Ashes In The Wind
Chapter 20: Strange foal
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"I just don't get it, they're the ones that brought me here yet they hide so much from me." I sat in Twilight's library while she reorganised the books in the shelves with her magic.
"Well maybe they're doing it for a good reason, they are from other worlds and it seems like they have a great responsibility with what happens beyond our realm." Twilight suggested while stacking some encyclopaedias. "You said they don't tell you these things because of this 'Roden' guy right? Why don't you try to find him and see if he will give you the answers?"
I rubbed the back of my neck and thought for a moment. "I don't think that'll work, he's the one that ordered Abi not to tell me those things anyway."
Twilight shrugged and went back to her books. "Well I guess this is something you'll just have to figure out on your own, unless you can get Symbol to warm up to you enough to tell you."
I thought about that for a moment, maybe she was right, maybe all I had to do was earn Symbols trust. Smiling I thanked Twilight and walked out of the library and began walking around town. As I walked through the streets of Ponyville I was given friendly smiles and a few waves, these ponies were very welcoming, not one of them gave me glares or tried to avoid me, they welcomed me into their town with open hooves.
Smiling as I went along I spotted a filly over by the Everfree Forest, walking in a trance as she slowly approached the forest of thorns. Raising a brow I ran over to the young pony, turning my bottom half into fire to give me a boost of speed. As the foal was about to step into the forest I stopped her and steeped in front of her. "Hey, where do you think you're going little one? It's dangerous in there."
I looked the filly over, she was a unicorn, her fur was grey and her mane war tattered and black. I then looked at her eyes and flinched, her eyes were all black with only red dots as pupils. "Please... move..." She tried to walk around me but I picked her up.
"Sorry, but we're getting you checked out." She didn't even struggle, only continued moving her hooves like she was walking, still in a trance. "C'mon, lets get you some help." I held her in my arms and began walking back to the library.
When I walked into the library I felt the filly stop moving and fall asleep. Looking around I saw Twilight writing something down on a scroll at the back of the main room. "Hey Twilight."
Her ears perked up and she turned to me. "Oh Ashley, I wasn't expecting you to come back here so soon." She walked up to me and noticed the filly. "Who's that?"
"I don't know, but there is something seriously wrong with her." I lay her down on a nearby couch and opened one of her eyelids, revealing the black sphere beneath causing Twilight to gasp.
"What's wrong with her? I can feel a dark presence coming off of her body, and those eyes are just disturbing. We should report this to the Princess at once." As Twilight ran out of the room to get a new scroll and find Spike to send the letter I looked over the tiny filly. I noticed a name badge and took it off of her chest.
Reading it I learned her name, 'Easy Snow' and what school she belonged to. "Fillydelphia School For Unicorns?" What would a filly from Fillydelphia be doing all the way out here?
Twilight came back with Spike who blow a small green flame onto a scroll, sending it out of an open window towards Canterlot. I gave Twilight the name tag and her eyes widened. We tossed theories back and forth over what the reason for the filly being here was, all of which seemed extremely unlikely. "Maybe Abi knows."
I rubbed my arm nervously. "I don't think we should go near her for awhile, with the fight and all."
"Ashley this filly's life may depend on getting an answer." Sighing Twilight got up and headed for the door. "I'll go talk to her, you and Spike stay here and wait for the Princess." With that she was gone, leaving me and the young drake in silence with a possibility possed sleeping filly.
Third Person
A portal opened up in the Everfree Forest a few feet above the ground. As the portal flickered a boy jumped out and landed on his feet perfectly. The boy looked around twelve years old and had slick black hair. He wore a butlers outfit with black gloves, his eyes had reptilian slits as pupils with no irises. Looking up at the portal he saw Roden looking down at him.
"You remember what you have to do here Symph?"
The boy now known as Symph nodded. "I do master Roden, I am to hunt down the Nightmare in this world and assist my fathers displaced in any way I can." He replied I a relaxed, professional tone.
"Very good, now get going and make sure to get to Ashley as soon as possible before your father arrives, then get going to the party with Lisa." With that Roden closed the portal and left Symph to do his job.
Turning around Symph smiled and began walking. "It will be good to see father again, I haven't seen him in a few months, although given when is happening I can understand why he hasn't visited, dealing with insanity and now his own displaced family to manage." As a timberwolf jumped out in front of him it cowered under his glare, similar to when Symbol would intimidate them.
Smiling as he watched the wolf flee Symph set his sights on Ponyville.
