Stardust Comet, Prince of Insanity

by Stardust Comet 123

Chapter 1: Prologue

Prologue

Stardust Comet wasn't always known as the Prince of Insanity. Long ago, about 1000 years or so, Stardust Comet was born as a little pegasus colt to a very caring couple. Stardust's mane and tail were jet-black with midnight-blue down the middle, and he had a fiery-red coat and emerald-green eyes. The father was a thestral (A.K.A. Bat-Pony) named Astro. Stardust's mother was a pegasus named Serenity. Astro and Serenity were overwhelmed with joy when the time came for their child's birth, but there would be mixed feelings about that day. Sadly, Serenity died just a few minutes after giving birth to Stardust.

About a month later, Astro was approached by Commander Hurricane. Commander Hurricane told Astro about the recent discovery of two young alicorn fillies who were named Celestia and Luna, and how the two had chosen to become the rulers of Equestria.

"What doth this havith to do with me?" Astro asked bitterly, still grieving the loss of his wife.

"Because, I thought that thou would be perfect for the job of being a member of their royal guard." Commander Hurricane replied.

"What about my son, Stardust? Who would take care of him if I'm busy protecting the new princesses?" Astro asked, not wanting to have his son be neglected.

"Not to worry, soldier. Clover the Clever volunteered to take care of him for thee." Commander Hurricane told Astro reassuringly.

And so, Stardust and his father moved to Canterlot. They stayed there until the castle that was being built for the new princesses was finished. Astro became the Captain of the Royal Guard, and Clover the Clever did as Commander Hurricane had said to Astro. However, they soon learned that Stardust was rather special. It was on Stardust's sixth birthday that his "uniqueness" was discovered, also granting Stardust his Cutie-mark. What made Stardust Comet unique, you might wonder. There are two answers to that. The first is that he was the first pony in history to have parents from two different pony-tribes. The other is that, even though he was a pegasus, he was somehow able to utilize magic. When this happened, a white flash occurred on Stardust's flanks. Stardust turned to see what his Cutie-mark was and saw silhouetted crown that had been broken into five pieces.

After this unexpected event occurred, Clover the Clever began training young Stardust how to use and control his magical abilities. However, not every-pony in Equestria saw Stardust's ability to use magic as a good thing. Nearly every-pony that Stardust knew acted coldly towards him, even though he had done nothing wrong. All of the foals and fillies that Stardust knew in Canterlot, some of whom had been friends with him, now either ran away or attacked Stardust when they saw him coming. This was because they were afraid, afraid of how "different" Stardust was compared to them. The adults were not quite as bad, they would simply stare at Stardust with looks of either; fear, hatred, or disgust.

But on the year of his fifteenth birthday, because his father was the Captain of the Royal Guard, Stardust was allowed to attend the Grand Galloping Gala at the Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters. Unfortunately for Stardust, no-pony was too busy enjoying the Grand Galloping Gala to think badly of him. Just about every-pony there did what they could to avoid him. However, there was one young mare at the gala that night who actually approached Stardust. She walked over to Stardust and tapped on his shoulder. When Stardust turn around to see who was there, he was surprised to see none other than Princess Luna herself.

She looked quite beautiful to Stardust, and was no more than a year or two older than him. But Stardust was confused as to why she would come over by him.

"Doth thou knowith how to dance?" Luna asked Stardust, who simply responded by nodding his head. "Good, then we ask that thou please dance with us." Luna said, slightly blushing as she said it. Stardust couldn't believe what was happening, Princess Luna was asking him to dance with her. Aside from his father and Clover the Clever, every-pony that Stardust knew had treated Stardust as if though he was some kind of monster.

Stardust felt himself falling in love with the young princess as he bowed and told her "It would be an honor to dance with thee, Princess Luna."

"Huzzah!" Princess Luna cheered and the two began to dance together, which made many jaws drop. Some were surprised that the princess was dancing with Stardust, while others were surprised at how well the two were dancing together. But for the first time in years, Stardust felt that he had a friend.

"Princess Luna, I hopest that thou doth not think this question rude. Why didst thou chooseth me as thy dancing partner?" Stardust asked the young princess as they danced together.

"Thy father is Sir Astro, therefore thou must haveth a kind and noble heart like him. We chose to dance with thee because we saw good in thou, even though most others doth not." Luna replied.

After the gala ended, Stardust and Luna bid each other farewell. It wasn't long until Stardust than began to accompany his father to work. Soon, Stardust Comet and Princess Luna began to spend everyday together. However, on Stardust's sixteenth birthday, something awful happened. Stardust was accompanying Luna and her guards, which included his father, on a diplomatic trip to Saddle Arabia. It was on their way back that they were attacked by a group of outlaws from the griffin kingdom.

"Stardust, take Princess Luna and run! The other guards and I will try to hold these bastards off, now run!" Astro said to his son, locking swords with a griffin. Stardust did as he was told, and he and Luna escaped from the attackers. They later learned that the guards were victorious, but at a cost. Stardust's father, Astro, was now dead and Stardust had now inherited his father's sword.

Overwhelmed by grief, Stardust began to search for a way that he could try to bring his father back. After searching every day for an entire year, even with help from Princess Luna, Stardust found nothing useful. Stardust then turned toward experimentation for results. He began trying to create a spell to resurrect the dead, using small rodents and birds as test subjects. Attempt after attempt failed, making Luna feel as if though her friend had fallen into madness. But, after seven months of trial and error, Stardust had finally met success. From that day forward, Stardust Comet was known as the Father of Necromancy.

But, that's not all that happened on that fateful day. After Stardust's spell became successful, a white light surrounded Stardust and he found himself transported to a place he had never been before. The place wasn't like anywhere in Equestria. It was completely empty, except for the strange orbs of light that seemed to go on forever in every direction.

"It's a pleasant surprise to see you here, Stardust." said a female voice from behind Stardust. Stardust quickly turned around, only to see Princess Celestia standing there.

"Princess Celestia." Stardust said, bowing quickly. As he got back up, he asked "What is this place?"

"I'm not entirely sure yet, Luna and I only found this place yesterday." Celestia replied.

"I see." Stardust said, somewhat disappointed. But then, Stardust saw he had begun to glow and he felt himself being slowly lifted up into the air. Celestia simply watched in amazement, just as completely surprised as Stardust was. They both closed their eyes as Stardust began glowing brighter and brighter. Eventually, the glowing stopped and they appeared inside of the throne room.

"Um, Stardust?" Stardust heard Luna say. Stardust's eyes shot open and he saw both princesses looking down at him.

"What, is there something on my face?" Stardust said sarcastically as he got up.

"Not exactly." Luna giggled as she used her magic to give Stardust a small mirror, which he then used to see what she meant. Stardust's jaw dropped when he saw that he now had a cone-shaped horn on top of his head. Stardust stared at his reflection, completely in disbelief at the fact that he had become an alicorn like the princesses.

"Well, I'd say this calls for a celebration!" Stardust exclaimed joyfully, "Cheese for everyone! Wait, scratch that. Cheese for no one, I suppose it's just as much of a celebration if you don't like cheese." Stardust's coronation was held the next day, to the confusion and disdain of many who knew him. However, those who had distrusted Stardust soon learned how wrong they were. For Stardust not only aided the Princesses in their battle against King Sombra, but he also distracted Discord so that they could find the Elements of Harmony. Things were starting to look up for Stardust.

Sadly, the happiness of Stardust Comet was not to last. Stardust, who had been waiting for what he felt was the right moment to proclaim his love to Princess Luna, had waited too long to do so. For Princess Luna, as you should very well know, had turned into Nightmare Moon and was banished to the moon by Princess Celestia. When Stardust learned that the mare he loved was gone, his heart shattered and his mind became unhinged. He then left Equestria, cursing Celestia and vowing to one day return in order to enact revenge against her for banishing the love of his life. After that, Stardust was never seen or heard from again...
