Prologue

“Hey, Applejack!” Bunny greeted to the earth pony.

“Oh! Hi Bunny” Applejack said.

“Why are you so…down in the dumps today?” Bunny noticed her friend’s sad gaze.

Applejack tried to change her expression. “Me, sad? I’m not sad! I just…”

“AJ, you can’t lie to me, remember, Miss Element of Honesty?” Bunny pointed to her right paw, it was glowing orange which meant Lie.

“Okay, I’ll admit it!”

“Great! So, what’s troubling you, Applejack?”

The earth pony rubbed a hoof. “You see…I…I…I’m inlove with somepony”

“Really? Then, tell me, who’s the lucky colt?”

“It’s…she’s a mare”

“Alright, who’s the lucky mare then?”

“It’s…Rainbow Dash”

Bunny nearly jumped 4 feet. “YOU’RE INLOVE WITH RAINBOW DASH?! Congratulations!”

“Yeah, ya’ll got me”

“I can’t wait to tell Dashie the news!” Bunny morphed into a falcon and was about to fly off Rainbow when Applejack grabbed her by the tail.

“No, I want to be the one to tell her. Bunny, my guess is you never knew how confession of love is because you never felt it. But 1 thing to remember, it’s the inlove who tell”

Bunny just morphed back to her natural form. “Sorry, you’re right. Just tell me if you need support on that day”

Applejack nodded. “But how will she react to those words? Think about it: two mares, one earth pony the other a Pegasus. Those words, ‘I love you, Rainbow’”

“’I love you, Applejack’” Rainbow practiced that line. Her only judge was her pet tortoise Tank. “What do you think?”

Her pet smiled, indicating that she was doing well.

The Pegasus just groaned. “You keep saying that! What if she doesn’t love me back?! What if she rejects me? Or says we can’t even be friends anymore? Or…or…”

Tank covered her mouth, looking concerned.

“Right, sorry. But I have to know? Where do I even start?” she was interrupted when her tortoise gave her a pen and paper. She was so caught up in her ramblings that she didn’t notice Tank flew from the desk and back!

“You mean…a love letter?”

Tank nodded.

The Letter

Applejack woke up the way she always did. She just had her usual schedule of eating breakfast and harvesting apples…until Derpy showed up.

“Whoa! Girl, are ya’ll sure you can handle this type of job?” Applejack asked the Pegasus after pulling her out of the fence, again.

Derpy just nodded and gave Applejack an envelope. “Miss Applejack, mail for you” The earth pony did take the letter, but watched closely as the cross-eyed Pegasus wobbly flew away. When she was gone, Applejack opened the letter. She quickly realized it was a love letter.

My Sweet Apple,
It’s been a while since I’ve been falling for you. No, a long while that is. Everything that Trenderhoof loved about you, I love more. Your warm coat reminds me of how autumn looks after the leaves have fallen. Your mane reminds me of the yellow at every rainbow. I get lost every time I look into your emerald eyes. Your little freckles are so cute. I like how hardworking and honest you are. You don’t know who I am yet, but please if you want to, come meet me at the alley near Sugarcube Corner at 9:00 sharp.

Applejack blushed after reading the letter, she also felt really excited. But she also was hoping it was Rainbow Dash; it was her after all that the earth pony always loved.

“Well, Ah know just the creature to help me. Bunny’s enhanced sense of smell can just tell me who wrote it right after a sniff” Applejack said after finishing her work and running to where the alien stays, Fluttershy’s cottage.

Applejack was tired from running all the way from her orchard to Fluttershy’s cottage. Nonetheless, she needed answers. She knocked on the door, hoping to see an orange alien in the form of a rabbit. Instead, she was greeted by a yellow Pegasus with an upset look on her face.

“Oh! Hi, Applejack”, Fluttershy greeted, but still sounded upset.

“Fluttershy? What’s going on with you? Where’s Bunny?”

“Fluttershy, I got here as fast as I could!” They were interrupted by the sound of Twilight’s voice. The lavender mare had a bag filled with
Baby’s Breath and Forget-me-nots.

“Good, thank you Twilight”

“Wait, what’s going on?” Applejack was now confused.

Twilight nodded to Fluttershy as she walked in the cottage. “I think it would be best if you saw it for yourself”

“AAACHOOOOOOOOOOO! My nose!” Bunny sneezed and whined as she kept trying to seemingly bury her nose in a Baby’s Breath Flower. The three mares just watched form the sidelines as Fluttershy pounded some of the flowers Twilight brought so she can make an ointment. Applejack just stood in shock.

“What got into her?” the earth pony asked.

“Bunny has to go through a state which every Servant must do once in their entire lifetime. For one day, she will be having a Tracking Irritation in order for it to settle at full capacity later after. So, for today, she is in no condition to be using her nose or Tracking Abilities. It is really painful when she goes through these types of Transitions” Fluttershy explained as she brought the ointment.

“I decided to help the moment Bunny showed the first signs of sniffling. She said that flowers like Baby’s Breath and Forget-me-nots could soften the irritation a bit. At least enough to make it less painful” Twilight added.

Applejack was dismayed. “Oh, pony feathers! I came here because I got a love letter and I wanted Bunny to use her nose in order for me to now who sent it. Oh well”

Bunny ears perked up at those words. She didn’t want to feel more pain, but she decided to take it on for her friend. The least she could do is try to know if it was female or male. “Hand me the letter” she said as she walked over to Applejack. She didn’t even wait until Applejack gave her the letter; she leaped up and snatched it. When she landed and smelled it momentarily, she gave her clue. “It was a mare”

Applejack shook her head. “What?”

“It was a mare, that’s all I can tell. If I try to go deeper, it won’t be pretty”

“Okay, thanks” Applejack began to exit. “Get well soon”

“ACHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Bunny sneezed.

Applejack only had one clue: the writer was a mare. Even though she had her suspicions and that the irritation may have messed up Bunny’s nose, she had to know who it was. If it’s Rainbow Dash, then great; if not, run away. Her question was about to be answered; she found a shadow at her destination.

“Uh…hello? Are ya‘ll the one who sent the letter?” she questioned.

The figure looked her way, it looked rather afraid. It just nodded.

“Okay, Ah want answers; who are you?” the earth pony demanded.

No answer; the figure just stood there.

“I’ll ask again: who are you?”

The figure seemed to rub its hoof nervously, until it finally spoke. “I hope you just won’t think of me differently, Applejack”

Applejack’s ears perked up; she knew that voice anywhere. “Rainbow Dash, is that you?!”

Rainbow stepped out of the shadows; she had a look of fear in her eyes. “Yes, it’s me”

Applejack just stood there, frozen for a minute. “You…you love me?”

Rainbow nodded. “I’m sorry…I just…I thought you may feel the same about…”

Her ramblings were cut short; Applejack was kissing her! The Pegasus didn’t bother to move as the earth pony just went on. She had to pull away for air, however.

“Applejack, does this mean that you…” Rainbow breathed.

The earth pony nodded with a smile. “I love you too, Rainbow”

Rainbow Dash smiled, and then she and Applejack hugged each other.

What they didn’t know however, was that there was a jealous mare watching them from a window. With much anger built up inside her, she closed the window before she could be noticed.

Agent Animals, Deploy!

Pinkie Pie cried away a tear as soon as she closed her window. Just a while back, she was looking out the window because she was ready to confess her feelings for Rainbow Dash. All her spirit was broken the moment she saw Rainbow and Applejack kissing. Applejack, out of all the mares, why did it have to be her own cousin? Her cousin is dating her long time crush? All these thoughts kept going on and on in Pinkie’s head. From a distance, her pet alligator Gummi watched with a blank stare.

“Oh Gummi, can you believe it? Rainbow is a couple with Applejack even though I loved her since the day we met and it’s not fair!” Pinkie sobbed.

She cried for a good 5 minutes, until she came up with a plan. “Why not? Maybe if I tell Dashie how I feel, she will reveal she’s only pretending to love Applejack! Well, I’ll be going! See you soon, Gummi!” And with that, she closed the door behind her.

Gummi’s expression then changed from blank to worried. He ran up to the closed window; his owner had just about left the building humming as she went. The coast clear, he reached up to his neck. But he had something on his neck, a collar that came out of invisibility. He pressed a button on it, and immediately a mouthpiece came out of it. He activated another button which had a picture of an alligator with sound waves.

Then he spoke, rather in an English accent. “Hello? This is Chompers to Companions, over! Come in, Companions!”

Over to Sweet Apple Acres, a collie named Winona had just finished wrangling up the cattle. She then began to hear a beep; she looked and saw it was coming from her collar. She made up an excuse that she needed to go. She ran and went to one of the trees, only to press the button on her collar and Translator on it.

She then spoke in a Western accent. “This is Cattle Wrangler to Companions, over!”

At Carousel Boutique, Opal was accompanying Rarity as she made her dresses. She was enjoying a ball of yarn when she felt her collar vibrate. She made an excuse that she wanted to go sleep as Rarity allowed her to go. She ran up to the bedroom, and closed the door. She pressed the button on her collar and its Translator setting as well.

She then spoke in a high class accent like Rarity. “Pretty Paws to Companions, over!”

Up in Rainbow Dash’s cloud home, Tank was enjoying a book left by his owner. Atleast until he felt something vibrate against his neck. He put the book down and headed to the inside of the closet, closing the door behind him. He did the same as the other 3 did.

He spoke in a teenage tone. “Chopper to Companions, over!”

At the castle where Twilight stayed, Owlicious was enjoying a good daytime snooze. Atleast until he felt a vibration in his neck. He saw Spike was too busy with a comic book so he flew out the window and hid in the deepest area of the leaves. He did the same as the others did.

He spoke in a Librarian’s tone. “Two Heads to Companions, over!”

At Fluttershy’s cottage, Bunny’s sneezing had lessened. She and Angel were now just chatting when they both felt a neck vibration. Both nodded and told Fluttershy and Twilight they could use a walk. Both were excused and ran to a pillar upstairs. They did the same as the others did.

Angel spoke in a normal tone. “Brainy Lagomorph to Companions, over!”

Bunny spoke normally. “Spirited Leader to Companions, over!”

“Good to hear from all of you” Gummi said. “Listen, we need a meeting. And I mean NOW!”

“What’s the problem, Chompers?” Bunny asked.

“Code 5310: Jealous Mare on the Block!”

“WHAT?!” they all said at the same time.

“Yes, and I’ll tell you when we get to Headquarters”

“Well, considering my nose doesn’t hurt so much now, let’s go!” Bunny decreed.

“Meet you all there” Gummi said before closing down his collar, with Translator still on. He went into the closet, which had what looked like a poster. He put his flipper on it as it scanned him and his eye. Immediately, a small vortex opened right under him as he slid down after it closed up. Same thing went along for the others.

When they all reached the bottom, their collars began to give them each what looked like uniforms. They each wore a white costume which showed their structure from end to end like in the movie Tron. What made them different was that they had their codenames on the sides of their outfits. They also each had a mark resembling that of their owners’ cutie marks at the front of their necks, although Bunny had a cross on hers. They ran from the areas where they fell to and met up in one specific area. From where they met up there was a huge table with chairs which they all sat on. All at the table, they began their discussions, calling each other by their codenames.

“Companions, we have gathered here today because of an emergency Chompers would like to tell us” Spirited Leader said. “Go ahead, fellow Companion”

Chompers nodded. “Hello everyone. Have you heard about the new couple in town Applejack and Rainbow Dash?”

Everyone nodded, some were even smiling.

“Well, WE HAVE A JEALOUS MARE!” he shouted as everyone gasped and some panicked. They each had their own way; Chompers kept shouting, Cattle Wrangler kept howling, Chopper kept bumping his head as though it was a dream, Pretty Paws ran screeching and scratching everywhere, Two Heads kept flying, and Brainy Lagomorph and Spirited Leader just sat there calm.

Brainy Lagomorph sighed. “Are you gonna freeze them?”

Spirited Leader nodded. “Yep, this is going insane”

“Everyone, FREEZE!” she shouted. They all couldn’t move; they were all frozen for a good one minute. Then Pretty Paws broke the silence, “Oh, I’m sorry darlings! Did we get carried away?” Spirited’s expression softened a bit and she released them from her spell.

“Go ahead, Chompers, continue”

“She said she’s planning on confessing her feelings to Rainbow anyway; she thinks that Dash is just pretending to love Applejack. I just saw her leave to find her a second before I called”

Everyone looked at each other and nodded. Pretty Paws asked, “Is Applejack the one meant for Rainbow? Do you think the Demon might…?”

“No demon is coming. I heard about it myself; Rainbow and Applejack are meant to be. If Pinkie gets in the way, I don’t want to risk another Exorcism!” Spirited shivered at the thought.

“Then what do you suggest we do?” Cattle Wrangler raised a paw.

“Well, I suggest we do our best to protect the couple” all nodded. “Chompers, you keep an eye out on Pinkie and report if you find anything bad”

“Roger that!”

“Cattle Wrangler and Chopper, protect your owners and be on the lookout for any signs of jeopardy”

“Aye aye, Captain!”

“Ma’am, yes, ma’am!”

“Brainy Lagomorph, I need you to assist us all today considering my condition”

“I won’t fail you”

“Pretty Paws and Two Heads, sharpen your claws, fangs, and talons because we’re gonna need them in case if things get drastic”

“Very well, darling”

“On it already”

“Good, but for now, considering Pinkie is now on a plan, we have to stop her. Huddle up, here’s the plan”

After 5 minutes of explaining the plans, they all went up to one place. There was a room with what looked like escape pods from Bunny’s home world. All got inside one each as their outfits became normal collars again. Spirited Leader said one last thing before pressing the button that would launch them out of Headquarters and to a field.

“Agent Animal Companions, deploy!”

Mission Accomplished!

“Oh Gummi, it’s so nice of you to come with me for moral support!” Pinkie said gleefully while her pet alligator was on her back. When Companions got to the fields, Bunny made sure that Gummi got to Pinkie. Yeah, moral support…to stop you from stealing your cousin’s mare, was the thought Gummi had in his mind.

In just a few minutes, they reached the road where Rainbow Dash was passing by to meet Applejack. Pinkie stood there, waiting for her target. Gummi looked around until he saw Winona and the others a few feet away from her. He spotted Bunny in the trees. They took up their positions, and then Rainbow Dash was seen trotting. Gummi licked his nose, which was the signal to start, as the others nodded and began the plan.

“Winona, why are ya’ll barking?” Applejack asked her collie. Winona pretended to growl and Applejack saw why: Angel had one of her apples in his paws. He pretended to mock her, posing to look like he was saying to catch him or she’s a big, dumb, chicken!

The country pony wasn’t going to take that insult. “Winona, get him!”

The collie then pretended to chase after Angel. The rabbit ran as fast as he could, then Opal ran to his side. The cat meowed, which meant for him to get on. She ran faster despite the load on her back.

“Opal? You have become so close to Angel since that tea party” Applejack sighed.

Opal meowed louder; even though it was just acting, she, like other cats of course, hated being chased by a dog. Owlicious flew to their side and flew high to help them get away.

Opal hissed that when translated, it meant “This better be worth it, you know how much I hate being chased by dogs”

Owlicious got the idea, he hooted. Tank then pretended to fly up to where they were. The owl stopped when he was in close range. They were now at the front of the trees Bunny was hiding in. Bunny saw them cueing her to act. She nodded because Pinkie sounded like she was about to confess. Bunny’s diamond stripe glowed its activated Nature green color. She closed her two paws together and then apart to make the leaves spread out as though it was a curtain. And a good thing too, Pinkie was about to confess when Applejack spoke up.

“Rainbow Dash!” The earth pony said as she tackled her marefriend to the ground.

Rainbow enjoyed the gesture. “Applejack, so good to see you again!”

“Aww shucks, you make me blush” she then turned her attention to Pinkie. “Oh, hi Pinkie! How’s my cousin doing?”

Pinkie stood there, frozen at first because of their position. She eventually faked a smile. “Oh, just chatting with Rainbow Dash along the way here”

The earth pony looked at her lover. “Did you tell her about…us?”

Rainbow grinned nervously. “Well…I…kinda nearly did”

“Yeah! You’d make a great couple! Well, I gotta go! Gummi needs a bath!” Pinkie twitched.

“And I’ll be taking that, thank you very much” Rainbow snatched the apple out of Angel’s paws; he then just pretended to glare. He, Opal, Tank, Winona, Owlicious, and Gummi then turned their attention to where Bunny was hiding. She smiled from afar, and then tapped out a message in Latin Morse Code. They all knew what it meant: “Mission Accomplished!”

Epilogue

“Guys, I have never been so hydrated before in my entire life!” Chompers said after having a nice fish and salad. Companions were having a celebration on their mission’s accomplishment.

“Cattle Wrangler, would you mind passing the juice for me? It’s simply divine!” Pretty Paws asked.

“Here you go” Cattle Wrangler did so and ate her favorite dog treats.

“So nice that you got all our favorites, Spirited Leader!” Brainy Lagomorph added.

“You’re welcome, Brainy Lagomorph. Although I admit, I think Chopper is having too much seaweed” she pointed to the tortoise that was already full from so much seaweed. Beside him was Two Heads munching away his favorite sunflower seeds.

“Remember everyone; our victory is only for today. But I got a Vision in which Pinkie will not stop until a wedding. So we have to be on guard at all times. So now, eat, relax, and tomorrow we have to go back to our duties. Chompers?”

“I’ll report if I find any plans Pinkie wants to try on the couple”

“Good, Cattle Wrangler and Chopper?”

Both nodded. “We’ll make sure we keep an eye out to protect our owners”

“Perfect, Pretty Paws, Two Heads, and Brainy Lagomorph?”

“We’ll make sure we’re ready for danger”

“Great, to protecting couples, Companions?” she held up a glass of apple juice

All looked to each other and nodded, holding up a glass of juice each. “To protecting couples!”
