Chapter 1: Start your quest

Princess Luna sat down on her balcony, overlooking the land bellow her that was lit by her beautiful moonlight. Beside her sat Rainbow Dash, one of the elements of harmony. Both of them had frowns on their faces, it had been a few days since their shared coltfriend, Metal Sonic, had left on his latest adventure. Both of them missed him terribly, as did most of the night guard. During his stay at the castle Metal had managed to earn the respect of the Thestrals by defeating Luna in a one on one fight in the dreamscape. He had also made Luna's night court more entertaining by doing a bunch of random things when he got bored. Over time he managed to capture the Night Princess's heart.

Rainbow had met him shortly after he had awoken from his ten year stasis, he challenged her to a race in order to test his speed. That ended up with Rainbow crashing into a mountain face first, after she had recovered they both ended up crashing into a hill outside of Ponyville. They had many more races and challenges, considering each other rivals. Up until Metal had agreed to preform in a Thestral theatre, after his performance Rainbow started questioning her feelings for the metal hedgehog. After a brief discussion with Fluttershy she was able to come to terms with her newfound love for Metal.

Shortly after both mares found out about the others feelings which then started a full on war, Metal being the battlefield. One night after recovering from a hangover, Metal figured out how he could have both mares. One was asleep during the day and another at night, Metal didn't need sleep at all. After getting the mares to agree and apologise for their behaviour, Metal had one less thing to worry about.

During this time he met another displaced robo-hog, a Mecha Sonic that goes by the name Gale. The two quickly became friends and visit each other often. Soon after Metal met another displaced, a Slenderwoman named Lisa who had been dating Gale. Metal has one specific weakness, he hates seeing girls upset or sad. So when Lisa told him that her world had either been destroyed or lost he didn't last long before he offered to find her world.

He managed to find the broken portal to her world but pieces of it had been scattered around the multiverse. This resulted in him accepting the task of finding the missing components. After preparing for the journey into the central hub if the multiverse Metal jumped through the portal and has yet to be heard from.

Luna looked over to the tired Rainbow Dash. "Miss Dash, you should really sleep, you haven't slept in two days." She stated in a worried voice.

"N-No, I'm fine...*yawn*...I'll just sit here with you." Luna rolled her eyes and cast a sleep spell on the rainbow haired mare, sending her off soundly into a deep slumber. Luna levitated Rainbow over to her bed and put her under the covers before returning to the balcony.

Looking out at a familiar floating cloud home far off high in the sky she smiled. "It still amazes me how Metal was able to create such a magnificent Sky Palace for himself." She remembered the times that Metal had spent with her there either playing video games or using one of his many mirror portals to travel to places he called 'zones', her favourite being Ice Cap Zone. "I wonder what Metal is up to right now." She said to no one in particular as she stared at her partner's home in the sky

Meanwhile in the multiverse central city

The city that housed the greatest displacers and displaced was lit beautifully by its glowing neon buildings. Happy faces on everyone that walked through its magnificent streets. In the centre of this great city there was a huge building with lines of neon energy flowing out of it and into various portals in the air around it. The building was mainly comprised of large red and pink crystals. Outside of the giant entrance lay a large fountain that didn't have water flowing out of it, it had a black liquid that gave off an Image of deep space. The sky above the city was black with the tiniest tint of red, making the city seem dark and only lit by the glowing buildings.

A cloaked figure walked up the crystal steps and through the large doors which had people and various other creatures coming in and out constantly. The figure moved along with the crowd until he came to a desk with a crystalic humanoid creature.

"Hello, what can I do for you?" The figure reached around to its rear and grabbed a piece of paper and handed it to the creature.

"I need a pass into the backstreet territories, I have urgent business in the universes there." The figure voice was robotic but not at all monotone, giving more of a feel of a young man. The creature looked over the paper and nodded.

"Ok sir, I'm just going to need some details." The creature handed the figure a form to fill out. "Please take your time." The figure picked up a pen and began to fill out the form. "Alright, I'm just going to need a copy of your token." The figure handed him a large gold ring. "Oh, a Sonic The Hedgehog displaced huh? Don't really see a lot of them in the main hub these days, not too popular with the backstreet gangs other than a few."

"Is that so?" The creature nodded.

"So, what business do you have in the backstreet territories?" The figure handed him the filled out form.

"A few portal shards got scattered around there, I promised the displaced of that word I'd get them back."

"That wouldn't have anything to do with that crazy displacer Xram would it?"

"Yeah, from what I know anyway. I actually helped in defeating Xram, although I didn't do a whole lot." The creature just gasped.

"You were there?" The figure nodded. "That means you saw that kid of that displacer Author right?" It nodde again. "Man, you must be really lucky to have your universe all the way out in that separate multiverse. A lot less crazed displacers and displaced out there."

"Yeah, but we have to deal with stuff like Xram and The Nighmare Fuels(1)." The creature looked over the form and its eyes widened.

"You're one of Authors displaced?" He said in an excited voice that was almost shouting.

"Keep that quiet, I don't need trouble when I'm looking for the shards." The creature nodded and filed the form and placed the token in a capsule. He then walked through a door and came out several seconds later with a glowing green card.

"Here ya go, green-level entrance pass." The figure nodded and took the card. "I wish you luck, Metal Sonic." The figure pulled down its hood and revealed the face of Metal Sonic.

"Thank you." With that Metal began walking out of the central building. He took off the cloak and put it in his storage, now freely walking about in his true form. "Now, let's get down to business."

Chapter 2: Backstreets

As Metal was approaching the border gates to the backstreet territories, he felt a vibration come from his storage. He pulled out a circular object and clicked a button in the centre, causing its four pieces to spread out and create a tablet. An image came up on the screen and a video chat notice came up. Clicking on the 'answer' option the screen switched to a man in a white coat and spiky black hair.

"Hey Author, what's up?"

"I just wanted to check in with you and make sure you have everything under control."

Metal nodded. "I got the pass without problems, I'm just about to head into the backstreets now."

"You did exchange your bits for credits didn't you?"

"I did, I've also managed to locate one of the shards. It's being sold in an auction in a bar."

"Be careful about that Metal. Also, I have some friends here that want to speak to you."

Metal watched as Author handed the tablet over to his two friends, Gale (Mecha Sonic) and Lisa (Slenderwoman). "Hey there guys."

"Hey Metal, you doing alright in the big city?" Asked Gale with a playful tone. Lisa just pushed him out of view and looked to Metal.

"Hey Metal, how goes the search?"

"It's going well, I've located one of the shards so that brings me one step closer to getting you home." Lisa just gave him a caring look.

"You really don't have to do this for me Metal, I'm fine with staying here with Gale." Metal shook his head.

"I promised I'd find those shards and get you back home, and that's what I'm going to do." He stated sternly. Lisa gave him a happy look.

"Well then, if I can't change your mind, I'll just say good luck, and be safe."

"I'm in the central hub of the multiverse, I'm never going to be safe, and that's the way I like it." With that he hung up and stored the tablet away in his infinite storage.

He continued walking until he came across the border guards, both of them being gorilla-like creatures in red security uniforms. He handed one of them his pass and they looked it over. Nodding to the other guard the one in the both flipped a switch, opening the large gate slightly. The guard gave him the pass back and wished him good luck.

One through the gate it immediately closed behind him. Looking at the area he was now in he noticed a massive difference. Instead of most things being red and pink, they were purple and blue, the buildings made out of black crystal. He walked down the empty street, keeping a watchful eye out for any attackers. He knew that somebody had to have sensed his presence at that point.

As he walked he heard running and yelling. Looking down the street he saw a young woman running from a group of thugs. The woman had something wrapped in her arms as she sprinted away from her pursuers. He took a crouching stance and shot towards the largest thug. Before the thug could react Metal hit him in the jaw with an uppercut, breaking a few teeth in the process. As the big guy fell to the ground unconscious Metal got a good look at the thugs, they looked like generic alien thugs from something like Treasure Planet or Lilo and Stich.

The woman just stopped running to look back at her saviour. One of the other thugs, a skinny one with four arms and one eye, pulled out four blades and charged Metal. Metal opened his hand and a dark blue sword appeared in his grasp. He blocked the attack and summoned another blade and began trading blows with the surprisingly skilled thug. Eventually he got bored of the duel and kicked the thug down and stabbed it through the chest.

Turning to the last thug who looked at his fallen comrades, Metal began walking towards him. As Metal got up in the thugs face he stared him in the eyes. "Boo." The thug threw down its gun and sprinted down the street. "Yeah, I know better than to let a goon go away alive." Metal held out his hand and shot a moon blade at the retreating thug, ending its pathetic life.

The woman stared at him as he slowly turned to her. They continued to stares at each other for several moments.

"So...not even a thank you?" He asked, motioning to the fallen thugs that were now fading away. Metal now had a chance to get a good look at the girl. Her body was entirely yellow, she wore a tracksuit with sneakers. Her hair was tied into a ponytail, she also had one single gold glove on her right hand.

"Oh, right, yes. Thank you for saving me." Metal just rolled his eyes and tried to continue on his way when he was pulled back to face her. "Where do you think you're going?"

"I'm going to do what I came here to do." He tried to walk away but that ended with the same result.

"You can't leave, soon their friends will show up and hunt me down!"

"How exactly is this my problem?"

"Because you'll feel bad?" She guessed.

"I don't have time for this." And repeat.

"Maybe this will change your mind." She said with a sultry tone, reaching for the bottom of her shirt.

"You whore." Metal said in a disgusted voice. "Look, leave me alone, I have important things to do."

"What would a common displaced like you have to do in the backstreet territories?"

"It's personal..." He quickly snatched the thing that was wrapped in cloth from her hand. Taking off the cloth it revealed one if the portal shards. "...and it involves these things. So I'll be taking this with me." He quickly put it in his storage and flew above the girl before she could grab him again. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have an auction to crash. Chaos Control!" With that he teleported out of the area. The girl just froze in place.

"Oh no he didn't!" She stormed down the street in anger. "So he's going to that auction as well. Well then, I'll just have to give him a piece of my mind there then." She then heard another group of thugs. "Although I should probably get out of this area first."

Chapter 3: Party crasher

Metal walked into the bar that the auction was being held. He saw many different displaced from different franchises and a few other creatures. A few stared at him when he walked in before returning to their drinks. Metal pulled out a stool and ordered a cocktail, placing his credits on the counter which were swept up by the human bartender. Not wanting to attract attention he calmly sipped at his drink and played it cool.

As he was about to take another sip the announcement of the auction starting interrupted him. All eyes turned to a small stage with a podium that had a glass container that held the portal shard. Looking around slowly Metal studied the others in the bar. 'What would a displaced want with a random portal shard anyways?'

A man in a sharp suit and long blonde hair walked onto the stage with a microphone. "Good evening ladies, gentlemen, mares, colts, androids, displaced and other creatures of the multiverse. We have a special treat for you tonight, what you see here may seem like a regular old portal shard from the distant multiverse. However, with careful scanning and analysis we have discovered that the universe that this portal belongs to is the home of a displaced of Marx!" The crowd cheered and others growled.

'So it's about something that Marx did, interesting.' He took another sip of his drink and turned away from the auction. As bids were placed Metal suddenly heard a loud crash and yelling.

"I SENSE THE PRESENCE OF AUTHOR!!!" Yelled an ogre-like creature screamed, catching everyone's attention. Many of the creatures started looking around with a scowl, trying to pinpoint the location of their supposed enemy. All eyes fell onto Metal who just calmly took another sip of his drink. The ogre stormed over to him and slammed its fist onto the counter, spilling Metals drink. "So, Author has sent one of his goons to scope us out has he?!" The creature yelled in Metals face, spit flying everywhere.

Metal wiped of the spit from his face and turned to his spilled drink. "A pity, I was enjoying that." He then turned to the ogre. "I don't know what your deal with my displacer is but I'm here on my own terms, so I suggest you don't get in my way." Metal got off of his stool and started walking over to the man on the stage. "That shard belongs to a dear friend, would you mind handing it over before I cause some serious amounts of damage and take it by force?" He asked politely.

The ogre growled and charged him. Metal merely stepped out of the way and tripped the monster onto the stage, destroying it and sending the shard flying. Metal quickly caught the shard and put it in his storage.

"I've got what I came for, I'll be leaving now." He was about to walk out when a group of displaced blocked his path.

"Ohhhhh no you don't! Author really messed things up for us, we want some revenge!" Yelled one Mario displaced causing the others to yell in agreement.

"Oh I am going to enjoy kicking your ass the most fat ass." Mocked Metal with a confident tone. One by one the displaced charged at him, only to be kicked, punched, blasted or stabbed by the metal hedgehog. "Seriously, how can you guys be considered displaced? You aren't even trying." Getting bored of the repetitive onslaught Metal began to glow red. "Chaos...Blast!" The entire bar was caught in an explosion.

Further down the street the girl from before witnessed the blast. Watching as Metal emerged from the flames that were created she quickly hid in an alleyway. Metal looked in her direction before turning and walking away. As he took a few steps the Mario displaced grabbed his leg. He picked up the injured plumber Metal shoved him into the burning oven and shut the door. "Man that felt good." He then teleported out of the area.

The girl pulled out a tablet much like Metals and dialled a number. A shadowy figure answered. "Hello? Carrie?"

"Shard, we have a problem."

"What kind of problem?"

"One of Authors displaced has entered the backstreet territories and is gathering those portal shards."

The figure went silent then burst out laughing. "That's not a problem, that's great news!"

"What?"

"Oh right I never told you. My displacer is Roden Godswell. Tell me where this displaced is and what he is, I want to meet him."

"Um,, he's a Metal Sonic, he teleported out of the area. I think he's going to the Hall of Gates to enter a universe."

"Well I'll just have to meet him there. Shard out." The figure ended the call and Carrie groaned.

"He only tells me this now!? That was important!"

Metal approached the huge gate that led to a long hallway of gateways. There is a rule in the multiverse that cannot be broken. To enter a universe the creator has to allow you access. So no random evil doer that is bellow the power of a God can enter a universe.

Metal stood in the middle of the hallway and closed his eyes, trying to sense one of the portal shards but to no avail. "Excuse me, Metal Sonic!"

Metal turned around to see one of his favourite models of Metal Sonic approaching him. Unlike him this Metal Sonic was black, had five quips instead of three, his left hand was an arm cannon and he had a yellow stripe on the top of his head. He also had a mouth and a red gem on his chest. "I'll admit I never expected to see a Metal Sonic 3.0 displaced here, although I'm guessing you prefer to be called Shard."

"You'd be right there my friend. A little birdie told me that you were one of Authors displaced."

Metal took a defensive stance. "You aren't going to try to fight me are you?"

"No no no, I have no quarrels with Author, I am actually one of his allies displaced. Tell me, what brings you to the backstreet territories?"

Metal decided to trust him, as he could sense no lie from the displaced. "I am here to recover the shards to my friends universe gate, I take it you've heard of Lisa the Slenderwoman?"

"That lovely lady has lost her home?" Shard asked with genuine concern, Metal nodded. "Now that won't do, tell ha what. Me and my friends will help ya with your search."

"Well, ok then." Metal resumed his walk, his new companion at his side.

Chapter 4: You got Springtrapped

Metal and Shard began walking down the long hallway of gateways until Metal detected a portal shard. "One of them is in a universe nearby." He looked around until he felt a strong presence come from a universe to his right. "It's in that one." Shard walked over to the door and scanned it.

"Doesn't look like the displaced in there is too happy about being in Equestria, or anywhere near others for that matter. Looks like your token is there too." Metal shrugged and opened the door and they were sucked in.

Springtrap woke up, thanks to some annoying music in the ground. And what did he see? The Phantom Animatronics taking a ride and singing the song of the Weed Engine in his room. He facepalmed and cursed under his breath.

'Wait a moment?' He thought. 'How does that thing even fit in here... or why has it got Golden Freddy's head?'

Shrugging it off, he went to the door and kicked it open, hoping that someone was behind it. Sadly there was no one. He went to the kitchen to get something to drink, at least those six annoying ponies weren't awake. They gave him his space after he completely destroyed Shining Armor. But he expected one of them coming out of nowhere and trying to talk to him.

What he didn't expect was getting some kind of metal hilt thrown at him, at least it bounced off after it hit his chest. Picking it up, he realized it was Vader's Lightsaber. Now that made his day.

He put it somewhere inside his suit and walked over to the couch, turning on the TV. He just got there in time because his favourite Show came. He started to mumble the Lyrics to himself.

"Who's that riding in the sun,

who's the man with the itchy gun,

who's the man that kills for fun?

Psycho Dad, Psycho Dad, Psycho Dad!

  He's quick with the gun

  but he loves his son.

Killed his wife 'cause she weighs a ton.

  He's Psycho Dad!"

A few moments after he finished, a Portal opened in the room and out came... two Metal Sonics?

He stared at them before he said,"Are you fucking kidding me?"

One of the robots was just normal Modern Metal Sonic while the other was black with a yellow stripe on his forehead. He had five quills unlike the other Metal Sonic that had three, one arm was a hand and the other an arm cannon, what caught Springtrap off guard was the fact that this Metal Sonic had a mouth.

"Ok...I will admit that I did not expect a Springtrap displaced of all things to be here." The normal Metal Sonic shook his head and looked to Springtrap.

"Sorry about popping in unannounced, we'll be out of here shortly. You just go on with whatever you were doing." Both Metals walked out the door, leaving Springtrap lost and confused.

"The fuck?" He switched off the TV and began following the two robots. "Hey!" Both of them turned to him. "Mind telling me what the hell is going on?"

"Short version or long version?" Metal asked.

"Short."

"First, our names. I'm Metal, this is Shard. We're from other universes and are like you, people that were turned into the character they were cosplaying as. We're on a multiversal wide hunt for some portal shards that lead to my friends lost world, and one of the shards is here. That enough for you?"

"From all the crazy shit that's been going down lately, I'll believe anything you throw at me." Metal nodded.

"Ok then, we'll just be on our way then." They were about to turn away when Springtrap asked another question.

"Hey, while you're here, mind doing something for me? I'll help you out with this portal shard stuff if ya do." Metal and Shard looked to each other and shrugged.

"Alright, lay it on us Springtrap."

"There's this asshole that's trying to make me kill the ponies here, I need some help finding him and kicking his ass!" Springtrap slammed his fist into his palm.

"I could use a challenge, the things I've fought so far have been like cannon fodder. Who's the prick we're look for?" Asked Metal.

"Shadow Bonnie." They both nodded.

"Alright, let's go kick some ass." Springtrap grinned and they exited the Castle of Friendship.

"So, you guys got sent to Equestria as Metal Sonics?" Asked Springtrap, trying to at least attempt to converse with his new allies.

"Yep, I don't know how Shard fared in his since we just met, but things in my Equestria are just hectic. On my first week I had to deal with a bunch of Sonic characters showing up, my master emerald breaking, getting sent to another world, got destroyed by Celestia when I pulled the 'the cake is a lie' prank on her, had to fix a fucking love triangle and deal with my friend being possessed by a demon Lord or some shit. What's happened to you?"

"Nightmare Bonnie showed up and we fought, I went into Free-Roaming mode two nights ago causing a lot of damage, Shining Armour tried to fight me and now I have Darth Vader's lightsaber for some apparent reason." Metal shrugged like it was a normal thing for him and continued walking.

"So, you have any idea where this Shadow Bonnie might be?" Asked Shard.

"No, but I'm sure that something will happen that will show us the way."

"Why do you think that?"

"If there is anything I know is that this place is way too convenient for its own good." Springtrap stated in monotone.

"Ain't that the truth." Metal agreed and they both high fived.

They looked around and spotted a dark building deep in the Everfree Forest. "Right on que, alright ladies let's get this done." Springtrap began walking towards it.

"Oh I better get to punch Balloon Boy in the face." Metal said with a stern voice.

"Seconded."

"Thirded."

"Is that even a word?" Asked Shard.

"Does it need to be? You know what I meant." Springtrap stated with an annoyed tone.

"Fair enough."
