Ashes In The Wind
Chapter 3: Training and a stupid decision
Previous Chapter Next ChapterI clenched my fist and looked at a test dummy that Symbol had put out for me. Focusing on my hand I managed to summon my fire. Winding up my arm I threw my flaming fist foreward. "Fire Fist!" A large blast of fire shot out of my hand and completely destroyed the test dummy. I heard clapping and saw Symbol leaning against a rock.
"Well done, you've gotten used to your powers faster than I anticipated." I blushed slightly at his compliment. "Now, I'm going to show you something a little different." I looked at him with curiosity. Walking over and sitting down I watched him appear in the middle of the clearing. "You have leaned how to create fire and use it in attacks, but you do not know how to maintain it fire more than a few seconds." He reached his hand out and small tongues of purple fire started circling it. "Being able to maintain a single attack for longer periods of time can give you an edge in battle." He shot out a small burst of purple fire and it stayed in the air. He then held out his hand and the flames converged into his palm creating a dark purple blade. "As you can see, you can also shape your fire into objects, such as swords and small knives." With his other hand he swiped the air and five small blades of fire shot out and impaled a large rock.
"Coooooolll." I got up and focused on both of my hands. Creating two small bursts of flames I focused on keeping them in the air, I then imagined the fire turning into two blades and that's precisely what happened. Looking in my hands I now had two orange curved blades. "Awesome."
"Hmm, as I thought, your powers are also connected to your thoughts." He looked up to the sky and noticed the position of the sun. "Alright, enough training for today. Well go to Ponyville, get all the introductions out of the way and rest up. Tomorrow I will teach you how to use Armament Haki." I squealed in joy and began following Symbol as he led me towards Ponyville, a frown adorning his face.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He looked at me quickly before turning back.
"Nothing, it's just...something is happening today and I can't even go, even though it greatly involves me." I suddenly felt guilty.
"Am I holding you back from it?" He shook his head.
"No, just some rules I have to follow, even if it means I miss this." We continued walking in silence until I heard another voice.
'Ugh, that's it, I can't handle this anymore!' Symbols body went dark purple and a blob of black liquid jumped off of him, forming the shape of a pony. "Symbol, ignore the rules just this once and go see her!" To say I was surprised by the sudden appearance of this mare would be an understatement, I was more confused than anything.
"Abi, you heard Roden, I'm not about to go against his word, I owe him too much."
"What do you owe him huh? He'd be dead if it weren't for you! All of us would be dead if it wasn't for you! I think he's the one with the debt to repay Symbol, not you!" Symbol went to say something but came up short. Looking to the ground his face went from sorrow to determination.
"Abi, take Ashley to Ponyville, I've got to go see someone very special." He burst into purple flames and disappeared.
I just looked at the pony that I now knew as Abi confused. "Um, hi?"
She turned to me and smiled. "Oh, hi there. Name's Abi, symbiote pony if you're wondering."
"You mind telling me what that was all about?"
"Symbol had a life before he became a displacer-in-training, he had to leave that life behind with little choice in that matter. He left behind a legacy among other things." She gave me a look that told me she couldn't say any more.
"Well...uh, shall we go then?" Abi nodded and began leading me through a forest.
Symbols POV
I stormed down the hall of doorways until I came to the door with the sun necklace on it. As I put my hand on the doorknob I heard someone cough behind me. "Don't try and stop me Roden."
"Take your hand off the door Symbol."
"Why should I? I have a right to see her be born! I have a right to see both of them be born!" I turned to him with a look of rage. "I deserve, to see my daughter's birth."
Roden just stared daggers at me. "Don't you remember what you owe me? I saved your life."
"But before that I saved yours! And everyone else's in the damn multiverse!" I clearly caught him off guard with this. "It's you, that owes me something. I never asked to be resurrected and you didn't have to teach me. I at least deserve to hold my child at least once."
He remained silent and crossed his arms. "Fine...just don't let anyone know you are there." He walked away and I opened the door, walking through and into my old universe...The Second Universe.
When I walked in I failed to notice Roden hiding behind a pillar. "He's learning..."
Ashley's POV
We finally reached a hill overlooking the peaceful town of Ponyville. I took in the details of the town that couldn't be shown in the cartoon, due to limited animation. Just then Abi and I heard screams in the town. Looking at the centre of the village I managed to spot a gang of Timberwolves terrorising the town.
"Well, ain't that convenient?" Stated Abi sarcastically.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that if you were to save the town from the Timberwolves that are vulnerable to fire the ponies will accept you easier." She thought about it and looked at me. "Ok, I'm gonna do something here and you can't freak out, ok?"
"That depends on what you wanna do." I said uncomfortably.
"I'm going to fuse with you, give ta a bit of a power boost and I can stop any attacks from going haywire." I nervously nodded at the plan and she turned back into liquid, fusing with my body.
"Hey hey! Easy on the chest!"
'Sorry, they're just so plump.'
I groaned and began running towards the town. Unaware of what my displacer was doing at that very moment.
