Chapter 6: Chapter 6: The Weekend

Previous Chapter

It was the beginning of a new day it was a nice Saturday morning in Canterlot City, in Spike's house he was sleeping soundly, completely content in resting for the rest of the day, that is until the alarm clock went off with a noisy sound.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

"Ugh." Spike groaned as he turned it off, getting up with a yawn he saw the time read 8:00 A.M.

"Might as well go get some breakfast." he said getting off his bed changing out of his PJ's and into his normal clothes, he then went into the kitchen, he was able to get some bread yesterday and made himself a sandwich with a glass of milk as he was eating he couldn't help but think.

'Ah A Saturday, one of the few days where my life isn't full of stress, now I just need to figure out what to do, I can't just keep myself in here, hmm...well if I'm gonna live in this place might as well be more familiar with it.'

At that Spike finished his meal and went out to get to know his new environment better.

Spike figured the best route would be around town so he went to the more social part, he mostly tried to look like another face in the crowd. He'd check out the places where people hang out the most then the more private parts of town. He was walking in a busy street.

'Man I know cities are supposed to have a lot of people but it looks like this one has no limit.' Spike thought astonished by the multitude of people he saw. His attention was then directed to a bake shop nearby. He walked his way to it.

"Sugarcube Corner." he read, looking at the sign. Looking through the window, he saw all the tasty looking sweets it had.

"Woah, I guess a good snack break wouldn't hurt." at that he went in.

Once inside he saw that the occupants in it was massive he even recognized a few kids from school.

"(Whistle) This place is packed."he commented. He walked over to the counter and tapped on the bell.

"Be right there!" a familiar voice called out.

"Wait is that..." he wondered. His suspicions were confirmed when he saw that it was Pinkie Pie.

"Welcome to Sugarcube Corner can I take you-" she stopped mid-sentence as she saw Spike.

"Spike?" she asked surprised

"Pinkie?" he asked back.

"What are you doing here?" they both asked in unison

"I just stopped by to get a snack. Why are you here?" he asked her.

"Well duh, it's pretty obvious that I work here." she explained gesturing to her work uniform.

"Oh heh right." he said sheepishly.

"So what'll it be?" she asked ready to take his order.

"Guess I'll have just one cupcake." he said plainly.

"Coming right up!" she said as she went to the baking room and immediately came back.

"Here you go."

"Wow thanks, that was pretty quick." he commented paying her the money

"Yeah I make sure my customers get their orders as soon as possible that's why I'm the most valued employee."

"Huh. Talk about commitment to your job."

"You know it. So got any plans later?"Pinkie asked.

"Just strolling around town, taking in the sights and all that."he shrugged.

"Would you like some company? she asked hoping he'll say yes.

"Tempting, but i'm sticking by myself. he said.

"You sure? Trust me I've know this town inside and out and even sideways, I've been to the mall, city hall, the dump."Pinkie listed.

"Thanks but, wait why were you at the dump?" Spike asked giving her a weird look.

"Uh not collect empty bottles to put on my fingers, if that's what you're thinking." Pinkie said darting her eyes left to right.

"Okay then, thanks but I just want a little privacy you know?" Spike reasoned.

"If you say so."Pinkie said a little dejected.

"Well, see you later." Spike said paying her the money and went off.

After exciting from Sugarcube Corner, Spike's next stop was the park. It was like any other park he's seen, it had a playground, a water fountain, a few benches. There were a few people in it, they were just minding their own business, nothing big happening which was okay for Spike.

'Quiet, has wide open space, looks I know where to go if I need some alone time' he thought. Spike was strolling through the park, enjoying the quiet atmosphere, until...

"Gang way!" a female voice called out, Spike turned around and saw a speeding scooter speeding towards him, he jumped and leaped over the scooter, he then saw that the scooter wasn't stopping and that the rider was out of control, he ran to it, and jumped to the rider, getting her off the runaway scooter, which crashed into a tree.

"Whew! That was a close one." Spike said panting. "Hey, you alright?" he asked the rider. She was a girl his age with light gamboge skin and purple hair, she was wearing a black hoodie green shorts, and black boots.

"Oh man...what?" she groaned, opening her eyes and saw who saved her, looking at his eyes, her cheeks started started to go red. "Uh, yeah I'm fine thanks." Spike got up and offered his hand, she gladly took it and he helped her up.

"Looks like your scooter's busted." Spike observed looking at it.

"No prob, I got a spare back home, guess a wheel was a bit loose. By the way I'm Scootaloo." she greeted.

"Spike." he greeted back.

"Scoots!" a voice called out.

"Rainbow Dash, I'm over here." Scootaloo called back.

"Rainbow Dash?" Spike repeated. He tuned to the direction Scootaloo was looking and saw that it was indeed the same Rainbow Dash he knew from yesterday.

"Scootaloo, you okay?" Rainbow asked in worry.

"Don't worry I'm fine, thanks to him." she said gesturing to Spike.

"Spike?" Rainbow asked in mild shock.

"Hey RD." Spike greeted.

"You two know each other?" Scootaloo asked.

"Yeah, we met yesterday, he's the new student that I was telling you about." Rainbow explained.

"Wait, so you mean he's...you know." Scootallo said inching her head towards him.

'What?" Spike asked confused.

"It's nothing, I just told her how you and I ended a soccer match in a tie." Rainbow told him.

"Uh, right right, Rainbow Dash never lost to anyone in soccer so it's kinda amazing that one game was a tie , you must be really good." said Scootaloo.

"It's nothing really." Spike waved off.

"Nothing? I'm guessing that sweet jump you did when the scooter was gunning towards you was also nothing? " Rainboe said skeptically.

"Yeah well, I'm just glad no one got hurt, well bye." he said walking away.

"Hold up, why not hang with us, we know some sweet sights around here." Rainbow offered.

"That's a great idea!" exclaimed Scootaloo loving the idea, and then composed herself. "I mean if you want , totally cool if you don't want to."

"Sorry ladies, maybe when I have time." said Spike as he walked away.

"That guy sure likes to play the loner thing, nonetheless he's cool, right Scoots?" asked Rainbow, when she didn't hear an answer, she saw that Scootallo was staring at Spike as he walked, and had a smile on her face.

"Huh? Oh yeah, he's definitely cool." Scootaloo said, blushing a bit.

"Right then, come on, let's get that spare scooter. " Rainbow said. With that the two walked off.

Spike would have made it to his next destination if the rumbling of his stomach hadn't made him take a slight break, he was too far to get back to Sugarcube Corner, so he had nowhere else to go. He decided to ask a few people if there was any place to eat.

"Oh yeah, Sweet Apple Acres isn't far from here, just keep going that way." A random teen told him.

"Got it, thanks man." said Spike, he went to the direction the guy pointed to and arrived at a huge orchard filled with countless apple trees as far as he could see, there was a barn, so there had to be workers, he went through the entrance and took in the sights.

'Wow, the farmers here must have great soil.' he thought. He saw one of the workers nearby and walked towards her.

"Excuse me, there anything to eat around here?" he asked.

"Sure thing, what'll it-" she started before turning to see who it was. "Spike?"

"Applejack? You work here?" Spike asked.

"Work here? Hon I work and live here." answered Applejack. "You said you wanted a bite?"

"Yeah, got anything?"

"Yer in luck, we got a freshly baked batch of apple pie. Come on it's in the barn."

"It's okay I can just wait here."

"I will have none of that, Ah was taught to show hospitality to everyone especially mah friends, come on the pies are waiting." said Applejack, taking Spike's hand, together they both went inside the farmhouse, once they went to the kitchen, he saw an elderly women at the stove, Spike instantly recognized her as one of the lunch ladies from school.

"Granny Smith, Ah got a friend who's in the mood for some apple pie." said Applejack.

"Well pull up a tab;e and get ready to enjoy yourself youngin', the Pie will be ready in just a sec." said Granny. Spike and Applejack took seats at the table and made small talk.

"So, your grandmother works a school." said Spike.

"Yeah, everyone there sure loves the food she makes." Applejack told him.

"Must be embarrassing at times, huh?"

"No not at all...well actually at times yes, but she means well, besides you can always count on family." That comment made Spike look dejected for a moment, but quickly composed himself before she could notice.

"Alright kids, here's some apple pie." Granny Smith said handing two pies to both of them. Applejack eagerly ate hers, Spike looked at his for a moment, before taking one bite out of the pie, and instantly smiled in bliss.

"Woah, this is really great." he said enjoying the taste.

"Thank ya kindly sonny." Granny Smith said with a smile. After finishing the pie, they heard a truck pull over.

"That must be Big Mac and Applebloom." said Applejack.

"Who?" asked Spike.

"My big brother and little sister, they were running some errands."'she explained. The three went out and saw an older teenage male, with light red skin, with orange hair, moderate sap green eyes, wearing a red unbuttoned shirt over a white undershirt, blue jeans, and brown shoes, next to him was a girl about his age, with pale olive skin, with red hair tied up in a bow, tangelo eyes, was wearing a plain yellow shirt, and shorts.

"Hey you guys, ya got everything?" Applejack asked her siblings.

"Eeyup." Big Mac answered in his deep voice.

"Sure did." said Applebloom, she then noticed Spike. "Hey, aren't you that new student?" she asked him.

"Yeah, pretty much." answered Spike.

"Spike here stopped by for something to eat." Applejack explained. Big Mac went to the trunk and lifted the cargo. Applebloom followed after him.

"Let me help you Big Mac." she said.

"Careful little sister, might be too heavy for ya." Applejack warned.

"Don't worry sis, I...ugh...git this." Applebloom said, trying to to lift the crate, only to have a lot of difficulty doing so.

"I got it." Spike said, going over to her, and lifting the crate effortlessly carrying the crate for her.

"Oh wow...uh thanks." Applebloom said in awe.

"Huh, yer stronger than ya look." said Applejack in slight surprise.

"I...work out sometimes." Spike said, lifting a few more crates, drawing a few awed looks from the Apple family, especially from the sisters, with Applebloom slightly blushing.

"Where do you want these?" he asked Granny Smith.

"You can just put 'em down son, we can handle the rest." Granny answered, snapping out of her shock.

"Well, bye nice meeting you all." said Spike heading off.

"Well he seemed like a nice child." commented Granny.

"Eeyup."

"That he was." Applejack said.

"Definitely." Applebloom said. 'Not to mention kinda cute.'

As Spike walked, he wondered where he should go next, he already checked out the other eating joints, and other hangouts around town, he then spotted a few students he vaguely recognized from school leaving what looked like some kind of Fashion store. Since he had nowhere left to go, he decided to go in. Opening the door, he also rung the bell.

"On my way!" said a female voice. The owner tuned out to be Rarity. "Welcome to the Carousel Boutique how may I help-Spike?"

"Rarity?" he asked.

"Darling, how wonderful it is to see you! What brings you by?" she asked.

"Nothing important, I'm just walking around town. So...nice place you got here." said Spike.

"Why thank you darling, I convinced Mother and Father if I could open one up, needless to say it took a while but eventually they saw how well I can run a shop, and well here we are." explained Rarity. Before the two of them could continue they heard a crashing sound.

"What the?" asked Spike

"Oh Sweetie Belle!" The two went to the back and saw a few mannequins on the floor covered in paint, a few torn up dresses. The one was responsible was about Spike's age, she hard light gray skin, brilliant sap green eyes, mulberry eyes with pale rose highlights and was wearing a yellow skirt, covered by a pink minidress over a striped T-shirt, she was smiling very nervously.

"Hey Rarity..." she said sweating a little.

"I take it she's your younger sister." Spike guessed.

"Yes, unfortunately." answered Rarity. "Sweetie Belle, what did you do this time." she asked in outrage.

"I was just knitting something and went to get some paint and then well..." Sweetie Belle gestured to the mess.

"Why must you constantly do things like this?"

"Hey Rarity take it easy, it was an accident, could've happened to anyone else." Spike defended.

"I suppose you're right." Rarity said calming down a bit. "I guess we'll clean up later. Rarity then thought of something.

"Spike, could I ask a favor out of you?" she asked batting her eyelashes with a sweet smile and giving him bedroom eyes.

"Um, what would that be?" he asked blushing a little bit.

"I have a few new suit ideas, I've been working on, would you be a dear and maybe try one of them one?" Rarity asked sweetly.

"Uh...sure."

"Splendid! It's right behind those curtains." Spike went behind the curtains and took a few moments to change.

'Man, the things a guy is willing to do for an attractive girl.' he thought.

"Are you finished yet darling?" Rarity asked.

"Almost...and done." Spike, said as steeped out of the curtains, he was wearing a fancy black tuxedo that looked something from a spy movie, he also had a top hat on for show, he looked a little unsure. Rarity and Sweetie Belle on the other hand definitely approved.

"OH...MY...GOODNESS!" exclaimed Rarity with glee, she ran over and cupped his face with her hands. "Just look at you, you look simply adorable, my little Spikey-Wikey!" she said, giving him a hug.

'Spikey-Wikey!?'

"Sweetie Belle, doesn't he look simply dashing?" Rarity asked her sister. Sweetie Belle was looking at Spike with wide eyes, taking in his appearance, and she certainly agreed, evident by the blush adorning on her face.

"Uh-Huh." she mumbled.

"Can I change now, I gotta be somewhere else." asked Spike awkwardly.

"Oh of course darling. But first a picture" said Rarity pulling out her phone and taking a picture of him. Spike went back to the curtains ad changed back into his normal clothes.

"Bye for now girls." said Spike, walking through the exit.

"Oh he is just so cute." Rarity said blushing. 'Human, dog, or dragon, he's adorable either way.'

After leaving, Spike casually walked down the road, thinking of where else should he go, he was snapped out of his thoughts when he saw a brown dog running very quickly.

"Woah, hold up little fella.' said Spike, as he knelt down to stop it. "What are you doing out here by yourself, hmm no name tag." he observed checking its neck.

"Cuddles, where are you?" Someone called out. Spike looked up and saw Fluttershy, she then looked his way and noticed the dog. "Spike, you found him!" she exclaimed running over to them.

"Fluttershy, is this dog yours?" Spike asked her.

"Hm? Oh no, he belongs in the animal shelter, 'Cuddles' is just the name I gave him." she explained.

"Ah." he nodded.

"Hey, is it okay if you walk back with with me..." asked Fluttershy, blushing.

"Well, uh...

"I mean if it's alright with you, it's perfectly fine if you don't want to..."

"Fluutershy..."

"You probably have other stuff to do, I don't want to intrude in your business..."

"It's really no trouble..."

"Maybe I should just go, I don't wanna be any bother..."

"Fluttershy! I'll go with you." said Spike.

"R-Really?" she stammered surprised.

"Yeah, as long as you're up for it."

"Well, yes I am." she said. With that they both went to the animal shelter with Cuddles being carried by Fluttershy. It was a 4 minute walk until they reached it.

"So, you work part-time here?" he asked.

"Yeah, you wouldn't believe how many animals I find abandoned out on the streets, I found Cuddles in an alley, all alone. Can you imagine being all alone, with no family to watch over you?" she asked rhetorically, rubbing Cuddles's back. Spike looked at the dog with empathy.

"I have a pretty good idea." he muttered.

"What was that?" she asked.

"Uh nothing. You need help with anything else?" he asked her, hoping to change the subject.

"Well, it is time for the animals' feeding." she responded.

"Okay, I can help with." said Spike.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

Spike and Fluttershy proceeded to enter the shelter, and tended to each of the animals. Some of them were a bit difficult to handle, most notably a mischievous bunny, after a few minutes every animal was resting save for one, it was a pitbull that was growling.

"Oh dear, Manny's acting up again." said Fluttershy in worry.

"He's always like this?" asked Spike.

"Manny kinda has a temper, sometimes it's hard even for me to calm him down, but deep down I know he just needs to see that I can be trusted." Fluttershy said.

"You really love animals don't you?" observed Spike, he kinda admired her for being so compassionate.

"Of course, sure some them may come off as intimidating, but I believe that they just want to be left alone, that's all." she reasoned.

'That I can totally get.' Spike thought. He then came up with an idea, it was a little risky, but he figured it was worth a shot. He walked over to Manny and moved his hand towards him.

"Spike-"

"It's alright, I got this." he assured. Manny was looking at Spike growling, until he looked him in the eyes, at that moment Manny actually started to calm down, he lowered his head, welcoming Spike's gesture. Spike proceeded to rub his head soothingly.

"There see? I'm not gonna hurt you." Spike told him, Fluttershy looked on in shock.

"Wow, other than me he's never acted that way to strangers." she said.

"Guess you're not the only one who's good with animals." he quipped causing her giggle.

"No, I guess not. Well that's enough for today." she said.

"In that case, I'm off." he told her.

"Are you sure it's starting to get late." she said looking out the window.

"It's cool, I'l be alright, later Flutters." he said, walking out.

"Bye." she waved.

The sun was beginning to set, Spike new that he had to finish his sight-seeing soon, though he contemplated whether he should make one last stop or just turn in for the day. He then took notice of what looked life the public Library, now that he thought about it it was the only place he didn't visit, since he was sidetracked a few times, he probably didn't have any time to go. Deciding he would make one last stop before going home, Spike went to the library and went inside. It was quite large compared to the library from school. He was snapped out of his musings by two voices calling his name.

"Spike!" he turned and saw it was Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer.

"Oh it's you two, what's up?" he greeted.

"Nothing much, I was just helping Twilight pick out a few books, what about you?" Sunset asked him.

"I mostly have been seeing parts of the city all day, the library's the last stop, ran into the rest of girls along the way." explained Spike.

"So now you ran into us, huh what are the odds? Anyway I got one more book to pick out, but it's high up on a shelf, since I'm carrying the books, Sunset volunteered to climb up a ladder to get it, bu we need someone to hold it." Twilight told him.

Spike remembered how he helped some of the girls earlier, he figured that it was only right that he also helped out with this.

"Maybe I could hold the ladder." he said.

"Really?" Sunset asked in surprise.

"Yeah, I've been doing favors nearly all day, might as well help you two with something." he reasoned. Twilight and Sunset were grateful for his offer and accepted it. Spike followed them to where the shelf was, Sunset climbed up the ladder they beforehand, while Spike held the ladder as he said.

"Okay steady Spike, I almost got it." Sunset told him.

"Don't worry, I got this." he assured her. Soon enough, Sunset found the book they were looking for.

"So Twilight that's a lot of books you have, what you have some assignment from school you're working on or something?" he asked.

"Oh no, I'm just interested in these." she answered.

"Really, you have like 10 books, you might as well pull off from sleep for a while." he commented

"It's alright, reading is basically my favorite hobby." she said.

"Alright, I have the book-woah!" she exclaimed as she lost her footing.

"Sunset!" Twilight exclaimed. Sunset was falling down and would've landed on the floor, if Spike hadn't acted fast and caught her, along with the book. He then looked at her.

"You alright?" he asked.

"Um f-fine, thanks for the save." Sunset said, a blush beginning to appear on her face.

"That was way too close, nice catch Spike." complimented Twilight "Uh you can put her down now."

"What?" they asked in unison. They noticed that he was still carrying her in bridal-style.

"Oh! Heh sorry uh here's the book." he said blushing a little bit, he put her down and handed her the book he caught.

"It's alright." she said also a little red in the face. "Nice job catching the book, you have fast reflexes." she complimented.

"Thanks, I should probably get going now, I'll be seeing you." he said walking off.

"Yeah, bye." she waved, she couldn't help but stare at Spike as he left. She was snapped out of her daze by Twilight nudging her.

" You okay?" she asked."

"Yeah, of course." she answered.

After leaving the library, Spike decided it was now time to go back to his house, he's done enough sight-seeing for one day, it took about 20 minutes but he made it back. Since it was so late he waled upstairs and collapsed on his bed.

'Well that about clears up today. Still though It was kinda nice seeing those girls again, for as long as I could remember no one has ever tried to make friends with me, not that I mind just that it rarely ever happen.' he thought.

Yes, it certainly did astound him, Spike never tried to make friends before, either because he didn't want to or no one bothered to try, nevertheless he had to admit those 7 girls were alright. He wouldn't say that he considers them BFFS now or anything just that he wouldn't mind hanging with them only if he's actually up for it that .
