Chapter 40: Dreaming

Ashleys POV

Rainbow Dash and me sat at the kitchen table with our heads propped up by our arms as our eyes followed the multiple black limbs that were stretching out all around the kitchen as Symph prepared a meal. Each of the hands acted in a way that made them seem like they had their own conciousness, some stopping to think before continuing with their actions. A pair were chopping up vegetables, another was working the oven to prepare a large piece of meat I didn't recognise, another was cleaning up any messes and there were a few others setting the table and mixing various drinks while Symph himself sat reading a book in the living room, all the limbs stretching out of his back.

"It's kinda freaky..." Rainbow whispered.

"I know right?"

"Says the girl who can break herself into fire and the mare who can somehow come to a complete stop from supersonic speeds and suffer no whiplash." We froze as Symph looked at us unamused.

"Um...creepy?" Rainbow guessed.

"That's better." Symph answered with a smile before returning to his book.

I shook myself and got out of my seat. "Well, I'm gonna go and take a nap, watching all these arms has made me suprisingly tired."

"It could be that your emotional state after yesterday has took its toll, with all the brain activity and possible rushing about." Symph offered disinterested while he flicked over to the next page in the book.

"What are you reading anyway?"

"'Teen Girl Hormones and You' very interesting."

I blushed as Rianbow just laughed. "Do you really need to read that?"

"I may understand a lot of things but the development and emotional states of teenage girls have always been a mystery to me, I am only a few months old after all."

I rolled my eyes and closed the door to my room as I entered. Wanting to be comfortable, I threw my shirt off along with my shorts before putting on my pyjamas and crawling under the covers. I pulled a Symbol and Derpy plushie close and hugged them before closing my eyes and falling asleep.

Symbols POV

I stood in my dream realm as I finally fell asleep. The bare, white void streched out endlessly. "Alright, what are we going to dream about today?"

As I lifted my hand to start crafting a dream I stopped as I saw the white void turn red. I was suddenly pulled from my dream and into another. I took in my new surrounding, a broken world. Pieces of reality missing, the sky blood red abd everything frozen in time. I immediately knew where I was. The world where I had died, and I had landed right in the same spot. I didn't stay long, I didn't want any more memories to distract me from finding out what was going on.

I teleported to Ponyville, which was in ruin. All the ponies frozen, some even beginning to fade away. "I figured Marx would have this world fixed by now, especially since it belongs to Lisa. What the hell is keeping him from this?"

"Perhaps he just knows what will happen when the portal opens again, or perhaps he passed the job onto someone else. You never know."

I just closed my eyes and sighed. "Of course you're still alive..."

"You sound disappointed brother, it's almost like you wanted me to waste away in a broken reality." Forge responded with his usual sarcasm.

"I did. I was hoping Xrams rampage in this world had turned you into a pile of ash." I said while turning around to face him, only to see him resting on the back of a frozen pony while eating an apple. "Yep, that fruit can make anyone look like an asshole..."

He threw the half eaten fruit away and looked me in the eye. "Well, I survived, so at least that's one thing I managed to do that you failed at."

I rolled my eyes abd folded my arms. "What do you want Forge?" I looked past him and saw the shattered orb of a Noghtmare and the skeleton of an Xram. "And what the hell happened here?"

He looked to the body and orb before smirking. "Well, we just had a little disagreement, so I put them in a permenat time out."

"And my other question?"

His smile faltered as he looked around. "I need to talk to you about something important."

Symphs POV

I smiled as I watched Rainbow Dash sit by the kitchen counter as her eyes followed my black arms, it was both funny and adorable. Once everything was done though, I got out of my seat and walked over to the kitchen to make some finishing touches. Most of my arms retracted, but I kept a few out to help me.

"Hey, how can you see what you're doing whenever you make all those weird arm things?" Rainbow asked with curiousity.

"I don't, I just know what I'm doing." I replied. Granted, I don't know how I do it either, I kind of just do it and it works.

"I'm not buying it..." Rainbow said suspiciously whole folding her hooves and studying me. I chuckled and flicked her nose with a tendril before retracting it and focusing on carving up the meat I had bought from the multiverse market, which was able to be eaten by both carnivores had herbivores. "Hey, if everyone's asleep, then why are you still making this stuff?"

"I can place it in a warm pocket universe and keep it all there until they wake up." I explained. "Speaking of them sleeping, I'm sensing that they are having some rather unpleasant dreams." I set the food down and began walkimg towards my fathers room, but turned and walked towards Ashleys, I knew better than to disturb my father.

As I walked into Ashleys room I saw her squirming slightly.

"Now...what are you dreaming about?" I turned into a puddle of liquid and fused into her body before entering her mind.
