The promise couple
Chapter 22: Surprise!
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAlex ran up to the front door of his house, pulling the keys from his pocket. They clanked as he fiddled with them, trying to align it with the lock. He slid the key into the lock and turned it to the left. It made a satisfying "click" as the lock disengaged, allowing the door Knob to move. Alex walked inside, taking a deep breath as he walked in. There, he found Alejandra sitting on the couch. She stood up once Alex was inside.
"Hey sweetie. How was your day?" He asked.
"It's was... Exciting to say the least." Alejandra said with a smile. "Speaking of excitement, I have a surprise for you."
"Oh yeah, you texted me about that. So, what's the surprise?" Alex asked. Alejandra took a deep breath.
"what would you say if I told you we were having a baby?" Alejandra said. A giant smile grew on Alex's face.
"Are-are you, you know?" Alex said, still wearing his huge smile. Alejandra nodded with a big smile on her face. "Oh my god, honey!" He said excitedly. He rushed up to Alejandra and gave her a hug and spinning her around.
"Well your quiet excited." Alejandra laughed. He put her down and took back.
"Well of course I am. I'm gonna be a dad!" He said. He jumped and clicked his heels together. I thought popped into Alex's head. "I gues we're gonna get married soon, huh?" Alex said with a smile.
"Actually, I did some research and I made a decision. All marriage really is, is a financial bond. Just a piece of paper and a ring saying we're together. And, I don't really think we need that. We already share a bank account, and we live in the same house, so why do we need some piece of paper saying we both own everything here? I mean-" Alejandra was cut off by Alex, as he put a finger to her lips.
"I get it. You think we're already close as we can be, and I'm fine with that. But, that means I'm gonna need to put a new promise behind these promise rings. So, I promise to protect, love, and care for my family for as long as I live. I won't do anything without thinking of my family first." Alex said, holding Alejandra's hands. Alejandra starred at Alex with a massive smile.
"Aw, that's so sweet." She gave Alex a kiss. She looked at him for a second, she could see what he wanted to do. "Go on, let's tell our friends."
"Yay! Thank you so much!" Alex said. He pulled out his phone and tapped the screen a few times. "I'm sending a group text to our friends, telling them to meet us at CHS for some exciting news."
"Alright, are you gonna take your bike there?" Alejandra asked.
"Actually, I was thinking we could walk there together." Alex said. Alejandra smiled at him.
"Sure, we can walk together." Alejandra said.
Alex and Alejandra approached their school with big smiles on there faces. They saw all of their friends waiting by the Wonder colts statue, smiling and waving at them. They waved back, and a thought popped into Alex's head.
"Man, Rarity is gonna have a field day making outfits, isn't she?" Alex whispered to Alejandra. She giggled.
"Probably." She said.
"Hey you two. What's the big news we all came to hear?" Clyde asked. Alex smiled.
"Do you want to tell them, or can I tell them?" Alex asked.
"Go ahead." Alejandra said. Alex nodded. He cleared his throat and stood up straight.
"I've come here to inform you all that you are going to be aunts and uncles." Alex said. The group looked at each other with confused looks.
"What do you mean darling?" Rarity asked.
"I'm gonna be a dad!" Alex said excitedly. Everyone's jaw dropped.
"Woah, I'm totally surprised. I sure didn't read ahead to find this out." Treble said, he was obviously faking his reaction.
"Thats awesome man!" Mise said.
"Thank you. Although the two of us are going to need some advice on what we should and should not do as a parent. Preferably someone who's having or has had an infant recently." Alex said. Everyone slowly turned their heads toward Soul.
"What?" soul asked.
"Soul, do you think we could ask your mother for some parental advice?" Alex asked.
"Sure, just watch the foul language and don't make dirty jokes and she'll be more then happy to help you." Soul said.
"Thanks brotha. I'm gonna need as much help as I can get with this." Alex said.
Alejandra, Alex and Soul all arrived at Soul's place. Soul was a little freaked out to say the least, considering he'd never had a set of close friends preparing to have a child before. Soul pulled the house keys out of his pocket and inserted them into the lock. He unlocked the door and lead his friends inside. Once inside he proceeded to call for his mother.
"Mom! My friends need to ask you a few questions!" he called out.
"What kind of questions?!" she called back from another room. Alex cringed.
"Good luck explaining that one buddy." Alex said, patting Soul on the shoulder.
Dawn sat down on the couch with Alex and Alejandra. She took a moment to get comfortable, repositioning herself a few times before finally settling on a position.
"Thanks again for doing this miss Writer. This came up kind of suddenly, so we have nothing prepared." Alex said.
"Please, call me Dawn, and i'm always happy to help." Dawn said. "well, ask away."
"Alright, we'll start with what's in chronological order. How can I help her feel more comfortable while she's pregnant?" Alex asked.
"Alright, she will start to experience things like morning sickness and she will get cravings. When she gets morning sickness, it's best to try and rub her on the back and try to settle her down. When she gets those cravings, it's best to get her what she's craving or she will become moody. also, as she gets further along in her pregnancy, you will have to start doing a lot more of the house work." Dawn said. Alex mumbled the last part as he frantically typed something into his phone. Alejandra looked over his screen, and saw him typing what Dawn was saying.
"Are you actually taking notes?" Alejandra asked with a smile.
"Well yeah, this is extremely important." Alex said. Alejandra chuckled. "Alrighty, any advice for when the baby is born?"
"Yes actually, it would be wise to do half of the work when the baby cries at night. It will get both of you use to the whole experience, and it will be so much easier on both of you." Dawn said. Alex typed the information into his phone and then looked back at Dawn.
"When should we start introducing the baby to solid food?" Alex asked.
"Roughly between two to three years of age. It all depends on when their teeth come in." Dawn said.
"Alright, that's all I had to ask. You have any questions Alejandra?"
"Nope." she said.
"Okay. Well we better get going, thank you so much for your time Dawn. It helps a lot." Alex said.
"Any time. If it's ok with you, I would like to speak with Alejandra in private for a moment." Dawn said.
"Sure, i'll be waiting outside." Alex walked out the front door and shut it behind him.
"How are you feeling about this? Are you nervous?" Dawn asked.
"Not really. I like to think that everything happens for a reason, so whatever happens i'm ready." Alejandra said.
"That's good to hear. Oh and just between you and me, I may have slipped that back rub part in there for your own enjoyment." Dawn said with a sly smile. Alejandra giggled.
"I figured that, but I won't tell Alex that. After all, why should I give up the opportunity for a free back rub?" Alejandra said.
"Alright, well I don't want to keep you. You take care of yourself Alejandra." Dawn said.
"You too Dawn." Next Chapter: Forgetting someone? Estimated time remaining: 9 Minutes
