A Night to Remember

“The End.”

Pinkie Pie put down the book and looked at the peacefully asleep babies. She had to admit that Twilight was right. The best way to calm down Pound and Pumpkin was reading them a nice story; even if Pinkie had problems trying to stay in focus while narrating. Pinkie gave the foals their good night kiss and left the room, finally letting herself yawn in the hallway. She loved the babies but they were a lot of work so she hoped the Cakes will return from their business trip soon. Just when she was about to go to her own bed she hear a knock in the door. How could this be at these late hours? She opened the door and terrible vision was awaiting there.

“AHHHHH!!! Nightmare Moon!!!!”

“Neigh, Pinkamena! It is u- I mean, it´s me, Princess Luna! Please, stop!” Pinkie was too busy running around Lyra-style to pay her attention. “I said…BE STILL!!!!!”

The ominous thunder did the trick.

“Oh, it´s you Princess Luna!”

“Yes, Pinkamena now please, be calm. I came here as a friend.”

“What a relief! I thought you were here to gobble me up!”

“Neigh, we nev-umh, I mean, I´m here to thank you.”

“Thank me? For what?”

“Remember last week, when you helped me perform a umh trick on my sister?”

“Oh yeah, that prank we did to Celestia! HAHAHA! Is she doing better now?”

“Yes, her mane is slowly growing back and she is no longer mad!”

“Well, that’s good. This summer has been particularly hot.”

“Yes so Pinkamena…I wanted to show my gratitude by taking you somewhere…”

“Somewhere? Where?” Due to the darkness Pinkie couldn’t see the Princess clearly but she seemed to be…blushing?

“it’s a secret so I need you to promise not to peek.”

“Oki-doki-loki!”

“Pinkie Promise!”

Once the Princess was satisfied she carried Pinkie on her forelegs and took off. Pinkie couldn’t resist to peek a little but all she saw were the clouds below them.

“Pinkamena…”

“Sorry sorry!”

Finally the Princess landed and allowed Pinkie to open her eyes. Once she did she witness the most colorful and spectacular sight of all. A radiant hall where the ceiling was the night sky, filled with every single star all bright and colorful.

“What’s this?”

“Its my palace. As you know, I do not live in Canterlot.” Pinkie put on a “I- had-no-idea” expression. “So here´s where I sleep during the day and create the stars for the night.”

“Hu hu you´re just like Twilie, princess!”

The princess blushed again, this time more clearly. She also seemed…smaller. “Look over there, Pinkamena. At that group of stars, just on the right side.”

“Its…a smile! It’s a big shining smile in the sky!”

“Yes, that’s my gift to you! You inspired me to create a signal on the sky that will represent THE JOY THAT BRINGS ALL PONIES TOGETHER IN HARMONY!!! Oh, my apologies!”

“HAHAHA you´re so funny, Princess!”

“…you found me funny, Pinkamena?”

“Yes! You are the funnier of my friends!”

The Princess then looked sad. “So, I´m merely a friend to you…”

“Princess?”

“I´m sorry Pinkamena, it seems I have misunderstood you. The Equestrian language has changed too much in these past millennium. You see, last week you said you were…fond of me and as I understand it, fond means…”

“Means what?”

“It means romantic interest.”

The Princess turned her face away, the room suddenly turned darker, preventing Pinkie from reading her expression but she knew it was one of sadness and defeat. Pinkie slow grabbed her chin and turned her face so their eyes will meet.

“Princess…I am fond of you.”

“You…are?”

“You are the only pony who actually listens to me. Most ponies get frustrated because I can never explain myself but you have the patience to bear with me and of that…I´m very fond.”

The Princess smiled, her face radiating as much as the stars in the sky. Pinkamena smiled too and slowly turned those two smiles into one fond kiss.

“Woah Pinkie, that’s certainly a umh interesting story” Twilight said.

“Interesting? It was wonderful!” Pinkie was beaming with happiness.

“I´m glad you have fun in you birthday after all, since you have to cancel your party to foalsit the twins.”

“Fun? That wasn’t fun! That was…enchanting!”

Twilight giggled at the sight of the love struck Pinkie and escort her to the door. Just when she left a heavy object crashed against the floor.

“SPIKE!” the little dragon slowly crawled from under the fake start, apologizing for his lack of strength. “Be more careful. What if Pinkie had found out?”

“Relax Twilight, my impression was flawless! She would never guess in a million years!” Rainbow Dahs proudly announced while hovering down.

“To give credit where credit is due, Rainbow…You only did the flight part. The real credit should go to Fluttershy for doing that excellent impression of the Royal Canterlot Voice.” Rarity said.

“Oh no, it was nothing. I still think you should had done the Princess voice, Rarity.” The timid pegasus said.

“Oh I could never pull that off. But the crown and accessories for the Princess disguise, that’s more my cup of tea! Not to mention all would have fail have not been for Twilight excellent script!”

“Thanks Rarity but to be fair I was terrible nervous. We already screw up her last birthday so I´m glad everything worked out great this time and for that I have to thank you Applejack!”

The farm pony was distracted looking at her hat so she only muttered a soft “What?”

“Your performance. The illusion spell merely tricks the eyes but it can´t trick nor the ears or the umh touch. I´m glad you accept to do the last part because I was too nervous to do it myself!”

“Oh it was…nothing. I´m just happy it went so well.”

“Oh so you’re happy, uh?”

“Stop teasing her Rainbow! Applejack is merely saying she is happy to help a friend, right Applejack?” Rarity said.

“Yes…everything for a friend.”
