Death To Flurry Heart (Part One)
The sound of soft coos echoed around the room. The sound came from the foal that Princess Cadance held in her hooves, Princess Flurry Heart. Cadance yawned as she put the foal down in the crib.
“For once, she's actually sleeping peacefully.”
Cadance turned around to see that the voice had come from her disheveled husband, standing in the nursery doorway. He was right — although she slept a lot in the day, she often woke up in the middle of the night, crying and screaming until either Cadance or Shining Armor could come to calm her down.
“Even though I haven't gotten any sleep recently, I wouldn't give her up for anything,” said Cadance.
Shining Armor smiled. “Yeah…”
Much to Cadance's displeasure, Shining Armor was dozing off and his eyes were starting to close. “Tired, are we?” asked Cadance, walking towards her husband.
Shining Armor jolted. “What!?”
Cadance let out a chuckle and then frowned.
“What is it, Cady?” asked Shining Armor.
Cadance sighed. “It just seems like you're coping with this whole ‘parenthood’ thing a lot better than me.”
“What?! Cadance, you're a great mother, an incredible wife, and a wonderful ruler. You're doing fine!”
Cadance exhaled. “I guess this feeling comes to every parent. I just hope I'm doing a good job.”
Shining Armor stroked his wife’s cheek with one hoof. “You are doing a great job! Flurry will be a great pony in the future.”
They each kissed the forehead of their foal. Princess Cadance turned on the baby monitor and turned off the light of the nursery. The rulers of the Crystal Empire then headed downstairs to the dining hall.
“Honestly, Shining, did you really name your baby after when she nearly destroyed the Crystal Empire?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
Shining Armor glared at the princess. “Hey! Cadance agreed!”
Luna raised an eyebrow at her niece who in return let out a defeated sigh.
“A mare can only take so much, Auntie Luna. It was either Flurry Heart or Skyla and you don't want to know how Shiny thought up the name Skyla.”
Celestia let out a chuckle and so did every pony else at the dinner table. After a newborn foal had nearly destroyed the Crystal Empire, a relaxing dinner was needed. In the dining room were all the Elements of Harmony, Four Princesses, Starlight Glimmer and Sunburst, and Prince Shining Armor.
Princess Twilight finished her strawberry cake and put down her fork, turning to her new apprentice to talk about their next friendship lesson, but Starlight Glimmer was deep in a hushed conversation with her old friend, Sunburst. The two unicorns noticed the alicorn staring at them and quickly ended their discussion.
“So, Starlight, how did you two become friends again?” asked Twilight.
Starlight Glimmer idly levitated her knife, spinning it in the air while she spoke. “Oh! Well...at first it was pretty awkward and we only had a short encounter. We then bonded when the Empire was being invaded by the icy snow. We admitted our pasts to one another.”
Twilight nodded towards Starlight’s untouched dessert. “Not hungry?”
Starlight bolted her head towards her teacher. “Oh! Didn't notice that.” Starlight then quickly used her magic to cut into her slice cake and used a fork to lift it to her lips. “Yum!”
Twilight thought her student was acting strangely. It wasn’t like her to forget about dessert. Was she feeling unwell? Before she could ask, she was distracted by Princess Celestia calling out her name.
Starlight turned back to Sunburst, lowering her voice to a whisper.
Princess Cadance’s eyes fluttered open as familiar loud coos and giggles slowly made her conscious. She was barely awake and looked to her right to see her sleeping husband, snoring peacefully. On her nightstand was the baby monitor which had woken her from her long-overdue slumber. She could clearly hear the coos and giggles of Flurry Heart — awake, but happy.
Shining Armor stirred in his sleep and slowly awoke and mumbled, “your turn.” He turned to his side and then drifted off to sleep. The Love Princess groaned, but Shining was right — it was her turn.
She half-rolled, half-crawled out of bed, rubbing her eyes. Yawning and walking to the door, she reflected on how unusual it was to be woken by such happy noises. Being woken in the middle of the night wasn’t exactly welcome, but Flurry’s sweet little giggles were a lot better than the usual wails and screams that pierced Cadance’s eardrums at one o’clock in the morning.
The pink alicorn ambled along the crystalline corridor, heading from her bedchamber towards the nursery. She felt so tired that she wasn’t sure if she was sleep-walking. When Cadance reached the nursery, she lazily pushed the door open with her hooves — she could have used magic, but… effort.
A gasp. Cadance’s eyes flew open as quick as a lightning bolt. A tall figure. A black cloak. A knife!
The Princess of Love let out an ear piercing shriek. The cloaked assassin pocketed the sharp-looking blade in some beat-up old saddlebags, and quickly grabbed Flurry Heart. Flurry cried and screamed out.
Cadance stood her ground in the doorway. Moments ago, she was half asleep, but now she was wide awake and adrenaline was coursing through her veins. There was no way this pony was getting past her.
The assassin's eyes flicked to the open window. Cadance looked towards it too. “Guards!” she screamed.
The cloaked pony charged directly at her. Cadance knew she couldn’t back away, but she closed her eyes and flinched, bracing herself for an impact that never happened. Opening her eyes again, she looked behind her. Teleportation! With the cloak, she hadn’t noticed a horn.
“Stop!” shrieked Cadance, running after the assassin who still held her daughter.
Luna emerged from her guest room, already awake, and seeing what was happening, banged on her older sister’s door.
The cloaked figure released a blue wave of magical energy which flung the Crystal Guards back against the cold wall, knocking them unconscious.
Cadance bolted after the assassin, tears running down her face.
The Princess of the Night flew after them and then teleported right in front of the assassin, firing a powerful spell at the cloaked intruder. The assassin threw up a magical shield to block it just in time, and the two beams of magic clashed into each other, the ponies locked in stalemate. Fallout from their battle tore up the floor.
In seconds, Cadance arrived at the scene and her horn began to glow. “Stop!” she yelled at Luna, helping the assassin push back Luna’s beam. “Don’t harm her — she has Flurry!”
Luna at once let her magic drop, and the assassin’s beam knocked the Princess of the Night off her hooves.
“Give me back my baby!” Cadance shouted, charging once more at the assassin. She threw her shoulder at the cloaked pony just as the pony teleported behind her again.
The assassin ran the other direction down the corridor but was suddenly wrapped in a pink aura and pulled off her hooves into the air. A blue magical glow came from under her hood, but nothing happened. She kicked her hooves helplessly. “What’s…? What’s happening?” came a feminine voice from beneath the robe.
“I’m lifting you up,” Twilight Sparkle announced.
“And I’m blocking your attempts to teleport away,” Celestia explained.
The four princesses surrounded the cloaked pony, and Twilight carefully lowered her to the floor. The pony sighed defeatedly, and the Princess of Friendship at last released her. The assassin knew she had no way of escaping now.
Several Crystal Guards surrounded the assassin, pointing their spears at her. “Your majesties, are you alright?”
“We will be,” Cadance answered. She addressed the cloaked pony. “Return my daughter unharmed, and I give you my word that we will be merciful.”
The pink alicorn gently took her baby out of the assassin’s hooves and held her foal trying to calm her down.
By now, other ponies were starting to arrive at the scene. “W–What happened?” asked Starlight Glimmer. Rarity and Fluttershy shrugged. Sunburst simply stared at the scene.
“Somepony tried to kill Princess Flurry Heart,” Cadance explained.
The new arrivals gasped at the unexpected news. “Let me at’tem!” Applejack demanded, marching towards the captive pony, until Rarity held her back.
“Not just somepony,” Luna corrected. “I fought her… this could only be a very powerful unicorn… or… no… it couldn’t be Chrysalis, could it?”
“There's only one way to find out,” said Twilight. Using her magic, she lifted off the cloak covering the assassin’s identity.
The dark pink mare stood up — she was tall, about as tall as Luna, and had an elegant horn. Her mane and tail were cut short and starting to grey, but showed hints of purple, pink, and yellow. Her eyes were a darker shade of purple and showed a mixture of fear and defiance. She looked battered, and not just by her fight tonight — part of her right ear was missing, and her body showed multiple scars and burn marks that had had time to heal. She...she is an alicorn!? Her left wing, too, was missing, replaced by a mechanical substitute.
The ponies assembled, and stood in disbelief. Shining Armor was the first to speak. His eyes moved from the assassin to his wife and back again. “It’s… it can’t be… it looks just like…”
Twilight walked up, and stood beside him. “Yes… it’s Cadance.”

Death To Flurry Heart (Part Two)-end of arc-
Author's Notes:
So I accidentally deleted the third chapter (great fucking job me) and me not wanting to republish it same with my co-author we decided to make the second and third one chapter. I mean there was already some people saying the second and third chapter should of been one chapter anyways.
Thirty years into the future
Zebrica
The Resistance Base
Cadance felt like her heart was going to explode. It was beating faster and faster every second as she heard the clock’s ticks. Her eyes were glued to the clock on the wall. She paced back and forth in her private study. How can I do this? repeated in her mind. She stopped pacing when she caught sight of her own reflection in a mirror.
Damn you, Nova. And damn you, Shadow Blaze. The war had significantly changed her look, mostly because of her granddaughter and the Captain of the Crystal Guard. Nova, adopted by her daughter and raised as her protégé. Nova had ripped out part of Cadance’s ear with her own teeth and burned Cadance with her magic. Ares, the Captain of the Crystal Guard had caused multiple scars all over Cadance’s body with his swords — he even ripped out part of her mane and tail.
Her eyes wandered to her wings, one of them unpreened and battered, as it was broken multiple times. The other was a mechanical as her old wing had been ripped out completely by Equestria's dictator in the battle for the Crystal Empire. The doctors had told her that if her broken wing didn’t start healing soon, she’d need a second mechanical one.
Damn you, Flur— Cadance cringed. No… I’m sorry, Flurry Heart. I love you and I always will.
Whenever she looked at herself in that mirror, she was no longer Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, General of The Resistance, she was just Cadance, the mother of Equestria's Greatest Monster.
She felt the waterworks coming and quickly wiped her eyes. No. No more crying. I cried enough when my daughter, Skyla, was killed by her own older sister when she made the Crystal Empire her army. My subjects are now having to live under my eldest daughter's tyranny. My Empire has been taken away from me. My aunts were killed by their own adoptive great niece. Thank the stars for Shining and I’s train being held up — it saved us from going to that meeting. Pinkie Pie, Spike, Rarity, and all the citizens of Ponyville who died in the town's destruction. Thank Goddess, Twilight, Rainbow, Applejack, Fluttershy, Starlight, and Sunburst were safe in the Everfree forest with Zecora at the time. My adoptive parents — they’re gone too. The new Element of Laughter, Cheese Sandwich, the new Element of Generosity, Coco Pommel, Discord, Zecora, and Shining… dear Shining… they all died in the battle for the Crystal Empire. My sister-in-law, who used up almost all of her magic to protect us in that failed invasion… comatosed. My fallen soldiers. l've lost so much and I can't bear it. And it's all because of… her.
Cadance sighed. Where did I go wrong? What did I do to make her do just atrocious things?! One day she was my daughter, Princess Flurry Heart, future ruler to the Crystal Empire. The next day she's Queen Flurry Heart, the tyrannical dictator of the Equestria.
She was several feet under the barren semi-desert of Zebrica. Although the zebras couldn't do much to help, they sheltered The Resistance. They couldn't go to war — they would be defeated in a matter of a few hours.
Equestria had made all nations feared them as they mixed technology and magic together, making weapons of mass destruction. Their weapons had no match such as them making anti-magic generators — even Discord couldn't defeat them mix that with a dictator who had taken the magic from her alicorn victims. He had been defeated quickly, sacrificing his life to save Fluttershy. The Resistance was at war with Equestria, but ever since that failed invasion of the Crystal Empire which had claimed Shining Armor’s life, The Resistance had been losing the war badly.
A guard came into the former ruler of the Crystal Empire’s room with a mixture of shock, worry, and fear on his face. He was Lieutenant Moonstone Mustang, one of the only crystal ponies who had managed to escape The Crystal Empire when the tyrant of Equestria mind-controlled the crystal ponies to be her army. He was an old friend of Shining Armor, and Cadance's most loyal companion. "Your Highness, I’ve been informed that you are planning on going back in time again."
Hair covered the ashamed General’s face — she couldn't look him in the eye. Tears welled up in her eyes. "I–I… I will go back in time for the seventh time. But I will do something different. All my plans to reform her before she destroyed everything have… failed. This war has gone on for twenty-two years and I must stop it. Before we all are killed."
"Do you not love your daughter anymore?" asked Moonstone Mustang.
The Princess sniffled. "Of course I do. I might not ever forgive her, but that doesn't mean I can't still love my daughter!"
Moonstone nodded tears also welling up in his eyes. "W–What happened to her? Why?! What are we going to do!?"
"Not a day goes by that I blame my parenting for all of this, Moonstone. She became power hungry and corrupted by dark magic like… like Aunt Luna," responded Cadance. The alicorn looked at the clock. It was eight o'clock in the morning — the time she was dreading. "Guess it's time for me to go."
"May I escort you?" asked the lieutenant.
Cadance nodded and Moonstone Mustang trotted by her side to the meeting room. The pink pony took in a deep breath and pushed open the door with her magic.
Inside the room was a long table seating the remaining highest ranking officials in The Resistance. There was Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Starlight Glimmer, and her husband, Sunburst.
"Hello, Princess," choked out Sunburst.
Cadance let out a heavy sigh and took a seat. "Hello…" The alicorn's eyes scanned the room. All of them held in tears. Although Flurry Heart had taken so much from them, she was so close to their hearts. The elements were like aunts to Flurry Heart. Yet she’d killed two elements and put another in a coma, and the Element of Magic’s assistant.
Sunburst was Flurry Heart's mentor and her Royal Crystaller. They had a relationship like Celestia and Twilight's relationship. Sunburst was almost like a second father to Flurry; he’d been there ever since she was only a few days old. She’d even been his Best Mare when he had wed his childhood friend. And she was close friends with their daughter, Starburst. Yet not long after she turned into a tyrant, she’d killed Starburst and betrayed them. Hell, she’d betrayed all of Equestria, but killing Starburst was something none of them had ever been able to forget.
"Princess Cadance… are you sure?" asked Starlight. There in her hooves was the spell she’d used to try to ruin the friendship of Twilight and her friends. She’d kept it for all these years. Flurry Heart had destroyed Twilight's castle in the destruction of Ponyville that had killed Spike, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie, but she kept the cutie map and wanted the Starlight’s time-travelling spell so that she could go back in time to kill her mother.
Cadance had first came up with the plan to go back in time. The first time she’d proposed it, it had been eagerly accepted by the weakening Resistance. Cadance, after the failed invasion, went to the Crystal Empire to get the map. And there it was, the map in the corner, she could use to save Equestria. Three of the alicorn princesses were dead. One of them was the one who killed the three. And one was in a coma. Cadance was now the only ruler that ponies could turn to.
Since then, Cadance had gone back in time six times to try to persuade her daughter not to turn into the tyrant she was now infamous as. Each time was a failure, and each time her support from the other members of the Resistance had dwindled.
But now she had a new plan. Her plan was to kill her daughter as an infant, before she could grow up to be a monster. At first it experienced backlash, but eventually it was accepted as the only remaining option.
Cadance took a seat. "Yes, I'm sure it's our last possible thing."
Starlight blinked back tears. "Very well..."
She used her telekinesis to pass the paper containing her spell to the pink alicorn. Cadance read through it for the umpteenth time.
The six rushed over to the former ruler of the Crystal Empire and embraced her.
"Please be safe," said Fluttershy.
"I'll try," replied Cadance.
"Princess?" asked Applejack.
"Yes?"
"Please jus… make Flurr's death quick an' painless."
Princess Cadance's heart wrenched as she heard the nickname she gave her daughter. "Flurr" and Empress Flurry Heart were two completely different ponies. Flurr was dead and all that remained was Empress Flurry Heart.
Rainbow Dash took the cloak and long sharp knife off the table and handed them over to the alicorn. "You'll need them both, Your Highness."
Cadance put on the cloak and put the knife in a beat up saddlebag that had seen better days. The pink alicorn brought up the old scroll with her magic. It crackled with energy for a moment before sending a beam into the center of the table. The map manifested itself, spreading out toward the edges.
A wind began to blow through the room. A small ball of blinding white light grew into a glowing, translucent dome set with arcane symbols that ticked and shifted like the gears of a clock.
Cadance looked behind her to see the six ponies she held so dear. "Thank you for everything you have done, my friends…" A large boom rattled the ears of all seven ponies, knocking them onto the floor. Smoke poured through the door, out of the hallway. The Princess of Love heard the battle cries of her soldiers. Her daughter's forces had found her. The resistance base had been compromised.
"GO NOW!" screamed Rainbow Dash.
"B-But I-" muttered Cadance.
"NOW!" ordered Rainbow Dash, getting into a battle stance.
The princess used her magic to float herself up toward the wormhole she’d created. "Goodbye..." That was the last thing she said as the dome sucked her into its lower opening like a vacuum cleaner and she and the scroll disappeared from sight. It then contracted to a ball and winked out, the wind dying away in time.
Cadance awoke groggily. She cringed as she could hear crickets chirping, and feel grass brushing her fur. Cadance slowly rose to her hooves, rubbing her head.
Oh no… Dread filled the alicorn. Her friends… her friends were going to die. Cadance almost started to hyperventilate. Wait! If this goes correctly… the future will be rewritten for the better.
Cadance examined her surroundings. She was in a garden. What… where am I…? Cadance gasped as she saw a statue of her ancestor, Princess Amore. Of course! This was the castle gardens! It had been so many years since they’d looked like this — so lush, so green.
Cadance let out a relieved sigh but it was cut short as she remembered why she was here. Past me and Shining Armor will be heartbroken, but it's for the better. They'll have another foal at least. The future and I would cease to exist. I'm glad I won't exist — I won't be able to live with the guilt.
She heard hoofsteps coming she quickly grabbed the scroll with the time travel spell written on it, stashing it into her saddlebag. In her mind, she tried to visualize her old castle — it had been a very long since she was there. Teleportation only worked if you’d been in the place before, and it had to be close if you didn't want to exhausted. Before the guard came to her, the alicorn teleported away.
Cadance almost fell on her face, now in one of the old castle’s halls. Sweat poured down her face. Guess I went too far…
Cadance put on an invisibility spell — just in case — although it would only last for a few minutes. She silently hooftoed through the halls. She came across one with the doors looking fancier than the others. Are these the important rooms?
She creaked open a little bit of a door, but in the room was instead that of her long deceased aunt, Princess Luna. She was peacefully sleeping and Cadance wanted to go over and hug her and cry into her fur. She’d never gotten to say goodbye to anypony who’d died because of her daughter.
She slowly but quietly closed the door. Yup, these are the the old guest rooms. The pony from the future went along the hallway and around a corner. She pushed open another door and saw her past self and her now dead husband, sleeping peacefully, completely unaware of what was going to happen to them. She sighed in disappointment and closed the door.
She slowly opened a bit of the two other bedchamber doors, to her disappointment as instead of her baby was her aunt, Princess Celestia and her sister-in-law, Princess Twilight Sparkle.
She trotted to the last door in the hall. Part of her hoped it was her daughter's room, but part of her feared it was her daughter's room. She hesitated to open it at first, but took a deep breath and slowly swung the door open. There was her sleeping daughter.
She closed the door quietly behind her and slowly trotted towards the crib, her invisibility fading away. Fear clenched her chest. Can… can I do this…!? Just slice open the neck. Just one cut and she will die peacefully.
Cadance took out the sharp knife from her saddlebag and held near the foal’s throat. I can do this. She took a deep breath. She won’t feel a thing. She exhaled. It will all be over quickly. Another deep breath. This will save so much suffering. Her daughter slowly awoke.
Giggling.
She heard giggling. She looked down in horror as her daughter was giggling and making adorable coos. She looked so different from the tyrant she’d grown to fear in the future. Her coat was no longer a pale pastel pink in the future, having grown much darker with age. Her former elegant mane and tail had become messy and duller in color.
C'mon one slice… just one slice! The Princess of Love gritted her teeth, her eyes becoming misty. I… I am going to murder my daughter… She sniffed and pressed the blade against her baby's fur. The foal let out a confused noise. She was far too young to understand what was happening.
Before she could slit the infant’s throat, the door abruptly swung open. Cadance felt dread clench her chest again. An ear piercing shriek pained Cadance's ears. She quickly pocketed the weapon and grabbed Flurry Heart, who wailed and screamed.
The window?!
Cadance scratched that thought as she heard the the pony who witnessed her trying to murder cry out for the guards. Her horn lit with power as she prepared for teleportation, charging towards the pony who had walked in.
To the Princess of Love’s surprise, it was her past self. It's… it's me!? She didn't have time to ask questions as she teleported to avoid her past self.
“Stop!” shrieked Past Cadance, running after her. In the corner of the time traveler's eye, she saw Luna banging on her older sister's door.
Guards! The pink alicorn gritted her teeth as she released a blue wave of magical energy which flung the Crystal Guards back against the cold wall, knocking them unconscious.
The cloaked alicorn jumped in surprise as the Princess of the Night teleported right in front of her, unknowingly firing a powerful spell at her adopted niece. Thinking fast, Cadance threw up magical shield around her to block it just in time, and the two beams of magic clashed into each other, the ponies locked in stalemate. Fallout from their battle tore up the floor. Cadance strained to keep back her adoptive aunt.
To her surprise, her past self demanded Luna to stop, helping the time traveler push back Luna’s beam. “Don’t harm her — she has Flurry!” shrieked Past Cadance.
Luna at once let her magic drop, giving the pony from the future the upper hoof as she knocked the Princess of the Night off her hooves.
“Give me back my baby!” Cadance's past counterpart shouted, charging once more at the her future counterpart, who saw her throw her shoulder. The future pony once again teleported behind her past counterpart and bolted in the other direction down the corridor.
Cadance suddenly found herself not able to run anymore as a pink aura pulled her off her hooves and into the air. She lit her horn again to free herself, but nothing worked. Her hooves waved helplessly in the air. “What’s…? What’s happening?”
“I’m lifting you up,” announced a familiar voice Cadance recognized as her sister-in-law.
“And I’m blocking your attempts to teleport away,” added the voice of the Princess of the Day, who Cadance hadn't heard in what felt like forever.
I failed… it's all over… As the four princesses surrounded her, Cadance was carefully lowered to the floor. She sighed in defeat. There's no way I can escape now…
Several Crystal Guards surrounded the alicorn from the future, pointing their spears at her.
“Your majesties, are you alright?” said one Crystal Guard.
“We will be,” answered the past counterpart of Cadance, who turned her attention to her future counterpart. “Return my daughter unharmed, and I give you my word that we will be merciful.”
The princess took her daughter from Cadance's hooves. Past Cadance tried to calm down Equestria's future greatest monster.
By now, other ponies were now starting to arrive at the scene. “W–What happened?” asked Starlight Glimmer. Cadance could feel the stares of ponies on her.
“Somepony tried to kill Princess Flurry Heart,” past Cadance explained.
The new arrivals gasped at the unexpected news. “Let me at’tem!” an Applejack much younger than the one Cadance was used to demanded, marching towards her, until Rarity held her back.
“Not just somepony,” Luna corrected. “I fought her… this could only be a very powerful unicorn… or… no… it couldn’t be Chrysalis, could it?”
“There's only one way to find out,” said Twilight. Using her magic, she lifted off the cloak covering the time traveling pony.
There's no use now… why fight it? thought Cadance.
The ponies assembled, and stood in disbelief of Cadance's appearance. Shining Armor was the first to speak. His eyes moved from Cadance to her past self and back again. “It’s… it can’t be… it looks just like…”
Twilight walked up to her brother, and stood beside him. “Yes… it’s Cadance.”
Cadance felt the room begin to spin as she passed out, exhausted from the stress of her mission.
Confrontations
18 years into the future
Flurry Heart's POV
***
The pieces of my plan are falling into place. By now my parents should be in Canterlot soon with my great aunts, meeting with the King of Yakyakistan. I spent years on this plan, ever since I was fifteen and first got my hooves on a dark magic spell. I felt real power for the first time in my life. My parents had always told me once you do a dark magic spell, it corrupts you. Even if it is a simple small dark magic spell it will turn you into a shell of your old self. I don't care what my parents said. They have just shielded me from my true power!
I realized I had a thirst for power deep down and it made me realise, I don't want to be the perfect queen of the Crystal Empire. I don't want to be the epitome of purity and have ponies adore me and worship the ground I trot on. No… I want the opposite of that…
I always hated being the heir apparent to the Crystal Throne. I absolutely hate my subjects thinking that Princess Flurry Heart will protect and love them.
I realized something I had never known before: I was envious of my younger sister. Why would I be? Skyla can just trot around without a care in the world since she's not the heir to the throne, when I have the entire weight of the world balanced on my shoulders. Once I am done, I can finally be free...
Oh, if ponies knew what I am really like, they would know King Sombra should be the least of their worries.
I flipped a page in the book, 'The History of the Crystal Tyrant: King Sombra’. King Sombra, no matter how short his reign of the Crystal Empire was, he had good plans for the future. When documents written by the crystal usurper were discovered, they showed he would brainwash his subjects to be his army when he invaded Equestria. The subjects would be puppets for him to, 'play’ with. Thanks for the idea, Sombra.
I slammed the book shut and put it back into its original place in my bookshelf. My horn glowed as I used my telekinesis to move the bookshelf out of the way for me to enter the secret vault I constructed years all those years ago.
I opened the door, smiling as I caught sight of the closet where I kept my armor. I trotted up to the closet, opening the door. I forged the armor myself and it was made out of the very rare metal adamantium, which my sword was also made from. Adamantium could slice through dragon scales like butter and easily kill an alicorn.
Adamantium is silver in color, but using my magic, I turned the armor black as night. The armor is actually very reminiscent of Nightmare Moon's. I grasped the armor in my aura and slowly put on the chestplate and horseshoes. The armor actually has some of my dark powers stored. If I couldn't activate my magic somehow the armor would back me up.
Everypony should be asleep by now — in the dead of night nopony would see me. Now it was time for step one. My horn glowed and I closed my eyes in concentration as I prepared to teleport myself.
When I opened my eyes, right in front of me was the powerful ancient relic, the Crystal Heart. I was glad for my mother and father's stupidity to not guard the only thing protecting the Empire from the ice and snow. I grasped the Crystal Heart in my magical aura. I snarled when glancing over to my cutiemark. It showed my ability of wielding the relic and my magic over ice and snow. Me, being the Princess of Crystals was like a cruel joke.
In a flash of light, the Crystal Heart was gone, hidden deeply in the castle, never to be found. In the corner of my eye, I saw a bright light. I at first scowled as I turned around to see my younger sister and her friend, my mentor Sunburst's daughter with Starlight Glimmer, Starburst. They saw me somehow. But I smiled once I realized I could kill them together.
“Flurry, what are you doing!? Where's the Crystal Heart!?” exclaimed my sister.
“What are you wearing?! What's going on?” asked Starburst.
I simply glared at my sister as she took a few steps toward me. “Don't you dare take another step!”
Skyla stopped in surprise. “Flurry-?”
“Did you think I'd really just stand there and grow up to be the perfect little queen, huh Skyla? While I'm pressured to be some benevolent ruler, you just trot around not having a care in the world, knowing you wouldn't have to lift a hoof to help the Crystal Empire!” I interrupted.
“Flurry?”
“Shut up, Starburst!” I blurted out, the two ponies in front of me still dumbfounded. “No more… I'm done...” I muttered.
It's amazing what a little dark magic can do. I activated my dark magic, making my ice magic even more dangerous. I shot out ice. Ice as black as night went towards my sister and Starburst’s hearts.
The two mares let out a blood curdling shriek as the ice shards punctured their hearts, and they fell to the ground, crimson blood oozing out of their wounds. I simply stared at them. To my surprise, Skyla was still barely alive while her friend was already dead. Well, Skyla is an alicorn like me so she has extreme durability.
I didn't even suppress my triumphed grin as I trotted in front of my younger sibling, avoiding the pool of blood she was lying in. Still using my dark magic, I began to draw out Skyla's magic, causing the younger alicorn’s eyes to shrink to points.
The color mostly fades from the irises, the pupils clouding over as well. The magic is streaming into my horn as I feel myself getting stronger and stronger, and my younger sister’s cutie mark—a crescent moon—fades from her haunch along with her life.
Skyla’s blood spilled out of her fatal wound as I could see her eyes gazing up to see my own betrayal, and confusion filled her dull eyes. That was the last thing she did as without her magic, her alicorn durability faded away with it.
The Crystal Ponies — no, my loyal and faithful army — no doubt heard the commotion and were walking up. Time for the next part of the plan.

The Crystal Castle was now a thing of deep gray–purple peril, tipped and studded with lethally sharp barbs and crags. Much, much better. It was very similar to when King Sombra was in charge. I wiped some of my sister's blood from my hooves as I stepped out onto the balcony.
It was the same balcony where I’d been shown to the Empire not long after I was born. The torches flared up purple, green, and white fire at the railing. As I looked down — again just as before when Sombra was ruling — a long, lusterless line of crystal ponies trudged past, forelegs shackled and connected one to the next by chains running through the collars around their necks. The Crystal Guards, already corrupted didn't hesitate to strike the crystal ponies if they stopped trotting.
Oh, it never seems to amaze me that nopony thought I would do this. But my plan has been in the works for years. I have the power of another alicorn in my hooves now. I flirt with the idea of taking down my great aunts. Making them die a slow, painful death while stealing their magic.
I look to the left as I see a stallion crystal pony chained in another line filled with many others of his kind, he gets a helmet clapped onto his head by one of my guards, obscuring everything but his ears; a black crest of hair stands up on top, and a sick green light comes to life in the eye slits. Then the guard move onto the next crystal pony in the line.
I awe in amazement it's… it's absolutely beautiful. I chuckle as many of my subjects stare at me, Equestria's new princess, in disbelief before getting corrupted. Neigh, not princess. I never cared for that title. I never understood why my great aunts and mother took the title of Princess when they ruled superpowered nations. Now that the power is mine, it was only proper that I set things to rights. To this day I will forever be known as the Queen of all of Equestria, Flurry Heart.

Cadence awoke with a loud gasp, sweating bullets. Yet another nightmare. The same one as last night, the night before, and the same for years. She hasn't had a good night's sleep ever since drinking a potion that Zecora gave her to see what happened on that fateful night. It felt just like yesterday when she saw in the eyes of her eldest daughter’s rise to power.
Bright light surrounded and assaulted Cadence's senses as she quickly shut her eyes. Her cloak and saddlebags were gone. She could sense an inhibitor ring around her slender horn, blocking out any of her alicorn powers. This wouldn't normally be a problem to the Princess of Love as during the war she had been in and escaped from situations like this. But this was different as she was so heavily restrained she couldn't even move a single muscle. That plus not being able to observe her surroundings.
The pink alicorn gritted her teeth as the thought of her adoptive granddaughter blinding her with her dark magic. Even though her sister-in-law did everything she could to restore her eyesight, she was still extremely sensitive to bright light.
Well, she could understand the heavy restraints. It's not everyday somepony tried to murder a princess... and nearly succeeded.
Cadence tried once again to bulge but her restraints rendered her completely immobile. She gritted her teeth, but now wasn't the time for frustration as she needed to get out of here and kill her daughter by whatever means necessary even if it takes her life. Even without her sight, she still had her other senses. To her left she could hear beeping in time with her heartbeat. The Love Princess could hear some shuffling of papers and some soft hoofsteps coming hear her.
“Oh, Your Highnesses!” Exclaimed a feminine sounding voice. “I-”
“Is she awake?” Rudely interrupted what Cadence presumed was Princess Luna.
“Luna, tone!” scolded a motherly tone what could only be associated with Princess Celestia.
“Sorry,” mumbled Princess Luna.
“Excuse my Aunt Luna, Doctor, and may you please leave as we have some.. business with her.”
Cadence froze as she recognized that voice, her heart rapidly beating. It sounded just like her only younger.
“Of course, Your Highness.” The doctor quickly left the infirmary.
“Now don't be stupid, fool. Do remember to not try to do anything funny,” warned Princess Luna. “Oh, and that inhibitor ring not only takes away your magic and has a confession spell cast on it. Lying to us is completely impossible. Now open your eyes I want you to face me.”
Cadence bit her lip. “I-I can't it's too bright and I have sensitive eyes since I was once blinded.”
“Oh? Very well,” said Princess Celestia.
Cadence sighed in relief as the light was died down and she could finally open her eyes only to see the three princesses before her were glaring down at her.
“Talk. Who are you?” demanded Cadence’s past self.
“I am Princess Cadence from the future,” Cadence gritted her teeth. Damn that confession spell.
“So our theory is true…” said Princess Celestia. “How did you come to this time?”
“The same way Starlight Glimmer messed with the timeline.”
“Why? Why would you want to k-kill Flurry!?” Cried out Cadence's past counterpart.
“Cadence…” soothed Celestia, putting her hooves on her adoptive niece’s shoulder.
The past counterpart of Cadence took a deep breath. “I want to know why?”
Future Cadence took a deep breath. “You want to know why?” She hissed.
“Tell me,” demanded Past Cadence.
“Shining and I...” croaked out the Future Princess of Love, clearing her throat she continued. “We had another daughter. Unknowing to us Flurry Heart was extremely jealous of her younger sister since she wasn't the heir to the throne and had more freedom. The bitterness in her heart had made her turn to dark magic and she got hooked on it. The dark magic corrupted her and...and…”
Future Cadence chewed on her lip. Looking up she saw the impatient stares of the three princesses before her.
“Go on,” ordered Princess Luna. “What had happened?”
“One fateful night, eighteen years into the future Shining Armor and I went on a train to Canterlot, but it had complications, making us late for a meeting with the King of Yakyakistan. Then I thought it was inconvenience, but it ended up saving my life. During that train ride Flurry Heart, so drunk on dark magic killed my younger daughter, turned the crystal ponies into her brainwashed army, destroyed Ponyville, killed thousands-”
“STOP IT!”
Future Cadence stopped, bewildered as the pony who interrupted her was herself.
Past Cadence marched up right up her future counterpart. “You're lying!” She spat.
“I am not!” defended Future Cadence. “Look at me! I am telling the honest truth!” Future Cadence just knew that her past counterpart would deny everything she had said.
“Cadence...” Celestia stepped right next to her adoptive niece, trying to calm her down, reaching her hoof out to the Princess of Love's shoulder.
“NO!” exclaimed Past Cadence, slapping her adoptive aunt’s hoof away. “I know she is lying! My Flurry Heart would never do such a...a… a-atrocities!” She stormed out of the infirmary, furious.
“Cadence!” Shouted Celestia, going after her niece, but she stopped to look at her younger sister.
“You go, Celestia. I'll stay here,” said Luna, tearing away her glaring at future counterpart of the Princess of Love.
“Okay…” muttered Celestia, rushing to find Past Cadence.
Luna turned around, her attention solely on Future Cadence. “Now then we have some business,” she glared at the pink alicorn.
Future Cadence chewed on her lip. She needed a plan, fast. The future depended on it. They made a mistake making her be able to see.
