Chapter 1: That's a lot of Questions

The monkey sage chuckled. “Ah, Pinkie Pie, it’s always great for you to visit me. But it makes me happier you kept my existence a secret.” The squirrel monkey munched on a cupcake before flinging himself up the walls of the tree trunk. The pink pony who sat on the floor gave an ‘ooh’ before the small monkey came back down. “For that, I would like you to have a note of my findings in beyond Equestria and a map,” he smiled. “I have plenty of copies lying around.”

Pinkie Pie peered inside of the small homemade hand-sewn booklet. “Ooh, this is pretty neat, Winston!!” she said. The monkey shook his head. “Please, call me Winston Jr., Winston is my father.”

“Then I’ll call you Junior, Junior,” Pinkie Pie said, “But Winston is a pretty cool name.” The monkey scratched his head and wondered how it took so long to get that through her thick skull. But nonetheless, he handed her hoof a detailed map. “Before settling in Equestria, I journeyed outside into where the Yaks, Camels, and Moose roam. I’ve made many friends, but that was so long ago. As a pony, I do believe you’ll be curious. Perhaps you’ll have a friend that will be intrigued where you got such a map.” Junior brought a finger to his lips. “But you know what to say, right?”

“A banana macadamia nut cupcake, right?”

“Uh, yeah sure.”

“Good. Good.”

“Anyway, Pinkie Pie, again, I would like you to thank you for giving me a visit.” he paused, noticing her make a weird face while going through his small notebook. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Sorry Junior, but I need to go to Saddle Arabia,” Pinkie Pie said.

“Wait, what? Why?”

“And that’s my story why I’m here!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed.

“Oh, nice,” a bored and irritated minotaur replied. He continued to draw the cart and sighed. He muttered underneath his breath on why he should be doing a pony’s work.

“So what’s your story?” Pinkie Pie asked. “Why are you here drawing carts near Saddle Arabia?”

The hot desert let out a ray of heat to the passerbys, letting them know that the sun was praised.

The minotaur sighed again. “Let’s say that I got frisky with a mare here. And her father found out. And let’s say that her father is a very powerful stallion.”

“Oh, nice, building relationships already!” Pinkie Pie said, “I’ve been out in the desert for a few weeks already, so you can say I did the same!”

“W-Why would you want to be here in the desert? The minotaur asked, a bit distraught by Pinkie Pie’s comment. Who in the right mind would stay in this godforsaken place?

“I think I walked for three days straight before finding your little carriage too,” Pinkie Pie said. “But there were no camels in sight.”

“Camels? Why camels?” the minotaur asked.

Pinkie Pie sniffed the air. “Ooh, I think I found one. Thank you, Mr. Minotaur!” With a pink zip, she was gone. Underneath the smoldering hot sun, the minotaur gave another sigh and continued onward. It was going to be a long day.

Pinkie Pie continued on the scorching on sand with Junior’s book in hand. His notes weren’t very detailed, since it was a small book and all. “Camels are in the desert near Saddle Arabia…” she told herself. “Where are they?”

She walked happily across the sand, not minding the relentless heat from above. The sand below her were like molten coals, baked for hours from the sun. Not even beading a sweat, Pinkie Pie hummed and stuffed a cupcake in her mouth out of nowhere. After licking her lips, she started to hum a little tune and continue her journey.

After many twists and turns on her way to Saddle Arabia, she was finally at an optimal location for camels. But she didn’t see any. Perhaps the heat wave was shrouding her vision.

She looked around, only to see the dusky sand and then some. She stared down at the book again. “Hmm,” Pinkie Pie said, narrowing her eyes. She shuffled her hooves on the sand before watching a distant figure. On all fours with a few humps. Ah, yes! Finally! A camel!

Pinkie Pie gasped in excitement and rushed towards it. In a few seconds of time, Pinkie Pie stood next to a tall camel. The camel’s drawn out eyes acknowledged the small pink pony. She smiled with a cheeky grin before her eyes locked the camel’s hooves. The camel blinked and glanced down at his own hooves. He paused. He was wondering why the pink pony was looking at them. Maybe something was stuck? He lifted a hoof up to check to only have the pony move her entire body to keep in line of sight.

The camel then remembered there was a nearby watering hole. He started off his short trip and placed one hoof over the other in the sand. He could hear a nearby ‘boing’ with the pink pony’s hop. She was still staring at his hooves. He kept his eyes straight ahead and heeded no mind. It was probably the pony’s first time seeing a camel. But her ogling eyes made him a bit off. Wait, was she ogling? They seemed to be very curious eyes instead. With a hoof after hoof, the pony’s eyes were interlocked with his hooves. Oh. Now he got it.

The camel sighed. “You know, that expression isn’t meant literally,” he finally said.

“Huh? What do you mean by a camel’s toe?” Pinkie Pie asked, continuing to stare at the camel’s hooves. She made a face. “What’s so great about them anyway?”

The camel paused. “Never mind.”

Pinkie Pie beamed another smile. “Okay!” She hopped to the side of the camel and followed to trail him like a minnow. She opened the small book and nodded. She placed the book away. “Looks like I’ll be off to Yoke-on!”

“Huh? What? Why?” the camel asked.

“I just need to find a moose and see why what’s so great about their knuckles.”
