Picardy Third's Poems for Pony-Minded People
Chapter 1: Volume 1

This... Twilight Sparkle
Alone, outcast
I find a familiar tune
A repeated fate plays again
As I walk under cover of the moon
To hear them laugh
To hear them jeer
Like the cries of demons
Painfully reminding me what I fear
I am the Great and Powerful…
Oh, what point remains?
I have lost all that I own
Do I even hold true my name?
I turn my head and glance
The horizon dark, shadows high
Barely in sight, a village stands
Under Luna’s gem of the sky
By folly act of children
Disaster struck, peril ensued
And from Everfree’s forbidden depths emerged
A great beast of midnight blue
My efforts, though valiant
Were but foal’s play
Defeated and upstaged by one
Magic powerful and bright as day
This unicorn, this hero
This ray of hope, this Twilight
Left me homeless, left me broken
Running scared into the night
But as my hooves tire
As my body aches
I know I cannot run any longer
I must do what it takes
Courage in tow
A hastened, furious pace
With fervor I return
I will tackle this
Face to face!
I will find her
This… Twilight Sparkle
She must know
What she did tonight
I was beaten
At my own game
And in doing
She saved my life
So I thank you
Twilight Sparkle
Because of you
Clear now, I see
She takes me in
Her house, a hollowed tree
Too easily, my apology she accepts
How is it she can tolerate me?
A bed, some food, a friend
The latter I’ve had, but not all three
From a window I can see the moon
And swear to Celestia it smiled at me
“For now, you stay here.” She says
A tired voice, yet so kind
With a smile and soft goodnight
She leaves me alone with my mind
It’s time to change
Forget about the past
For this day all too well
Could have been my last
I have found her
This… Twilight Sparkle
She has shown me
Now I see
And so I am
Forever grateful
I’m a new
Reborn
Trixie

Don't Cry
Sleep
Lay upon your bed
The world's a scary place
For a filly so small
I'll protect you
And I will never leave you
Even when I'm gone
Don't you fret
Your mother loves you
So Scootaloo, be strong
I know that you are sad, my dear
Please don't cry, don't shed a tear
I will be here
Picture a valley full of life
Warm sun, blue sky
I'll be waiting under the tallest tree
With a lily in my mane
So don't cry, my dear
My angel
My only child
I love you
Goodbye

Remember
Remember when we used to run
Through the orchard by your home
An endless race we never won
But we’d never run alone
Remember when we used to talk
For hours at a time
Back when words didn’t mean a lot
And were only yours and mine
Remember when we used to dream
About a life by each others’ side
The world was ours, or so it seemed
How things change over time
Remember when teh sun would set
And I would fly away
What I wouldn’t give for the chance
To fly back to you again
Remember when I got the news
The smile on my face
A uniform of gold and blue
A winged bolt upon the flank
Remember when you yelled at me
And though tough, you almost cried
I promised you I’d never leave
And knowingly, I lied
Remember when we wouldn’t speak
It was immature and wrong
I didn’t know our little feud
Would last so bucking long
Remember our last winter wrap-up
How the fighting finally ceased
And two days into the new month
It was time for me to leave
Remember when I came back home
Pinkie’s party was insane
All my friends were gathered there
But without you, I was afraid
Remember when I walked through town
To your farm, I knew the way
An unforgiving stone I found
Upon its surface was your name
Remember when I said goodbye
I left an apple by your side
I don’t think I could even cry
I could only wonder why
Remember how I left that night
To join the Wonderbolts again
Only stopping to see Twilight
And talk about our fallen friend
Oh, Applejack what have I done?
Our young lives had just begun
But my dream just wouldn’t wait
Long enough for me to say
I never wanted to be the one
To leave behind all we’d done
And all that we had yet to do
That’s why I’m writing this to you
‘Cause you’re my best friend, and will always be
And although we’re apart
You know I’ll never leave

Triumphs Six
A maple, tall
Dormant, standing docile
Seeming sleep and
Placed unfittingly within
Thriving village streets
A cold, white winter’s gift
Bathed upon
Bare branches
A skeletal ghost
Guarding precious life
From prying hands
Of element
Its hollowed core warms
Aged, brittle bones
In deep December
Sheltered in a
Rocking chair
Mirrored the tree
Her home
What power graced
Her fluted temple
Long forgotten
Without reproach
Cloaked under velvet
Black of night
With naught but
Precious musings for company
This standing beacon
Of decades past
Clings weakly to the spark
Amends to be made
In reflection
Her triumphs six
Now long forgotten
The way gone of
Finite particles
Resting ease on
Slippery edge
And she the one
Whose fall forgiving
Carry the ashes
Of fallen harmony
Cyan Sky
Living, breathing, caring
Laughing, jubilant
A beautiful sight
To work for, to be
By her side
Triumphs six
Were it not for
Gentile direction
From ageless idol
These triumphs six
Fade into obscurity
And the elder
Come to pass
Alone
But these triumphs
Being born of
Luscious radiance
Shone through foggy
Hillsides bringing doubt
Illuminating eyes
Once closed
Forever to see
Simple reflection
Peacefully shuts
Tired eyes
Triumphs Six
Ease her mind
To finally bring
Sleep eternal
