. Besides, it feels pretty good to help a friend, and I find it quite fun to show you guys things that I've made."

Tox's face drooped as he felt a whir of energy flowing inside of his body. "Oh god no, not again!"

Tox had ponied up again, this time responding to being generous to his friends, only this time he only went so far as to hit the top of the ceiling and he fell down landing on his back.

"Oooh...." The girls reacted.

"That's got to hurt." Rainbow reacted.

Only until a piece of machinery from the side came down and fell on him, making him groan in pain.

"Not as much as that." Applejack replied.

Tox raised a hand in the air with a thumbs up saying he was okay, and pushed the parts off of him, once he stood back up his face shown he was less than amused.

"Okay... this is just becoming extremely random. Even I don't understand this impossible shit!" Tox complained.

Sunset scratched her chin in thought over his pony ups, but sadly couldn't come up with a conclusion. He ponied up every time he was repeating one of their own elements, but she couldn't figure out why.

"I don't know. I'll send a message to Princess Twilight asking about that." Sunset reassured, getting a nod from Tox. After clearing all of the junk that had fallen on him, he looked at them with a friendly smile and asked a question.

"Anyone want to go out for lunch?"
