This Isn't What I Had In Mind.
Chapter 3: Chpt 3.
Previous Chapter Next ChapterI was frozen in fear. Apparently, I didn’t go to Whitetail Woods, I accidentally went in the Everfree. How does one even make a mistake that dire? And there was a dragon right in front of me. I knew the best thing to do was stand still and hope it thinks I’m a tree or a rock. Thankfully it was nighttime and this was the Everfree after all, so it was already dark. And along with my black chitin, it made it almost impossible for anyone or anything to see me.
-
“What’s it doing?” Rainbow asked Pinkie as they were watching Paladin.
“Not it, he. And I don’t know.” Pinkie replied.
“Wait, how do you know it’s a he anyway.” Rainbow questioned.
“Eh, just a hunch.” Pinkie answered.
Rainbow just rolled her eyes. They didn’t see the dragon as Paladin did, and they didn’t know why he was just standing there. But then they suddenly heard a loud roar.
“RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR!” The easily noticeable rawr of a dragon. When they finally got their ears to stop ringing, they looked back to where Paladin was standing, and he was still there, and he was ready to fight.
-
“I really didn’t wish it had to come to this, Mr. Dragon, but you leave me no choice.” I said as it began to launch its head forward. I activated my molecular reinforcement spell… what? I made a spell. I put on a deadpan stare as its head came down on me.
CRACK!
I was completely unharmed, my magically reinforced chitin holding up like Titanium. Its teeth were almost completely shattered, though. It still hadn’t moved his head back up, so that’s when I decided to make my move. I grabbed Its tongue with my magic and stabbed it with molecules of air held strongly together with magic. I knew that would make it scream, so I put soundproof bubbles around my ears. Sure enough, I could feel the vibrations all through out my body.
It started to lift its head up, now’s my chance for escape. I moved all of the broken tooth bits out of the way with my magic so they don’t scratch me. The dragon was now at its full height. It opened its mouth to, I assume, spew fire in my general direction. I quickly flew up, its head locked on me. I could see its throat glowing, so I started flying above and around it.
It finally started the flames up, trying to hit me with the flames. It wasn’t hard to avoid, as the dragon was too stupid to realize it was shooting at me when it should be firing ahead of me.
“A little more fun, then I’ll finish this fight.” I stated as I started to do tricks in the air, sometimes going under him just to confuse him. I then started to make faces as if I’m taunting it. That made it really mad, to which I responded by mocking him even further.
“IT’S ANGRY! IT’S ANGRY!” I screamed as I flew in vertical circles in the air. I was on the verge of tears, barely able to contain my amusement. It started firing in the middle of the circle. The flames finally caught up to me. I started coughing, while the dragon just smirked.
Through coughs, I said. “Alright then, *cough* I guess *cough* it’s time *cough* to end *cough* this!” I waited for it to get closer, when it did, I shot off into the sky. The dragon just looked up, confused at my actions.
Little did it know, I was planning on coming back down, just not to play. It was time to end this little quarrel. Ever since my little escape from Fluttermaniac, I’ve been practicing my flight, and I’ve gotten a lot faster.
When I came to a stop, I wasn’t sure If I was even in the lower atmosphere anymore. I took one look at Equis, and closed my eyes. I focused on the point of impact, necessary speed, and proper angle. When I got done with those calculations, I opened my eyes, still buzzing my wings, I looked down to the Everfree. I tilted downwards for less air resistance, and then I sped forwards. I started gaining speed quickly, I had to blink rapidly to keep my eyes from drying out. I passed the cloud layer, going straight through one cloud. I didn’t hear any boom when I passed the sound barrier, but I could see the black ring behind me. I decided a rainbow colored nuke cloud would look cooler than a black one, so I changed into a Rainbow Dash copy, and I could see a rainbow colored trail behind me. Mach one wasn’t fast enough, though, so I used my pegasus magic to keep flying at this speed, and again used magic to move the air molecules in front of me out of the way, while the molecules at the back would propel me even faster due to the vacuum in front of me. With all these factors, I was finally able to pass mach three, fast enough for this amount of mass, and with the assistance of a bit of explosive multiplier magic, this would easily be able to end this little, simple, unnecessary quarrel.
“Tick... tick…”
BOOOOOOOM!
Let’s just say there was no more dragon after that, take that anyway you want.
-
“Where’s he going?” Rainbow again began the questioning.
“How am I supposed to know?” Pinkie counter-questioned.
“I don’t know, can’t you use your Pinkie sense?” Rainbow counter-counter-questioned.
Just then, Pinkie’s tail started to twitch.
“Rainbow…” Pinkie said in a very worried kind of voice.
“Did you find out where he went?”
“I did, and I think we should leave, like right now.”
“Wha? Why?”
Pinkie grabbed Rainbow’s face in her hooves. “Leave. Now.” She said in a ‘you better damn listen or you gonna die bitch’ voice.
“O-ok.” Rainbow picked Pinkie up and sped off back towards Ponyville.
-
“... and then Pinkie’s tail started twitching and she demanded that we left.”
Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 besides Pinkie and Rainbow had their mouths agape in shock of what they just heard. After the massive blue light somewhere in the Everfree and the resulting shockwave, Twilight summoned the Elements of Harmony in case of a threat. She didn’t know how to deal with a changeling with that much destructive capability, neither did her friends. While there was next to no damage or any injured, if that kind of thing happened in the middle of town, let’s just say there wouldn’t be a town left.
Just then Spike burped up a letter. Twilight took it in her magic, undid the ribbon, unscrolled the scroll, and began reading the letter aloud.
“Dear Princess Twilight Sparkle,
I’m sure you have many questions about what happened over the Everfree, I'm afraid I don’t have the answers to many of those questions. My guards have investigated the scene. We have found nothing other than a large crater. We would like you to personally investigate the scene and attempt to find anything more of use.”
Twilight reread the letter twice to make sure she didn’t miss anything.
“Spike. Take a letter.” Spike immediately found a scroll and quill and stood at attention, ready to write her message.
“Dear Princess Celestia…”
-
“I am never doing that again.” I stated as I started to get up. I looked around for the dragon, nowhere to be seen. Must of disintegrated it. I started to try and fly, but I found that that little stunt took more out of me than I thought. I looked off towards Canterlot, and, for what, like, the 7th time? I almost had a heart attack. There were a bunch of Royal Guards coming my way.
“Shit, I need to hide.” I scrambled to under some debris of the unfortunate trees that happened to be in the immediate vicinity. I knew the guards were idiots, but one lucky guard could notice me.
-
“Search the area. We’ve got to find him.”
“Yes sir, Prince Armor.”
"Who exactly are we looking for?" questioned a guard.
"You'll know him when you see him," Shinning replied.
The guards continued searching through the crater, and after finding nothing, returned to Shining Armor.
“Sir, we couldn’t find anything.” Said one guard.
“Very well, you return to Canterlot to notify the princesses of this, I'll return to Princess Cadence .” Shining Armor replied.
-
“Whew, that was too close. But shouldn't Shinning Armor be in the Crystal Empire? Why would he be here?” I said getting up from my temporary hideout. I looked around the blast site. I just now got a good enough look to realize what kind of destruction I caused. “I did that?” I was shocked at the size of the crater. It was at least 300 feet across! And probably around 50 feet deep. And I was at the bottom. “Well, better get going.” I started for the edge of the crater. I then started to think to myself, ‘I haven’t even slept since I came here, and I’m tired as fuck.’ I started to try and fly again, and, unlike last time, I actually took off, but it was pretty shaky as I haven’t slept yet. I then headed off towards Whitetail Woods, this time making sure I don’t go the wrong way.
Author's Notes:
So, the fight with the kidnappers in the last chapter was a little (a lot) on the short side, but that was sort of intentional, as I wanted to emphasize how the main character fights. Fast and determined when serous, and slow and playful when only he is in danger.
But another reason it was so short, is because I'm a terrible writer, and don't ever forget that.
