Author's Notes:

Sorry I've been gone for like 3 days. I've been kinda busy with school and sports, and I've also been going through some personal stuff for a while, and it really caught up to me recently.

Hopefully I didn't delay too long.

"Who bailed Jack out of prison?" I ask in a serious tone as I lean against the large desk in front of me. Alex, Twilight, and Applejack stand behind me, watching curiously. Twilight rubs her right foreleg with her left, and it is totally my fault. I lost it after Alex gave me the news over the phone, and I attacked her out of anger. Thank God I was only able to land one blow on her before she caught me in her magic. I spent the entire ride over here apologizing.

"All we have on record is some guy named Greg Thomas. Know him?" The officer says as he hands me a record that shows who bailed Jack out of jail.

"Can't say I do..." I mumble as I rub my forehead and place the record back on the officer's desk. "Thanks anyway..." I sigh and walk past my friends, making my way back into the parking lot in front of the police station.

"Matt! Hey, wait up." Twilight runs up next to me as Alex and Applejack split away towards their car.

"What Twilight?" I say, somewhat annoyed and angry. I don't even look down at her as I continue walking towards my truck with my hands in my pockets.

"Just... sorry."

"Sorry? For what? I should be sorry Twilight, I hit fucking hit you for no reason."

"What? No, not that. I mean I'm sorry that this is happening to you. I can't even imagine..." Twilight sighs and looks down at the ground, obviously somewhat upset. I'm actually glad she is, it shows that she really does care.

"Oh, yeah... It really does suck. I'm so glad you guys were here for Rainbow and I. I don't even know what we'd do without all of you."

"Glad to hear that Matt, I really am."

*Rainbow*

"Rainbow, please slow down! I-I can't keep up like this!" Fluttershy yells behind me. I grunt and come to a stop so she can catch up.

"C'mon Fluttershy! I can't just fly around at the speed of a snail and expect to find my daughter and boyfriend's sister!"

"Tha-That doesn't mean I can go as fast as you! Please just slow down and take a break. You really need one, you look awful. No offense."

"What? What is that supposed to mean!?"

"Your mane is going in every direction, your eyes are bloodshot, your feathers are ruffled, and you're just so... angry." She says to me firmly. I sigh and look at the ground below us before gliding over to the top of a building.

"I'm sorry Flutteryshy... I'm a real mess, I know that, but I just can't stop worrying. I have to be angry or else I'll just... start to..." I start to choke on my words as I feel something warm running down the front of my face. I taste something salty as tears begin seeping into my muzzle.

"Oh, Rainbow!" Fluttershy hugs me from the side. We sit the on the building, me crying like a foal, and Fluttershy holding me like one. I'm such a useless, weak idiot. I can't even find my own daughter!

"D-Damn... it." I say oh so quietly as I punch the roof as hard as I can with a hoof. I try not to swear, but when you live with Matt, well, it slips out at times like these.

"Shhh, calm down Rainbow."

"I'm such a failure... I-I can't even do anything without Matt. I need him to find Star, he has to do it Fluttershy!" I yell at her as I stare into her eyes. I see many things, compassion, fear, sadness, you name it.

"You aren't a failure. You're THE Rainbow Dash, fastest flyer in Equestria, Element of Loyalty, best marefriend a guy could ask for! Matt needs you right now Rainbow, you can't give up like this."

"Wow, I never expected something so... I just didn't expect something like that from you Fluttershy."

"Oh, was it too much?"

"Nah, you're cool. C'mon... lets start searching again."

*Matt*

"So, Twilight, I think we could both really use a break." I say as I pull into a parking lot. "How about some lunch?"

"That sounds amazing!" Twilight says as she basically claps her hooves together. "I've been wondering what human cuisine was like!"

"Well, you're gonna like this place. I went on my first, but unofficial date, here with Rainbow. We weren't exactly going out at the time, but we were here alone, so I guess it counts."

"Well, lets head into... Uncle Luigi's?" She says as she squints to read the sign on the outside of the cafe.

"Yep, my home away from home!"

"I thought Equestria was your home away from home. You did stay there for two months last summer."

"Okay then, my third home." I say with a chuckle as we walk inside. We sit down at a booth and order our drinks.

"This isn't a date right?" Twilight says as she sips on her drink.

"What? No way! I'd never cheat on Rainbow."

"I'm just pullin' your chain Matt. Gotcha though!" We both laugh lightly as we wait for the pizza to come.

"Alright, so, I know we're supposed to be taking a break, but I've been thinking..."

"Yeah?"

"Well, what if we aren't looking in the correct spots?"

"What do you mean by that? We have the entire city under surveillance. What is there to miss?"

"No, that's not what I mean. I know that we're searching the entirety of Jacksonville, but that's just my point. What I'm saying is, what if they aren't in the city at all?"

"Like... another city?"

"Not necessarily... I know this warehouse, about fifty miles from here. I was held there by the same gang that took Emily and Star. I'd bet my life that we might at least find a clue there, if not Star and Emily themselves."

"So, we've been looking the wrong place all along?"

"Maybe, maybe not. The point is, it couldn't hurt to check. I say we all get together tomorrow and head out there to check it out. I can hold all of us in the truck, although some will have to sit in the bed in the back. The eight of us will head north and try to find that warehouse again."

"That... actually doesn't sound like that bad of a plan. I say we do it." Twilight says with a confident smile as our pizza comes. We eat in silence, only exchanging a few words throughout lunch. We're both probably too busy thinking about what to do.

"Alright, guess we should go find the others." I say as I wipe my hands off and drop some money on the table.

"Yeah, lets head out." I help Twilight out of her seat, and we walk towards the door, waving at the owner as we do so.

"So, I guess we should-" I get cut off by the sounds of sirens and tires screeching.

"Whoa, what the-" Twilight says before a bunch of people begin running at us.

"Are those... policemen?" I say quietly.

"GET ON THE GROUND!" They yell, pointing guns at me, and even at Twilight. I don't argue, even though I have no idea what is going on. I drop to my knees and place my hands behind my head, sweat already dripping down my face.

"Matthew Green, you are under arrest!"
