Chapter 47: Chapter 46: Exploring Spira: Chaos Ruins
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAfter leaving Baaj Temple, the party headed back on the airship, having no other business in the ruined temple. It was getting late as the airship set off and cruised along the ocean, the night sky finally able to be seen as they flew away from the storm clouds surrounding the area. Luckily, inside of the vessel were lots of rooms for crew members to rest while the ship cruised in the middle of the night.
Since the group had gone almost a couple days without sleep, they needed some rest after beating Celestia and searching around Baaj Temple. While everyone headed for their own available rooms, Rainbow Dash kept thinking, yawning loudly as she looked out the window on the observation deck. Her exhaustion was taking its toll on her as she began to nod off. She felt a hoof on her shoulder, reacting on instinct from her tired state and pounced on whoever touched her. The pegasus relaxed when it was Fluttershy who was getting her attention, her cheeks blushing madly as their snouts were inches away from each other.
"Fluttershy, don't sneak up on me like that," Rainbow said, getting off the summoner as she sat up.
"S-Sorry," Fluttershy apologized. "I was wondering where you were. You didn't come down to the cabins with the rest of us."
"Oh...Sorry. I'm still trying to think of how we can stop Sin." Rainbow yawned again, too tired to think anymore. "I have no idea how long it's been since we slept. I'm gonna pass out at any moment."
"W-Well...umm..." Fluttershy looked away, fiddling with her long mane as she struggled to find the words to speak. "...I-I uhh...was wondering if...If we..."
"What?" Rainbow asked, being patient even though she wanted to sleep in the next five seconds.
"...Do you want to...sleep with me tonight?" the summoner asked.
If Rainbow Dash was tired, she was wide awake after hearing that request. "...W-What?"
"I-I mean, I'm just asking...Oh, it was a stupid question. I shouldn't have said anything." She was about to walk back down to the cabins, but Rainbow stopped her as she stepped on her tail.
"Wait. I didn't exactly say no," Rainbow said, her cheeks tinted pink as she scratched her head. "I was just a little...thrown back by that..."
"Oh..." The two stood in silence as they stared awkwardly at anything but each other. "...W-Well...Do you?"
"I kind of want to know why you're being so bold right now." As much as Rainbow Dash wanted to sleep together with her marefriend, it was going to be an awkward moment if anypony caught them the next morning. And with Cid around, being very overprotective of his niece, he'd probably do the same thing Pinkie did to her earlier at the temple, only off the side of the airship near the engines. "Kinda risky with other ponies on the same ship."
"...I don't care." Rainbow's heart skipped a beat as her blush deepened a little. "I want you close to me. If we confront Sin when we find another way to beat it...then I want to spend as much time together with you as long as I can."
The cyan mare's blush disappeared, now realizing what would happen if they win or lose. If Sin kills them, then they're dead and Spira will remain suffering under its power. If they kill Sin, she'll disappear. Of all the worst times to ever remind her of who she really was, it only made keeping her being a dream a secret much more difficult. They had only just gotten together after escaping from Bevelle and learned of their treachery against the teachings. And only a couple days later did Bahamut finally reveal to her she's a living illusion created by him and the rest of the fayth.
She worried about how the others would react when they find out. Especially Fluttershy. Should she just tell everyone now and get it over with before it's too late? Would they stop trying to defeat Sin after telling them or will they still follow through with stopping it? Will her relationship with Fluttershy end? So many questions ran through her head, and she was afraid of the negative outcomes after going through so much pain since coming to Spira. Rainbow Dash thought she had a normal life, but it was all a creation, like a puppet given life for only a moment before its new soul would be sucked away once it felt emotions.
She had to keep this a secret, like Rarity had kept the truth about the pilgrimage a secret and her status among the living. If she was going to disappear as a memory, she may as well spend what time she does have left as a physical pegasus with Fluttershy. Maybe leave her a small message before it was time on one of those spheres.
"Rainbow Dash?" Fluttershy got her attention after she just stood there, not answering her request. "Are you ok?"
"...Uhh...Yeah, yeah...I uhh...I think I spaced out for a minute," she chuckled, trying to play off her silence with her exhaustion. "I must be really out of it. Let's head to bed before I crash on the floor."
The two pegasi headed to the cabins and entered an empty room together. Just the sight of the soft, comfortable bed made Rainbow just want to plop down on it and immediately fall asleep. Rainbow took off her clothes, discarding them on the floor and leapt into the mattress, sighing blissfully as she made herself comfortable in the cloud-like bed. Before she was able to fully fall asleep, she felt the bed shift, watching Fluttershy climb in with her, her dress taken off and folded neatly.
They snuggled closely together, Rainbow wrapping a wing around Fluttershy and holding her close. The two looked in each other's tired eyes, moving closer as they kissed, softly and passionately. The summoner nuzzled her cheek against Rainbow's chest as she fell asleep in her embrace, her forelegs wrapping themselves loosely around the cyan pegasus's body. As she fell in a deep sleep, Rainbow looked down at her lover, feeling guilty for keeping her inevitable fate from Fluttershy.
She was tired, but she couldn't sleep now. Her mind was pulled away from the truth of who she is when they fought Celestia, discovered the secrets in Baaj Temple, and figure out another way to defeat Sin. But when they do, everything they had done together will only bring up sad memories, and Fluttershy didn't want that. Eventually, sleep began finding Rainbow Dash as she laid in bed, feeling Fluttershy's warm body against hers and her slow, calm breathing. Before closing her eyes, she placed a soft kiss on the yellow mare's head, holding her tightly with her wing and hooves and nuzzling her muzzle against her soft, pink mane.
As morning rose on the horizon, the crew on the airship was up bright and early as they worked on the controls and weapons on board. In one of the rooms, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were still sound asleep, though the former was sprawled on the bed as she snored. She began to wake up, smacking her dry lips as she squinted her eyes open, staring up at the ceiling. Rainbow rolled on her side, feeling Fluttershy's hooves tighten a little around her barrel, wanting to sleep for a few more minutes.
The moment she turned, her eyes widened when she saw Cid leering at her, having somehow snuck into the room without making a single sound. "What the hay are you doing sleeping with my niece!?"
Rainbow yelped and backed away, accidentally sending both her and Fluttershy off the bed and crumbling in a heap on the floor. Groaning in annoyance, she apologized to the startled pegasus she fell on, standing up to glare at the overprotective uncle.
"They hay's your problem!?" she shouted.
"You are my problem!" Cid leapt over the bed in a single bound and tackled Rainbow Dash away from Fluttershy. He easily pinned her to the ground, the pegasus unable to break free from his earth pony strength. "Just what exactly were you doing to Fluttershy in that bed!?"
"We were just sleeping! She's old enough to do whatever she wants!" Rainbow squirmed, but she was trapped underneath the Al Bhed stallion.
"Likely story! I'm gonna have to keep an eye on you before you think about knocking my niece up!" he said.
"I'm a mare!" Rainbow shouted, growing annoyed and finding it hard to believe that Cid and Pinkie carried the same random, and annoying, genes.
"Well, by your attitude and the way you walk, you look like you got a pair growing under that fruity tail of yours!" Cid lifted the pegasus up and dragged her out of the room. "Out!"
"You are worse than Pinkie Pie!" she shouted as she was dragged out of the room by her tail. "Fluttershy, tell your uncle to stop picking on me!"
Rainbow yelped as she was flung down the hall by Cid's strength, crashing into the wall of the corridor in a heap. While in her daze, her clothes were tossed at her, draping over her head. After clearing her head, she grumbled as she put her outfit back on, ruining a good morning for her. In the room she ended up next to, Pinkie poked her head out of the doorway, her poofy mane messier than usual as she spotted Rainbow Dash.
"Dashie? Were you sleeping outside?" she asked.
"No. Your dad threw me out of a room when he saw me and Fluttershy sleeping in the same bed." As the pegasus looked up at the Al Bhed, whose cheeks were more pink than usual as she blushed. "...We didn't do THAT! And Cid thought I was gonna get Fluttershy pregnant! That's impossible for two mares to do!"
"...Weeeeell...Actually, it is possible if a unicorn casts a little spell that gives one of them-" Rainbow quickly shoved her hoof in Pinkie's mouth.
"Did NOT want to know that!" The pegasus growled, rubbing her sore head when she smacked into the wall after being flung out by her marefriend's uncle. "I'll be on the bridge, looking around the map."
While Rainbow trudged down to the bridge, Cheese poked his head out of the same room, a red balloon stuck in his mane. "Fryd rybbahat?"
"Nothing, Cheesie," Pinkie said, taking the balloon out of his hair. "You know, you need to learn how to speak Equish so everypony can understand you, especially the author. You know how annoying it can be to go to a translator to copy/paste what he wants you to say with a made up language?"
The stallion sighed after some thought. "E paddan cdynd maynhehk, drah."
"Good for you, Cheesie!" Pinkie kissed the stallion on the cheek, then pulled out a book titled "How to Speak Equish for Dummies". "Now, get to reading while you have nothing to do. I'm off to do some more thinking."
The pink mare bounded off to meet up with Rainbow Dash on the bridge, leaving her Al Bhed coltfriend to look through the book, sighing dejectedly. "Paehk yh NPC cilgc."
Rainbow Dash blindly searched around Spira on the map as she waited for everyone else to get up. She was hoping to spend a little more time waking up with Fluttershy in bed, but, as her luck always wound up going south when things were going so well, Cid just had to be the responsible adult and kick her out of the room. After about an hour of looking around the large mass of land that was a majority of Spira, the others arrived on the bridge, as did Cid.
"Hi, Rainbow Dash." Fluttershy walked up next to the sour pegasus, nuzzling her cheek. "Sorry about...what happened. I didn't think Uncle Cid could be so..."
"Annoyingly overprotective?" Rainbow scoffed. "Can I never get a break and have some kind of fun without something ruining everything?"
"Hey!" Cid appeared between the two, pulling out a ten foot pole from behind him. He gently pushed Fluttershy back until the pole separated them by that same distance on the bridge. "This far apart is the minimum space you two should be. At all times."
The Al Bhed uncle poked Rainbow's head with the pole, further annoying the pegasus as she tried her hardest to ignore him. "Uncle Cid, don't blame Rainbow Dash. I wanted her to stay with me last night."
"No way, Flutters. I'm gonna be keeping a close eye on this tie-dyed maned hotshot." He poked her again with the pole, making Rainbow growl. "I got eyes in the back of my head."
"Will you quit poking me with that thing!?" Rainbow shouted.
Cid finally let up on his tormenting and left the pegasus alone, though he kept his eyes on her and Fluttershy getting too close. While Rainbow Dash finally had some peace as she examined Spira, she spotted something odd as she looking over a group of islands to the far east on the map. One specific island was completely different compared to the others around it, looking like something that belonged in a random circus show.
"What in tarnation is that place?" Applejack asked as she looked at the mountain island made out of cotton candy, chocolate, everything that was ever made from sugar.
"That place used to be known as the Omega Ruins several hundred years ago," Rarity said. "But, after a certain monk during that time defied the teachings, he was sentenced there to his death. That traitor's name was Discord, and as he turned into a fiend, he was far different compared to the other fiends around Spira. Some say his form turned twisted into something unlike anything anyone had ever seen, gaining powers that defied all logic and sanity. Considered unsent, but his mind is lost to the magic he had gained in his time there, which explains how twisted this island is compared to the others.
"It's strange he hasn't roamed about with what he has. My guess is that a part of him knows what he had turned into and stayed there to keep himself from hurting others, or he stays there and serves his punishment." Rarity looked over the mess of an island, the chocolate mountain spewing out globs of molasses out of a few craters, along with the same kind of purple mist that was seen back in the caverns where Yojimbo's fayth lies. "Ever since ponies spotted this strange occurrence, they changed the name to the Chaos Ruins, because of the unknown and unbelievable changes."
"I've...never heard of this," Twilight said. "Did Bevelle...hide this secret, too?"
"Yes, especially since Discord was once a monk of Bevelle. Being a monk myself, I was allowed access to certain archives, and I wandered across this information years ago." While the others watched the random changes happening, Pinkie was drooling like a waterfall at all the delectable sweets on there.
"Wait. If Discord betrayed the teachings...maybe he might have some idea how to stop Sin," Rainbow said. "There might be something in there he kept when he was alive, and his fiend is keeping it safe."
"I say yes!" Pinkie exclaimed. "My dream of an island filled to the brim with candy and sweets and goodies has come true!" The mare bounced excitedly, freezing in midair as the others gave her a look. Pinkie giggled sheepishly, floating back down to the ground. "And...maybe stop Sin too."
"Then let's head there." With the coordinates set in place, Maud steered the airship toward the Chaos Ruins.
The moment the airship dropped the mares and dragon in the entrance inside the mountain at the top, Pinkie shuddered in place as her eyes widened and sparkled. The inside of the mountain was just like the outside: the walls and ground smelling of chocolate, random assortments of sweets sticking in the walls like gemstones, stalactites made of peppermint, and cotton candy clouds floating in the endless abyss at the bottom, along with the purple miasma leaking out from the colorfully chaotic summit of sweets.
"I think I've died and gone to the Farplane," Pinkie sighed in awe. "MAKE WAY! ENDLESS GOODIES READY TO BE EATEN!"
As she was about to zoom off to eat whatever to her heart's content, Rarity grabbed a hold of her tail with her magic, dragged her back to her, and slapped her in the face. "Pinkie, don't even think about it."
"Why did you hit me?" Pinkie pouted as she rubbed her cheek.
"You'll end up dead before you stuff your stomach full of this land." The unicorn stabbed her katana through one of the hard candies embedded in the wall, pulling it out as a smoke cloud of miasma seeped out from the walls. "These lands were filled with poisonous gas that can be fatal if inhaled at close range. You eat anything here, you'll suffer and die a very painful death."
Pinkie watched in sadness as Rarity pulled off the poisonous candy from her weapon and threw it over the cliff. "...My dream is ruined..."
"Don't assume anything is good in this place. Looks can be deceiving." Though Pinkie was upset her fantasy come to life was nothing but a deathtrap, she continued with the others to see if they could find anything of Discord's belongings if he had any answers about Sin.
The fiends in here were deadly and were the only things that stood out among the bright and colorful landscape of chaos. They followed the path of chocolate, avoiding confronting some of the worst of fiends that were in the Chaos Ruins, especially the fake treasure chests known as Mimics, pretending to have hidden treasures inside to lure greedy treasure hunters and thieves. As they looked down the cliff side, they could see a large room that seemed too normal to fit in with the rest of this mountain.
While they continued walking along the only possible route to reach the end of this chaotic dungeon, none of them realized a pair of yellow eyes spying on them from the walls. Distracted by looking around at the interior of the lair of the chaotic being, the eyes floated on ahead, a low laughter echoing in the caverns as the yellow eyes peeled themselves off the walls, its body slowly appearing in the shadows of the wall it hid behind. Holding out a talon, it snapped its claws, creating a large insect-looking fiend blocking the transporter glyph.
When the party got closer, the creature snapped its talons again and disappeared. As soon as they arrived, they gasped in shock at the monstrous fiend.
"Oh great. This thing is a lot bigger than the rest!" They prepared to fight the fiend as it roared at them. Rainbow struck first, flying straight into it. But the moment her sword touched it, the massive fiend popped like a balloon, stunning the pegasus as everyone tried to figure out what just happened. "...What? Di-I...Uhh...Did we just win?"
"That wasn't Discord," Rarity said, walking over to the remains of what was supposed to be the dangerous fiend. "As I mentioned before, Discord became a different kind of fiend, not like the small delay he tried to give us to scare us away. In other words, he's a lot smarter than the mindless fiends in this place."
"Define 'smart' if he made a land filled with sweets that can KILL US!" Pinkie complained, tempted to lick the chocolaty ground beneath her.
Rarity began scrounging around the animated balloon of the "deadly" fiend, finding an oddly colored sphere that was hidden inside of it. Unlike the usual ones that were blue, this one was a mismatch of random colors, almost like an uglier version of a rainbow. Everyone gathered around it as the mare played it, a large image of a creature none of them had ever seen before appearing before them. Whatever it was, it was a huge mismatched creation, its body parts a different animal all over him, having yellow eyes with red pupils.
"Hello, everypony!...And dragon. So nice to have guests after so long!" the creature said with glee, obviously a he by the sound of its voice. "Oh, how long as it been since I've seen another pony since I've been here?" He snapped his taloned fingers, creating a calender out of thin air as the pages flipped over to thousands of different months. "Oh, that's right! Over seven hundred years! Seven centuries of loneliness finally paying off with my patience!
"I'm sure you beat my little 'minion', since he's nothing but a hot air balloon. You at least passed my test to prove you're not a coward, and I thought one of you would have been tempted to eat my land of candy delights!" The creature eyes Pinkie as he mentioned the candy, as if the recording was actually him speaking to them via the sphere.
"Big jerk making a delicious island that has deadly candy," Pinkie pouted as he leered at him.
Suddenly, the creature's bear paw reached through the sphere and honked Pinkie's nose, surprising all of them as Rarity dropped the sphere. "Now don't be like that, Pinkie Pie. I thought you were supposed to be the happiest member of the group. Why don't you turn that frown upside down?" He began turning his head around, only for it to pop off and roll all around his body, then rested back on his neck, upside down. "I loved what you did to Rainbow Dash back at the Baaj Temple! Now, if I turned her into a giant worm, then she would have really been fish bait!"
"Wait, you know us!?" Rainbow questioned.
"Of course I do! I read the script!" He made a thousand pages appear, showing the title named "Pony Fantasy X". "Lovely little reenactment, I'll say. Can't wait to see what the ending will bring. I hope he makes a sequel!"
"...What?" He made the pages disappear, confusing the group with his antics being more confusing than Pinkie's, even making the Al Bhed's randomness drown in shame.
"I might as well get to the point. Seeing as you're here in my dungeon of punishment and land of chaotic glory, yes, I am Discord." Discord made a picture of himself as a pony appear next to him, though most of his body was silhouetted and only his eyes were able to be seen. "As Rarity had pointed out back in your little airship - looks fun, by the way - I was sentenced here in this place to my death, but I just couldn't stay dead." He then changed the picture to the city of Bevelle, his gaze turning sour as it replaced his picture. "I was arrested because I betrayed the teachings...yet Bevelle has been doing this for far too long."
"You mean you knew about Bevelle using machina?" Fluttershy asked.
"And a summoner's pilgrimage. I knew all about it before you all did days ago." Discord growled as he grabbed the picture of Bevelle and tore it to shreds. "Because I did the right thing, those fascist priests being the one cause of Sin causing so much trouble in Spira. Hypocrites, every single one of them in the machina city. And Celestia...she made me sick. Known as a great summoner of her time, yet she still lived on and brought other summoners to their deaths, keeping the cycle of death going for a millennium. Thanks for killing her, by the way. Now all of Spira will be 'doomed', when it has been since the beginning."
"Then that means you know of another way to defeat Sin, right?" the summoned asked.
"...Unfortunately, no." The bad news disappointed the others, sending them back to square one. "You'll find the answers you seek when you get an idea of how Sin works. And before you think I can deal with Sin, you're insane. Only the Final Summoning can deal with that thing, but it always brings Sin back once it was beaten."
"Great," Rainbow groaned. "We thought you had something for us."
"Sorry...Although, since you are all here...I have a small, teeny-tiny favor to ask of you." Discord looked down, the ponies and dragon watching him as he seemed upset. "...I want you to end my life."
"What?" Fluttershy asked in shock.
"As much as I'm being friendly with you all, and almost got one of you killed with a poisonous chunk of candy...I'm considered unsent, and I turned into this...thing." The depressed being looked down at his mixed up body. "I was all by myself in this place, having gone made from isolation and tried to kill myself to escape from the pain...But when I woke up, I lost most of my sanity and gained these...uncontrollable powers. I couldn't leave the Omega Ruins, unable to control myself, or else risk causing more destruction that Sin had already done. I've gone mad with this chaotic power, as if Faust herself cursed me for defiling her teachings and kept me alive while turning into this!
"I have wanted to die for so long, but I can't kill myself. Anything I do to myself is only the power in me keeping me from suicide." As an example, he summoned an ax and tried to hack his head off, only for his head to leap off his neck as the blade swiped under it, attaching itself back on his shoulders. "See!? You may think I look like I'm having fun, but I'm laughing in sorrow, not enjoyment! I have lived for centuries, praying beyond all hope to have somepony strong enough to kill me and finally send my tormented soul from this infernal body of mine!
"Celestia made Spira suffer by killing summoners and one of their guardians to be the Final Summoning, but this world is already suffering enough from the constant chaos of ponies who want power, who are racist to each other and other races, and always causing a war over something stupid like a small patch of land!" Discord shouted as his frustrations grew. He buried his face in his paw and talon, greatly distressed. "...I'm waiting in my room further down...Take the transporter in front of you to reach the pathway down in the chasm...If you grant my wish, I will warn you; I will not go easy on you. I'm more dangerous than you think I am when you confront me...Please...end my suffering..."
The sphere stopped and Discord's image disappeared, the sphere disappearing with a pop. Though their lead to solving their solution to stopping Sin led nowhere, they all felt bad for the unfortunate stallion turned into the creature that he was now. He was in pain, betrayed by Bevelle as they saw him as a true traitor, and was begging for death to end his immortal torment with his madness.
"...Well, what are we gonna do?" Spike asked after a few moments of silence.
"...I think we should help him, even if Discord says he's dangerous," Fluttershy said.
Everyone nodded, agreeing with the summoner as they stepped on the transporter, sending them further down in the Chaos Ruins. They walked along the narrow stone pathway leading to the large mass of not chocolate stalactite in the center of the chasm of pink cotton candy clouds and miasma. They managed to reach where Discord was living in without any confrontations from the fiends, finding the interior of the makeshift room normal compared to the outside. It was as if keeping a part of the island as it was before altering it with his magic made him feel somewhat sane.
"So, you did come after all." In the shadows of the room, they could see Discord's mismatched yellow eyes glowing in the dark corner. "I thought you would have just left and moved on to another part of Spira, training more for the worst fight of your lives where it wasn't Sin."
"Discord, we're here to help you," Fluttershy said as she stepped forward. "We heeded your warning, and we won't hold back on you either. When you're unable to fight any longer and fall, I will send you to the Farplane and ease you of your suffering."
"...Heh...You're too kind, Fluttershy," he said. "Even with something as powerful as I am, you won't back down from helping those in need..." Discord stepped out of the shadows, revealing his mismatched body in all its chaotic glory. He looked relieved, though he seemed unsure if they would be strong enough to slay him. "I did warn you...No turning back now."
Everyone pulled out their weapons as they surrounded Discord, ready to help him and send him to the Farplane. "We've faced worse, Discord...And if we can beat you, then we may have a chance of beating Sin, once and for all."
"...We'll see." Discord closed his eyes and breathed out a sigh, opening his eyes as a powerful aura burst out from his body, unleashing his full power.
It was far more overwhelming than anything Sin had done when it attacked during Operation Mi'ihen, and this fight would be more intense than any other they had faced, even against Celestia. Rainbow acted first, flying toward him with her sword ready to slash through him, but as the pegasus was mere inches away, she was immediately held back by an invisible force, keeping her immobile.
Discord turned to face the bound mare, his talon reaching out to her forehead. He gave a light flick and sent Rainbow Dash flying into the wall at breakneck speed, creating an imprint of her crashed body in the wall. Before she was able to even utter anything out of pain, Discord curled his talons in a fist, grabbing the pegasus and sending her flying across the room into the opposite end of the room.
Before he could toss her any further, Pinkie leapt in an tossed a flash grenade in his face, blinding Discord as he flailed about, creating cotton candy clouds in the room. Some of the party managed to avoid them, not knowing what they could do, while a couple, like Twilight and Applejack, ended up getting stuck to the sticky surfaces.
"Hey! Ah can't move!" Applejack shouted as she struggled to break out of the sticky cloud.
"Me neither!" Twilight said, quickly casting a spell to try to get rid of the annoying fluffy clouds.
Fluttershy healed Rainbow Dash from the bone shattering slams into the wall, though she tried to avoid the clouds that got in her way. Pinkie, Rarity, and Spike lunged in, the latter two slashing through the clouds and attacked the blinded unsent, getting a few hits on him with their weapons. As soon as he was able to see, Discord shoved his attackers off him with his telekinesis, sending them into a free cloud and trapping them. He began moving the clouds around the room, sending them all spiraling out of control as they formed together to make a bigger cloud above him.
Discord's arms began glowing as he began morphing the clouds. They began to implode against the constricted mares and dragon, creating a miniature supernova that was far powerful than any spell anyone had ever lived through. They were all sent flying across the room, greatly injured, but miraculously still alive. Fluttershy was the first to stand up, struggling to stay standing as she saw the pain in Discord's face. They weren't dead because he was trying to hold himself back on purpose, not letting the chaotic power in him to end what he wanted for so long.
The pegasus stood on her hind legs as she transferred her Overdrive energy to one of her aeons, more specifically, her newest received aeon. The hook shot down from a void in the sky and dug itself in the ground in front of Discord. Anima began to rise up from the void that appeared, lifted up from the depths it came from as it screeched.
"...This is new," Discord uttered. Before he could attack this new aeon, a void opened up underneath him as he was sucked down into the ground. He floated around in the strange red and black blurry void, seeing the underside of Anima that was hidden under the ground. Her "legs" began moving, but they weren't legs. It was actually another upper body, more horrifying than the bandaged upper head, looking at its prey with its arms bound by chains. It screeched as it broke free of its bonds, and as much as Discord tried to snap his talons to teleport away, he was trapped. "Oh boy...This is gonna hurt."
Indeed it would as the terrifying bottom half began punching him hard. Its punches increased in speed until its arms were nothing but a blur, each blow causing an explosion that was more powerful than the last. After it felt like it did enough damage with just its fists alone, the bottom head roaring as it created a massive orb of energy around Discord, the air around him growing in pressure as it imploded into a massive explosion, sending him back out of the realm in a crumbled, scorched heap.
He wasn't down yet, getting back up on his feet, his legs shaking as he tried to stay standing. Glaring at the powerful aeon, he thrust his paw at Anima, surrounding her in an Ultima spell, the magic imploding around her as it instantly defeated the aeon. With Discord on his last legs, Fluttershy needed to deal the finishing blow, the others far too injured from the powerful supernova he unleashed.
Light magic began to build in her hooves as she focused all of her power into a magical attack. "This will be over soon."
Thrusting her hooves forward, a large sphere of holy light surrounded Discord, and instead of healing, it actually hurt him. He let out a scream of anguish as the light injured him, the light pushing him hard against the wall as it disappeared. As soon as his back slammed into the wall, the unsent being collapsed to the ground, spirits beginning to fly out of his overly-injured body.
Seeing Discord was no longer able to fight anymore, Fluttershy healed herself and the others with her white magic, healing their injuries. She and the rest of her guardians approached the prone creature, slowly opening his eyes, unable to move as he groaned in pain. Rarity had backed away, wanting to stay far enough away from Fluttershy as she performed the sending. As the pegasus danced, spirits flew out from Discord as his body began to shift, his variety of animal ligaments and limbs disappearing as he turned back into a normal stallion, his coat a grayish brown like his face and his mane and goatee a grayed white.
When he opened his eyes again as he began to fade away, the sclera of his eyes now white and his pupils yellow, he gave Fluttershy a relieved smile. "Thank you..." he whispered as he closed his eyes for the last time.
Discord was finally freed from his torment, the stallion finally resting in the Farplane. Rarity looked outside of the entrance to the stalactite room, watching in awe as the chaotic mess of deadly sweets and the scent of chocolate and sugary delights disappeared, bringing the ruins and the entire island back to normal as Discord's chaotic power disappeared along with him. Now the mountain was dark and dreary, a place no one should ever go into, even by a stupid dare.
Fluttershy looked up at the ceiling of the room, watching the last of Discord's spirit peacefully sent to the Farplane. "You're welcome, Discord. Rest in peace," she uttered to the now sent stallion.
The Chaos Ruins, now returning as the Omega Ruins, were free from the chaotic magic. The group headed back through the caverns and returned to the airship, having helped a victim of Bevelle's deceitful ways and curing him of his immortal torture. Though they had many questions about Bevelle from Discord calling it a machina city. How long had the "holy" city been using machina when they were supposed to not use them when Sin came around? What was the point of staying true to the teachings when Bevelle had been lying to all of Spira of what lies inside? Why banish someone who was only trying to do the right thing after being lied to and have them suffer a life living in insanity and anguish in a dangerous location?
