Chapter 3: Out of the Closet [Sci-Twi]

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

"Can't you just tell me where we're going?" Twilight asked from the passenger seat of my car as she scratched at her blindfold. I sighed softly and shook my head. This was her 10th time asking since we left the University. I loved the girl, but sometimes, she could get so impatient. Here I was, trying to surprise her with the vacation spot of her dreams, and she was trying to ruin the surprise.

"No, Twilight," I finally answered. "I told you; it's a surprise."

"You know how I feel about surprises," she responded. "Can't you just give me a hint?"

"I said no hints!" I said sternly, like a father talking to his impatient daughter. "If you ask one more time, I'm turning this car around, and when you learn where we were going, you're going to kick yourself for not keeping quiet." I then noticed my exit sign and turned the car down the ramp. "We're almost there, too, so just hang in there."

Twilight let out an aggravated huff as she crossed her arms and put on her pouty face. I may have grown immune to it, but it was still so darn adorable. As I approached the stop light, I heard Twilight murmur under her breath, "Stubborn jerk."

"Sticks and stones, love," I chuckled as the light turned green. "You'll thank me later." As we continued through the traffic toward our destination, I quickly glanced back at Twilight, who had now relaxed into a casual arms-crossed position. I chuckled softly, remembering how hopeless I was against her pouty face when we had first started dating. That was back only two months ago, in our sophomore year at Crystal State Academy. We actually met by complete accident. I was in the middle of baseball practice, she was studying on a bench nearby, and, well, I may have knocked over her books with a fly ball. One look into her eyes was all it took, and a few weeks later, we started dating. Funny how it all worked out, huh? My train of thought suddenly halted when I noticed our destination. Smiling, I turn the car into the parking lot and quickly find a spot.

As soon as we stopped, Twilight instantly perked up. "Are we here?" she asked. "Can I take this off now?"

No, no, no!" I said. "Not yet. I want to get you in front of the building." Twilight groaned and slumped back in her seat. With how intelligent Twilight was, she still had the tendency to act like a little kid if she didn't get her way. Or maybe that was just around me. Either way, I rolled my eyes playfully and stepped out of the car. I then went around to the passenger side and helped Twilight out. The instant she stepped out of the car, she started sniffing the air.

"It smells like...city air," she stated. I could tell the wheels in her head were turning, trying desperately to figure out where we were. "I also hear cars honking and an onslaught of pedestrians." I led her to in front of the car, making sure she had the perfect view of the front. "I'm guessing we are in a large city...maybe Manehattan or Baltimare?"

I quickly moved to in front of her, my excited smile not faltering for a moment. It was time for the big reveal. "Take off the blindfold and see for yourself."

Twilight sighed of relief and started to undo the blindfold. "Well it's about time, sweetheart," she said, her violet eyes soon becoming visible. "For what you put me through, this better be worth-"

All her words stopped instantly when she looked up. Her eyes grew wide, her mouth dropped open, and she let out a loud gasp when she saw the big surprise. The building was tall, three stories high to be more accurate, with brown walls and white columns stretching from the marble steps to the triangular roof. Between each column hung a banner with the name of the establishment along with pictures of the exhibits. After a minute to take it all in, Twilight finally stammered, "I-I-I-Is t-that...?"

"The Manehattan Museum of Science and History!" I proudly proclaimed. "I remember hearing you talk about how much you wanted to come here at some point, so I decided to use our vacation time to visit! What do you think, huh?"

Twilight’s whole body and face were completely frozen in place, her eyes still wide and her mouth still dropped. Even after I asked her, she stood there for a minute, speechless.

“Twilight?” I asked as I walked up to her. I waved my hand in front of her face, but still no response. “Twilight? Are you alri-”

Within a split second, Twilight had pounced upon me and enveloped me in a tight hug, almost knocking me over. My face was then assaulted all over with a barrage of kisses. I had never seen Twilight this happy before. It was nice.

“Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!” Twilight squealed with delight in between her kisses. “You. Are. The best. Boyfriend. I ever. Had!”

“I’m the only boyfriend you’ve ever had,” I chuckled as I hugged her back.

“Even better,” she replied, smiling widely. After finally calming down, she released her grip on me and stepped back. She then looked back at the museum, and let out a longing sigh. “I can’t believe we’re actually here! I’ve been dreaming about seeing this place for so long! I’ve read all about it online, seen the brochures, heard rumors, but now?” Another sigh escaped her lips. “Now I get to see it! With my own eyes!” She turned back to me, her eyes glimmering with excitement. “I didn’t know you were into science and history!”

“I...um…” I froze for a second. “I...guess I haven’t told you everything about me. Always willing to learn something new!” I chuckled, nervously.

Twilight beamed. “Well, we’re not going to learn anything new by standing in the parking lot.” She then grabbed my hand. “Let’s go!” I then found myself almost being dragged behind Twilight as she led me to the staircase which led to the entrance.

If I was to be truly honest with myself, I wasn’t really into this science and history stuff. I wouldn’t have come to the museum for any reason, except to see Twilight happy. Why would I plan a vacation only for that? You see, Twilight and I were as opposite as, well, I was gonna say day and night, but even day and night have their priorities in common. We were that different. Twilight was a learner. She loved math, science, history, and learning new things. She was, no other word for it, a nerd, but an adorable nerd nonetheless (and don’t you forget it). I was a jock. I loved sports, mostly baseball. I had been playing since I could pick up a bat. I played all throughout middle school, high school, and was even striving to become a professional. We were at completely different ends of the equation.

I had never really thought about it until a little while ago. It got me thinking; what if she realized that our differences were too great and decided to end it between us? The thought alone made my hands quiver. I couldn’t let that happen, so I came up with the idea to try and get into stuff she liked. The Manhattan Museum was the perfect place to do it, considering how often I had heard Twilight talk about it. Thus, our vacation spot was decided!

So...yeah, I wasn’t looking forward to being surrounded by nothing but artifacts, but I was looking forward to seeing Twilight the happiest she has been. And as Twilight led me up the stairs, I could tell that she had hit Nerdvana, and I was truly happy for her.

As soon as the doors were opened, Twilight’s jaw dropped. All around there were rooms with labels on top of the doorways leading to different exhibits, banners were hung all over the ceiling, advertising the popular attractions, like Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Mission to the Stars. Small groups could be seen following formally-dressed employees carrying little microphones, pointing out around them. I glanced back at Twilight, who was taking it all in. I chuckled slightly. If her eyes got any wider, she would probably turn into an anime schoolgirl!

“It’s just as it described on the website!” she squealed. “I don’t know where to start!” She then looked at me. “Do you think we should take the tour?”

Worry hit me instantly. If I knew anything, the tour guides relished in taking things slow and steady. If we took the tour, we would be here for who-knows-how-long! I quickly hid my worry and replied, “Well...I don’t think so. I mean...these tour guides, I mean, they would be going at their own pace, and we don’t want that! Do we?” I looked nervously at Twilight, who was thinking it over.

“You’re absolutely right, sweetheart!” she responded. I sighed of relief. “Besides, the tour would be over way too quickly!”

Well, there went that state of calm.

“Uh…” I chuckled nervously. “Over too...quickly?”

“Yeah,” Twilight said gleefully. “We wanna take in every inch of this place as thoroughly as we can!”

“Every...inch?” I asked weakly.

“Yep!” Twilight wrapped me in a big hug. “Oh, sweetheart! This is going to be so much fun! Just you and me, enveloped in knowledge for hours!”

Her last two words echoed in my head like a haunted foreboding. I felt my eye twitch slightly, but Twilight was completely unfazed. She seized my hand and led me forward. “Let’s start at the very beginning! The creation of the universe! I hear that there’s even a model demonstration of the big bang!” Twilight squealed again as she led me to a corridor on the left. I was brought out of my horrific trance when I saw how chipper Twilight was. This was for her after all, and I had to at least try and keep an open mind.

Maybe it won’t be that boring, I told myself hopefully as we entered through the corridor.

I was sadly, god-awfully mistaken. After visiting the Creation of the Universe exhibit for 15 minutes, we made our way up the timeline of events (Twilight thought it would be better to keep things in order). I tried to stay interested, I really did, but every single exhibit was more boring than the last. Prehistoric Era, The Roman Empire, The Founding of America, every one was teeth-grindingly boring. All I could think of as we passed each one slowly was how Twilight found all of it as exciting as striking buried treasure. To make matters worse, for me at least, there were recordings connected to each exhibit. You press a button, and a dull, almost robotic voice tells of its history. Twilight got a kick out of that. Whatever information the recording left out, Twilight felt it was her duty to fill in the blanks for me. The problem was it was all blank to me!

I truly did try and understand why this stuff interested Twilight, but none of it was clicking. As she happily explained the thought process of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, all I could think of was why Lincoln had to write it so long. Then my mind started to wander off topic, making me wonder if it was Lincoln that chopped down an apple tree, or if it was Washington. Then again...it might have been a cherry tree...or did Twilight say that was just a story… I found myself trailing off again and tried to bring it back to the topic. By the time we arrived at the Industrial Revolution (oooh, riveting), I found myself on a bench, being taught by Twilight about every single thought process that went into the Revolution. I felt my eyelids get heavier with every sentence. Heavier...heavier...heavier…

“Sweetheart?”

I instantly jerked awake and shouted, “I’ll take Cartoon Horses for 200, Alex!”

Twilight giggled, obviously thinking I was joking. “C’mon, silly! Let’s go to the Science Wing next! They have interactive stations!” She squealed again and led me off down the hall. I groaned softly.

After leaving the Science Wing, half an hour later, I was at my wit’s end! I started to think about the Yankees game that would be going on right now. The game I had been dying to see. I started to imagine Rodriguez’s swing, Cessa’s pitch, and McCann’s catch. I started to think about how their opponents, the Red Sox, were doing. I tried shaking the thoughts from my head and focused on Twilight, but my baseball thoughts returned just as quickly as if they’d never left. I couldn’t take it anymore! I needed some time away to just check on the game. Just a minute of baseball would surely get me through the rest of the day.

“Hey, hun?” Twilight turned around to face me. “I’m...gonna go find a bathroom real quick.”

Twilight smiled. “Ok, but hurry back! We’re going to the Solar System exhibit next! I’ll be able to finish my study on Uranus!”

I wish, I thought humorously as I smiled and turned and hurried down the hallway. I looked from wall to wall for a bathroom sign, but with no luck. We must’ve been farther down the museum than I thought. I couldn’t be away for too long, or else Twilight would think that something was wrong. As I passed an empty hallway, I suddenly noticed a janitor’s closet with the door slightly ajar. It was as if fate itself wanted me to have some privacy. I looked around to make sure no one was looking, and hastened down to the closet. There was nothing else down the hallway other than the closet. Perfect. I took one more look at the door and stepped inside. Brooms and mops were leaning on the walls, cardboard boxes lay across the back, and assorted cleaners were sitting on high shelves. Yep; basic janitor’s closet.

I was about to close the door, when I noticed what kind of knob it was. I sighed of relief. I would not want something that to happen to me. How could I explain that to Twilight? I pulled the door until there was but a crack left between it and the wall, turned on the light, sat down on a stack of boxes, and pulled out my phone. Lucky for me I had service. I turned on my phone and quickly looked up the Yankees vs Red Sox. It didn’t take long to bring up the current status; 10 - 7, Red Sox lead, bottom of the 7th. I then looked down at the scrolling options and saw a link to the current radio broadcast of the game. Did I dare listen? I glanced from my phone to the door a few times, both sides of my conscience duking it out.

“Well…” I said softly, “I guess a few minutes of listening wouldn’t hurt.”

I tapped the link, and within seconds, a sports announcer’s voice killed the silence of the room. I leaned forward on my boxes and listened.

Here we go, bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded with two outs. Rodriguez is up to bat for the Yankees. Fine season Rod has had with his batting average. Though the Sox’s pitcher, Price, has had a solid record as well. Let’s see if Rod can pull his team ahead. Here’s the windup...and the pitch...swing and a miss for Rod. Strike one.

“C’mon, Rod,” I said through gritted teeth. “C’mon!”

Here’s the next windup, and...he throws to first where Butler is, and he is safe. Nice try there. Alright, the focus is back on Rodriguez. Here’s the windup...and the pitch...looks like it’s too outside. The ump must see something we can’t though. Strike two.

“Damn!” I found myself shouting.

I don’t know what kind of call that was, but the Yankees fans certainly don’t like it. The pressure is on now. No balls, two strikes, with two outs. If Rod can’t get this, it might be a turning point to everyone in the game. Here we go. Price winds up...and the pitch...and it’s connected. It’s a fly ball to left field, and it looks like it’s not coming down.

In all my excitement, I had gotten to my feet, my eyes glued to my phone, and had started saying, “C’mon! C’mon! Get out of there!”

It’s going…

"Yes?"

going…

"Yes?"

going...

"YES?!"

IT’S GONE! IT’S A GRAND SLAM!

All need for secrecy was lost as I jumped up and started whooping. I could hear the crowds on the radio roaring with excitement as the announcer continued to talk. I was so excited, I started jumping around as if I was actually there. All exterior noises were drowned out by my cheering. I was at a loss for words. Nothing could ruin my day now.

“Sweetheart?”

It was like someone had taken a vacuum to my head and sucked out all the blood. I felt my head go pale as I instantly stopped jumping and turned around slowly. Twilight was standing at the doorway with her body halfway in the closet. I straightened up and put my phone behind my back.

Twilight tilted her head with confusion. “What’re you doing in here?”

“Uh…” I stammered, trying to think of something. “What’re...you doing here?”

“Well, I was on my way to get another map because I lost mine,” she replied, “when I thought I heard your voice coming from this corridor and- wait a second! Why am I answering the questions? What’re you doing in this closet?”

I started trying to think of something else to say, when a voice echoed from behind my back.

What a hit, ladies and gentlemen. If this doesn’t increase the morale of the Yankees, I don’t know what will.

It took Twilight, maybe a second, to put two and two together. Her face slowly changed from confusion to anger.

“Is that a baseball game?”

I stammered a bit, but couldn’t think of anything. I was caught.

“You’re listening to a baseball game during our vacation?!”

“Ehhhhh…” There was no getting around it, so I tried my hardest to make it sound not so bad. “Well...listening is such a...harsh word.”

Why don't I learn?

“Oh. My. God!” Twilight shouted. I stepped back a bit, fearing for my life. I had seen Twilight angry on several occasions, but I had never seen her this angry before. She was like an entirely different form of anger. The kind that only comes between a couple. My eyes widened even more when she slammed the door and marched towards me.

“I can’t believe you would do something like this!” she scolded. “We are supposed to be spending time together, exploring the wonders of history and science, and you sneak off to listen to a stupid game?!”

“Twilight-”

“Does our time spent together mean that little to you?”

“Twilight-”

“This is, by far, the lowest thing a boyfriend can do! Sneaking off, only thinking of himself and what he wants, when he should be spending time with his girlfriend! I mean, is baseball all you care about? I just can’t-”

“TWILIGHT!” I shouted, silencing her for a second, her eyes still staring daggers into mine. “You just locked us in here!”

“I don’t care!” she continued shouting. “You are not getting out of-” She then stopped. Her eyes lost a bit of their fire as she straightened up. “Come again?”

“You locked us in here,” I repeated as I pointed towards the closed door. “That’s a two-way lock. It locks on both the outside and inside when closed. I recognized it from the storage closet in the locker room back at school. That’s why I didn’t have it closed the whole way.”

Twilight glanced from the door back to me. Her head turned so sharply, you would’ve suspected it to fall off. With each glance, her face showed more and more signs of panic growing. Then, she ran to the door and tried to turn the knob. Nothing happened. She then reached up and started to pound on the door.

“SOMEONE!” she shouted. “ANYONE! GET US OUT OF HERE!”

“It won’t work, Twilight,” I said calmly. “There’s nothing down this hallway except this.”

Twilight turned back to me, her eyes darting around the room hastily. “What do we do?”

“I guess we just wait until a janitor is needed,” I replied as I sat down on some boxes. “God knows how long that’ll take.”

“Well,” Twilight said with a small, hopeful smile appearing on her face, “maybe we’ll strike it lucky. Maybe someone will spill a drink, or a kid could throw up. We just have to stay hopeful and wait until- GAH!”

I almost fell off my boxes as Twilight shouted. I looked back and she was pointing at me furiously. The fire had returned to her eyes.

“How dare you make me almost forget that I’m mad at you!”

It wasn’t my intention, but it still was a good attempt.

“I wasn’t going to listen to the whole thing,” I said calmly as I moved towards Twilight. “I just wanted to do a quick check and I was gonna come right back. I swear. I just needed to recover a bit.”

The second I said that, I wish I hadn’t. Twilight’s eyes widened with fury as she shouted, “RECOVER?!”

Like pouring salt on the wound. I winced and shook my head rapidly. “That’s not what I meant! That came out wrong!” I tried to reach out to touch Twilight’s shoulder, but she pulled it away.

“No. No, I get it,” Twilight said, affronted. “I’m so sorry that I’m such a BORING girlfriend that you would have to recover from me.”

“Twilight! Hun-”

“Don’t you hun me, you jerk!” Twilight snapped. “You can take all the time you want to,” she put up her hands and moved her fingers in air quotes fashion, “‘recover’! I’ll just sit over here, and you,” she pointed to a stack of boxes on the other side of the closet, “can sit over there until we get out!” She then folded her arms, huffed angrily, and turned her back to me.

I stood there for a minute in the middle of the closet, guilt running through me like a bullet train. It was never my intention to hurt Twilight, especially on such a special day for her. I just wanted to make her happy. Now I had probably ruined our entire relationship. I opened my mouth, but couldn’t find the words to say. What could I say? Finally sighing in defeat, I sulked over to the boxes on the other side of the room and sat down, as I looked at my feet with sorrow, all I could wonder is if things could be fixed after something like this.

I looked down at my phone. We had been in the closet for a little over 15 minutes. It felt like an eternity. I would occasionally glance up at Twilight, but she still had her back turned to me, her arms folded and her legs crossed, her face looking down. I couldn’t tell what expression she had, but I wouldn’t have been surprised if there was still anger lingering there. I wouldn’t have blamed her. If I was her, I’d be pretty mad too. The only thing is that she didn’t know the entire story. She deserved to know all the details. I shook the thought from my head. What details? It was as I said; I was looking up the game to recover. It wasn’t from her though. She had to know that. I turned back to her,

“Twilight-”

“I’m not speaking to you,” she said, not even turning around. The tone of her voice was less angry, but I could still hear the disappointment in it. Almost like she didn’t want to be mad at me, but had no choice in the matter. I sighed and turned around again. Silence passed over us like a large blanket, enveloping us with mute awkwardness as the seconds flew by. I looked down at my phone again. Another three minutes gone. Thoughts were flooding through my mind, all of which were methods of trying to talk to Twilight. However, as they came to mind, one by one, each one was pushed aside. The silence was almost haunting at this point. I looked up at the closet light as it flickered a bit. There was nothing I could say. All I could do was feel bad for Twilight and kick myself mentally.

“I just don’t understand!”

I jumped a bit, startled at the sudden outburst. I turned back around to see Twilight looking at me. She had a look of disappointed confusion, and while better than pure anger, it still wasn’t a pleasant sight. I shifted my body around to fully face Twilight as she did the same with me.

“You’re the one who planned this trip!” Twilight continued, pointing at me. “You chose the location. You did all of it!” She lowered her hand and sat it in her lap next to the other. “I thought- I assumed you actually liked history and science.” She paused as she looked right into my eyes. My heart skipped a beat. Every time I gazed into her violet eyes, it was like I was stuck in a trance. Confusion still covered her face, and, it was hard to tell, but I thought I saw some glistening tears barely escaping her eyelids.

“You...don’t. Do you?”

I had a feeling that by the way Twilight asked that she already knew the answer. Sighing heavily, I shook my head no.

“Then why did you choose here for our vacation?” she asked, her voice cracking slightly.

“I did it for you!” There was no point in beating around the bush about it. Twilight deserved the whole truth.

“For me?” Twilight’s voice had changed again. This time, the disappointment had faded a little, giving way to more confusion. She then stood up and walked towards me a bit. “Sweetheart, I’m touched that you thought of me, but you didn’t have to do all of this only for me.”

“Yes I did!” I said sternly, a little more sternly than I thought.

“Why?” Twilight asked firmly, her eyebrows narrowing a bit. “What was so crucial that you had to do this just for me?”

“I DIDN'T WANT TO LOSE YOU!”

I didn’t mean to shout. It just sort of came out that way. It seemed like the echo of what I just said lingered in my ears. Silence filled the room again as Twilight stared at me, her eyes darting into mine. Her eyebrows relaxed as she continued to stare. The only sound was the faint muffle of crowds outside in the main lobby. After what seemed like an eternity, she finally spoke.

“What are you talking about?” Her voice was soft when she spoke. There was no hiding it now. Sighing again heavily, I started to explain.

“About a week ago, some of my teammates were teasing me about how you and I have nothing in common. They said that relationships like that don’t last long. They said that if the two people can’t find a single thing they have in common, they are destined to fail.”

Twilight’s eyes widened a bit as I continued.

“At first, I shrugged it off, but then I started thinking; we really don’t have anything in common.” I looked down at the ground. “Everything about us is different.”

“Well…” Twilight stammered uncomfortably. “What about Pinkie and her boyfriend?” She then knelt down beside me. “You’ve seen them together. They’re different.”

“Yeah,” I replied looking her in the eyes again. “Their personalities are different, but they at least have similar likes and goals. Face it, Twilight; you and I are as opposite as can be.” I looked back to the ground. “You’re a scholar. You love books, learning, math, science, and you can’t throw or catch a ball to save your life.” My eyes widened as I realized what I just said as I looked back at Twilight. “Uh...no offense.”

“None taken,” she said, her tone unchanging.

“And I’m an athlete,” I continued. “I love running, working out, playing baseball, and I can’t spend five minutes in a classroom without getting bored. I-” Starting to feel myself choke up a bit, I pause to regain myself. “I started to fear that if you figured out how different we were, you might have…”

“Broken up with you?” Twilight asked concerningly.

“Yeah,” I nodded. “I didn’t want that to happen. That’s when I came up with the idea to try something you loved. I remember you talking about how much you wanted to visit the Manehattan Museum of Science and History, so I decided to take you there and try to become interested. So much for that idea.”

Twilight straightened up a bit, her eyes not leaving me and her expression looking like she just couldn’t think of anything to say, but was trying.

“One of my teammates even offered me tickets to the Yankees game,” I continued, “but I turned them down. I just-”

“Wait a minute,” Twilight said suddenly, making me jump a bit. When I looked over at her, I noticed her expression was shock. Her mouth was ajar and her eyes were wide. “You gave up baseball tickets? For me?” I nodded yes. Twilight stood up slowly, her mouth opening and closing. “But...but…” She backed up a little and looked around the room, as if what she wanted to say was hiding within clear sight before looking back at me. “But you love baseball!”

I stood up and moved towards Twilight. Her eyes were still fixated upon me with surprise. When I was inches away from her, I took a deep breath and softly said, “Not as much as I love you, Twilight.”

A small gasp escaped Twilight’s mouth as her eyes grew wider. She and I were frozen on the spot, not looking away from each other. I was so close to her, I could see my reflection in her purple eyes. Those deep, beautiful, violet eyes. Those were the same eyes that enchanted me the first time we met. They haven’t changed at all.

“I love everything about you, Twilight,” I said, gently grabbing her hands. “Always have. When we first met, I didn’t see a polar opposite. I saw a beautiful, smart, loving girl that I had to get to know.” Twilight’s face didn’t change as I spoke. “Maybe before you baseball was my everything, but now?” I placed a hand on her cheek. “You are my priority! I didn’t want our relationship to end because of differences.” I smiled a little bit, hoping that Twilight would follow, but her expression stayed the same. I almost couldn’t read it. My smile fell again as I removed my hand from her cheek and backed away a bit.

I’m sorry, Twilight,” I sighed. “I really did try. I should’ve tried harder to control myself. I deserve whatever scolding you have for me. Go ahead. I can take it.”

I stood there, waiting for her to say or do something. For a minute, she just looked at me, not saying a word. All that moved were her eyes, which were looking over me, almost like she was trying to scan me.

Finally, Twilight closed her mouth, looked at me with a slightly furrowed brow, and started to move towards me. I braced myself for the shouting. Then, just as she was within an inch from me, Twilight threw up her arms, wrapped them around the back of my neck, and planted her lips firmly to mine.

At first, my eyes shot open surprisingly as I looked at Twilight. After a second, I relaxed a bit and returned the gesture, placing my arms around her waist. We stayed like that for a solid minute, but it seemed like an eternity. I didn’t want it to end. When we finally broke the kiss, I opened my eyes to see her smiling at me with tears trickling down her cheeks.

“Huh,” was all I could say, “That’s not what I had in mind, but I’ll take it.”

Twilight giggled softly and wiped her eyes. “Sweetheart, what you did is the sweetest, most caring thing anyone has ever done for me?”

“So, you’re not mad?” I asked. Maybe it was too early to ask, but she didn’t seem to get angered from the question.

“I guess I understand where you were coming from,” she said reassuringly. “I’m not gonna lie; I probably would’ve done the same thing. If you would’ve dragged me to a baseball game, I probably would’ve brought a book and pretend to go to the bathroom a lot.” She then winked jokingly and I laughed.

“And you’re not worried about us not having anything in common?” I asked, my smiled fading a bit.

“Sweetheart,” Twilight replied, putting her arms behind my head again, “you’ve shown today that you care about this relationship so much that you are willing to step out of your comfort zone to try and get into something I love. You gave up baseball tickets for me, for God’s sake!” She then placed a hand on my cheek and smiled wider. “And you know what? I think we do have something in common.”

I tilted my head slightly. “What is that?”

“Our dedication to each other,” she replied softly. “Our ability to not care about our differences and love each other anyway.” Twilight then placed her head on my chest and pulled me into a loving hug. “You’ve shown, though you messed up a bit, that you are willing to sacrifice what you love to make me happy. That’s the kind of dedication that defines a happy, successful relationship.” As she spoke, I could feel myself choking up slightly, and thought I felt a tear start to form in my eye. I looked down at my violet beauty, who looked up at me, her chin still resting on my chest, and smiled sweetly, tears starting to form in her own eyes as well. “As long as we have that, I don’t think this relationship will be ending any time soon.”

Nothing else was needed to be said. That was all it took. Hearing the greatest thing ever from the one I most care about was enough to break the dams in my eyes. I immediately felt the tears start to fall down my cheeks as I smiled widely at Twilight. I quickly wrapped my arms around her, pulled her in as close to me as possible, and rested my head on hers. Twilight hummed happily and we just stood there, lost in each other’s love. I don’t care how cheesy that sounds, it was one of the happiest moments of my life.

“I love you, my adorkable cutie!” I said.

“I love you too, my dumb, handsome jock!” Twilight replied, squeezing me lovingly.

After a few more minutes, we finally separated, though I would’ve stayed like that forever if I could’ve. Twilight and I stared at each other for a few more seconds, smiling from ear to ear, before a sudden thought brought me back into reality. My smiled disappeared immediately.

“Well,” I said with a sigh, “one problem’s solved, but…”

“We’re still trapped in here,” Twilight finished, hanging her head.

“I guess we just go back to the original idea,” I said as I sat down on the boxes again. “We wait until a janitor is needed.” Twilight nodded and scooted her stack of boxes closer to me. “I mean, how long can it take for something to need cleaning up?”

“What time is it?” Twilight asked. I looked at my phone and sighed.

“It’s five minutes since the last time you asked me,” I answered.

“Sorry, sweetheart,” Twilight said, wiping the sweat from her forehead. “It feels so much longer! How long does it take for something to be cleaned up?” I just shrugged and slumped forward, placing my chin in my hands.

It had been an additional 25 minutes since we had made up. We had tried to start up a conversation to pass the time, but that quickly bombed because we just kept switching to the subject of being stuck in a damn closet. Twilight then messed around on her phone for, like, ten minutes, but she stopped after seeing how much battery she had left. My phone wasn’t much farther off, unfortunately. We just ended up sitting in silence once again, though it was nice there wasn’t any uncomfortable tension, but it still didn’t help that much.

What made matters worse was that it was getting hotter and hotter by the minute. Twilight had slightly unbuttoned her shirt, but that didn’t seem to help, there was nothing in the closet to fan ourselves with, and no air that came through. After 25 minutes, it was almost like an actual oven. I tried to ignore it, but that only helped for so long. I wiped my forehead for the 11th time and saw that it literally soaked my arm. That was the final straw.

“That’s it!” I finally snapped. Twilight jumped slightly at the sudden outburst. “I can’t take it anymore!” I then reached down at the hem of my shirt and started pulling it over my head, though it was a bit difficult as it was sticking heavily to my body.

“What’re you doing?” Twilight asked quickly.

“Taking my shirt off,” I replied. After I had finally managed to pull it over my head, I threw my shirt to the side and sighed of relief. “That’s a little better.” Glancing over at Twilight, I then noticed something odd. She was staring at me, and her eyes had grown incredibly wide and her pupils had shrunk to pinpricks. On top of that, her cheeks had turned a bright magenta and it looked like she was sweating even more.

“Hey, you alright, Twi?” I asked concerningly.

Twilight shook her head rapidly and looked away from me, her eyes not changing size. “Yeah. I’m good. I’m really good! Sound as a dollar! Peachy as a...peach! I’m fine!” She glanced back at me and then quickly back to staring at nothing.

Confusion overtook me as I stared at Twilight. The only time I had ever heard her use the phrase, “Sound as a dollar,” was when she was going through one of her nervous phases. It was when she was trying to keep control, but wasn’t doing a good job at hiding it (a large habit she had). I continued to look at her, wondering what was making her so nervous, until I looked down at my own, shirtless body. That’s when it struck me. Twilight was a sophisticated speaker and a brilliant mind, if not a bit quirky at times, but there was one weakness about her that I learned about back when we first started dating.

Twilight had a thing for my muscles.

I know that sounds rather big-headed of me, but it was true. For one reason or another, seeing my well-toned body was a big turn on for Twilight. And this wasn’t the first time this happened either. I learned this from personal experience. About a week after we had officially started dating, I had just gotten out of the shower in my dorm when Twilight came into the room to tell me she had been accepted into the Science Club. She saw me, wearing nothing but a towel, and went beet red. There was a good solid five minutes of staring me over before she left hastily. Later, however, I overheard her talking to her friends on the phone, bragging about going out with a “hunk!”

Suddenly, a devious thought crept into my mind. A playfully devious thought. I turned back to Twilight, who was still trying not to continuously stare at me, and smiled widely. It was time to have some fun with her.

“Well,” I said, standing up, “no use just sitting around doing nothing. I guess I’ll just stretch a little bit. You don’t mind, do you?” Twilight shook her head furiously.

“Not at all. Go ahead. I don’t care. It doesn’t bother me.”

I smiled wider and started to flex my arms out, making sure Twilight had a good view. As I stretched my arms up and down, doing some toe-touches, I would ever-so-often glance up at Twilight, whose eyes were glued to me. I the straightened up and and twisted my midsection slowly. The sweat glistening off my body made everything all the better for Twilight’s show. Speaking of which, the heat of Twilight’s blush had currently spread to her entire face, and her legs soon started to squirm a bit with her hands pressing down on her lap, as if trying to contain a certain growing heat in a certain place.

After another minute of that, it was time to bring it home. I remember Twilight bragging about my abs the most, saying, and I quote, “You could grind meat off those things!” That was my big gun. I then layed down on my back and started to slowly do sit-ups. Of course I made sure I was facing Twilight to give her the best view of my six-pack as it curled up and down, up and down. As I did it, my eyes did not leave Twilight, and vice-versa. We were glued to each other, and it made the moment all the better. Then, as I continued to work, I couldn’t help but notice that Twilight’s legs, that were closed the whole time, started to open up. As I curled up for the 30th time, it was much more noticeable. Twilight had spread her legs for me to view. Not a lot, but just enough for me to spot a hint of dark purple underneath her skirt. I then looked back up at Twilight, and though her expression was the same, she definitely didn’t seem to care that I had seen it.

After a few more sit-ups, I stood up and stretched backward. After straightening up, I looked at Twilight again. Her expression still hadn’t changed, and her eyes were still glued onto me. I waited for a response, but she did nothing but gulp. Concern filled me and I slowly walked up to her.

“Twilight?” I said, waving my hand in front of her face. “Twilight? Hello?” Still nothing. “Are you-”

I was suddenly interrupted by a pair of familiar lips smashing against mine. My eyes widened in surprise. I didn’t even have time to see Twilight pouncing onto me with her arms wrapping around the back of my head. Twilight’s lips continued to assault mine so viciously, you would’ve suspected that she was trying to eat me. My eyes stayed opened, too shocked to close, as I watched Twilight’s head sway back and forth and felt her hands caress the back of my head.

Finally, Twilight pulled away from me, panting loudly. My eyes were still wide open, looking at her. Her tongue was hanging partially out of her mouth, which was slightly ajar. Her eyes were glued to mine, and I noticed an unmistaken shot of lust flashing across her pupils. Then, Twilight finally spoke, with a combination of seriousness and lust in her voice.

“You really are a jerk.” And then, in a split second, she was pressed against my face yet again.

Suddenly, I felt Twilight bend her legs and jump. Instinct took over, and I caught her legs as she wrapped them around my back as she continued her assault. I felt her mouth open wide, and her tongue darted into my own mouth and started to attack my tongue. I was still too shocked for words. I had never seen Twilight like this before. She was so overtaken by lust and desire, that her timidness had completely vanished.

And I loved it!

Deciding that I wasn’t returning the gesture, I pressed my tongue forward, intertwining it with her own. Twilight moaned loudly in my mouth and fought back. Our tongue jousting went on for, what seemed like five minutes, before I pulled away. A small strand of saliva still connected our lips as we parted. Twilight looked at me curiously, her mouth still ajar. I smiled coyly.

“Well, I suppose we need something to do in here to pass the time.”

And, for the first time, Twilight’s mouth formed into a very sultry grin.

As Twilight and I pressed our mouths against each other again, I carried Twilight over to a stack of boxes against the back wall and sat her down. Luckily, the boxes were high enough for Twilight and I to stay almost eye level. I then started to work at the buttons on Twilight’s dress shirt. As I did, I broke apart from Twilight’s lips and started at her neck, planting small kisses on every inch of it. I heard Twilight moan in my ear lustfully. After I had finally reached the bottom button, I flew open the shirt. Twilight was wearing a light purple bra with a small, indigo ribbon in the middle. Too hot to try and work at the hook, I reached my finger behind the ribbon and flicked the whole bra upward, revealing Twilight’s perky and perfectly round, B-cup breasts.

Taking only a second to admire her beauty, I bent downward and latched my mouth onto her right breast, tracing my tongue around her puffy nipple. Twilight’s moans grew louder as she embraced me tighter.

“Mmmmmmm!” Twilight moaned as she bit her lip. “F-fuck! Oh fuck!”

Hearing her talk dirty just made me crave her even more. Deciding to go further, I used my free hand to trail down Twilight’s body until it finally found its destination. I crept it under Twilight skirt and trailed my finger on the outside of her panties. There was already a wet spot where I was caressing. I continued to trace my finger up and down the spot as I heard Twilight gasp loudly.

“Sweetheart,” she whined, “don’t tease me like that!”

I unlatched my mouth from her breast and looked up at my sexy nerd. She was looking down at me, her eyes filled with need. She then glanced down further at something else of mine, trying to fight its way out of my pants. She looked back into my eyes and nodded.

She was ready.

Taking the hint, I took my hand away from her drenched slit and bent down. I took a few seconds to admire and apply small kisses to Twilight’s thighs, which resulted in a small giggle from her. I then reached out and pulled her damp panties off her legs and threw them aside. I then went for the skirt, but Twilight stopped me.

“Leave it,” she said quickly. “Just stick it in me! Please!” The desire in her voice was more than enough for me. I stood back up and started working at my belt and zipper. After my jeans were finally open, I wasted no time in just reaching in and pulling out my rock-hard dick. Twilight cooed happily as I picked her up again and pinned her against the wall. I then lifted her left leg and positioned myself in front of her opening. Looking up at Twilight, she gave me another nod, and I entered.

I had almost forgotten how sensitive she was as she let out a loud, long moan as I pressed further into her. She was tight too, just the way I love it. When her pussy had finally engulfed me, I pulled out halfway and rammed into her a bit harder, which resulted in her giving a short, lustful cry. Her arms then flew up and wrapped around the back of my head as she pulled me closer to her. Smiling sultrily, I started pulling out slowly and forcefully penetrating her again, just how she likes it. With every thrust, Twilight let out a short, but loud cry and her whole body quaked. As I sped up a bit, Twilight's legs wrapped around my waist, pulling me in even closer to her. Her back continuously banged against the wall, but she didn’t mind.

“Oh, sweetheart,” she cried. “Oh yes! Oh yes! Yes! Don’t stop! Please don’t stop!”

Her dirty talk turned me on even more, and I picked up the pace even more. As I did, Twilight’s cries grew louder. Maybe a little too much louder. Not wanting anyone to hear us, I reached up and brought Twilight’s mouth to mine. Our tongues danced as I rammed Twilight, who screamed into my mouth. She wrapped me in closer so our whole bodies were practically glued together. Twilight’s muffled cries and her butt hitting the back wall was all that could be heard.

I could soon feel that Twilight was getting close. Her inner walls were starting to contract around me, and I was not too far behind. Time to finish with a bang! I separated our mouths and Twilight threw back her head and gasped loudly. I then bent my head down and latched once again onto her tits. Twilight’s eyes shot open and another loud gasp escaped her lips.

“Sweetheart, if you keep doing that…”

Taking that as my sign to keep going, I started to circle my tongue around her nipple while massaging her other breast. Twilight bit her lip again to try and keep her screams contained, but to no avail. She was so close. So, so close. Taking another step further, I latched my teeth gently onto her nipple and pinched the other one. Twilight gasped again and pulled me in tighter.

“Oh god!” she cried. “Oh god! I’m gonna...I’m gonna cum! I’m gonna cum! I’M CUMMING!”

At that moment, Twilight threw her head back and screamed as her walls contracted around my dick and flooded it with her juices. That was enough to send me over the edge, and with one final thrust, waves of cum met with Twilight’s juices. Twilight and I stuck together as we rode out our orgasms. It was pure bliss.

After a minute, the excitement died down and Twilight leaned forward, huffing and puffing. Exhausted, I carefully set Twilight back down on the boxes as she rested her head on my shoulder, not letting go of me but pulling me in closer. She and I were covered with sweat, but at this point, I don’t think either of us were focusing on the heat of the day. Only the heat of the moment.

“Well that just happened,” I finally said. I felt Twilight nod in agreement. I then started to pull away to close my pants, but Twilight tightened her grip on me.

“Just a few more minutes,” she said through her panting. “I could stay in your arms forever.” I smiled and wrapped my arms around her lovingly. I heard her hum happily as she nuzzled her head against my neck. She was right; I could stay like that forever. Nothing else mattered but us, and nothing could ruin the moment.

That is until a loud clicking noise on the other side of the door snapped us back into reality.

Twilight’s head instantly shot up and looked at me, absolute panic in her eyes. I wasn’t too far off. Both of our heads whipped around to the door just in time to see it open and for the janitor to walk in. There was no hiding it whatsoever. We were right in the middle of the tiny-ass room! The second he entered, his eyes widened as he caught sight of me, with my back to him, pressed up against Twilight, whose shirt was open and breasts were sticking out, and with her legs wrapped around my waist. The only thing that was missing was a sign on my back that read, “Just Made Whoopie!”

All three of us were frozen, like a deer caught in the spotlight. No one moved. All that was heard was the echo of the crowds outside the corridor.

Then, with a gasp of air, the janitor cried out, “AAIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!” and ran out of the room, yelling frantically at the top of his lungs. I couldn’t exactly tell what the janitor was yelling, it was in Spanish, but something tells me it wasn’t too far off from, “What the hell are two people fucking on cleaning supplies for?” Twilight and I quickly detached ourselves from each other and hurried to get our stuff back on. As Twilight pushed her bra down and buttoned her shirt, I zippered my pants back up and grabbed my own shirt. Then, just like bats outta Hell, we bolted out of the closet, out of the corridor, down the stairs, passed the awkwardly staring patreons, and out the double doors. Not even taking a second to look back, we continued down the stairs and across the street to the car.

When we finally made it back, Twilight leaned against the car, huffing like mad.

“Is anyone following us?” she asked between gasps of air. I looked back at the museum entrance. No security officers were coming out or looking around, so that was a good sign.

“I don’t think so,” I replied. “You wanna go back in and find out?”

“Very funny,” Twilight grumbled sarcastically as she patted her skirt down. Suddenly, a shocked expression appeared on her face. “Oh no.”

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

Twilight looked at me, and I saw that her whole face had turned a deep red. “I left my panties in the closet!”

At first, all grew silent around us as Twilight looked like she might cry. I was about to comfort her, then she started to giggle. I stared at her wildly as that giggle became a chortle, and then just turned into full-on laughter. I then found myself laughing along with her. Soon, our laughters grew louder, until we were almost howling with it.

“D-Did you see t-that guy’s face?” Twilight gasped as she grasped her sides.

“Yeah!” I replied, snorting a bit. “It was like he never saw two people fucking before!”

Before I knew it, Twilight was leaning up against me, tears running down her face with laughter as I followed along. I can’t explain why, and some would call us crazy, but I think that we had finally snapped. After what seemed like half an hour, our laughter finally died down to a few chuckles. Twilight wiped her eyes and looked at me, a smile plastered across her face. I looked back and sighed, my own smile fading a bit.

“I’m sorry, Twilight,” I said. “I know this trip wasn’t what you thought it was gonna be.”

“You’re right,” Twilight replied. “It wasn’t.” I started to hang my head before she grabbed onto me and pulled me into a hug. “It was better!”

“Really?” I asked surprisingly.

“Of course!” Twilight looked up at me, not breaking the hug. “Not only did I get to see most of the exhibits in one of the greatest museums in the country, but I found a renewed love and devotion to you!” She then placed her head back on my chest. “I’d call that a successful trip!” I felt a big smile curl across my face as I hugged my girlfriend back and kissed her head.

“I guess so,” I said happily. After a minute, I broke the hug. “What do you wanna do now?”

“Well,” Twilight looked around at the buildings surrounding us, “we still have another week before break ends. It would be a shame to let the rest of this city go to waste. You want to stay here?”

“That’d be great!” I replied excitedly. “What should we do?”

“Funny you should ask.” Twilight then reached into her bag and pulled out her phone. “Back in the closet, before our little sexy escapade, I was online buying some tickets.”

“Really?” I asked. “For what?”

“Well...I know it’s not your favorite team, but…” she then lifted her phone to my eyes “the Mets are playing on Sunday.”

My eyes instantly went wide and my jaw dropped. “Wait! You got baseball tickets!?” I felt like I had to slap myself to see if I was dreaming. “You hate baseball!”

“But I love you,” Twilight said as she reached up and pecked me on the cheek. “and if you’re willing to step out of your comfort zone, I should too! Just...let me bring a book.”

“Deal!” I said, a big grin spreading across my face yet again. “But the game’s not till Sunday. We still got another full day.”

“We could go sightseeing!” Twilight replied happily. “I’ve always wanted to see the Statue of Liberty!”

“Yeah!” I nodded. “And maybe the Empire State Building!”

“And Central Park!”

“Maybe we could stop by the Manehattan National Library,” I said excitedly with no hesitation, making Twilight’s eyes widen in delight. “I hear they have the biggest collection of books in the country!”

“We could go to one of those sports bars you love so much!” Twilight replied with equal excitement.

“The aquarium has a dolphin show and some great marine biology studies!”

“And we can go to the zoo!”

I stopped and tilted my head in confusion. “Why the zoo?”

“I remember you saying how much you love the bat cages,” Twilight replied. It took a few seconds to realize what she meant before I chuckled heartily.

Batting cages, hun!”

“Those too!” Twilight giggled. We both laughed again and embraced. Her warm body squished close to mine as she hummed happily. It didn’t matter how hot it was outside, I could never grow tired of hugging that girl. If the trip had taught me one thing, it was that my teammates were wrong. Twilight and I weren’t that different when it came to how much we cared for one another and wanted to see the other happy. What more did a truly happy couple need?

I broke the hug a bit and looked into the eyes of my adorkable beauty. “I think you and I are gonna be just fine.”

“Me too, sweetheart,” she replied gleefully. “In the meantime though,” her voice suddenly turned sultry as she pressed harder against me and traced circles on my chest with her finger, “why don’t we find a hotel and...go for round two?” She then winked seductively.

“Twilight!” I gasped, both surprised and delighted. “When did you become so frisky?”

“I guess you can say that I,” Twilight giggled a little, “came out of the closet!” She then snorted with laughter. I just stared at her with nothing but adoration and an undying love that nothing, and I do mean nothing, could ever destroy.

What else could I say, but, “God I love you!”
