The Blood
Chapter 1: Ch.1
Ponies have been going missing lately, some say they have been seen going into the Everfree Forest at night.
Why anypony would willing enter that Celestia forsaken place is beyond me.
The mayor has gotten worried over these disapperances and has setup a search party.
I arrived at the edge of the forest as the mayor begin to explain the details of the search.
"Alright Everypony we are to split up into teams, every team is to be lead by a unicorn so that if you
find anything you can send a magical flare up to the pegasus team that will be scouting above the tree line
We are not sure what has happened to the ponys that were spotted going into the forest so if you run into any
danger I want you to leave immediately."
It took awhile for the mayor to arrange the teams it seems like she did not take into account that not all
unicorns would be able to cast the flare spell needed to signel the pagusi that would be scouting in the sky.
Luckily there were enough that could cast it well enought that we would be able to adequately search the area.
"Twilight, what do you reckon caused these here ponys to dissapear? I mean I would never go into the Everfree
without a good darn reason, and in the middle of winter it's just asking for trouble."
"I don't know Applejack. A pony would have to be crazy to go into the forest alone. Anyways where is Bon-Bon
she is our third."
"I think that's her over there Twilight." Applejack points off in the distince to another group of ponys.
Applejack and I start to trot over to them when Bon-Bon turns around towards us.
"Sorry Twilight, sorry Applejack. I just wanted to stay with Lyra a little while longer before we headed out."
"It's okay Bon-Bon we understand." I replyed "Just let us know when you are ready to head out."
Bon-Bon turns back towards Lyra's group giving her a final hug and wispering something I cannot make
out in her ear before turning back towards us and telling us she is ready to go.
We enter the dark forest with me taking point Bon-Bon is next in line and Applejack takes the rear.
The snow is deep almost up to our knees making our progress slow. A cool wind had begun to blow through the
forest, the trees offering little in the way of protection. In the distance I can hear the howling of what must
a pack of canis minors in the distance. I feel a tap behing me and nearly jump but I remember that Bon-Bon is
behind me so I stop and turn to face her.
"What is it Bon-Bon, did you see something?" I inquire.
"No its just that howling, do you think that the others are okay? I could not deal with it if something ever
happened to Lyra." She replied.
I could see the fear in her navy blue eyes. She must really care for that mare. I try to think of someway to
reassure her but I find myself at a loss for words. We stand there for several minuts before my thoughts are
interrupted by a second howl this one seems quiter.
"Sounds like they are getting further away. Don't worry Bon-Bon I'm sure the other are fine, right applejack."
"Ya I recon they are doing just fine, after all they have Big Mac with em. If anypony can keep them safe its him."
This seems to reassure the concerned mare and with renewed vigor we continue further into the forest.
After what seems like hours without any clues as to what has happened Applejack points beyond a tree to the right
of us.
"Hey Twilight, there are some hoofprints in the snow over there by that tree."
I begin to draw magic into my horn to give us a better view of the area. A bright light begins to surround my horn
with the spell nearly blinding me due to how close it is to my eyes I decide it best to root the spell to the tree
that Applejack had pointed out. As the magic flows out from my horn and into the tree it begins to glow in the
darkness and gives us a much better view of the area.
As we approch the hoofprints in the snow we notice they seem to be heading up and over a hill about 20 meters to
the south. The light spell I had cast does not reach the top of the hill so I bring it back into my horn, dimming
it this time to avoid blinding myself. As we reach the crest of the hill the light of my horn revals i shadowy
figure colapsed in the snow. I hear Bon-Bon gasp as she sees the brow body against the pure white snow.
I fire my light spell at a nearby tree as I begin to draw forth more magic in order to send up the signel flare.
As I weave the magic within me into the proper spell Applejack and Bon-Bon rush down the hill towards the body.
Finally finished with the spell I launch a white ball of magic into the as soon as it leaves my horn it begins
flashing between red and white ever few seconds.
"Hey Twilight," Applejack yells up to me "he's not breathing. Celestia no, I think he's dead."
I rush down the hill after them and as I reach the body I once again begin to draw magic into my horn.
A pale green light begins to form around the colts body. I study what my magic tells me for a moment before
dropping the spell and collapsing to the ground.
"What happened to him?" Bon-Bon asks me as she tries to stiffle tears.
"There is nothing we can do." I reply defeated "There is no blood, its gone all of it."
I'm not sure how long a lied there in the pure white snow before Rainbowdash and part of here team arrived.
They took the body on a strecher and flew off towards Ponyville.
Applejack Bon-Bon and I started to head back out of the forest. No words were spoken between us as we headed home.
I do not want to deal with what I found tonight.
