A Valus rising
Chapter 25: Battle of the north
Previous Chapter"Reinforce the left flank!" I yelled to my troops. Sombra had begun his attack five hours ago, an hour after I killed Shining Armor. "Do not let them get to the palace!"
"Sir!" one of my soldiers replied before heading to the left side of the defenses around the crystal palace.
"Where the hell are Dainn's forces!?"
"North side, sir!"
"Tell them to get their asses down south, their's no activity up there right now!"
"Yes sir!"
"Valus, the right flank is failing!"
"Damn it," I muttered. "Hold the line, I'm heading there myself!"
"Sir!"
With that, I activated my suit thrusters, and made my way to the Empire's right side, the only defensive area that had both resistance and Caribou forces, and I couldn't tell who they were fighting more: my troops-mainly the mares- keeping the Caribou away, or the whole group killing Sombra's crystal forces. I swear, even in the face of slavery, the dumbasses continue to surprise me.
Rolling my eyes, I landed in front of them, crushing a crystal soldier under my boot. "Form up. If I hear of any Caribou that continue with what you were doing, I will personally kill you like I killed Shining Armor!"
This got both sides to begrudgingly work together, the caribou out of fear and mine out of respect for my word, though I had no illusion it would last after this alliance.
I was brought out of that thought when something sent me flying after i barely registered a large mass striking me. I hit the ground, bounced of fit, and hit the ground again, leaving a trail in the ground. I looked up, my body having a slight ache as my muscles moved, and saw, a small crystal dragon destroying the right flank. "Fucker," I muttered as I got up, fired a small salvo of missiles at the dragon to weaken it, and ignited my thrusters to send me flying towards its face, and, using my mauler, I hit the dragon's skull with enough force to make it cave.
Just as the head was sent away, I felt something hit my back, and I fell to he ground, landing front first. I got up, the fall barely doing anything to me, and looked behind me, seeing Sombra and, to my surprise, Harmony standing behind him, a small smile on her face. Out of the corner of my eye, I also saw a peice of rock just hovering in the air. "What the?" I said, both to the fact Harmony was there, and the rock.
"Hello, Mau'ual," Harmony said, walking in front of Sombra. "I'm surprised you were able to make an alliance between the Caribou and Rebellion."
"They're a Resistance," I quickly said.
Harmony chuckled. "Of course they are," she said. "Tell me, Mau'ual: which do you think has more order: dark magic, or normal magic?"
"Why the question?" I replied.
"Just curious."
I looked at her with my eyes half-lidded. "Normal magic," I replied. "Dark magic corrupts the mind. The normal type doesn't."
"That doesn't surprise me," she said. "Most think that."
A few seconds of silence passed before I asked, "Why freeze time?"
"So I could do this without dealing with interruptions by your forces," she replied before snapping her fingers, and a cage formed around me as I felt myself grow. "A shame. I hoped you'd do this quickly. Not draw it out and cause even more chaos. I suppose i would have been better off letting Dainn rule." She shrugged. "I guess Sombra will have to do."
"What are you on!?" I asked, punching one of the cage bars, surprised that I did not even dent it.
"To learn Dark magic, one must have a strong mind," Harmony said. "There's a reason why I revived Sombra."
"You revived him?!"
"Yes, did you not hear that?" she asked. "I. Revived. Sombra."
"So you'd condemn the world to slavery?"
"If it meant bringing what I personify to this world, yes," she said.
"Slavery is harmony!?"
"No," she replied. "It'll bring a hierarchy that is clear, and harsh punishment to those who go against it. It'll bring a form of order." Smiling, Harmony walked to me cage, and I saw that I was at the cannonical size of the original Ma'ual, as I towered over Harmony. "That is what I am, Mau'ual. Not my dead fool of a sister. Not Harmony. Order. Have fun in my home. Your new prison." With that, she snapped her fingers, and the Empire vanished, and I was now in a lavish mansion. Before I could do anything, I heard voices in my head, with not a single one of my thought being audible over the voices.
The Crystal Empire
Order looked behind her as time resumed to Sombra. "Do whatever you wish to those who resist you, Sombra," she said. "Just make sure they are put down quickly." She snapped her fingers. "One less alicorn for you to deal with. I hope the next I see you, it is with you being victorious." With that, the goddess vanished, leaving Sombra and his forces to ravish the Empire and those within.
Author's Notes:
I know, I know, not the best story ending, but I feel I had to finish this soon in preparation for what I have planned with my Displaced, the groundwork of which has already been set in my Warframe Displaced. So, yeah. The hero is defeated, the true villain is revealed, yadda yadda, I will announce when the next story with Mau'ual is out. Until then, everyone.
