Edge Unleashed, the Struggles of a Vamp Kid
Chapter 1: Prolouge: The Struggle Begins
My name is Francis Yegde, I am a 20 year old college student who has a dark secret. This dark secret is the worse torment a human being can possibly feel. Some would consider this secret the most unholy sin imaginable. The secret is the chains that hold me down, the knowledge of knowing... I am a vamp kid. Becoming a vamp kid is like becoming a vampire. You meet one of their kind, they bite you, and next thing you know... you are ONE OF THEM. Never mind that for now, I should probably talk more about myself.
I guess I'll start off with my appearance. My natural appearance is just a basic T-shirt and shorts, but as of now, it has all changed. Since the fateful day I turned, I have dyed my once brown hair into an inky black. I have been wearing crimson red contacts to replace my natural hazel eyes. I've been wearing a grey hoodie and torn up jeans recently, making myself looking like some stereotypical moody delinquent. This apparel change was nowhere near the worse of it all.
For some reason I can't seem to stop wearing fake vampire teeth. Those same kind you get at the Halloween stores and other such shops. Its become an addiction of sorts. I tell myself constantly to take them out, but I just can't bring myself to do it. It doesn't help that they are quite uncomfortable, but alas, they have been sinking in.
I used to be your run of the mill guy until the fateful day... my first day of college. It was 12:30, about time for lunch. I proceeded from my last class into the cafeteria to be met by a whole group of new faces. It seemed like this was going to be great, I couldn't have made a bigger mistake. I ordered my lunch and looked for a table to sit at. All of them were filled to the brim with other students, except for one. In the back of the cafeteria was a lone round table.
Seated there was a single girl; her hair a raven black with a few pink streaks. She was wearing a black t-shirt with a skull on the chest, a small black skirt, leggings, and dark grey army boots. She was alone, and for good reason, but my idiotic past self didn't see that. I made the horrible mistake and decided to sit at the table. As I sat down I was able to get a better look at her face, she had on black mascara, black lipstick, and her ears were pierced with two mini skulls. She looked up at me, her eyes as red as crimson, probably due to some contacts. She stared at me for a second, and what happened next changed my life forever.
"Sup?" she asked. Her voice was shocking to me, it was much softer than I expected it to be.
"Hey," I replied, "Mind if I take a seat?"
"Why the hell not? Its always fun to have a new-blood arrive." Her sentence flew over my head, I hadn't a clue on what she meant by "new-blood." Her personality so far was quite unique, but at the same time somewhat unnerving. However, I still decided that I needed to see what this girl was all about.
We proceeded to talk about different things about us, such as hobbies and interests. It was quite the pleasant conversation, but something was off the entire time. Her teeth... they seemed to be black. My biggest regret so far was asking her why that was...
So anyway, back to the present. I was walking back to my college dorm and taking a shortcut through an ally, I know, what an ingenious idea. As I continued my walk, I felt an odd present following me, as if something was tucked away in the shadows. This was definitely not what I wanted my Friday night to be like.
I started to quicken my pace, as this eerie presence was really getting to me. As I sped up, whatever was stalking me seemed to keep up. Thankfully, I saw the exit of this godforsaken ally and ran out. Catching my breath, I started to slowly walk down the street, just to be hit in the back of the head with a blunt object.
It was dark for quite some time, but finally my eyes forced themselves open. I was laying in a field, the soft breeze was the only sound that met my ears. It was definitely worry some. I mean, who wouldn't be a bit freaked out if they woke up in some ominous place with no knowledge on what happened? I lifted myself off the ground and thankfully saw that my bag was still with me. Inside were just a few essentials for me to live; a laptop, my phone, a few snack bars, an emergency switchblade, and my wallet. I lifted it over my shoulders and continued to walk. After a nice peaceful walk I discovered a quaint little town in the distance. Now that I'm almost out of this forest, I pulled my hood up. My vamp kid blood will boil in the sun.
Finally, some civilization, now I can finally figure out where the hell I've ended up. The town itself looked more or less like some sort of medieval village. It was highly out of place compared to the city. It all felt like I was tripping some serious balls. The happiness that shined off this village was the disgusting to me. I needed to find some locals and try to find out on how I got here.
As I walked into town I felt sick to my stomach. This town was filled with bipedal pastel horse people, aka anthropomorphic horses. That wasn't the worse part though, the worst part by far was the fact that everyone of them only seemed to have one emotion, joy... Joy was the emotional equivalent of cancer. I sighed, knowing that I am going to have to deal with these vial creatures.
As I walked into town the smiling faces of the pastel horses turned to fear, as they proceeded to run from me. Good, at least my presence ruins their happiness. Maybe my day won't be so torturous as I thought it would be. As I continued my miserable walk, I noticed a specific building that caught my eye, a tree house. It wasn't a small shack in a tree, oh no, this house was a fucking tree. The tree seemed to be producing an aura that was different from the rest of the town, it seemed dark. This place would be perfect for me.
I knocked on the door a couple of times. After waiting a few seconds I was greeted by a small dragon.
"What are you?" the dragon asked as he blankly stared at me.
"That's a nice thing to say to someone who just knocked at your door."
"Sorry, who are you?"
"My names Francis, what about yourself?"
"My name is Spike." After we told each other our names we stood their for some time in awkward silence. He just gave an awkward smile as a stared down at him.
"So, why are you here?" Spike asked.
"The tree interested me, and I wanted to see what was inside."
"Ah, let me go see Twilight, she runs the place."
His words instantly caught my attention, a woman named Twilight. Twilight, what a great romance series, don't you just hate it when they insult such a work of art? I'm getting off track, back to the talk of this Twilight character. After a minute or two, I was greeted by the one thing that made me gain a fetish for anthropomorphic horses.
Twilight was gorgeous, her violet hair with that pink streak, those purple eyes, that sleek body; everything about her was perfect.
"Can I help you?"
"Oh!" her question broke me out of my hypnosis, "Sorry, my name's Francis, mind telling me where exactly we are?"
"We are at the Golden Oaks Library, in the town of Ponyville," she replied, "Since your probably a confused foreigner, Ponyville is a town in Equestria."
"Huh," was my only reply, "My home was this mystical nightmare called Earth, you know anything about it and how I ended up here?"
"Your question is surely intriguing, come inside, I'll make us some tea and we'll chat."
The beautiful mare lead me inside of her tree home, and it was dark. The only light was being produced by some safely lit candles. I never got to mention it, as I was broken out of my trance, but Twilight's fashion sense was fantastic. Her clothing was like one of a maid's, commonly referred as a type of Lolita fashion. It was another plus about her. That fetish mentioned earlier, she was the sole reason it continued to grow. It all seemed to be going well, but then it hit me. If she's truly a goth, then we could never truly be a couple if she knew of my dark secret. From this day forwards, I must never let her find out of my vamp kid nature. I cannot have this love broken so fast.
