Evil always finds a way

Ah! Welcome fellow readers, please, let me introduce myself: I am Gnarl, Minion Master and devoted Servant of Darkness. This is the tale of my old master and his daughter, Starlight-

GNARL!!! What are you doing!?

Oh, apologies, I was just telling the tale of how the old Master took you in as his daughter, Master Glimmer.

...Are they listening right now?

Of course, this device is helping me spread your word to-

Bow down to me or else my brother and I will plunder & loot your village, kill your family & friends, and torture you for our pleasure!!!

...Effective, Master, but, yelling won't make them cower in fear just yet. Please, let me tell your tale, back when you were a... adorable filly. Ech!

...Fine. If you need to fine me, I'll be snacking on those annoying gnomes' magic. Such tasty things, if you ask me.

Yes, yes, have your fun, Master. This is the tale of our old Master, the Overlord, and our Starlight Glimmer, back when she was... cute. Ugh, just remembering her that young makes me want to swim in dung to forget that sappiness.

It took my minions and myself a while to find him, but we found our new Overlord! Truth be told, I forgot what he looked liked, what with him always wearing armor we make for him, but he was tall, muscular, and anyone who saw his glowing eyes cowered in fear. The tower we minions lived with... I won't lie, it was filthy, much filthier than usual, but it was a setback as we'd reestablish the place as the fortress of darkness. I had told the master that the first order of business was to find the source of our tower's energy, The Tower Heart. Unimaginable? Yes, but it was much better than 'Huge Glowing Orb Thing'. Anyways, we had just a bit of energy to send all of us to the Tower Heart's last location: the fields of Spree. And that is where we meet her, our Glimmer of Evil.

The Overlord landed in the fields of Spree, where Gnarl was waiting for him.

"Ah, you made it through the gates, Sire!" He greeted with a cackle. "This Tranquil wilderness... so rural and Idyllic. Hideous isn't it? Try not to Inhale it, my lord. You can summon minions through these gates." He gestured to the brown glowing hole net to him. "Currently, you can only summon browns. You must find the other lost Minion Tribes before you can summon them." The Overlord nodded, raising his armored left hand up as he held his Ax with the left, non armored hand. Three minions came out and followed the Overlord. The Overlord, his minions, and Gnarl went into the field, hearing and sheep bleating as they pranced around. While the sheep were prancing and eating the grass around them, one thing in particular stood out: it was about as tall as a minion, was equine looking, had a pink coat, a horn popped out of it's forehead, and it's purple with an aquamarine stripe mane looked like it had devil horns, both tied by an individual blue ribbon. The creature ate the grass with the sheep, but turned to see the Overlord and the others, unlike the sheep who ignored them.

"Gah! What is that!?" Gnarl yelled in disgust. "It's small and cute... revolting! Slay it, Master! Take it's Life force away!" The Overlord pointed at the equine creature, sending one of his minions at it. The minion charged at the Equine, ready to smite it! Said Equine noticed the minion, stood up, and cheered, tackling the minion, giggling as it hugged the minion.

"Yo' Funny." It spoke in a young, girl voice. Her horn glowed a turquoise, surrounding it and the minion she hugged. The minion turned a darker shade, followed by a-

CRACK!!!

The minion's spine broke from it's hug, killing it easily. The Equine looked surprised, but giggled.

"Oopsie!"

"Sire! It killed one of the minions!" Gnarl exclaimed "Quick! Slay it before it gets powerful!" The Overlord stood there for a few moments, but walked to the Equine, stopping just a few feet from it. The Equine looked up to the Overlord, ears flattened for a bit, but perked up, raising her front hooves up as if it wanted a hug!

"Dada!" The Overlord stood there for a few moments. It showed no fear to him (though, he is new and unheard of), was able to talk, and killed one of his minions easily with both a spell and a hug. He Leaned down and picked the Equine up as it let out a 'whee!', followed by a giggle. He placed the Equine on his shoulder, the filly hold on, hugging the side of his helmet "I wuv you, daddy!"

"Sire! You can't be serious! That thing isn't properly evil! It's-" Gnarl froze in fear as the Overlord turned to him. The Overlord's eyes burned with hellfire, and Gnarl could see the Overlord's fury just by the intense glowing pupils. Starlight giggled.

"Uh-oh! You'we in twoubwe!" The Overlord stomped to Gnarl, Ax ready in his right hand.

"B-b-but... We... can make... an exception... for... her." The Overlord stomped marching, stopping in his tracks. He crossed his arms. "It's your choice, master, if you want to... keep her, then you shall. All the minions will know not to harm her. Just don't let her kill anymore minions, sire." The Overlord nodded as Starlight giggled again, climbing his helmet and sitting with the horns around her. She danged in front of his face.

"Aw we gonna make mowe fwiends, daddy?" He nodded. "Yay! More Fwiends!" The Overlord walked to the minion spawn point, summoning the rest of the five minions he could only summon. Without saying anything, the Overlord commanded the minions to push the pillar blocking their way to the Tower Heart. Passing the pillar, they saw a farmer tied up like a scarecrow near a pumpkin farm.

"Help!" He yelled "Halflings took over my farm! They tied me up in the sun to scare the birds! Now, those pumpinks are plotting against poor Bob. They want revenge for all the pies I made... and the soup... and the jelly... and the, er... Ice Cream. I hear the pumpkins whisper in the night, but I won't leave my farm to the Halflings, oh no! They're worse than the pumpkins! Please help get Bob's farm back."

"Anything fo' a fwiend!"

"Gah! What is that thing!? It ain't related to a pumpkin, now is it?"

"I'm Stawwight Gwimmah!"

"Even both her name and the way she pronounces it is too much to handle!" Gnarl moaned, walking away "I need to sit in a dark place... and pumble something. Keep her away from me!"

Of course, as she got older, her adorableness is nothing more of a weapon used against her enemies, especially when she crushed their skulls in beneath her hooves! But, let's get back to the then before the now.

The Overlord pointed to the pumpkins, and the minions charged ahead, smashing away.

"Smash!" Starlight yelled, jumping off her father's head and rammed towards a small pumpkin. Her horn got stuck in it, and she rammed in circles. "Hewp! A pumpkin's attacking me!" A lone minion pulled the pumpkin off, and placed it over his head. Starlight giggled, seeing how ridiculous it was for some of the minions to now wear pumpkins over their heads. She turned to her father, but cowered as her father's arms were crossed as he impatiently stomped his right foot. She walked to him, and he picked her up, placing her on his shoulder again. The minions entered the farmhouse, destroying everything inside and killing the Halflings inside.

"Whoo Hoo! That showed 'im!" Bob cheered "Oh, you better get going, Sonny. Now, the path behind my house leads to the village of Spree. Oh I bet there are more of them fat little demons about, so be careful."

"We wiww! What wiww you do?"

"Me? Well, I think I'll stay here, fix my farm. Maybe grow some marrows instead. Yeah, marrows don't talk so much."

"You'we siwwy." They traveled ahead and saw the Tower Heart in the middle of a pumpkin patch. "Ooh! Shiny! Smashy time, fwiends!" The minions bashed the pumpkins clear, then lifted the Tower Heart together. They traveled ahead, finding a shortcut leading to the stone formation tower gate, leading back to the Overlord's temple, but it was blocked by a wall. Overlord looked at his ax, and swung it at the wall, knocking it down. "You'we stwong, daddy." He nodded in response. They followed the minions to the tower gate, dropping the tower heart at the stony formation, to which it was transported back to the temple. "Where'd it go? Daddy? Where'd the gwowey thing go?" He entered the portal with Starlight, a ray of magic surrounded the two, taking them away!

Starlight and her father returned to the castle. The filly looked around, seeing the place was, though huge, very dirty looking and needed some reconstrucion. Behind them, the Tower Heart was hovering above a circle of water, glowing brightly. They saw Gnarl beating up a jester looking minion in a corner, and Starlight laughed at the comical sight. Gnarl turned to the two and walked to them.

"Ah! You're back, sire!" he spoke, then saw Starlight "And you brought your pet-" The Overlord peeked down, letting out a low but threatening growl. "Er, I mean... daughter... back. Well Master, the Tower Heart is back where it belongs. This is the heart of the Tower, sire; it will play a virtual role in helping re-establish your dark domain." The tower heart sank into the water slowly until it was gone from sight. "It will allow you to visit the tower whenever you wish and provide access to all of the Tower's resources. And look, it seems to bestow a gift upon you, sire!" Both Starlight and the Overlord turned around, seeing a small totem behind the throne. "You can now control 10 minions!"

"Why couwdn't he do that befowe?" Starlight asked

"Uh... Well... it's complicated, but the master needs these pillars to-"

"But I wike my new fwiends. They wisten to me whenever I teww them what to do."

"...Right. Master, it seems you've also retained one of it's spells; the Fireball!"

"You mean this?" Her horn glowed and she fired a ball of fire at Gnarl. Gnarl quickly ran out of the way, barely dodging the unexpected firespell from the filly!

"Hey! Only the Master should know how to use that!" The Overlord let out a deep, but loud, bellowing laugh. "Eh... If that makes you laugh, but please, use it on the Jester. Master, I urge you to find more of our missing tower objects. A crane would be particularly handy; clear the heavy debris here, open us some more rooms."

"Wiww I get my own woom, Daddy!?"

"Ugh! Please! Keep her away from me!" Gnarl walked away, down to the basement "I shall stay here; the heart will allow me to speak to you directly to you, sire, see & hear what you do, and not be as affected by your... daughter. Ugh... GET OVER HERE, GIBLET!" Alone, The Overlord quickly kicked the Jester out of the way, making Starlight laugh again. He took his seat on the throne, took Starlight off his shoulder, and onto his lap. Dropping his ax, he began to stroke behind Starlight's left ear, causing her to giggle again. He hated to admit, but she was too damn cute to slay, and with the spell she used to kill that lone minion, she was filled with so much evil potential. Starlight Glimmer... it sounded innocent, but he knew that, with the proper training, ruthlessness, and Carnage, her name would make children have nightmare as well as make any of the bravest men scream for their mothers. Plus, if they don't cower, and instead fall for her looks, she could easily slaughter them easily and/or make her their slave. Either way, she truly was Evil's Glimmer, and this was just the beginning of her story. After all, Evil will always find a way. Next Chapter: Rescuing friends Estimated time remaining: 26 Minutes
