Chapter 1: BEGIN HERE

BEGIN HERE

On a completely normal, nothing-out-of-the-ordinary day, Twilight Sparkle awoke at precisely 6:30 AM, as usual. She lazily rolled out of bed, brushed her mane, and began the long trek towards the kitchen at the far end of her castle. Her hooves clacked on the floor, echoing loudly down the halls in both directions. She took a brief moment to admire the sunrise from the window before preparing breakfast for Spike and herself. It comforted her to know that, at this very moment, her friend and teacher Celestia was rising the sun for everypony in Equestria. But to Twilight, it felt like it was just for her.

She ate her breakfast in silent solitude for a few minutes until she heard the familiar sound of claws against crystal echoing from afar. Spike entered the kitchen. "Morning, Twilight," Spike said groggily, immediately letting out a long, drawn-out yawn.

"Good morning, Spike," Twilight replied. "I made roasted oats."

"Mhmm," Spike mumbled in agreement and sat down to devour the breakfast.

Just like every other morning, Twilight thought to herself. Today would be like every other day had been, she already knew it. They all started exactly the same and ended in a similar fashion. For months now, the kingdom had been devoid of any friendship issues, monster attacks or anything else that would have even been considered a minor problem.

Twilight sighed. "Spike?"

"Myeah?" he replied with a mouth full of oats. A few tumbled out from the edges of his mouth onto the table.

"What are your plans for today?" She asked in hopes that he would reply with something fascinating.

He finished swallowing with a large gulp. "Same as always. Doing chores around the castle and reading comic books." He paused. "What? Should I be doing something else?"

Twilight sighed once more. "Nope, I was just curious is all..."

Spike immediately began stuffing his face with the oats again and Twilight left to go to her study. Maybe there'll be a book I haven't read in a while, she thought to herself as she scanned the multitude of shelves for something that she didn't already practically have memorized. But, the search was fruitless. She almost considered picking up a dry and fairly uninteresting book on soil sediments, but she had already read that one several times in the past month.

Twilight groaned audibly and flopped onto her reading chair, gazing upwards for several moments to observe the patterns etched in the crystal ceiling. She looked at the clock on the wall, watching the hands tick by. Minutes passed, and she almost fell into some sort of trance watching the clock tick and tock for so long. She opened her eyes and got back to wondering what she was going to do with her day. But then, she suddenly remembered that she had five friends. Five interesting friends, all of which were different and interesting and fun to spend time with. She suddenly found her mind racing as she thought about which of them she would go to visit.

Fluttershy? They could have a picnic outside in the sun, or drink tea together. That sounded nice.

Rarity? Her and Twilight often enjoyed talking at the cafe, and Rarity always had something interesting to say.

Rainbow Dash? A day with Rainbow Dash was certain to be action-packed.

Applejack? She'd probably be working on the farm, but there were always fun things to do around the Apple family's home.

Pinkie Pie? There's no telling what could happen with her. A day with her would be a complete surprise.

"Hmm," Twilight said to herself as she continued to stare up at the ceiling, "who to visit..."

"I think I'll visit Fluttershy today."

"I'm in the mood to see what's up with Rarity."

"Rainbow Dash is bound to have something exciting to do."

"I'm in the mood to go visit Applejack."

"I'm up for anything. I think I'll go visit Pinkie Pie."
