Ashes In The Wind
Chapter 37: Alive
Previous Chapter Next ChapterSymbol stood with cuts and bruises all over his body, the multiple Xrams on the ground fading into dust. His wounds slowly began to heal themselves as he stood in the darkness staring up at the prison. "You had to know that wouldn't work on me."
He got no reply, instead another Xram appeared and gave out an annoyed sigh. "Of course. It was more a test of your current strength than anything. I know you will only continue to grow stronger while being around your displaced. But know this..." Xram got right up in Symbols face and glared at him. "...you will never be strong enough to kill me."
Symbol rolled his eyes and the Xram burst into flames before exploding. "We'll see." He opened a portal back into the void and closed it before any of the darkness could follow him through it.
Ashley's POV
I focused on my arm and clenched my hand into a fist, after a moment it became black and metal like. Smiling at this I pulled my arm back and swung it towards a large rock in front of me, causing it to shatter like glass. My arm returned to normal and I took in a breath, my armament Haki was improving, it was just a matter of summoning it as quickly as I could and trying to create full body Haki.
"Impressive." Chief praised as he watched gr on the side. "You seem to be getting a good handle on your abilities."
"Thanks, having Abi help me control my fire and Symbol teaching me Haki and fighting techniques has really helped me come along as a fighter. I just hope that I'll have my own real fight one day. Any time I've been in a fight Symbol was there or he weakened them for me."
"He's being careful, you're his first student and he cares about you. The only other people he's ever been this close too were Abi and his sister..." Chief topped himself from going any further, uncertainty in his voice. "Don't ask, it's not my place to tell you what makes that topic unpleasant."
I tilted my head in confusion before shaking it off, it was something they obviously had talked about privately and I already knew how this song and dance went. Best not to press the issue. "Oh hey, I've been meaning to ask, what's your Equestria like?"
Chief sat down again and looked over to Eris who seemed to be talking to Symph about something. "Our Equestria is much like the shows, except that it has been plunged into a deadly war. Eris, Symbol, my team and I all fight alongside the Equestrians against the combined forces of The Flood, the Changelings abd the Nightmare Horde. I've...already lost someone very dear to me in a previous war..."
I sat down near him and place a hand on his knee. "It's ok, you don't have to tell me." I said caringly with a soft smile.
He looked at me for a moment before chuckling. "Symbol was right, your eyes are like diamonds."
A huge blush came to my face as I heard this. "W-What?!"
I could tell he was smiling behind the helmet he wore. "I guess he wouldn't tell you huh? He always talks about you. How you're coming along, how you're coping in Equestria and your qualities."
I was just a stuttering mess at this point, my face completely red.
We both heard laughing behind us, a very familiar laugh. We turned around to see Alucard laughing his ass off in the shade of a tree. "O-Oh my God! Your face! Your fahahahace!" I somehow managed to blush harder as I held out my hand and blasted him away with a Fire Fist attack. "Worth iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttt!" He yelled as he was launched into the air off into the distance.
"Heh, so you do like him." Chief said calmly as he got off the Rock and began walking away. "Come on, let's walk and talk, I've been wanting to have a look at a Ponyville that hadn't been ravaged by The Flood."
"R-Right." As we began to walk together I saw Eris and Symph catch up to us and walk beside us. "D-Does he really talk about me that way?"
"Yes." Eris, Chief and Symph all said in unison. "Not in much of a 'in love' way, more a relaxed and comfortable way, he's taken a good liking to you." Chief added.
That made more sense. But hey, it shows he's interested in me. It was at that moment that I planned to move in at the wedding, get him into a romantic setting, like the dance floor, and ask him that question again, the one from when we were in that cave before the Nightmares attacked.
"Oh, speak of the devil." Eris spoke as she pointed a hoof in the direction of a dark purple portal that appeared by the cabin. I saw Symbol jump out and land a little harder than he should have. We all ran up and saw that he was hurt slightly if the multiple small cuts abd bruises were anything to go by, although they were healing up they were still noticeable.
"Oh...hey everyone, how's it go-"
"Ok, where the hell did you go and why are you hurt?" I cut him off and demanded angrily, placing a finger on his chest while glaring at him.
"Uh..."
"Don't 'uh...' me! You are going to explain what the hell happened. Are you trying to make me worry?!" I just continued scolding him while Symph, Eris and Chief watched while stifling their laughter. Symbol just stayed frozen in confusion as I grabbed him by the collar and began dragging him over to the cabin to fully heal.
"Oh what a day it is to be alive." I heard Chief say before I shut the door to the cabin.
