Chapter 7: Hellhound at the Gala

“So let me get this straight.” Vinyl asked while she was busy cooking. “Our little master pretty much just reset her brain after being attacked by Nightmare Moon, last night?”

The Guardian nodded, Screwball happily chowing down on a bowl of cereal next to her, refilling it every couple minutes or so. “I tried to talk her out of it, but she was dead set on destroying her horrid memories. Not that I can completely fault her, I have some myself I’d rather forget.”

“To be honest I’m not surprised that she would do something like this.” Octavia said as she made a cup of coffee for Rebecca. “I mean have you read her journal log? This would pretty much want anypony to forget if they were in the master’s shoes.”

“A journal log?” Screwy asked between swallows. “That’ll make remembering certain things easier, at least. Though,” she said, turning towards the Guardian, “why is she acting like you’re her mother or something?”

“...no reason,” the time mare said, finding the ceiling rather interesting all of the sudden.

“I wouldn’t be surprise if she was her mother really.” Vinyl said as she looked at the time mare and the vampire. “They do look cute together when you think about it.”

“Not to change the subject or anything,” Janelle interrupted. “But how are we gonna explain this to Celestia and Luna about what happened to Veronica?”

“I believe a half-truth would be the best method,” the Guardian said, letting out a small breath from the subject change.

“A half-truth?” Screwball asked.

The Guardian nodded. “We don’t lie to them, simply give a vague portion of the truth.”

“That sounds like lying.”

“It may, but it most certainly is not. You leave the princesses to me and everything will be taken care of.”

“And what about Twilight and her friends?” Rebecca asked as she took a sip from her coffee. “I know we can get away with it with five of them, but Applejack might be a problem.”

“Leave that to me as well,” the Guardian said with a smirk. “I have a certain way with the farm mare.”

“Okay, so when does this so called grand galloping gala start?”

“The dance itself starts roughly around eight o’clock tonight. So, make sure you’re all ready by then.”

“I doubt will be dancing due to the way we look.” Sally said pointing at the way all of them look.  “We pretty much gonna scare some of the ponies once we get there.”

“You shouldn’t worry about what they think,” Screwball said, squeezing the cereal box to look inside it, presumably for a prize. “Just be who you are and have fun,” she stuck her tongue out to the side as she reached inside, “that’s what I do!” She yanked out an oversized magnifying glass, looking at all of them through it, as it comically enlarged her eye.

“Where did she even get that?” Veronica asked.

The Guardian chuckled mirthfully. “She’s Screwball, don’t question it.”

“Does my eye look big?” Screwy asked.

“Pretty much yeah.”

“Good. That’s very good.”

“Okay so when do we leave for Canterlot?” Janelle asked.

“Whenever I suppose,” the Guardian shrugged, taking a sip of her tea.

“Guess we’ll leave around four seeing how we don’t want to be late, that and so we don’t miss out on any of the good food they have.” Suzy said licking her lips in hunger. “I wonder what the food will look like?”

“Um, hello?” Screwball said, looking at them like a bunch of idiots. “Time machine literally in the next room. And goes anywhere.”

“Oh right, I keep forgetting that you’re a time mare and all that jazz.” Rebecca said.

“It’s not your fault. I’m not all that different from any other pony.” She took another sip. “I’m just not content with sitting still all the time. So much to do, so much time to do it. Adventuring is the only entertainment I have left.”

“Is that why there’s, like, fifty different ph.d’s and other degrees in your memory room?” Screwy asked.

“That’s correct. Advanced schooling was one of the first ways I entertained myself. Though, those fifty I have out are only the ones I’m most proud of. There’s many more hidden away in storage gathering dust. They take up quite a bit of room; good thing I don’t have to worry about fire hazards.”

“Well I better get going.” Octavia said as she grabbed her cello, and began to make her way towards the door. “I have get the rest of my friends and head off to Canterlot early for the gala.”

“Good luck with that Octi, while you’re doing that I’ll be at home making sure no one tries to enter and steal anything.” Vinyl said, waving to Octavia before she left the house.

“I will admit, you’re certainly vamponies I’ve met thus far.”

“They’re nothing compared to you, Guardian,” Screwball smirked.

“We don’t speak of her,” the time mare gave a light glare at the filly.

“Just sayin’,” Screwy muttered, looking slightly miffed.

“Eh, not so bad being a vampony. I mean it’s not like we go out and suck the life out of innocent ponies or something.” Vinyl said as she belly flopped on the couch, and turned the TV on. “We’re just lazy to some degree.”

“Trust me, I know it all too well,” the Guardian grumbled.

“Let’s change the subject, so Guardian. What are you gonna do during the gala?” Asked Veronica.

“Oh I was going to spend a lovely evening with Twilight and Celestia. Screwball was going to spend her night in the gardens.”

“Animals are nature’s chaos,” the filly said ‘philosophically’.

“You sure it’s okay to leave Screwball with a bunch of animals?” asked Sally.

“Of course! Screwy may be young, but I trust her completely. She’s nothing like her father in the regards of compassion. She’ll be better off with the creatures of the earth than the stuck up snobs of Canterlot.”

“Fair enough I guess.”

“I just hope nothing weird happens while we’re at the gala. Lord know that if it does then we’re gonna be blamed for it.” Rebecca said in annoyance.

“This world is destined to bring hell upon itself, isn’t it?”

“Language, Screwy.”

“Sorry.”

“To some degree yes, but at least they give you warnings when something’s about to happen.” Rebecca said as she finished her cup of coffee. “Welp we better head off to Canterlot. We don’t want Rarity or Twilight to nag at us for not being their on time, and I prefer to get it over with.”

“I suppose we can cheat a little and use the TARDIS to get there fashionably early. And yes, that is a real thing. We’ll meet you all inside when you’re ready.” The Guardian and Screwy hopped down from their chairs and off into the adjacent room, the sound of the TARDIS door opening and closing moments later.

“Alright girls get whatever you need and let’s head off to the gala.” Veronica said as her friends nodded and went off to do as they were told to do.

(Moments later)

[Nighttime]

“Where in the name of Equestria are they?” asked Twilight, as she paced back the forth. “It’s almost eight and they still haven’t arrived yet.”

“Take it easy egghead,” said Rainbow Dash, as she tries to calm the lavender unicorn. “It’s not like it’s the end of the world if they don’t show up on time.”

“Are you kidding me? Celestia invited all the leaders of each nation to Canterlot to see Shalltear and her friends. How can this not be the end of the world?”

“At least things didn’t turn out like the last time we came here, and besides I’m sure they’ll be here at any moment.” Just as the cyan pegasus said that, the TARDIS appeared right next to the two. “See told you they would be here on time.”

The door burst open wide, the Guardian strutting out wearing an elegant gown of a pure silver, glistening in the lights of the gala, her hair done up quite nicely and simply all around beautiful in appearance. Screwball followed after her, wearing a simple purple dress, adorned with a swirls of green that made her look like a walking painting.

“Oh I do so love making a fabulous entry,” the Guardian said, her voice much more pompous than usual. “Ties everything in together juuuust right.”

“Your definition of fabulous entry didn’t mention just almost hitting something.” Sally said as she exited the TARDIS. “I mean really, do you even have a license for that?”

“Of course not. You really think they’d let a pony drive this thing? Are you mad?” the Guardian said with a cheery smile, completely nonchalant about the question.

“No, but I’m not driving with you after what just happened a few seconds ago! I mean really who taught you how to drive, a crash test dummy?”

“I taught myself, actually. It was quite a fun ride for my old self.”

Screwball floated up and whispered into Sally’s ear, “She actually drives like that on purpose. She’s trolling you.”

“I...but….you know what screw it, I’ll take the train back home when this is over.” Sally said as she slithered inside the castle.

The Guardian just had on a big grin before addressing the others. “Now girls, behave yourselves tonight, but try to have fun. If you need me, I’ll be with Celestia and/or Twilight otherwise go find Screwball and she can contact me directly.”

“Okay Guardian.” The monster girls said as they entered into the castle.

“What took you all so long?” Twilight asked as she walked up to Guardian. “You’re almost a few seconds late for the gala.”

“Fashionably early, darling,” the mare replied. “Plus,” she knocked on the TARDIS, “time machine~.”

“W-What, as long as nothing odd or weird happens, then this gala will go as smooth as marble. I just hope the leaders of each nation won’t be shocked at how Shalltear and the other look like.”

“About that. There’s been a… development with our countess friend.”

“What do you mean?”

“What wrong with the kid vampire?” Asked Rainbow Dash.

“Her memory. She has completely erased the past fifteen hundred years from her mind to destroy the memories of her time as a slave.”

“WHAT?!” Both ponies said in union. “How did that happen?!”

“A failsafe in her mind by the looks of it. The mind is the greatest weapon of any sapient being, after all. It can do wondrous things, even the impossible.”

“If that is true, then what caused her failsafe to activate?” Twilight asked.

The Guardian made sure Screwy and the others had wandered off before leaning in close. “Not here, it’s too public. Tia and Luna will want to be made aware of this as well.”

“They should be inside greeting the other ponies as they enter. Is it that bad that you need them?”

“A great threat has returned to your world. And she wants the blood queen as her pet. I would say it’s very bad.”

“....Let’s go. Celestia and Luna must know this.” Twilight said as she motion Guardian to follow her and Rainbow Dash inside the castle.

(Elsewhere in Canterlot Castle)

While Guardian was busy with Twilight and Rainbow Dash. Veronica and the rest of the monster girls made their way to ballroom of the castle. Just as they enter into the room everything went dead silent as all the royal ponies stared in both shock and disgust at what they saw.

“Well...this is awkward huh?” asked Rebecca.

“Pretty much what you expect when we’re the only monsters here.” Janelle said looking around the room at all the ponies. “I’m starting to wish Guardian was here right about now.”

“Well she’s not, so we just have to make do with the situation.” Veronica said as she made her way towards a table. “Let’s get this over with so we can go home, and never have to deal with these royal jerks again.”

“They better have some decent food here for us? Because after looking at the food that we walked by on the way here, I’m not at all amused.” Rebecca said as she took a seat next to Veronica, only for her to break it and fall onto the floor. “Dammit.”

“You should know by now that you can’t sit in a normal seat right?” Suzy asked appeared across the table in front of the ushi-oni.

“Don’t remind me cat.” Rebecca said as she pulled herself back up. “Anyway, how long before we meet these leaders of the nations?”

“Don’t know, Celestia didn’t really give me that much detail when it comes to stuff like this. But I’m gonna guess in an hour or two depending.” Sally said as she notice the looks that some of the ponies were giving them. “I get the feeling some of them want us to leave.”

“Unless they have the power to make us leave, then they can bite my undead ass for all I care.” Veronica said rubbing her head in annoyance. “God I’m hungry, where’s the damn waiter when you need him? I’m starting to get hungry.”

“I don’t think we’ll be getting any service anytime soon unless Celestia is here, and orders them to come to us.” Rebecca said as she started to play with her silverware. “Hey did anyone seen where Screwball went to?”

“Don’t know, I’m surprise she isn’t here with us.” Suzy said as she to was playing with her silverware. Soon an idea came to her mind as she looked at Rebecca. “Hey Becky, wanna screw around until dinner time?”

“Depends, what’s the idea that you had in mind?” She asked, only for the cheshire cat to smile devilishly.

“Oh something fun for all of us to enjoy.”

(Celestia’s private chambers)

“So Guardian. Twilight said you had something important to tell me and Luna about.” said Celestia, as she took a seat.

“Yes, but first, how have you enjoyed the week I had planned for us?” the mare asked with a smile. “I certainly hope it turned out like I’ve been planning.”

“I have to say that was the most fun I have ever had in years.” Celestia answered with a smile on her face. “Though no offense or anything, but you are a crazy driver and should never be given an chariot to drive.”

“You’re one to talk sister.” Luna said. “It took you two hours to figure out how to work the bumper car at the carnival.”

“Says the mare who freaked out at the haunted mansion ride.”

“...No comment.”

“Good, at least I get to have some charming adventures with two of my favorite students after all of this. But now, on to business.” The Guardian paused for a moment, breathing slowly. “Nightmare Moon has returned, and is seeking to use Shalltear as her latest power pet.”

“What?! But how can she be still alive? Twilight and her friends defeated her with the elements of harmony. How can that monster be still alive after that?”

“As the horrid saying goes, ‘evil finds a way’. At the present moment, it doesn’t matter how she came to return, but what she’s focused on. And that is Shalltear, who has already started to combat her advances, yet via a drastic method.”

“What do you mean drastic method? What did Shalltear do?” Luna asked with a worried tone in her voice.

“She erased the past fifteen hundred years of her memory. She has no recollection of Atlas, Equestria, the Displaced, or even either of you. She doesn’t even remember becoming the vampire known as Shalltear.”

“I never thought she would so something like that, but then again it come to no surprise when you think about really.” Luna said as she rubbed her neck. “Though it’s gonna be a pain to explain things to her.”

“Maybe this is for the best,” Celestia said. “I mean granted she may have forgotten everything, but this will be a good thing seeing how Luna can protect her from Nightmare Moon.”

The Guardian nodded. “I don’t agree with her decision, but I’ve been doing my best to get her back into things. But remember, she does not recall ever having any form of relationship with either of you, no bad and no good. She’s even calling herself her original name: Veronica. And, though I hate to admit it, I may have taken advantage of her memory loss a weeeeeeee bit.”

“What did you do this time teacher?” Celestia asked. “Faust, don’t tell me you that future thing like did with before did you? Because that was a awful joke and you know it.”

“No! ...it gets old if I use it too much!” the Guardian huffed, getting giggles out of the other mares. “I… may have… told Veronica… that I’m… her……. mother….”

“....You do realize you’re gonna have to explain to her how can a pony give give birth to a vampire right?” Luna said with a deadpan expression on her face. “I mean really you decided to go and pretend to be her mother?”

“Adopted mother,” she corrected. “It’s just… I really bonded with those girls out there over the past week. I’ve grown… attached you could say. They looked up to me and depended on me. It’s been… a very long time since I’ve had that feeling.” She looked at Celestia and Luna with moist eyes. “You both were the last time I can remember having anything close to that.”

“I know, I know, but still you sure you’re up for it? I mean don’t get me wrong I know they’re not evil or anything, but you do realize that they tend to...you know? Take things a little too far in some cases.”

“I know I have a tendency to get over attached, believe me it’s gotten many hurt in a long time. But I want to show these girls that even if I’m not here, there is still someone out there that cares about them. I can’t be here forever and I will have to leave, but that doesn’t mean I won’t ever come back. I can still return when and wherever I choose or am needed. This is about them too, not just me, and they need someone to show them care and love.” The Guardian put a hoof on Celestia’s knee. “I failed you on that aspect, my little sun, but I want to show that I can do better and be there for them.”

“Ugh, I hate it when you do that. Alright fine I trust you with this, I just hope they don’t try to strangle any of the royals in Canterlot or something.” Celestia said kneeling down to hug Guardian.

The Guardian hugged back, smiling. “Thank you, Tia. I’ll do what I can.” She looked over at Luna after letting Celestia go. “Oh and Luna, check your night table drawer tonight before you retire. I left you a special gift.”

“I’ll make sure to see before I go to sleep.” Luna said as she was about to hug Guardian, only to hear a loud exploding sound coming from the ballroom. “Why do I get the feeling that a certain group of monster caused that sound.” She asked as a night guard rushed into the room.

“Princesses! We have a problem!”

“Let me guess the monsters?” Luna asked.

“No...well yes, but there’s a bit of a problem.”

“What problem?”

“There’s some kind hellish dog monster in the ballroom, and it’s fighting the countess.”

“Oh that’s not good, that’s not good at all.”

“Dog monster?” the Guardian asked. “Oh no. I have a feeling I know what form of monster has appeared.”

“We better head over to the ballroom before something bad happens to Veronica.” Celestia suggested as she teleported herself and the others to said location. As they appeared they the countess standing on one side still looking as elegant as ever. While on the other side stood a darkish gray girl with certain hellish dog like features wearing a metal like bra, and a blue daisy do shorts.

“What in the name of Equestria is that?” asked a kirin who was wearing royal garb.

“Crap the leaders are here.” Luna mumbled.

“Oh I was so hoping I was wrong. That’s a hell hound,” the Guardian said with a wince.

“What’s a hellhound?” Celestia asked.

“A literal cousin to Cerberus, only far more ruthless.”

“Celestia.” said a male zebra wearing a military like outfit. “Would you care to explain what’s going on?”

“Um...we...you see Ambassador Ardamon, this is...”

“A little scene that the monsters do whenever they’re bored of waiting.” Luna interrupted causing everyone to have a confused expression their faces. “This is just how they do things from time to time to fill the boredom. Right Guardian?”

“Hmm?” the mare said, finally paying notice to the ambassadors. “Oh, Oh yes! Yeees, that’s all. Just a little stress relief is all. You know how teenagers are,” she said, waving her hoof to give a sense of no concern.

“Are you sure that’s what they’re doing?” asked a female griffon. “If that’s the case I might actually enjoy this year’s gala for once.”

“O-Of course!” Celestia said, trying to smile with certainty. “You know how the youth can be sometimes.” the sun pony pulled Guardian to the side while the others were watching the show that Veronica and the hellhound were displaying. “What do we do now?”

“I’d say we stop them for now so they don’t make a mess, eh?” the Guardian said, trotting off in the girl’s direction. “Can’t have the party destroyed before it fully starts, right?” she grinned.

“For the love of Faust, please don’t do anything rash or bold Guardian.” pleaded Celestia, as she watch Guardian trot away.

“Is that the best you got mut!” Veronica yelled as she cracked her knuckles. “I’ve seen little colts that can fight better than you!”

“Oh I am so gonna enjoy beating you to a bloody pulp.” The Hellhound said, as her body started grow along with her fur. “Because once I’m done with you, that spider demon girl is next on the list!”

Veronica’s eyes widen as she saw the Hellhound starting to grow by the second. “Great, so she’s one of those kind of monster. If push comes to shove, I might have to pull out my armor for this fight.” The Countess snapped her fingers as she summoned her lance into her hand, and pointed it at the hellhound girl.

“NOW YOU FACE THE TRUE FIRES OF HELL THEMSELVES!” The Hellhound roared as she was about to charge at the countess, until a certain time mare interrupted her. “What the?!”

“Now now ladies,” the Guardian said, stepping between the vampire and hound. “Is this really something you should be doing at a party like this? I’m sure we can work something out, can’t we?” She smiled at Veronica then at the Hellhound… who backhanded the mare a moment later, firing the Guardian through a far wall.

“I DON’T KNOW WHO THE FUCK YOU ARE PONY, BUT STAY OUT OF THIS FIGHT! THIS IS BETWEEN MONSTERS, NOT SISSY PONIES LIKE YOU!”

“Oh she is so gonna get it now.” Rebecca said while hiding behind a table.

“Dead girl walking.” Janelle commented.

“I hope Guardian doesn’t kill the poor girl,” Sally said.

The dust around the new hole in the wall began to clear, allowing everypony to see the Guardian’s limp body covered in debris and broken stones. From where the girls were standing, it didn’t even look like she was breathing.

“Oh shit, don’t tell me she’s dead?” Suzy asked as she appeared next to the limp pony.

Veronica’s eyes turned scarlet red as she charged at the hellhound, getting ready to kill her. “BASTARD! YOU’LL PAY FOR WHAT YOU DID TO MY MOTHER!”

“Heh, I like to see you try.” With a grin on her face, the hellhound charged at the countess. “But then again you’ll just end up like her any!” just as the countess was in striking range, the hellhound surprised her with an uppercut sending her flying to ceiling. Before Veronica could hit the ceiling, the hellhound appeared above striking her down to the floor like a volleyball. “HA! Just as I thought, you’re just as weak as these ponies are!” she said, landing next to the countess as she picked her up by the throat. “Now then, any last words before I kill you and bring your body to my mistress?” Something suddenly struck the hound in the back of the head. “Who dares to hit me from behind?!” she yelled as she looked around to see who did that. When she looked behind her, though, she sorely wished she hadn’t.

The doors to the castle gardens were wide open, a blazing thunderstorm raging outside while a certain pink filly was glaring at the Hellhound with eyes of the purest fury. The very air around everyone felt charged with magic and power as Screwball’s hair began to flow in the fierce wind that was blowing in from the magical storm. The floor beneath her hooves began to crack and break, transforming into either animals or inanimate objects that were brushed aside as she made her way towards the Hellhound. “You hurt the Guardian. Now I’m going to hurt you.”

“You are so gonna get wrecked.” Veronica said, as she was dropped to the floor head first. “Ow!”

“O-Oh s-so you think you can take me on kid?” The hellhound asked, trying not to be afraid.

“My name is not ‘kid’,” she said, her voice lacking any emotion. “It’s Screwball, the daughter of Discord.”

“W-Well then Screwball, prepare to get wreck just like that stupid mare just did.” The hellhound said, as she charged at the pink filly, with her now burning hand getting ready to punch Screwball in the face.

“My money’s on the offspring of Discord.” Suzy said as a both appeared in front of her. “Place your bets mares and gentlecolts!”

Before the hellhound knew it, she ended up stepping on a banana peel and slipping a few meters before landing on her butt. Upon landing, a loud flatulence sound rang out, making her look down to see a whoopie cushion under her. “Hey fur face! Catch!” Screwball shouted before throwing a brown cylinder at her.

The hellhound eyes widen, as her dog like instincts forced her to jump into the air and grab the cylinder with her mouth. The moment she did that, she heard a loud hissing sound coming from it. “.....I hate you so much right now.” she said as the cylinder exploded. Sending her straight into a wall. “Ow….so much pain.” A giant, green, rubbery hand slapped itself to her chest and yanked her down to the floor. Then it slammed her against a far wall then to the opposite wall before going back to the floor again.

Screwball was now floating, surrounded by pure chaos magic as she her now pure yellow eyes stared at the Hellhound. “You hurt the one pony to ever give me a chance. Who ever takes me seriously. All she ever does is help everyone at the cost of herself and you hurt her. For that, I will show you the true terror, of chaos!”

“W-Would it help if i said I was sorry?” The hellhound asked while trying to recover from Screwball’s attacks. “I-I was just following orders kid, that’s all.”

Before the filly could retort, the Guardian’s voice rang out, “Screwy, that’s enough!” All eyes turned to see Suzy supporting a limping Guardian, battered and bruised from the early attack as well as a thin trail of blood from her lip. “You’ve won, Screwy. Now power down. You’re not him, remember? You’re better than this.”

Slowly the energy around Screwball began to fade whilst she floated back down to the floor. The raging storm died away as well, with all of the damage Screwball had caused magically restoring itself. The little filly quickly ran over to the Guardian and hugged her, crying and sobbing into the mare’s barrel.

“Shh, shh, it’s alright, I’m fine. Just a little banged up is all,” the Guardian cooed, rubbing Screwball’s back soothingly.

“Called it.” Suzy said with a grin on her face. “It’ll take more than that to bring that pony down.”

“H-How? That should of kept you down for at least a few hours or so.” The hellhound said, still shaken up by what happen to her moments ago.

The Guardian gave a weary smile. “It takes more than that to keep me down. I’ve been hit much harder than that, ya wimp.”

“What did you call me yeah-!” before the hellhound could say anything she felt herself returning back to her normal form. “Dammit, not now! I can’t lose like this.”

“You’ve lost, young one,” the Guardian said. “Surrender before you make things worse for yourself.”

“I-I can’t, if I do mistress will put me in another nightmare loop again for disobeying an order.” The hellhound said as she lowered her head in fear.

The Guardian looked over to Celestia, giving the princess a nod.

“And that my ponies concludes today’s scene that our little monster played out. Now while we leave our honored monsters to tend to their wounds or possible wounds. How about we move to the dining hall and have ourselves a feast.” Celestia said as she and Luna motion everypony and important leader to the dining hall.

“We’ll leave you with the hellhound, see if you can get her to tell us what happen to her and the whereabouts of Nightmare Moon.” asked Luna, as she left the room with Celestia.

The Guardian sighed wearily. “I’m getting too old for this stuff. Alright madam hellhound, what’s your name and how are you connected to Nightmare Moon?”

“My name is Monica Amamiya, as to my connection with Nightmare Moon. She was the one that let me out of tartarus when Sunbutt put me there for the way I look. Normally I wouldn’t work for anyone, but seeing how Nightmare Moon had that nightmare loop thing….well I pretty much didn’t have a choice in the matter.”

“Well, I’d say you have a choice now.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“From the look of things, I’d say you have two choices,” the Guardian stated. “At the present moment, you can choose between either being locked away in the Canterlot dungeons and endure Nightmare Moon’s punishment in a cold cell where only the guards can hear you scream. Or…” The mare smiled kindly at her. “You can join us. Fight against the mare of darkness and show her that you are not her puppet.”

*Sigh* I don’t have much of a choice do I?” Monica said as she looked away. “Fine, I’ll join your little crusade of yours.”

“It’s not my crusade,” the mare chuckled. “It’s theirs. But don’t mistake their inexperience. Inside, they have the heart of the monsters they’ve been transformed into. With your power on their side, Nightmare Moon will never be able to torture you nor anypony else ever again. You’ll also gain some very good friends.”

“......Is she always like this with corniness?”

“Sometime, but she adorable when she does that.” Suzy replied.

The Guardian grinned. “It may be corny, but why fix what isn’t broke, savvy?”

“Stop calling me that, you know I hate it when someone calls me that.”

The time mare deadpanned at Suzy who was smiling innocently. Eventually, the Guardian sighed, muttering, “Dang cats.”

“I heard that my little time mare~.”

“Call me that again and I won’t buy you that collar with the little bell you wanted.”

“Alright I won’t call you that again.”

“These people are either stupid, insane, or both.”  Monica thought as she turned her attention at Guardian. “So now what?”

“Now? Well, I suppose we go back to enjoying a pleasant evening of course.” She smiled, though with a slight wince. “It’s still a party. Might as well have our fun while we can. Suzy, be a lamb and tell the princesses everything has been handled.”

“Do it yourself, you have legs don’t you?” Suzy said while sticking her tongue at the time mare playfully.

“Yes, but at the moment, I’m pretty sure three are strained and one is definitely broken.” The mare winced again. “I may be standing, but I am in unDeathly amounts of pain.”

“Ugh, fine I’ll go to the princesses. You know for all powerful pony, you are so fragile.” In a blink of an eye, the cheshire cat left the room to get Celestia and Luna.

“Teenagers,” the mare sighed, shaking her head.

“Maybe I can help with your broken leg?” Veronica said as she placed a hand on Guardians broken leg. [“Regeneration!”] A green aura appeared around them both as the damage they received from Monica slowly started to heal. “How’s that?”

“Well I don’t feel like passing out from pain anymore, so I’d say you did a wonderful job.” The Guardian nuzzled Veronica’s cheek for a moment. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, mother.”

“Okay not that that’s taken care of, I suggest we head over to the dining hall before they run out of food.” said Rebecca as she began to walk out of the room. “Because something tells me that they’re gonna run out of meat real soon.”

“You all go on ahead. I’m gonna get Screwball to a guest room,” the Guardian said, looking down at the filly that had cried herself to sleep against her chest. “The poor dear is exhausted.”

“After what happen a few minutes ago, I’m not surprised.” Veronica said, as she motion the others to follow her to the dining hall. “Try not to be late for dinner mother, that alicorn with the sun on her butt looked like she wanted to talk to you later.”

“Yes dear,” the Guardian smiled, watching them leave before trotting off to another room. She gently laid Screwball under the covers of the king sized bed, smiling more as the filly snuggled unconsciously into the soft pillow and warm blankets. The Guardian brushed some of the hair from Screwy’s eyes. “What am I gonna do with you?” she said softly. A burst of pain washed over the Guardian as her spells finally wore off, causing the mare to fall into unconsciousness on the floor next to the bed.

(Dream World)

“Hey….hey! Wake up pony!” yelled a young but raspy voice. “I know you can hear me Guardian, so wake up.”

It took a lot of effort and groaning, but the Guardian finally brought herself to open her eyes and take a look at her surroundings, as well as search for the being rudely waking her up.

“Finally you woke up. I thought I had to do the bucket of water thing on you.”

“Who are you? And why are you waking me up? You whippersnappers need to respect your elders!”

“Oh I’m so afraid of the old hag.” the voice said as it made itself visible to Guardian. Standing in front of her was a small female child with light purplish pale, white snow color hair, and a hood cape. “Haven’t seen you in a while Guardian.”

“Oh, we’ve met? Was I older or younger?”

“Does the word the grim reaper ring a bell? Or are to old to even remember him?”

She giggled. “You’re going to have to be far more specific. I’ve met several entities of death.”

“The one where you punched my dad in the face when he was trying to tell you something 50,000 years ago. Ring a bell you crazy old bat?!”

“Ohhh, that grim reaper… he’s not still sore about that is he?”

“I don’t know why don’t you ask him seeing how he’s oh i don’t know. NOTHING MORE THAN A FUCKING HEAD NOW!” The lich girl yelled sarcastically. “I mean really who blows someone up just like that?”

“Well sorry, I was going through an angry phase back then! Different regeneration, different Guardian! I most certainly am not her anymore.”

“Oh sure blame it on the regeneration thing why don’t yeah? Figures. Not only do I have to keep an eye on Veronica, but now thanks to you I have fill in my dad shoes and be ready for when you kick the bucket.”

The Guardian gave the grave keeper a strange look with a quirked brow and her head tilted to the side. “Me? Why would I be on your list? Especially with the many regenerations I have left.”

“There are two paths for your death and it pretty on the when the end of time comes, or you die from living the rest of your life in peace. You’re on the end of time thing which won’t be happening anytime soon.” The grave keeper open her book to see if she was correct. “Yep says her you won’t kick the bucket until…..well I can’t give an accurate date, but it happens during your final regeneration cycle.” she said trying not to laugh that she’s trolling the pony.

The Guardian nodded with her lower lip slightly out, thinking it over. “Doesn’t sound too bad to me.”

“Yeah, which I’m dreading the moment you kick the bucket.” She said slamming the book close. “After all stuff you done in the past and stuff whether it was good or bad. You’re still going up to big kingdom in the heavens. Then again what I’m dreading the most is I have do my father’s job and keep Veronica and her friends alive.”

“I thought that was their mother’s job?” the Guardian said with a grin.

“I mean death wise jerk face. Those little monsters save Equestria and gain a little immortality boost from killing Nightmare Moon and her plot to take over the omniverse. Then again that machine she makes wasn’t going to work, but it would cause some problems in the omniverse. And lord know I don’t want a repeat of displaced wars. Gremmy is kinda of pissed that made him into a four legged pony, and Derpy is still calling me because she thinks I’m the muffin god.” The grave keeper narrowed her eyes at the time mare. “And it all your fault.”

She chuckled again. “Take a number. I have many people giving me that line. I only do what I feel is right. As for Gremmy, I’m honestly surprised he’s still alive, but beggars can’t be choosers. Just don’t tell him where I am, we didn’t end our friendship on the best of notes, after all.”

“He’s imagination incarnation, it’ll take more than a monster like Drake to kill him. And for the record he still see you as friend, he was just mad that you hit him below the belt…..five time” The grave keeper said as she handed her a letter. “He also wanted me to give you this letter, and says he want to see you at this location in the Equestria Girls universe. Personally I would go and make up for what happen, just like how you did with Celestia four days ago.”

The Guardian took the letter and stuffed it behind her mane. “I’ll think about it. Now then, why is you’ve brought me here? It surely can’t be to try and give me spoilers or to complain about your job. So, what’s the real reason?”

“Guess I can’t keep anything from the Great Guardian huh? Well the reason why I’m here is because of Veronica’s alternate future really.” The grave keeper said with a grim expression on her face.

“Oh no, don’t you dare tell me about any futures,” the Guardian warned. “You reapers and other beings may not believe in set time, but I have seen it in action in the worst of ways. Once you tell me the future, it is set and there’s nothing I can do to change it. I don’t want to hear any spoilers.”

“Not that, you crazy idiot! I’m warning about her evil self from an alternate timeline where she’s evil. This happens a few years after she kills Nightmare Moon with the help of Lance.”

The Guardian dragged a hoof down her face. “Alright… I’m listening.”

“You remember this being in the history books called Crystal right?”

A calming breath was taken in by the pony. “Yes, I very clearly remember that Displaced. What of her? She died long ago, why bring her up now?”

“Imagine Veronica like that, but different. Instead of causing a war, or stealing other Displaced powers and junk. She’s pretty much going to other Equestria and stealing energy from the mane six, the elements of harmony, the tree of harmony and royal sister’s along with Cadence. She’s pretty much a power junky that does from world to world doing it over and over again. Worse part is whenever a Displaced try to stop her….they meet a fate worse than death.”

The Guardian gulped, slightly pale. “O-oh dear.” She sighed, shaking her head. “I never thought the past here was that bad. This is why I haven’t time traveled through Displaced universes. There’s so much that isn’t recorded that is absolutely horrible.”

“This Veronica is fine, but her evil future self is on her way here for her. And I’ll say this much, compare to Crystal. If she were to meet Alt Veronica, she would be nothing more than a small boat against a giant tidal wave.”

The Guardian was desperately trying to fight off tears now, sniffling as the worst of thoughts started flooding her mind.”Please… please tell me what I can do. I don’t want to lose her, or any of them. What can I possibly do to help them?”

“There are two that can help you with this. One being a certain imaginative pony that you hit below the belt, and a cross-eyed mare that can help Veronica to be able to have a fighting chance against herself.” The grave keeper said as she notice a uneasy look Guardian’s face. “Look those two are the only ones that are at the same level as her, so whatever pride you have left just swallow it and go get Gremmy’s help. I know Derpy doesn’t mind helping, but even she can’t protect Veronica’s friends alone.”

“I’ll… I’ll do anything to protect my girls,” the Guardian said with determination.

“Good, now in about one week you’ll need to come and get Veronica and her friends. This  little 20 year window opportunity is only one you’ll get to have them train their asses off. You need to take them to Derpy’s Equestria seeing how she won’t follow them there due to her having the powers of Shitama from one punch man. But it’s also the closest world where it acts like a hyperbolic time chamber for Displaced.”

“I’ll do what I can,” the Guardian said. “I’m a mare affecting the past here. I should only perform so much, but I will do what I must to ensure a brighter future for them… until the inevitable.”

“Which I’m pretty sure won’t happen until the end time like you, but anyway just keep them there in Maretropolis with Derpy for 4 years or so. After that bring only Veronica, Suzy, and Monica with you. The rest will watch from inside your TARDIS until the fight is over.”

The Guardian nodded in understanding. “I will return when I can to help them, that I can promise.”

“That good to hear, at least this version of her I can save this time.”

“Is that all?” the Guardian asked, sounding hopeful.

“Yep that’s pretty much it in a nutshell really. Oh and if you see your sister tell her that I’m not here in this world.”

She chuckled without any humor. “I have no siblings, Reaper. Your kind know that more than anyone.”

“True, but that doesn’t mean we can’t accidentally hit a time paradox bubble, or accidentally fall into other Displaced timelines and get ourselves caught into whatever it is they’re doing. Oh and my name is Azula not reaper if I haven’t got the chance to tell you my name.” She said while rubbing her next. “And when I met your sister, she wouldn’t stop cuddling me.”

“...If I see that woman, I’ll be sure to mention it,” was all the mare said.

“Good, now if you’ll excuse me, I have job to do that you made me do you little monster of a troll.”

“Blame the old one, not me. She was a different pony from me.”

“She still you you crazy old….you know what fuck it. I’m gonna go before I will say some I will regret.” Azula said as her body start to disappeared. “Just do what I just told you to, and don’t tell Veronica this until after a week. Also don’t become a bitter old mare around Veronica and her friends when you hit your final regeneration. That was main reason why there was an evil Veronica appearing in her alternate future timeline.”

The Guardian chuckled again. “That life is a long ways away. Besides, have you met me?” She grinned. “As if I could ever be bitter. It has been nice meeting you, Azula, but you should get back to work. Don’t want to get on Hades’ bad side would you?”

“Ugh don’t remind me, but still I have seen a lot being like you that lived long and as time marches on they become bitter old beings with no love left to give..we to certain being. Just promise me that you won’t do that to Veronica okay?”

“I would never give up my love for Veronica and the others. And don’t you dare ever insinuate that I ever would again.”

“Okay, okay, I just want to be sure that’s all. Anyway I’m going, oh and while you were asleep, I did a little prank on you. Seeya!” With that the lich disappeared into nothingness. As Guardian woke up from the dream she was in. Upon waking up she notice that she was in a different room than the one she was in moments ago. To what she could tell it looked similar to Veronica’s room back in Ponyville, only blue with the night guard symbols around the room.

“You’re awake!” Veronica said as she appeared next to Guardian. “I was worried something happened to you when you didn’t return after an hour had passed.”

“I’m alright, I’m alright,” she said, slowing sitting up. “My spells wore off and all the pain crashed down upon me all at once. It was overwhelming and my mind shut down because of it. Sorry if I worried you, my little blood sucker.”

“D-Don’t call me that.” Veronica said blushing from the nickname Guardian gave her. “It’s so embarrassing.”

“You’re my child, it’s my job to embarrass you.”

“Ugh!” Before Veronica could reply a certain hellhound banged at the door.

“Hey! Is the mare up?! If she is tell her that her friend Screwball won’t stop asking me for a piggyback ride, and I’m getting annoyed by it.”

“You attacked a gala and slammed me into a wall. So you’d better give that filly a piggyback ride or I’ll get out the dog whistle!” the Guardian called out.

“Alright damn! You make one mistake and you get branded as bad guy because you don’t want to get killed by a nightmarish alicorn.” Monica said as she began to walk off.

“Don’t you think you could go easy on her mother? I mean she did what she did out of fear and all, so you could at least not bite her head off.”

“Oh that was to just to get her to do it. If she didn’t, Screwball was gonna make me give her a piggyback ride. And those can be quite terrifying.”

“I’m afraid to ask, but how terrifying are they with her?”

“Do you recall from your memories of Earth of a smart device app known as ‘Robot Unicorn Attack’?”

“Yeah but what does that have to do with...oh shit Monica might be dead right now.”

“Mother of Celestia! What is that little filly doing with that monster!” yelled a random zebra guard from outside the room. “Oh no! She coming this way!”

“Someone help me?!” Monica cried. “This evil pony won’t stop making me move like this!”

Veronica looked at her mother with a deadpan. “You’re evil, you know that?”

The Guardian clicked her tongue with a wink and nod before getting out of bed. “Let’s go, shall we, my dear? If my memory serves, Tia wished to speak with me before I passed out. Better late than never, right?”

“Fair enough, I’m pretty sure she wants to introduce you to the other leader before the night is over.”

“Well that’ll be fun!” the Guardian said, leading Veronica out of the room. “Mayhaps I’ll tell them a tale! Should scare the buggers right!”

“This is going to be a long night I can feel it.”

(Hours later)

Hours past as the Grand Galloping Gala was coming to a close. To Celestia surprise the ambassadors from the Zebra, Griffon, Kirin, and Minotaur nations actually got along with the six monsters. Hell even the Queen Sakura asked for Veronica hand in marriage, but was quickly shot down when Guardian interrupted and told her she was not ready for marriage. Still that didn’t stop her from giving Veronica her number when the time was right. Other than that, everything went well. Well almost everything if don’t mind a few guards knocked out or were sent flying do to Screwball’s piggyback ride adventure. But anyway our little monsters were outside of Canterlot Castle, as they said their good-byes to Guardian and Screwball.

“Do you really have to go mother?” Veronica asked, trying not to cry. “C-Can’t you stay for a few more days or so?”

“I really do,” the Guardian nodded, smiling back at her. “I have a duty to protect and defend any world I can. As well as a promise to show Screwball all over the Displaced multiverse. I have my own responsibility, Veronica. But this isn’t goodbye, do you understand me?” she asked softly.

“I know but,” Tears started to flow down her face as she rushed over to Guardian, and hugged her. “I don’t want you to go, Mother!”

The pony felt tears beginning to fall from her own eyes as she hugged the vampire back. “I know. I know,” she whispered. “But I’ll be back soon. In fact, I promise you that I’ll be back in one week’s time. How’s that sound?”

*Sniff Sniff* P-Promise?” The Countess asked, as she whipped away her own tears.

“Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye,” the Guardian recited from memory.

“Okay, I’ll trust you to keep your word about it.” Veronica said, as she let go of the time mare.

“Be sure to come and visit us from time to time teacher.” Celestia said as she and Luna hugged the time mare.

“Oh, I’ll be back before you know it for you two,” the Guardian chuckled, wiping away her tears. “How exactly did you think we were spending the week together when I’ve been with our monsters the whole week?”

“Fair enough old friend.”

“Bring back some cool stuff for us from you adventures.” Suzy said appearing on Guardian’s back. “We want something to remember from your adventures you been on while you’re away.”

The Guardian let out a loud laugh. “I’ve got more trinkets than I know what to do with in this old girl!” she said, patting the shed.  “I’ve got storage rooms upon storage rooms upon storage rooms of junk I’ve gathered from my travels. Remind me next week and I’ll let you all go treasure hunting through them. Find anything cool that’s not dangerous, you can keep it… if I don’t feel I need it. Probably not, most of that is kept in… where do I keep those again?” She started going off into tangent after tangent, talking purely to herself as she paced in front of them.

“We’ll be sure to reminder next week.” Rebecca said as she waved at the time mare. “Do be careful on your adventures, and try not to cause too much trouble.”

“Since when do I cause trouble?”

“You really want the answer to that?”

“Hush Screwy.”

“Just sayin’...”

“Says the little filly that caused a lot of trouble in Canterlot while riding a hellhound.” Suzy said, while trying not to laugh.

“Hey! I’m a chaos spawn, it’s basically a part of being born that I have to cause trouble. Time Lords are supposed to prevent trouble!” Screwball defended.

“And how’s that working out for yeah?”

“Suzy don’t piss off Screwball,” Monica said while cracking her back. “It’s bad enough I was her play toy, I don’t need to have her think of something else to do that involves me.”

Screwball giggled maniacally as the Guardian rolled her eyes. “Anyway, we’d best be off for now. But I just want you all to know, that I care about each and everyone of you. You’re all my girls, all of your precious to me in every possible way. And yes, that goes for you too, Monica.”

“W-Whatever,” Monica said while blushing. “J-Just go and try not to get yourself killed on you adventures.”

“Safe travels Guardian!” Sally said waving goodbye to her and Screwball.

“Bring back some good food too.” Janelle said as she waved goodbye as well.

“We’ll see you all soon enough!” the Guardian and Screwball said, waving as they entered the TARDIS. They all watched as the engines roared, the shed slowly disappearing before their eyes. And like that, they were gone. Next Chapter: Chapter 8: Personal Problems Estimated time remaining: 1 Hour, 10 Minutes
