A year after their arrival, Snow had abruptly stopped sending him letters for a few months, which Kevin didn't really notice due to the intense training until Shield asked, this caused Kevin to spend his next break heading to Vanhoover with his three Best friends to discover Snow with a foal and another partner, the revelation worsened when the four recruits attempted to leave only to be confronted by Snow, who tried to apologise and beg for his forgiveness which simply led to Kevin dropping the locket he got from her onto the snowy ground and leaving.

      So the training had finished, they were all about to graduate and start their new lives as guards, they would select their desired city to work in after the first week. Kevin was slipping in his armour and light blue cloth over his left Pauldron before attaching the sword he had gotten from his father, said sword had been repaired in several occasions. After checking the straps, he grabbed the small gold and red medallion from his wardrobe that signified him being one if the eight team leaders, "blue team for the win" he chuckled as he attached the medallion and grabbed his custom helmet, as human heads didn't fit in helmets for ponies, his helmet was coupled with a blue crest and a visor, the crest also a bonus for being team leader and the Visor as you could select between the two when you were given your armour the week before.

      After checking himself and clipping the helmet to a hook on his belt, Kevin left the room to find Shining, Shield, and Fleur all were standing outside the room in similar armour save for the helmet. "Took you long enough" Fleur stated with a smirk, she had lost alot of her chubbyness, which was replaced with muscle but she still appeared lean.

      "Well maybe if you did use all the hot water, I would have been faster" he said as she smirked as they began walking. "So you guys decided where your gonna be stationed?" He asked.

       "Canterlot" Shining said without hesitation.

        "Is that so you can gawk at the princess of love all day?" Asked Shield as Shining turned bright pink.

         "Nooooo....... I also want to see my family" he said making the three laugh.

          "How about you two?" Kevin asked.

         "Well we thought it be best to follow you as your like family" Fleur said as Shield nodded.

          "Hey I'll be sure to visit" Shining said smiling.

           "Okay cool, well we better look fancy" he said as they arrived at the door moments before slipping on their helmets, when they walked out, they were greated by a large amount of family of the recruits but something was off, and it was nagging at Kevin as he got into position and through out the ceremony 'where is my family?' He thought as the Sergeant called out names of the team members and gave them their crest to show them being a Private. When he was finished he called each of the team leaders forward, the 8 moved forward and into a line at attention.

      The Sergeant went from each and gave them a Crest signifying their new rank as Corporal before he turned to the crowd and gave a speech but Kevin wasn't paying attention as his eyes scanned the crowd through his Visor and still failed to find see his family.

       After an hour the Ceremony was over and all the newly promoted guard were packed and leaving with their Family, saved for Shield, Shining, Fleur and Kevin who were being introduced to Shining's family, his mother and father were nice but Kevin nearly tore off his own ears from his little sister's ramblings, it was distracting him as he was trying to think. "Hey Shining, I'm gonna head back to Ponyville, I'll see you on a couple of days okay?" He asked as Shining gave the thumbs up before Kevin left with Shield and Fleur.

(Two days later)

       "Why did the train have to be broken" Shield complained as Fleur and Kevin chuckled as they entered the small town of Ponyville, it had taken them two days to walk from the training camp to Ponyville thanks to the train being damaged.

      "It could be worse" Kevin said as they walked through the busy streets.

       "How so?" Shield asked.

        "There could have been a thunder storm" he chuckled as Shield shivered at the thought of walking through a storm in full plate armour.

      When the three reached the farm, they discovered Granny Smith sitting on her chair with AppleBloom, she wore a frown on her face as she held the sleeping foal, but upon hearing the crunch of boots, she looked up to see Kevin, Shield and Fleur. "Hey Kevin" she said smiling sadly.

    "Hey Granny, what's wrong?" Kevin asked her.

     The old mare took a inhaled and exhaled deeply before looking at Kevin on the brink of tears. "Pink and Sword passed." She said.

      "Passed? What do you mean?" He asked as the door flew open to see a Fourteen year old AppleJack glaring at Kevin.

       "Their Dead cuz of you!" She said shocking the three guards "They went to see ya to see ya bucking ceremony and their train derailed and now they are dead and its all your fault!" She shouted awakening AppleBloom who began crying, Kevin moved to confront his baby sister but was shoved off the balcony by AppleJack. "Dont touch her, she isnt your family, no pony is your family after what you did, mum and dad just felt sorry for you so just buck off" she shouted.

     Kevin didn't say anything as he slung his bag over his shoulder and turned to leave. "Yea and don't come back!" She screamed at him as the three guards walked out of the farm. As they walked, Fleur put her arm around Kevin's shoulder while Shield was cracking jokes which soon caused Kevin to smile.

     "Hey is there anyplace to get some decent food around here?" Shield asked.

      "Yea a pair of my friends opened up a cafe so we can go there if you like" he said as the two nodded before they made their way to the cafe, they soon arrived at the gingerbread building and entered to find that it was quiet save for a few customers so the trio moved to the counter which was when they were confronted by a pink poofy mare that spoke 100 miles an hour about how she had never seen them before so they must be new to Ponyville and such.

      "Girl I grew up here so no and I'm not in the mood for a party so can we get some coffee and food?

" Kevin asked as the mare looked slightly annoyed "Oh and is Carrot or Cup in?" Kevin asked as she thought before nodding. "Great may you send them over when you can" he asked as she shrugged before the three guards went to a booth to sit down. After a few moments their food and coffee arrived from the pink mare before she vanished.

       "Pinkie where are you taking me?" Asked a voice from behind Kevin, he turned to see CupCake being led by the mare but her face turned from annoyance to happiness as she hugged her friend "It's so good to see you Kevin" she said smiling before she frowned "I'm sorry about your parents " she said sadly.

       "It's fine I guess, anyway this is Shield and Fleur" he said gesturing the other two guards who waved.

        "Hey, so your joining the Ponyville guard? " she asked as Kevin shook his head "what? Why?" She asked.

        "AJ hates me so I hate what to think what Mac thinks..... and besides she said it herself, that I'm not part of the family" he said sipping his coffee.

       "Your kidding?" She asked as Kevin shook his head. "The little bitch, does she even know that you joined the guard to help pay off the farms debt and put the three of them through school?" She asked as Kevin shrugged causing her to shake her head before sitting next to her friend. "Oh how's Snow?" She asked as Shield and Fleur both froze and looked at Kevin.

        "Well about a year ago, I discovered that she has with another..... and had a foal" he said as Cup gasped.

        "I'm sorry Kevin..... oh have you seen Nursery yet?" She asked as he shook his head "Okay I'll ask her to come here" she said pulling out her phone and texting the other mare.

      "Kevin Where are we gonna be stationed?" Shield asked.

       "Canterlot or Trottingham" he said as the two nodded before a familiar cream mare arrived with a small Brown colt in her arms, She walked over to the booth and sat next to Shield.

      "Hey Kevin" she said smiling.

      "Hey Rhyme, who us the little one?" He asked.

       "This is my son, his name is Button Mash" she said looking down at the small colt.

        "He is cute, who is the dad?" Kevin asked causing the cream mare to frown. "I'm sorry" Kevin said once he realised he messed up.

        "No its fine, it was a one night stand" she said.

        "His lose" Shield said gaining Rhyme's attention.

        "Why do you say that?" She asked.

         "Well you are really good looking and from what Kevin has told Fleur and myself, your super kind" he said as Rhyme turned bright red and hid her face.

       "Well as much as enjoy watching you flirt Shield, we better go" he said as Shield groaned before he received Rhyme's number before Kevin paid and left after saying their good byes.

      When the trio reached the train station they looked at their shared pool of bits. "Okay so we can either rent in Canterlot or live in Trottingham" Fleur said as the three looked at each other.

       "Trottingham" they said in unison.

(3 years later)

        Running through the town of Trottingham, a dozen guards were chasing a crazed unicorn stallion, the said stallion was wanted for several brutal assaults and murders in Trottingham. The group of guards were led by one of the Sergeants of the town, Kevin except he had grown a short beard, his armour was different then when he joined the guard in Trottingham. His armour was missing its chest plate, which was replaced with chain mail with a blue cloth cover, with the royal symbol over his heart. This was the armour design that was selected to be tested a few months back and unfortunately Trottingham was selected to trial it for a few months.

      The stallion then ran into a old warehouse before turning and and using his magic to throw a massive slab of metal at the guards, knocking most down save for Kevin and Fleur, who charged in and cornered him with swords drawn.

      "Give up Butt, you are surrounded" Kevin said to the tan Stallion with a Dark brown mane and a pink curly mustache.

       "You'll pay for hurting my Brother" Fleur growled as the unicorn drew a knife before a hand ful of powdered glass and throwing it at Fleur, who managed to close her eyes but accidently inhaled the powder causing her to drop to her knees and cough violently as Butt charged her but was cut off by Kevin slammed him with his shield.

      "I shall kill you and then continue my reign of stabbing" the Stallion laughed menacingly as he lunged at Kevin who proceeded to hit the Stallion in the face with his shield hard and knocked him out.

      "You okay Fleur?" Kevin asked as he bound the stallion's wrists behind his back, he looked at his friend who was coughing up blood. "Shit" he said grabbing her and leading her out as guards entered to drag the psychopath out as Kevin took his friend to the hospital.

     Upon arriving, the doctors took Fleur away and told Kevin to wait, so he sat in the lobby, writing the report for the arrest, he wasn't happy that Fleur was injured or the rest of the squad for that matter but he was happy to have that stallion behind bars. He was so caught up in his writing that he didn't notice a cream mare with a navy blue and pink mane stand in front of him until he heard her clear her throat. "Kevin " the voice said as he looked up.

      "Bon Bon? What are you doing in Trottingham?" He asked her.

      "I came to visit my Cousin Milky, but then I saw you heading to the hospital so I came to see you" she said.

      "Okay, um how's AJ?" He asked as she nodded.

      "She's good, she has realised what she did but her pride has stopped her from calling you, but when she did she didn't have your number...... she wants to apologise and have you back as her brother." She said as Kevin smiled softly before sighing.

        "Well I get time off in about two weeks so I'll head to Ponyville to see her, okay?" He asked as Bon Bon nodded with a smile. "And how's AppleBloom? She's what 5 now?" He asked.

       "Yea and she started school a few months ago, she asks about you alot though" the mare said.

        "Well tell them that I'll see them in a fortnight" he said as she nodded before a group of guards approached him

        "Sergeant Kevin Jenson?" The senior Guard asked as Kevin nodded. "You have been transfered to the Equestrian Army, as we need the best of each towns guard for a national threat." He said.

      "Wait what?" Kevin said.

      "No time we must leave now" the Stallion said.

      " do I get a chance to say good bye?" He asked.

      "You'll only be gone for a week at most" he said as Kevin looked at Bon Bon before nodding and leaving with the Guards but stopped when they bumped into a doctor.

     "Hey Doctor, how is Fleur Dis Lee and Storm Shield?" He asked as the doctor looked at his clipboard.

      "Sargeant Fleur Dis Lee is in a stable condition but she won't be able to do any strenuous activities ever again die to the damage in her lungs and Sargeant Storm Shield is alright, his flank has 72 stitches in it due to the multiple stab wounds to it, he won't be able to sit down comfortably for several months." He said as Kevin nodded before thanking him and leaving.

(Several days later, deep within the Everfree forest)

       Kevin was laying in his tent, he was in a black top and shorts as his armour laid next to him, he was given a spell pistol which was a flintlock that had a 3 second recharge between shot, along with that he was given traditional full plated armour, he wasn't told what the threat was but he did notice large cannons being rolled up, the cannons working on the same principle as the pistol except more powerful and a 60 second recharge. He looked at the cream coloured arm band on his left arm, he gently traced his fingers over the cutie marks and sighed before he head boot steps approach his tent before the flap was opened to show a gold armoured Pegasus mare. "Suit up Guard, its time" she ordered as he nodded before getting geared up, he removed the arm band and put it into a pocket inside of the Chest plate before attaching the holster to his hip and his sword to his back before leaving his tent and following the Elite guard to a large staging area.

      "Attention! You have all been wondering why you are here and I have grave news, we are right now, Equestria's first and final defense against and Incursion..... a Demonic Incursion" the commander said as all the soldiers gulped. "We will have artillery and snipers on the ridge overlooking the incursion sight while our main force shall be seperated into three groups, Unicorn, Earth Pony and Pegasi, the Earth Pony shall be our front line, the Unicorn shall be our ranged force and the Pegasi shall be our air support," he said as his amhorn lite up and showed the battle plan. "If you see the chance to seal the portal, by all means, seal it" he stated as the army agreed. "Alright, the incursion is supposed to happen at sunset, so let's get moving" he ordered as all the Equestians began moving to set up, the process took several hours but when they were done, Kevin was set up near the rear of the Earth Pony wall, he was with a mortar team, who were using bombs instead of spells as ammunition, when Kevin questioned this, he was told it was due to spells may not work against demons. As the time came, there was an uneasy silence as the sun slowly set, the most creepiest thing was, animals began to flee the valley, but before Kevin could question, the sunlight had left the valley and through the trees, Kevin could see green flames burning silently before a loudly wailing was heard, causing Kevin to cover his ears bu when the noise vanished, it was soon replaced with the sound of explosions and steel and against flesh or steel.

      "What the hell?" Asked the Mare on the mortar.

      "Whats wrong?" Kevin asked.

       "It's not firing" she said checking over the device before pulling the trigger again. As this happened a massive explosion was heard as a tall created ripped through the trees and guards, it had long wirey fur along canine head but the skin around its mouth was pulled back to show its bone. Its body was that if a humanoid with massive talons as it tore through the ponies, but that's not the only thing Kevin noticed a cloaked figure chanting to a totem on the other side of the portal,  this gave Kevin a crazy idea.

      "Hey how long does it take for one of those bombs to detonate?" He asked the gunner.

        "A few seconds, why?" She asked before Kevin grabbed one and began running towards the portal, he side stepped spells and demons, before sliding underneath the massive monster. When he saw the hooded figure and totem again, he realised he would have to enter the portal, so sterling his nerves, he slammed the trigger of the bomb, causing it to start ticking before he ran into the portal with his pistol drawn, he managed to make it to the totem before he was struck in the Chest by a bolt of magic, causing him to drop the bomb and stumble slightly, when he looked up, he saw the hooded figure holding a staff that glowed a red colour.

      "You shall not stop us mortal" it said with a chuckle.

       "I already have" he said before kicking the bomb until it slid under the totem before detonating, sending Kevin off and down a steep hill, banging and crashing before he landed in a shallow black water filled pond. He was looking at it as he watched the Portal seal itself shut, locking him inside Tartarus.after a moment, he pulled himself to his feet, ignoring the chunk of crystal sticking out of his shoulder and began running as demons chased him to take vengeance upon their ruined invasion.

(Sweet Apple Aches, one week later)

      AppleJack was baking in her kitchen, she was wearing her father's stenson along with her mother's flannel top, in the room also was Big Mac sipping a mug of cold cider as he helped AppleBloom with her Homework, Granny Smith was out cold on her rocking chair in the living room when a loud knock came from the front door gaining the three younger ponies attention as AppleJack went and answered the front door, only to find a pair of guard standing there with grim looks upon their faces. "Ms do you mind if we come in?" One of the guards asked.

      "What's all this about?" She asked.

       "It would be better if we were inside or at least you were seated" he replied as she nodded and let them in before leading them to the kitchen and sat next to Mac. "Thank you..... now unfortunately we come bringing bad news" he said as Mac's eyes widened in realisation but AJ hadn't realised yet.

       "What kind of bad new could ya bring?" She asked as the guards looked at each other before the second guard produced a helmet, the helmet's front was too short for a pony's face and not shaped right. "Why did ya place this weird helmet on ma table? The only pony that could possibly wear this is..... oh no" she said finally realising as the guards nodded. "But.... no this can't be.... how?" She demanded as she stood up and banged her fist against the table making both guards jump.

      "He sacrificed himself to seal a portal to Tartarus,:this not only allowed our artillery to begin working again but it also saved hundreds of guards, Equestria and possibly all of Equis" he said before sighing "we just hope he died in the explosion" he added.

      "Why would you say something like that, and why aren't you trying to find him." She shouted.

       "Because if he is alive then he is trapped in Tararus and we can't get into Tartarus to save him even if we were allowed to" the Stallion yelled as he rose to his feet. "Don't you think there are dozens who want to save him for what he did to save us?" He shouted before the other guard pulled him back down. "I'm sorry" he said.

      "It's fine," Mac said as the two guards took their leave, leaving the helmet on the table before Mac turned to AppleJack, who was crying. "Hey its fine" he said as she shook her head.

      "No it isn't, ah never got to tell him ah'm sorry or say that ah love him and the last thing ah said to him was to practically get out for something he couldn't control." She said as she broke down in her brother's arms.

(Tartarus )

     Kevin was panting as his back was against a wall, in his hands was his sword as the monsters slowly approached him, around him laid dozens of the infernal creatures dead but there was always more. He was heavily wounded as blood poured from multiple lacerations to his body, He was panting hard as the blood moon above showered the area in a dark red glow, he was starving, dehydrated and exhausted as he hadn't had a moment to relax since he arrived.

     The first creature kept forward but Kevin cut it down before killing another but as he did more and more pounced until he had his shoulder bitten into by the massive mutated Wolf causing him to cry out in pain as his armour shattered in its jaws along with his shoulder blade, this causes him to drop his sword but he quickly drew his pistol and aimed it into his shoulder and fired, causing the light blue beam to slice through his shoulder and into the monster's head, causing it to detach and fall, unfortunately Kevin fell to his knees from pain and exhaustion as the beast cackled evily before slowly approaching. Kevin didn't have the energy to fight anymore as he could only watch them approach but he was caught off guard when a massive red human woman with pointed ears and a pair of horns in heavily plate landed in front of him with a sadistic looking steel mace, she gave him a concerned look before she at the beasts and crushed them beneath her weapon. When the beasts were dead, she looked back to see Kevin grabbing his sword and slowly pulling himself to his feet and pointed the blade at her.

      "I mean you no harm little one" she said as she gently brushed the sword away "I have come to help" she stated as she smiled, revealing her massive canines before wrapping a arm around him."come let's go some where safe" she said much to Kevin's disapproval, she picked him up and walked off with him, At some point Kevin managed to black out.

       When Kevin came to, he found himself on a massive bed, his armour was replaced with a large amount of bandages as incense burned, filling the air with a soft smell of vanilla as Kevin pulled himself from the bed only to collapse to the floor was a grunt, this awoke the second occupant of the bed which Kevin failed to notice before he felt himself get lifted back into the bed. "You should not be moving in your condition" she said as she sat up and looked at him worried.

      "Why are you helping me?" He asked as she smiled.

       "I wanted a friend, you see I'm a Red Oni, we enjoy having friends but we are also really scary" she said with a sigh.

       "You only looked scary when you grinned at me with your massive canines" he said as she chuckled before slipping out of the bed to show she was naked, which didn't really phase him.

       "What no blushing or anything? Am I that bad looking?" She asked a little hurt as Kevin shook his head.

        "My previous room mate prefered to walk around in her birthday suit" he said as she smiled before pulling on a robe then left the room. When she was gone, Kevin looked down it his bandaged form and sighed before looking out the window to see the world outside in a soft silver glow from the full moon high in the sky, but in the distance Kevin could see a city. His attention was gained as the Red Oni returned with a a large bottle and two cups, she noticed him looking outside and smiled.

      "Welcome to Tartarus" she said pouring him a cup full of the clear liquid before handing it to him, which he accepted before sipping and nearly spitting the liquid making her chuckle "Never had Sake before?" She asked as she downed her own cup.

      "Cant say I have, hey what do I even call you?" He asked her.

      "Ummm I don't know, how about Red" she shrugged as he nodded.

      "That works my name is Kevin, hey how long was I out anyway?" He asked as she looked nervous.

       "About a month, seeing your body was extremely damaged and you lost a lot of blood" she said.

        "Okay next question, where did you find a donar?" He asked as she rubbed the back of her head.

        "Those demon wolves had the same blood as you so yea...." She said as Kevin looked shocked before she offered him a hand mirror which he gave a confused look. "Look" she said as he did before freezing, his eyes were blood red and slitted.

      "What the fuck?" He said topping the mirror.

       "It was the only way to save you" she said as he looked at her again.

       "Why did you save me?" He asked angrily.

        "Because you have the will to escape this hell" she shouted before looking down. "And I want you to be free" she said as he sighed.

       "Okay, I'm sorry" he said as she pulled him into a hug.

      "It's fine but your gonna have to prepare, you'll have to find the keeper and defeat him but this is no small task and not to mention you'll have to do this for each level your on" she said letting him go.

      "Level?" He asked.

      "Yes there are many levels of Tartarus and each level has stronger and stronger monsters" she said as he nodded "but for now we drink" she said smirking as he chuckled before sipping his drink.
