Starlight Glimmer is undeserving of hate

Chapter 1: Poor Starlight

Author's Notes:

This is just some silly (and also kinda sad) idea I came up with after seeing Starlight Glimmer hate on Derpibooru, don't take it too seriously.

Starlight Glimmer was walking out of the castle, ready to start her day, when Twilight Sparkle interrupted her

"Starlight!" she shouted "I've discovered this thing called "The Internet" I think you should check it out, I found out that we're in a tv show with a massive fanbase, who knew?"

Starlight looked back at Twilight "Actually, I was going to visit Trixie, we had a meetup planned."

"She'll understand it why it was delayed if you explain to her, I was gonna ask the others to see the fan reaction to themselves, but I saw that you were here and I want you to see what yours is like!" Twilight fluttered her wings happily, she seemed excited about this

"Well, I'm sure Trixie will understand, I mean, I am the student to a princess, I'm sure she understands how much time that can take up!"

They got to the castle's main room, the table void of anything except for a gray... Thing, Starlight didn't know what it was, but it must of had some relation to this "Internet" Twilight's been talking about all morning

They walked near it and stopped, walking, Starlight looked confused "Sit down." Twilight said, knowing how her student felt

"What's this thing?" Starlight asked Twilight, she'd never shy away from asking Twilight questions, mostly because she remembered what her mentor said not long after she started teaching Starlight "You should ask questions when need be, and you should never be afraid of being unsure!"

Twilight pointed at the gray thing "That's a computer, which is how you'll go on the internet, specifically, it's a laptop, a portable kind of computer!"

A laptop, okay, she was learning more already, she typed on the keyboard and searched for her own name on this search engine called "Hoofle" Twilight helped her figure that out too

Her eyes scanned the screen, the light reflecting off her blue eyes, she searched through some image sites, she very much enjoyed the fan art, but she came upon something other then really cool art of herself and her friends, and she couldn't believe what she was seeing

She spotted hate, lots of it

Her eyes started to water, Twilight looked at her expression, trying to figure her out "What's wrong, Starlight?"

Starlight looked at her teacher"T-Twilight, why does everypony on there hate me?" her tears grew worse, and she looked down

"What!?" Twilight looked at the laptop screen and saw the hate for her student, unable to believe what her eyes were were viewing, people hating her for silly reasons and whatnot

"I don't get it," Twilight said "how could anypony hate you, your one of the sweetest ponies, sure, you've made mistakes, even lately, but your still learning, I don't understand..."

"It's okay Twilight," she closes the laptop and shifts it around on the table so it was closer to Twilight "you can check your fan reaction, I'm going to my room." she walked towards her room with her head down, the door slamming behind her

Twilight walked into her room, walking into her student, one of her best friends, crying, she's seen Starlight crying before, like when she thought Trixie didn't actually care, but she'd never seen her completely broken like this before; then, it was anger and disgust mixed with sadness, here, it was just pure sadness

Starlight's face was completely drenched in tears, her mane was already showing signs of becoming messy, even though it's been only a few minutes

"Starlight Glimmer?" Twilight's voice echoed in the mostly quiet castle

Starlight looked up at the princess, she was certain she was liked more then herself, she saw glimpses of it on the internet already "Yes?"

"Who cares what those people think?" Twilight said in a strict yet soft tone

"I do," Starlight said, chocking on her words through the tears "I just wanna be accepted." she still needed reassurances about being accepted by others, even after all the great things that happened to her like Trixie befriending her, or the Hearth's Warming party, she had lots of fun, and made even more friends then

"But you are accepted, Starlight, you have me, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Spike, even Trixie, all of Ponyville's been slowly accepting of you too! I think the people on the internet are just jerks!"

"You think so?"

"Of course! You don't deserve all the hate you get, like I said, your one of the sweetest ponies I know! You may have had a bad past, but your a wonderful pony!" Twilight holds one of Starlight hooves

"Really?"

"Starlight, back when I became your teacher, I'll admit, I was uncertain of myself, I may know a lot, but I wasn't sure how good I could be at passing all I know about friendship onto an actual student, but I seem to be good at it because you've learned a lot in the past few months alone!"

Twilight looked down at Starlight, laying down on the castle floor "I also believe no one should hate you," Twilight continued "and I believe that mean spirited comments like what those people said shouldn't be taken to heart."

Starlight sniffled and wiped a tear from her eye "Thanks, Twilight, you always know how to cheer me up." she she smiled, she felt a great admiration for Twilight, and she realized then why

"Glad I could help, that's what best friends are for, right?" Twilight hugged Starlight, and Starlight's eyes welled up with tears once more, but this time they were happy ones

"Well, I'll leave you alone to let out your bottled up feelings." Twilight walked out of the room, but before shutting the door, she looked back at Starlight "Just remember that me and the others love you very much, some strangers you've never met know nothing about you."

Starlight saw her friend leave the room and still smiled, and shed more happy tears

Starlight got up and ran out of the room, she hugged onto Twilight "Thank you, Twilight." she whispered

"You are very welcome, so I guess you better be getting to your meeting with Trixie, I mean, if your feeling better, that is."

Starlight nodded and cantered out of the castle, looking back at Twilight before she got out the door, she slowed to a trot

"Yes, thank you, Twilight, and I don't know how I'd be getting through my depression without you." she said to herself as she looked at the bright blue sky and trotted over to visit her friend
